The Sin of Being Okay

Rate this book
The Sin of Being Okay is a contemplative exploration of the ever-changing landscapes of love, loss, and the search to answer the question, Who am I? The poems speak to the path forward being fraught not only with storms but also with pockets of quiet and solitude-peace and grace. They unveil a knowing that we often must walk alone through a messy and beautifully hard fog of heartache. Yet, by doing so, there is much to redemption, forgiveness, the release of the past, and a deeper understanding of-and compassion for-oneself and others.

Relaxing on my couch with coffee brewed in a mocca pot on the stove. Reading the last poems of Dawn’s recent book. So many pages marked with comments and notes to remind me of what drew me in and kept me reading. I’ll be going back to some of these. You should too. Some of my favorites were on the last five pages.

Leas pulls no punches, she invites you in with the honest of a woman who knows herself and what she needs. This collection was strong when it needed to be and tender when you weren't expecting it. The emotions and self-reflection that these poems spark, will carry forward into any reader's life.
