Honey in Hemlock

Rate this book
Amara Selene Harlowe has never had it easy. Her mother was an addict who died before Amara turned eighteen. The men in her life left her either broke or broken, and every job she's had has been one dead end after another. Hope was something she only saw in books and movies. But when she inherits a quiet farmhouse in rural Georgia, she finally has the chance to build a life of peace and security.

That shatters the moment she meets her new neighbor, Callan Rourke. Recently released from prison after serving eight years for a murder he swears he didn't commit. He's dangerous, guarded, and the last person Amara should want. Yet, the chaotic storm of curiosity, attraction, and desire pulls her closer no matter how hard she tries to resist, even when danger knocks at her door.

This book was absolutely amazing! The twists and turns kept me on my toes and prevented me from figuring out the book early. It will take you on a bit of a psychological trip but in such a good way. The story of Amara and Callan is a tale of adversity, perseverance, and self-discovery. The author clearly has a way with words, and I seriously hope there is more to this story! I need more!

Such a wonderful story of two people with troubled pasts coming together, eventually. The intriguing surprise at the end was perfect. I loved Callan and Amara. They had great depth and realness. I highlighted multiple quotes in the book because the prose was so good. Can't wait for the sequel.
