This book made me stop scrolling and start showing up. Seriously. I read it on my phone during lunch breaks, and by the end I was rethinking how I spend time with my kids. Ryan Mitchell reminds you that being a dad isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about being present enough to find them together. The personal stories were my favorite part they made me laugh, wince, and nod along. I’ve already recommended it to three friends.

I didn’t expect to laugh this much reading a parenting book! Ryan Mitchell’s voice is so refreshing — he manages to balance humor and humility without losing the deeper message. The parts about digital distractions really resonated with me. It’s scary how easy it is to lose touch when screens take over, but this book doesn’t guilt-trip you. Instead, it gives simple, realistic ways to reconnect. A must-read for any dad who’s trying his best in this crazy digital world.

I wish I had this book when I first became a dad. So many of us are trying to figure it out as we go, and Ryan Mitchell just… gets that. His writing feels authentic no judgment, just encouragement. He reminds you that leadership in a family isn’t about dominance; it’s about compassion and example. The message about presence over perfection really hit me. It’s something I’ll keep coming back to again and again.

If you’re raising kids in today’s tech-driven world, this is the guide you didn’t know you needed. Ryan Mitchell blends old-school wisdom with modern challenges especially around social media and digital boundaries. What I liked most was that it never feels preachy. It’s practical and filled with love. I finished it feeling motivated, not guilty. My favorite line? “Your kids don’t need a superhero they need you.” That one will stick with me.

Dad-O: The Connected Father is the kind of book you highlight, dog-ear, and come back to when you’re having a tough day. It’s not about being perfect it’s about staying connected and grounded in what really matters. Ryan Mitchell’s blend of humor, storytelling, and wisdom makes it an easy read with a lasting message. Whether you’re a new dad or have teens already, there’s something in here that will hit home. It reminded me that presence, patience, and love are the true marks of fatherhood.

This book should be handed out with every birth certificate. I’m not kidding it’s that useful. The mix of structure, humor, and empathy makes it stand out from anything else I’ve read. The “be prepared, not perfect” idea really stuck with me. Since reading it, I’ve started organizing small parts of my life the garage, my mornings, even my email and it’s helped more than I expected. My wife noticed. My kids noticed. That says it all.

I’ve read a ton of parenting books written for couples but not many speak to dads doing it solo. Mitchell’s mix of humor, honesty, and practicality made me feel seen. The “presence over perfection” mantra stuck with me. I started putting my phone away during dinner, and my kid noticed immediately. This book isn’t about rules; it’s about connection. And that’s what I needed.

This is one of the most grounded fatherhood books I’ve read. I loved the parts about emotional connection and modeling respect those really landed. Some chapters about digital safety went deep (I get it, phones are evil), but it’s valuable info. I appreciated that Mitchell doesn’t make dads feel guilty he just gives you better tools.

Mitchell writes like he’s sitting across from you at a coffee shop, telling stories you can actually relate to. I highlighted half the book. The best part? It’s not about being perfect or macho it’s about leading with heart and humility. I’ve already changed how I handle discipline, especially when my stepkids test me. They notice the difference too.

My daughter is only six months old, and I already feel the pressure to get everything right. This book took that weight off. Mitchell’s humor made me laugh out loud, but his message hit hard: your kids don’t need a superhero, they need you. It’s the best line in the book and probably in fatherhood. I’ll be coming back to this one for years.

I’ve been worried about my kids’ screen time for years, but never knew how to talk about it without sounding like the bad guy. Ryan gives you scripts, mindset shifts, and real strategies that actually work. We had our first “tech reset weekend” after reading this, and it was shockingly fun. If you’ve got kids glued to screens, buy this immediately.

I’ll be real I used to think being a strong dad meant being loud. This book showed me that real strength is calm control. The chapter on leading with empathy completely changed my relationship with my oldest. We actually talk now, not just argue. Thank you, Ryan Mitchell. You might’ve saved my family from years of unnecessary drama.

I read this during my lunch breaks and found myself nodding along every few pages. Mitchell has this way of validating your struggles while pushing you to do better. The section about protecting your kids from digital junk was eye-opening not just fear-based, but full of practical steps. This is the kind of book you finish and immediately hand to another dad.

Social media, work, endless noise this book showed me how to unplug and actually connect. I took Ryan’s “phone-free first hour” challenge and it’s been life-changing. My mornings are calmer, my kids are happier, and I’m not doom-scrolling before breakfast. The writing is funny, real, and makes you want to do better not out of guilt, but out of love.

Being away from my family a lot makes connection tough. I picked this up on deployment, and it honestly helped me reconnect through messages and calls in a more intentional way. Mitchell’s tone is comforting he doesn’t talk down to you. He reminds you that presence isn’t just physical, it’s emotional. Great perspective for dads everywhere.

I’m on the other side of the chaos now my youngest just started driving and this book still hit me like a ton of truth bricks. The honesty in Mitchell’s stories reminded me of my own mistakes, especially about being “physically there but mentally checked out.” His section on empathy changed how I talk to my adult kids. It’s never too late to reconnect, and this book reminded me of that.

Parenting books usually bore me to tears. This one? I laughed out loud multiple times. Ryan Mitchell somehow balances deep insight with dad-level humor the perfect combo. The part about “leading with heart, not ego” was a gut punch in the best way. My wife said she’s noticed I’m calmer with the kids. Five stars just for that alone.

This book reminded me that being a dad isn’t about biology, it’s about consistency and compassion. Mitchell writes with warmth and experience, not theory. His advice on listening before fixing has completely changed how I handle tough conversations. Every stepdad should read this.

My husband isn’t a big reader, but he couldn’t put this down. He said it felt like talking to a friend who understands how hard fatherhood can be today. The sections on digital distractions and calm leadership were eye-opening for both of us. Highly recommend for families trying to reconnect.

I grew up with a dad who was always “busy.” Reading this made me determined not to repeat that cycle. Ryan’s approach to parenting with empathy instead of control is exactly what this generation of fathers needs. It’s funny, wise, and real. This is a must-read for every dad.
