Welcome to Brighton Hills—where a bookshop’s grand anniversary turns deadly! Librarian-turned-sleuth Isabella Brookstone arrives in Brighton Hills to help her childhood friend celebrate her bookshop’s anniversary. But when notorious rare book expert Professor Nigel Greaves is found dead among the stacks, her bestie becomes the prime suspect.
Determined to clear her friend’s name, Isabella—alongside her mischievous cat, Whiskers, and gruff but dependable cop, Jack Larson—digs into the professor’s tangled past. He had no shortage of enemies: a ruthless antiques dealer, an accountant with shadow ledgers and a gray-coated investigator who knows more than she’s saying.
As warnings and threats escalate, Isabella realizes this isn’t just about one murder—the professor discovered something worth killing for. With the killer closing in, Isabella must unmask the culprit before she becomes the next victim.
I look forward to reading more by this author. Librarian Isabella Brookstone goes to Brighton to help her friend Lydia Ward with her bookstore anniversary. Nigel Graves, the Professor of Rare Texts and Manuscripts, is after a book donated to the Book Nook he claims was stolen from the university, even though it was never reported stolen. Strange things happen and Greaves is killed, so they work with Detective Jack Larson to figure out who killed him. Isabella goes to Brighton Hills to assist her friend Lydia with an anniversary event at her friend’s bookstore, her cat Whiskers in tow. A murder that turns out to be related to a ring involved in the theft of valuable historical objects. Fortunately, Isabella and her friends are on the case, along with her cat, of course.
