A longtime journalist, magazine columnist, and editor, she is the founder of Un-Settling Books, a collaborative book writing and self-publishing program for beginning and experienced writers. Maggie believes in the power of story and the magic of the changing narrative, both on the page and in real life, and is a fierce advocate for refusing to settle for the status quo.

Plot Twist is a touching and resonant read — I felt like I was gathered with women who had been through life’s wringers and come through the other side with stories to tell. Their resiliency and vibrancy were inspiring, whether facing chronic illness, relationship troubles, or worse. The gem of the collection is Deb Cannon’s piece, Before and After, a wrenching story of love and grief yet sparkling with humor and the particular details of a remarkable human being, her son. The story is anything but generic — the writing brought every step of their journey present to me.
