This is a wonderful little collection of essays that seek to develop Catholic agrarian thought more fully in the modern world. I am not a farmer and have lived my entire life in the city, but the decline of American agriculture has led to a lot of issues and problems. I also admired this book’s commitment to the principle of subsidiarity, which is an important aspect of Catholic Social Teaching that is more often than not ignored by modern-day Catholic social thinkers. The book can be a bit dry sometimes however, and I struggled to understand some portions, especially when they reference agrarian thinkers. Maybe do some light Googling before picking this one up.
This book has a very natural readability flow, full of deep and challenging words of wisdom. The library of citations throughout provides more than a masters class on the topic. Best of all, it is a road map to spiritual and cultural renaissance. By the grace of God, now is the time for us to get serious about redeeming the land, one heart and home and acre at a time,
