The Cotton Candy Massacre: The F-F-F-Final Chapter

Rate this book
The book you’re about to read chronicles the cataclysmic final act in a blood-drenched saga of crime, clowns, and carnage.

For those who survived the summer of slaughter, who walked away from Helloween, they think it’s over. They’re wrong. For Candy and Leigh, peace is just the calm before the scream. For Otis, curiosity’s about to drag him straight into the fire. And for Genie, the search for hope ends staring into the dark heart of hell.

The man—the monster—behind it all is back. Meaner. Madder. Ready to paint the world in red. He’s promising blood, revenge, chaos… and all of it for a live TV audience.

On New Year’s Eve, 1989, inside the decaying husk of Bonkin’s Bonanza, the decade would end in confetti and chaos. It would end in one of the most shocking televised nightmares in American history. It would end in what would come to be known as…

The series is so extremely good with gore, killer clowns and great characters. Bit sad it's the end of the series but I can always reread the series in the future.

A huge thank you to the author Christopher Robertson for the early access to his book.
This book was absolutely amazing, I could not put it down. This series as whole was absolutely brilliant, I loved the different characters throughout this series. Christopher Robertson does such an incredible job writing his characters, a making them lovable, even the villains. This book had me laughing at moments and also making me feel scared for the main characters.
I absolutely loved this book series an every single character that was part of it, I am also very sad that this series has come to an end. I want more bonko the clown.
Hopefully one day there will be more cotton candy massacre books to come.
I also cannot wait to re-read the entire series.

Please hold up those cue cards labeled APPLAUSE, because the big top lights have gone out on my all-time favorite killer clown series. The Cotton Candy Massacre: The F-F-F-Final Chapter is the grand finale, and what a finale it is!

I finished this right around New Year’s, which felt perfect since the story itself detonates on NYE 1989, exploding in a riot of fireworks and glittery blood. It left me with that bittersweet, post-curtain-call feeling of being completely satisfied, but genuinely sad it’s over. And no, I’m not just saying that because Robertson based a character on me - Rose, alongside her brother Angel (which is insanely cool) - but because I truly connected with these characters. Leigh and Candy especially stole my heart. Watching their growth over the course of the series was deeply rewarding, and I loved where they ultimately ended up.

If you’ve already survived the first three books, there’s a very high chance this final chapter will knock your clown shoes clean off. Familiar faces return, blood flows freely, and the wereclown mayhem reaches peak insanity with the resurrection of the one and only carnie crime lord: Bonko! Back, louder, and more unhinged than ever, he launches a twisted live TV spectacle where he and his wereclown children put on a grotesque broadcast packed with inventive, disgusting, and gleefully gory “tricks.”

The new clowns were an absolute blast, and Bonko’s inner circle of his clown cult adds layers of chaos that were thrilling to unravel. And of course, it wouldn’t be a proper send-off without Twizzler the raccoon making an appearance. That final twist near the end completely blindsided me. My jaw was on the floor, with popcorn everywhere! The post-credits scenes even tease the possibility of future spin-offs, and I’d honestly love to see that tent flap open again!

Overall, this is a phenomenal ending to a wildly original series. It’s equal parts gore, heartache, and dark humor. If you love unique characters, outrageous kills, and a fresh, blood-splattered take on killer clowns, I can’t recommend reading the entire series enough. Huge thanks to Christopher Robertson for creating my favorite clown saga and for including me as a character among ones I came to truly love (villains included). I’m beyond excited to see what horrifying fun you unleash next. 🤡🩸🎪

Thanks to the author for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I've definitely been grateful to have been gifted so many of these ARCs, because it has become my absolute favorite clown horror series to date.

The F-F-F-Final Chapter was such a fun conclusion to the series. I loved the callbacks to previously surviving characters. I love the character growth of Leigh and Candy. As usual, Christopher really knows how to elicit an emotional connection to these characters we have grown to love across the span of the series. There were also extremely violent and gory parts that left me cringing and made me want to throw up. I also LOVED the little post-credits scenes, and there were a few surprises there that (hopefully) left the door open for more spinoffs from this series. I do have to say, I was a little confused at times with who some of the characters were - the review of the previous novels were nice, but I feel like an index or glossary of the characters with their connection to Bonko might have been helpful. They did come back to me after a moment though, so it wasn't the end of the world.

I'm sad to see the series come to a conclusion, but I'm definitely glad it happened! As always, if you love or hate clowns, love extreme horror, and also enjoy stories with characters you fall in love with, check out this series. You won't be disappointed!

F-f-f-fantastic! F-f-f-fun! F-f-f-final!

I love this series: the chaos, the clowns, the carnage.

The vibes scream nostalgia and make me ache for a time that is gone. Funny how even a horror can pull those emotions.

I loved jumping back into this world. The returning characters that survived the previous books had me on edge, I needed them to live.

We’ve been on a journey with Leigh and Candy since the beginning so watching them grow from book to book had me in my feels.

This is the conclusion and what a f-f-f-final chapter it was! I feel it wrapped up the story quite well, if a little messy 👀

I took my time reading this because I didn’t want it to end. 😭

The BEST book series in the world - and that's the toot tootin' truth!

The perfect finale to the series, with the usual inventive kills, laugh-out-loud moments and enough gore make your stomach backflip.

Everything was wrapped in such a neat bow too!

You need to read this f-f-f-fuckin' series!

As sad as it is to say goodbye to this world, it was fantastic to get to live in it one more time. While this isn't my favourite entry in the series, it's still a clown fuelled, carnage filled, rip roaring good time! It's got all the returning characters who have survived up to this point, including Twizzler (If you know, you know) along with some new deranged ones! There's also references to 'Sewer Sharks' in here that got me giddy as I always welcome a nod to another one of my favourite books ever. All in all this was a very fitting conclusion to one of my all-time favourite literary series... And that's the toot-tootin' truth. Ay-Yup!

A curtain call for my all time favorite clown series!

The first Cotton Candy Massacre book was pure magic to me and instantly captured my attention. It's what instantly turned me into a fan of Robertson's writing. I've followed the story of these characters for the past few years and it comes to a bittersweet finale with the Final Chapter. Its sad to see this series and all its characters take a final bow but Robertson makes sure that the story goes out on a high note.

Plenty of cringe inducing gory (and gross) scenes and witty humor are to be found much like the other installments. What runs through this book in particular though is an undercurrent of dark finality. The author makes it clear; this is the end of the saga. So enjoy seeing your favorite characters on the big screen one last time because you never know who's gonna bite it in spectacular fashion.

The clown carnage is back and as fun as ever. The way Robertson writes his clowns just puts a smile on my face and I could read about them doing sadistic and abhorrent acts of violence with a shit eating grin plastered on their faces or a crazy yet cutesy laugh bubbling from their painted mouths. Violence is sudden, brutal and entertaining which is to be expected for a book in the CCM universe.

What I loved most was seeing returning characters from previous novels . Seeing their character development and individual journeys come to this point has been a real treat and their interactions were as page turning as the carnage for me. Robertson does not forget or push to the wayside events that happened in previous books. Deceased characters, plot points and scenery are revisited and referenced and it was great to see that continuity. Even though these things happened what feels like so long ago when I first started reading this series, these are major events for the characters in the story so it makes sense that they have heavy and life altering effects for them and I appreciate when such things are still delved into this late in the series.

This book really recaptured some of the magic that was in the first novel and although I would have liked a little more explanations on some of the more supernatural elements, I can't blame the author for not giving us a full peek behind the curtain and leaving some of that mystery for the reader to ponder on. Fantastic book. Amazing series. I love clowns.

"I wanted to write clowns that were actually clowns - not some guy in a mask. They had to embody what it means to be a clown, to have that absurdity and unpredictability woven into their very essence. The had to make you laugh, make you uneasy, make you wonder just how far things could go in the name of entertainment" -Christopher Robertson

I'd say he achieved his goal completely. He makes his clowns unique, scary, chaotic and entertaining and that is why he is my favorite author when it comes to clowns. He perfectly captures their essence and deserves all the blood soaked confetti in the world for it.

All the characters we've met along the way, the funny yet dark and twisted world of The Cotton Candy Massacre, and all the staff at Bonko's Bonanza take their final bow to a standing ovation riotous applause.

Well, he only f-f-f-flipping did it...one of the most inventive and fresh series I've ever seen from an indie author all wrapped up in a very satisfactory manner - and with plenty of guts, gore and clowns thrown in.

This book isn't afraid to go big for its climax. The set-pieces are a mess in the most complimentary way - expect body parts, fluids, devious and unwinnable games, and a general feeling that all bets are off. It's like the most messed up carnival of your nightmares...and then a little bit scarier than that.

I was impressed at how the author pulled together all of the threads he'd been weaving throughout the previous entries to this series and made it all land, while still giving us a wholly new story that isn't simply treading back over old ground. Unsurprisingly, given what this author has shown us in the past, this book is highly cinematic yet the action still leaps off the page and slaps you in the face. It's technicolour, it's IMAX, it's bombastic and a hell of a lot of f-f-f-fun.

But all that action would only go so far without a cast of well-drawn characters that you want to root for, and we have them here. You'll go through a rollercoaster with them all - you might even feel sympathy for some of the clowns at some point too - and it's the potential fates of these folk that kept me coming back for more of this story.

Oh, and Twizzler the raccoon is back too, and he slams.

Overall, a highly commendable end to a bold, bloody and ambitious series. F-f-f-fantastic work!

Clowns clowns clowns

So the final chapter of this awesome series and this read has lived up to the series. A great, fascinating and unique storyline, that captures bongos essence. His evil presence that quashed anyone or thing that gets in his way. The gore, blood, rot and utter brutality throughout, has you immersed into the world of so many clowns and wereclowns that will have you seeing clowns I. A different light forever. The fight with characters from the very beginning and new, the battle is tough, violent and bloody.
A great read, with a great ending, what more could you want.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to read an 80s style action/horror story starring a one eyed, smart mouthed, punk who once again has to deal with an invasion of cotton candy infected wereclowns? Well, you’re in luck, because that’s exactly what this is!

This book was everything I was hoping for. Witty banter, violent deaths, intense action scenes, a sugar loving raccoon, and some very touching and emotional moments.

I loved watching all of these plot lines coalesce into a wonderful send off to a series I’ve been following for years.

I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

Sad to have finished the final book in my favorite horror series.

It was fun read and brought back all the 80s nostalgia that I love in these books. 80s horror will always be superior.

We got the whole crew back together, well everyone who was still alive and brought me back to the first book that made me love the series.

This is a gore heavy book so that is your content warning Christopher doesn’t hold back on anything.

I did read the Post Credits though 😉

I am so sad this is the final book, and I sincerely hope there is a spinoff. The way this entire series is written is SO fun. The 80's slasher vibes are amazing. The writing is so unserious and it is just an overall phenomenally fun time.

This last one starts off with a very cinematic prologue that could honestly be a novella on its own. It also had QUITE the plot twist in there! I was expecting that connection to come back to someone else, but it wrapped up the series pretty nicely, actually.

I always find myself reading books and wishing they were longer! I am sure it is equal parts that I don't want to leave the story, but also, Robertson could drag this story out longer and still keep me super engaged. It felt almost too fast-paced to me, like it almost left me behind at times.

Either way, I recommend these to everyone who loves horror/80s slasher films, and I will absolutely be reading them all again from the top! Encore!!
