Dear Harper

Rate this book
Everyone at Ryder High knows what it means to have a teal envelope taped to their locker on the first day of the month.

Harper Kennedy is used to being around boys. Her father is the coach of the lacrosse team, and she grew up on the sidelines. So when she finds out she has a secret admirer, she’s shocked, but excited.

After getting the envelope, more boys appear in her life and decide to be her new bodyguards— a few lacrosse players and Ryder High’s ‘bad boys.’

But in order to do that, they have to learn a new skill—American Sign Language. It’s necessary to communicate with Harper, who is Deaf.

Harper starts getting letters from her admirer with hints of his identity, and a wordsearch to solve with each letter. The only problem? There’s no word bank to choose from…

Can Harper find the words she needs in order to solve the clues, or will she be left searching for more?

I’m a 41 year old man who works in minor league baseball. I am not the audience most people picture for this book. But I loved it.

Dear Harper is full of heart. It is gentle and hopeful and real in a way that caught me off guard. It shows a young woman figuring out who she is, finding where she belongs, and loving things that matter to her, even if they are not always labeled as “girl things.” Like baseball.

That part mattered to me. There are so many young women who love this game. Who feel at home at a ballpark. Who see baseball as more than a sport. And they deserve stories that see them too.

This book gives girls permission to love the game fully and without apology. To trust their voice. To stand up for themselves. To take up space. And to believe that kind, steady, hopeful things still exist in the world. You can love a game like baseball and still give yourself permission to be feminine.

I think that is beautiful.

And who knows. One day I might work for one of the girls who reads this book and falls in love with baseball in the process. I would be proud of that.

Danielle wrote something warm and honest and worth putting in front of young readers. If you have a daughter, a niece, a student, or a young person in your life who loves stories and possibility, put Dear Harper in their hands.

It is wonderful.

Eeeeeeee! This book was SO CUTE. I loved Harper so much! She's now one of my fav heroines from this series (of both seasons)! I love how there was focus on multiple things - her Deafness and communication, her relationship with her dad, which was so fun, and also friendship. I went back and forth on who I thought her admirer was, and I was so happy when I read the epilogue and totally flailed a bit. I love this series so much, just wanted to say that again!

This book…so so so good! I am just wowed by Danielle Keil’s ability to continue to write these cute and sweet romance novellas that bring me surprises and happiness with each new one. I’d have to say this one is probably my favorite of season two. I just overall love the characters and the premise of being at Ryder High. This is a fun and easy read for everyone to enjoy

Always a must read author, and I LOVE this series. Season 2 continues to deliver all the feels that made me fall in love with season 1! Harper is such a realistic character, and ranks really high on my list of favorites from this series. The way she and her secret admirer navigate their sweet connection was so fun to read! These monthly stories warm my whole heart. <3

SWOON with heart eyes and all

This was by far the absolute cutest “Loves Notes” yet. It kept me guessing the whole time. I am floored….in a good way… by this story. I will say. It’s my favorite of all of this series. Both season 1 and 2. I am swooning.

Sweet Read

Another cute story from this author. These are YA but worth reading even if you’re a grandma. You will enjoy.

A super cute coach’s daughter YA read with a deaf FMC. Having read all of the other love notes book so far, this is one of my favourites. While not necessary it would definitely be beneficial to have read the rest of this seasons books before this as the side characters are a real high point in this book.

New month a new its girl and our girl Harper is up. Harper is extra fun for this month because she is deaf but that doesn't mean anything she is still a strong girl who has a great group of friends by her side. always trying to teach someone a proper way to sign something correctly with ALS but as long as they spoke slowly, she could read their lips most time. She's defiantly one of a kind, her month was so fun to read and learning how her guy adapted for her. But the best part is that Harper is a legacy from when her parents were picked to play when they were in high school at Ryder. And with her mom gone it gave Harper a small piece of her mom back and to share something so special that only a few get to experience while a student at Ryder.
