But when Nicole and Marie are kidnapped by a ruthless Russian mercenary, they must work together to find a way to escape. The only thing they can’t escape is falling in love.
so it’s a compelling plot that had me on the edge of my seat, but there was a whole lot of tell and not show when it came to characterization. everyone got one or two traits to be their personality and otherwise they existed to move the plot forward. very ripped from the headlines feel. crucially, not really a romance novel! there is a romance but it plays out in the background of the A plot
This story takes place in the middle of the Ukrainian war. The characters, the story, the depth of both is wonderful and painful. As a Veteran, I caution anyone with in-country experience, that no matter what conflict you lived through, this will shake the memories. For all other readers, this is a must read
