For Fans of Sarah J Maas and Callie Hart!!

In the heart of the Fae realm, duty and destiny are about to collide.

Nyla has never fit neatly inside her gilded cage of royal expectations. Royalty bound by tradition, not choice, she’s expected to marry the honorable Lord Brayan. But Brayan’s unexpected kindness stirs emotions Nyla never thought she'd feel again, and begins to blur the lines between duty and desire.

Still, the shadows of her past linger. Faces of friends she's not allowed to remember, a winged figure she wishes she could forget, his presence carved into her soul. Nyla is torn, not just between two hearts, but between two versions of herself. The obedient royal and the rebellious young Faery who once dreamed of flying.

As she uncovers the wild magic slumbering beneath her skin, whispers of war reach the castle gates. When she learns that her closest friends are in grave danger, her carefully ordered world begins to crumble.

Haunted by memory, hunted by fate, and caught between a crown and a curse, Nyla must choose who she is, before the realm chooses for her.

I don't normally read this genre, but am so grateful that a friend pointed me to this book. What a surprisingly delightful read!

Aislinn C Claire has masterfully succeeded in creating a magical world, so tangible that you can "see" every aspect of it while reading. She does this without drawn-out descriptions and going down rabbit-holes, allowing the reader to help create the realm in a way that keeps it both mystical and real. Her characters have wondrous shapes and powers--but are so credible; they feel like your sister, your mother, your family, friends, and foes.

Like us today, Nyla, Banks, and the rest of the cast live in highly divided world, fraught with false loyalties. As two converging timelines unfold at breakneck speed, each character has to examine their own values and dig deep to find the courage needed to do the right thing.

I was spellbound throughout this amazing adventure, often finding myself trying to read faster and faster--but careful to not miss a word!

I can't wait for Islands of the Forgotten Court (and hopefully more to come) ... and for someone to pick up the movie rights!

An exquisitely built world, unforgettable characters, and a mythology that feels truly alive.
This book absolutely floored me. What begins as a fantasy with political tension quickly unfolds into something far deeper and more immersive: a story layered with ancient lore, intricate magic, and personal stakes that only grow sharper with every chapter.
The world-building is phenomenal. The author doesn’t rely on info dumps; instead, the history of the realm, the forgotten religions, the hidden tunnels, and the fractured politics are revealed piece by piece, always at the perfect moment. It feels like uncovering lost scripture — mysterious, dangerous, and enthralling.
But the heart of this novel is Nyla.
Her character arc is one of the most compelling I’ve read in a long time. She’s not a typical chosen-one princess, she’s a girl raised inside a gilded cage, struggling to reconcile the affection she once believed in with the manipulation, secrecy, and emotional coercion woven into her family. Her relationship with her parents is chilling and heartbreaking in equal measure, and watching her slowly peel back the lies surrounding her origins is gripping.
The tension of her entanglement with the kingdom’s politics, the way she’s pulled between duty, fear, love, rebellion, and the terrifying truths buried beneath her own identity, creates a constant hum of dread and anticipation. Every revelation lands with weight.
This story juggles so many threads without ever dropping one: ancient prophecies, forgotten magical races, political schemes, class tension, family trauma, forbidden love, betrayal, and awakening. Each storyline feeds the others, weaving a tapestry that’s as emotionally rich as it is mythologically satisfying.
A standout fantasy. A gripping character journey. And a world I can’t stop thinking about.

This book is well written and accomplishes so much in world building and atmosphere from the get go that it's impossible not to get pulled in.

It's an escape from tradition and a journey of self discovery through a world of magic and fantasy!

A great read; for adults as well as older teens. It's well written and not smutty, whilst being romantic as well. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
