Done with deadbeat dads. Done with struggling just to survive. Done with being signed up for things so someone else can cash the check!
So when she’s taken off-world and handed a mating contract, she actually reads it. Every word.
And what does she find?
It’s the kind of deal that would get the man arrested on Earth.
But one look at the picture of her fated mate, specifically the larger form he can shift into, and suddenly she doesn’t care.
He’s fire and danger wrapped in a body built for destruction.
And he wants her.
Vaelith can’t touch his treasure.
He can’t even know what she looks like.
Not yet. Not until she agrees.
His species has been banned from Earth for being too lethal, too uncontrollable, too bound by instincts older than stars. So he waits in space, chained by laws written to protect the humans from his kind, until his match appears. Her.
If she signs, she becomes his.
Body, soul, destiny.
A high heat, sci-fi romance for fans of oversized males, fated mates, cozy happy endings, and dragons. This story is recommended only for readers who arereally into dragons.
I'm just a lady with a foul mouth who really likes writing titillating stories about characters who go through experiences we don't have here on earth.
I like tea.
Yoga is life, meditation is therapy, and a birdfeeder right outside the window is the meaning to life, the universe, and everything.
3.25 stars. This short story is dual POV, well written, and feels like the compressed, summarised version of an arranged mating, fated mates, sci fi romantic erotica. I enjoyed the pragmatic approach of Brielle, the female human lead. I enjoyed the surprise and joy of Vaelith, the male alien dragon shifter lead, that Brielle was happy to accept him. I enjoyed the consent focus and the introduction to intimacy between the characters. But I felt that this was just too short. There was so much more that would have enhanced the story and it felt rushed and incomplete, though I really liked the premise.

This is a super super short story. It's OTT ridiculous and a fantasy kink.😝 Brielle, a woman from Earth, with a Dad who has a substance addiction, signs a contract for her true mate and leaves her world behind for him.🚀🌌 Who's her mate, you ask? It's a doozy. Vaelith, a shape shifter dragon. No amount of stretching and exercise regimen can prepare her for that one.😨🙄 That's part of the story. I'm not kidding.lol Size difference. Uh-huh.🙈 The transformation of Vaelith into his monster form was an interesting one. Slight spoiler. I believe Brielle will become a dragon herself.☄️🐉I also think they loved each other. Happy reading.*•>§<•*💚🖤💚🖤

The terms and conditions of an AI/Machine Learning licensing document that make up a third of this book —after the story — was more interesting than the story.
Meanwhile, stuffing the page count of your book is skating around false advertising when you declare your book is 70 pages when it’s really actually 43… Not counting the back matter.
She read the contract. Every word. Then she signed it.
Brielle didn’t sign up for the alien mate-matching program. Her deadbeat dad did it for her. But once she’s on the moon, facing a glowing contract and a spider-like diplomat, she makes a bold move: she reads every clause, lays down her own terms, and agrees to the match. Not for him. For herself.
Vaelith has waited centuries. Forbidden from Earth and too dangerous to approach a human unbound, he stays in orbit, holding back instincts older than stars. When she signs, she becomes his. But she’s not a prize to take. She’s a mate to earn.
Their first meeting is raw, intense, and nothing like a typical first date. But what starts as a primal chase builds into something lasting. She sets the pace. He gives her everything. What follows is heat, care, and the kind of bond that doesn’t fade.
Brielle rises from confusion to clarity, claiming her own story with sharp edges and soft strength. Vaelith, all control and instinct, transforms into a partner who doesn’t just take, he worships, protects, and adapts. Together, they create a connection rooted in trust, reverence, and want.
A scorching, fated mates sci-fi erotica with an alien dragon shifter, extreme size difference, knotting, praise kink, and mating heat. It explores consent, autonomy, trust, transformation, and erotic power dynamics. It's about choosing your fate, embracing desire, and being seen by the one who was made to treasure you.
The Elevator Pitch: A scorching sci-fi romance where a human woman agrees to be claimed by an alien dragon shifter too dangerous for Earth. What begins as a primal chase explodes into heat, care, and a bond written in instinct and desire. It's raw, intense, and deliciously unhinged in all the best ways.
I got some random rec on KU for a different story in this series while looking at something else, and decided to try this first one (even though they're standalone). I like a nice, short read in between other stuff, and the premise was up my alley.
The writing is quite good. Few typos and whatnot here and there, and one major inconsistency in the description of the MMC--when Brielle sees his picture before signing the contract, she notes that his hair is spiky and turquoise, but then when they meet, it's wavy and black?? Otherwise, the initial world-building and matchmaking agency stuff is well-written.
Unfortunately, it's so short that there's no real feeling of chemistry there to get me into the smutty aspects. Brielle seems like a great FMC, but she was kinda cringe and blathering on once she meets Vaelith. I'm sure I'd also be nervous in the situation--excited or not--but it was just kinda whiplash from her contract negotiations to his perspective to her behavior to the smut and ending. Vaelith just kinda uses Brielle as a fleshlight while he's in dragon form and then there's some cuddling/knotting stuff as it ends.
I did appreciate the descriptions of Vaelith's transformation. It was quite late and I should have been sleeping for hours at the point I was reading this last night, but I didn't really have a good idea of how big exactly he was in dragon form. Like, size difference stuff requires suspension of disbelief most of the time regardless, and this is explained away with alien science and prep work on her end before they meet, but like, are we talking about something the size of her own body?
After quickly looking into this author's other work, I think I borrowed Alien Zoo from KU a few years ago but never ended up reading it at the time. Because her writing seems solid enough, I'd like to check out her longer works. I'll probably read through the others in this series at some point as well based on the blurbs for the ones I glanced over.
I do also want to note that over 25% of the listed length for this read is AI policy stuff at the end. While I do appreciate the notes in the beginning indicating that both the story and art is human-made (thankfully), I did not read through all of that at the end. I refuse to use ChatGPT or any kind of generative AI so it just wasn't something I needed to look over.
Gleeful Goblin Review: Having a translator installed so you can discuss the marriage contract with an alien that you haven't met and that you didn't think would happen because your good for nothing father set it up and basically stole the money....rough way to start any day. But having to make a long term commitment to this sight unseen alien before you can even meet him is enough to give anyone pause! On the plus side though....when this contract is so minutely detailed you know ahead of time about what fluids are or aren't allowed and can set some boundaries of your own that's a pretty nice feature.
It's also hard to resist anyone whose first impression of you is so flattering: "She was tall for a human, with long, thick legs, built with a kind of strength that came from living rather than training. My gaze lingered shamelessly, drinking her in. The faint sheen of warmth across her chest, the quick rise and fall of her breath as her own gaze traveled across me, the way her hair framed her face in loose, unbothered strands. She was lush. Fertíle. A vision carved for worship as well as touch. Her softness wasn't weakness; it was abundance. Every curve, every ripple of her body spoke of life and warmth and decadence, and I couldn't look away. I didn't want to look away. She took a step forward, looking around the space, her entire body jiggling with such unabashed seductíveness. I wondered how on all of Earth she hadn't been snatched up by some other male. I was so incredibly lucky. Lucky that she was willing to leave her home, her planet, her family, just to come be with some male she had never met."
This is a VERY fast burn, high heat novella that gets right to the point but still has enough story to lose yourself in and leave you wanting way more. 5/5 Stars
If you’re craving a sci-fi romance that crackles with heat, agency, feral devotion, and a heroine who refuses to be anyone’s victim, Contract to Mate delivers an absolutely addictive, deliciously chaotic ride from first clause to final claiming.
This book isn’t just spicy—it’s smart, empowering, and surprisingly emotional.
What Makes This Story Shine
This novella may be short, but it packs a cosmic punch. It’s:
✨ Scorchingly erotic, with fated-mate intensity, size difference, praise kink, knotting, and mating heat. ✨ Deeply consensual, using a literal contract to explore power, boundaries, and trust. ✨ Emotional, because Brielle isn’t lost—she’s choosing transformation. ✨ Empowering, showing a woman reclaiming her autonomy and rewriting her future. ✨ Tender in surprising ways, especially as Vaelith shifts from a restrained predator to a partner who worships every inch of the woman fate gave him.
And the writing? It’s vivid, unapologetically sensual, and packed with moments that feel like someone turning on a light in the dark corner of desire you didn’t realize was there.
Why You’ll Love It
If you enjoy:
⭐ Alien dragon shifters ⭐ A heroine with backbone and bite ⭐ Heated chases grounded in consent ⭐ “Too dangerous for Earth” heroes who melt for one woman ⭐ Erotica with emotional depth ⭐ Fated mates with teeth
…this book will hit every single button.
Contract to Mate isn’t just about desire—it’s about choosing your fate, owning your passion, and finding a love that sees every part of you as treasure.

Oooh, I liked this one. Romantic dragon smut in space set up via a mating program!
I received an e-ARC for free via Booksprout. I am leaving a review voluntarily, and it is my honest opinion.
I love the concept of dragons as aliens, and the lore/worldbuilding in this was sooo cool. Can the Norratar come and take over earth in real life already please? We desperately need it lol. Vaelith was such a sweet and dedicated MMC, and Brielle, who is both strong and sweet, I liked as well. They're clearly a perfect match and I love that both of their personalities were very clear despite this being such a short read.
The spice was good, and the writing style was decent. One thing to consider: the actual story is only about half the length of this book, so it's quite short. The rest of the pages are taken up by a disclaimer/terms the author set in place in case the book gets snatched up by AI. Completely irrelevant sidenote, but I loved the dedication and author note and found both highly relatable as a fellow neurodivergent author haha
Overall, I'd recommend this if you're into sweet and spicy monster romance and looking for a quick, fun read!
"You are my mate, my treasure," I purred. "I will provide for your every need, your every desire, you only need to voice them. The contract isn't to limit you, it is to ensure that our first mating isn't frightening." "I'm not frightened," she murmured. "I... When I was little, I used to look up at the clouds and imagine someone like you was flying above me," she said, her lips parted and glistening as she stared at me, as if I were the answer to all her dreams. "I would wish you would fly down and pick me up so that I could leave the world behind and travel through the sky with you. I'm not frightened because I've spent my whole life dreaming about running away with you."
I loved this book. It was a fun, steamy romance and a fast-paced adventure. Good world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Brielle and Vaelith. I liked the initial contract building with Brielle beforehand, to make sure what was expected and understood on both sides. I thought the two of them were really cute together, and the chemistry between them sizzled. 5 stars
Before reading it, I already knew it was going to be something short to entertain and not a long novel full of information or character development. The purpose of entertaining is fine. 40 pages (according to my pc) that are meant to be enjoyed as a short, easy read, perfect for taking a break from dense books.
This is the second story by Deiri Di that I've read. I'm giving it 2.5 out of 5 stars because I found Vaelith charming and very cute, but that's all.Although short stories are meant to entertain and pass a quick hour, you can create memorable characters or a backstory that stays with the reader.Personally, it only reminded me of Regine Abel's books and series, which, interestingly, are also about matings through an alien service. That made me think: Where does the inspiration that both authors share come from?
Putting that aside, I would recommend this story whenever I post about Monster Romance or talk to a friend about these stories. although it doesn't stand out too much among other stories with the same theme.
This dragon alien shifter romance stands out with its unusual premise. The story begins with the female main character being sold by her father to a mating agency, but instead of accepting this passively, both main characters take action against him, which adds an interesting dynamic right from the start. What makes this book particularly unique is its bureaucratic approach to the mating process. Contracts, rules, and structured agreements play a large role, giving the story a very different feel compared to typical romances. This also means the main character is well-informed and able to make her own choices, which is a refreshing element. The pacing is a bit unconventional, with a significant portion of the story focused on this setup before shifting into the developing relationship between the characters. Overall, it’s a creative and enjoyable short read with a distinctive take on the genre.

This was a quick read and very different from anything I had read before. Our FMC Brielle has been signed up for a mating program by her drug addict of a father. But she's no shrinking violet! She sits with the Spider type creature who is going through the contract with her line by line. Brielle makes her own additions, including bringing her cat from earth to be with her and having earth internet access. You have no idea what sort of creature she will be with since she has to wear a health tracker and it apparently will take 3 guards to get her out if she backs out! She's not afraid though - and asks to see a picture. Turns out she's meeting Vaelith and I won't share spoilers about him. It's a quick read - but you do get a good sense of the characters. It was fun and spicy,.

Brielle finds herself hustled onto a transport and is now in a room talking to a sentient spider like woman and reading through an extensive contract. She signed up, but didn’t receive any notifications, so she assumed she didn’t match with anyone. She didn’t count on a betrayal she is finding out that she has a match and has to go through the contract line by line and apparently that she has the option of accepting or rejecting or changing parts of the contract. Contract to Mate is a Sci-fi Possessive Monster Romance book in space and a really good read. The storyline and characters are great. Grab this quick spicy read and enjoy, I know I did.

I’m giving this 2 stars because the story itself was actually enjoyable. It was a fun, smutty little read, and I did like what was there. There were a few minor editing issues, but nothing so bad that it ruined the reading experience. My main problem is that, while it was listed as a novella, the page count feels misleading. The actual story only runs through a relatively small portion of the book, while a large chunk of the later pages is taken up by licensing terms and other non-story material. There’s a big difference between picking up what looks like a 70-page novella and realizing the actual story is much closer to around 30 pages. So overall: enjoyable story, decent spice, minor editing issues, but it felt padded in a way that made the full product disappointing.
Contract for a Mate is a little novella whose MFC Brielle is signing a contract with an alien mate matching program, and is about to meet MMC Vaelith from a species known as the Eldryx who she has been matched with. After seeing images of him in both his forms Brielle is more than happy to sign on the dotted line because he is her dream come true, and for Vaelith her lack of fear of him is a welcome relief, and he is more than happy with his curvy new mate. Cute little steamy story that is nicely written and an entertaining treat from one of my favorite authors.

This is an amazing story about Brielle who is a human and Vaelith who is an alien dragon shifter. The stories short, but spicy, and if you love this type of story, you will love this book. Brielle Was signed up for a breeding program, with an alien Vaelith, anxiously wanted to have his mate, so he can do all kinds of things to her, and was amazed that she was not afraid of him. While I do enjoy Short stories, this story could’ve gone a little bit longer and given us more, There was enough storyline to reach their HEA.

Spice: 5/5 Genre: Novella, Alien Romance, Dragon Romance, Monster Romance ARC Source: I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thoughts: Contract to Mate by Deiri Di is a fast-paced, fiery blend of dragon and alien romance that delivers both heat and humor in equal measure. You can’t help but enjoy how Di weaves a comedic punch throughout the story. It also has me thinking, why didn’t I get a prenup with some of these requirements? Maybe my marriage would have turned out a lot better! Overall, it’s a great palate cleanser between heavier reads. Its perfect balance of spice and comedy, keeps you hooked to the very end.
Easily a story I would love more of! There are enough niche + unique details that make this stand out, that it could easily be a full length book. I enjoyed how the author wrote it, and the details woven in. I was fully aware this would be a short story, so I don't mind that. I just did not expect it to be so short at 4 chapters. I would have liked a smidge more, because honestly it was an enjoyable read! When I flipped the last page I was like noooooo! I would recommend it if you like this type of content.

Author Deiri Di always seems to deliver exactly what I need, when I need it. CONTRACT TO MATE has a lighter than air delivery into Vaelith and Brielle’s Norratar mate matching journey. It is cozy, sweet, super spicy, and endearing. I truly enjoyed the read. *** Recommended ***

I love a super steamy alien romance, and this one definitely fits the description. Brielle's deadbeat dad secretly signed her up for a mate-matching program with aliens and then had all the money sent to his bank. Now she has to honor the contract, and she finds that she is looking forward to it despite how it all started out. Vaelith is her genetic match, and he is doing everything that will make her happy and comfortable. I enjoyed this story. Be ready for lots of spice!

The first book in the Smutt Books Short Alien, a good start to the series. Brielle, signs up for an alien mate matching program. She is matched with Vaelith, an Eldryx. Brielle is thrilled with Vaelith's appearance, and he is equally pleased with her lack of fear and her curvy figure. This is a well-written, steamy, and entertaining story. I enjoyed this book. It was a fun, short, entertaining read. A major element of this book was the informed consent the female main character provided before the mating she was to engage in, which was refreshing. This was especially interesting given the male main character's opinion on the consent. I would have enjoyed this book even more if it had been longer and delved deeper into their relationship.

If you like a quickie filled with spice of all kinds, this one is for you. There's so much of it jammed packed into such few pages that if British gov, knew about this book, the would have tried to colonize it. Anyway... this quick and fast burn will leave you gasping and squirming in your seat and will only take about an hour of your time. Definitely a fun read.

This is a short story and that is just what you get. It was a fun read. More like a tease. This would make a great full story or stories with this mating service. I liked how you got some history of their lives but not much. You read how excited he is to have her as his mate. She was very understanding and her secret desire has come true. Nice short read.

Contract To Mate is book one of the Smutt Books Short Alien Romance.
Brielle is fed up with her life and everything going wrong in it, so when she has the opportunity for a mate she takes it. What we get is some spicy and smutty scenes between Brielle and Vaelith. Brielle has always had a specific kink in mind and finally gets to expereince what she has always imagined. Short read, but filled with enough for a great story.
I enjoy reading novellas when I tire reading novels and just need a quick read. Of course, the downside of novellas, is if I enjoy it, I wish it would be as longer. Deiri Di writes a lot of details. About Vaelith, the dragon, and his transformation. Brielle is given instruction on stretching to be able to mate with him. Who wouldn't want to be pampered and given everything you want, wow!
Enter your info into an inter-galactic database to be matched to your perfect mate. That is how a human and a dragon match and find each other in this quick, fun, and definitely spicy read by Deiri Di.
Because this was a short story we didn't really get a good deep dive into either of the two main characters, Brielle and Vaelith, with their backstories and such, but Deiri Di still gave enough information to know who the characters were and what led them to the moment where the book starts. The pacing was perfect. It didn't feel rushed or like it was jumping all over the place. The language and writing style helped the story move along and just the right pace for the story to say what it needed to say.
I enjoyed this story. It was fun, and quick. A nice breather from something heavier or longer. And of course, the spice was great!
