Spooky places, for upper elementary to middle grade readers. I'm genuinely impressed with the variety of selections here. While some extremely standard places are included, many of them are more obscure. I learned about a lot of new places, so the kids who are the target audience are going to find even more that's new to them. More than that, there's also a wide variety of places. It's not all haunted hotels and spooky houses. There's also a lot of natural eeriness and genuine historical mysteries. I'm also impressed that the author includes skepticism in at least a few places, which I don't really expect from kids' books about the weird.

A great read! There were tons of places that I had never heard of before, so I was excited to dig into more research. While I’ve never read a children’s book that mentions cannibalism multiple times before, I think this is a great resource for explorers of all ages. The images are spooky, but not graphic or terrifying. The places are described in realistic, but simple ways that are scary, but not too much.
