Witching You #3

Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem

Rate this book
Two magical rivals. One marriage of inconvenience. And an enchanted key that could erase everything…

Valerie Spellman believes in holiday miracles—twinkle lights, true love, and the occasional glitter bomb to get the job done. But all the festive magic ends at the feet of Grant Delaney. He’s her insufferable coworker and the heir to the miracle agency empire, who can melt a peppermint stick with a grin and a single blue-eyed stare. Not that she’d ever admit it.

For two years, they’ve turned every assignment into a festive showdown. But at last year’s Snow and Sand company retreat, a disastrous team-building exercise left them stranded on the couples side of the island—just in time for a moonlit ceremony, a case of mistaken identity, and one very real magical marriage.

Heartfelt vows? Not a chance. But there was a vow of silence, and a promise to stay out of each other’s way, thanks to a binding three-year clause of wedded bliss before either can dissolve the deal.

Now, one year later, fate—and one matchmaking ghost—throws them back together. The challenge? Restore holiday cheer to a haunted banquet hall before Christmas Eve. The prize? A powerful enchanted key that can rewrite any holiday mistake.

They both want the key.
They both want out of their magical marriage.
But the more fake-mistletoe moments and not-so-fake kisses they share, the harder it is to remember why undoing their past ever seemed like the plan—when a future together might be the real miracle.

This is officially my first Christmas book of the year and I'm so happy that the author granted me an arc! I finished this book on my way to work and I had just a huge smile on my face.

The beginning of the book felt a little weird. My mind has some issues connecting tropical circumstances with Christmas. However, once I finished the first part of the book and things started to feel a little more traditionally Christmas-y I enjoyed the story immensely!

That's firstly because the characters are both wonderful! They have their distinct personalities, they have their own challenges, they have their own worries and needs. I watched them growing towards each other and realising more and more how much they actually liked each other.

I also liked the case that brought them together. It was a little spooky, it was a little scary, and yet it was also mostly about love. I really enjoyed how the case unfolded, how things came together in the end and how there was so much Christmas cheer in the finale!

I hope there will be a new one next year!

This book has every element that I love in a book. What I loved the most is the banter. The banter was the perfect amount of banter and I couldn’t get enough of it. This book honestly can be read for Halloween and Christmas with the haunting portion of the book.

From start to finish this book had me smiling and laughing. There were a few cringe worthy parts but so worth having in the book.

This book has characters that you can’t help but love and to follow. I want more if I’m honest.

This book has many twists and turns you didn’t see coming, while a few parts you did.

For me the banter made this book along with the characters. Both Valarie and Grant are two very stubborn and independent characters. Having them work together was a hot mess. In the end they were able to connect in ways they needed and didn’t see coming.

Just a feel good and fun filled book. I highly recommend. Thank you Jenna for allowing me to arc read! I hope to see more.

Thrilled to receive this ARC! This was such a fun read for me. The banter had me giggling and the story was different than your typical holiday romcom which I loved. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump but found that this had me wanting to read more and more! The enemies to lovers was lovely.

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone which is what I did. I will definitely be going back to read the others!

Enemies to lovers.
Forced proximity.
He falls first?

First off, this book was just.. so cute! It was also my first ARC book! And I’m SO glad it was!!

Witchy female trying to break her curse of not being able to find love, while being somewhat of a Cupid for a job and being able to give others love.

Stuck on a work retreat where HR forces the MFC and the MMC to bond and spend entirety of the trip together due to them always being at each others throats when it comes to normal working situations.

Given a cardboard cup of cocoa???😂😂

This writer’s descriptions of things are absolutely perfect for me. Simple and beautiful. Normally it takes time for me to understand a writers description, but with hers it’s like.. I’m the one describing it?

Overall, this book made me want to get the two before it cause… yes I read the 3rd book before the others. And I instantly fell in love with this I can’t wait to read the first two!

I loved this book!
This was my first book read by Jenna Collett AND it was an ARC read. When I first received this, I didn't know it was book three. I did a quick search and found out they are all stand alone's, so I proceeded to reading.
This was such an enjoyable read. Fantastic banter between the fmc and mmc. Enemies to Lovers. Fated Mates. Christmas Vibes. Haunted Love Story.
I couldn't put this down! Must read! I will definitely be reading more from this author!

Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem by Jenna Collett is a bewitching Fantasy rom-com with an independent “Ice Princess” FMC who is losing her meet- cute magic who accidentally marries her arch nemesis : the seemingly light-hearted jokester, playboy, heir of the snowbelt. Now the two of them need to keep their marriage a secret in order to work together at the agency and team up together to solve a long forgotten mystery at a haunted mansion over the holidays. Oh… and she hates ghosts!
I initially thought it was going to be a typical grumpy/sunshine plot line , where he was the sunshine. However I was wrong. I also thought he was going to fall hard for her first and try to convince her to stay in their marriage. That didn’t happen either. Both characters were quite stubborn in not wanting the other to know their true feelings. That was frustrating. I wish one of them opened up to the other about their feelings sooner in the book. I can only take hidden feelings for so long. But I think that is also part of the characters. The FMC is hiding that her magic is glitching, she isn’t used to opening up and sharing. Over time the MMC is realizing his role is changing at his family’s business and they are shaping him to be someone other than himself.
I did like that the part of their marriage contract was to do things for each other and they actually took that seriously. I feel like that’s what started to soften their hearts for each other and realize they did, in fact, want their marriage to be real.
I also loved that they were the first to befriend the ghost, well Valerie was! And because of that, her and Grant worked together to solve the mystery. I feel it gave her the confidence to stick up for herself to his family … so they could finally be together in the end! I love a HEA.

So finally a year after hiking in the jungle, falling in a hole, twisting her ankle, accidentally getting married to her sassy snowbelt enemy and then having to live in a haunted house with a ghost (and said enemy) she finally found her soulmate… and got her magic back!
I would recommend reading this book if you like a good whimsy rom-com. It is low on spice, but she does have a bonus scene that you can choose spice versus no spice. This book is more for readers who like witty, closed door romance, or Romantasy. Or just want a break in between all the spicy books! Either way it’s still a recommended read from me. I intend to continue reading her books. You can’t find witchy Christmas rom-coms like hers just anywhere!
This book earns 4/5 stars for me. Which is good, because I am very picky on my 5 star reads.

The vibes:
- enemies / rivals
- Book 3 in interconnected series
- Fake friends
- Physical focused
- Secret marriage
- Instalove
- Fade to black

My thoughts:
The plot overall had a lot going on. I listed all the main tropes up above to give you a good idea of just how much was going on. There’s a witch agency, magic on the fritz, and a mysterious ghost haunting. There were some light Christmas elements but it almost felt more of a Halloween read for me. The ghost haunting gave me chills at one point- like creepy chills down my back not like romantic chills (I’m a softie and wasn’t expecting that). 😆 🙈

This relationship felt mostly focused on the physical side with very little emotional connection. There were mentions of love and feelings, but it mostly didn’t feel earned to me. There was a moment when Grant was thinking about some fun moments he wanted to share with Valerie. Then it was immediately followed by something like “Mostly I wanted her to loosen my tie and let me kiss her”. That ultimately felt like the overall vibe of the book. They had the hots for eachother while hating eachother for most of the book, but then suddenly loved eachother while still having the hots for eachother. I wanted more focus to the plot, more emotional connection, and more direct communication. 🙈

If you’re looking for a witchy, ghost haunting quick read with a physical focused couple, try this. I really enjoyed the previous two books in the series, and I’ve enjoyed other books from this author so even though this one wasn’t for me, I still look forward to what’s next from Jenna.

Note - fade to black

I'm a sucker for banter and there is certainly plenty of banter and snark in this book. Valerie and Grant would rather hex each other than share a gingerbread house, and honestly? Relatable. Do you remember the "Get Along" T-shirts where you put two kids that are arguing into one shirt, until they learn to 'get along'? Well Valerie and Grant have it out for each other so badly that HR effectively puts them in a get along shirt and forces them to partner up and stay next to each other for an entire work retreat. The only problem? Valerie's meet-cute magic is glitching. When she hears about a potential cure on the island, there's no stopping her, but she's not really the best equipped for a jungle adventure to find a magical cure. What could go wrong, right? Apparently, a whole lot because when Grant goes in search of her these two end up covered in mud and accidentally married on the other side of the island.

A year later they've managed to keep the marriage a secret, but working together is making it harder than ever. Valerie and Grant are both stubborn, independent and ultimately lonely so when the opportunity to solve a case and earn a magical key comes up Valerie decides this is her chance to fix everything. Grant, however, isn't about to let her face a haunted inn and an upset ghost all on her own though.

I received an ARC copy of Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem and loved it. Honestly, this is such a fun, feel good, fade to black, holiday read, perfect for the period time between Halloween and Christmas. So, if you enjoy cozy mystery vibes, holiday mayhem and more shenanigans than you can shake your candy cane at checkout Jenna Collett's Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem.

I love an accidental marriage and this one comes with magical clauses. Despite excelling at making meet-cute magic for others, Valerie’s magic is on the fritz when it comes to her own love life. When she accidentally stumbles into a magically binding wedding ceremony with her work nemesis Grant, they jokingly exchange vows and find that they are now bound in unhappy matrimony for the next two years. No amount of calls to the customer service menu loop will free them and they hope they can just spend the next two years quietly ignoring each other until they can get an annulment.

Unfortunately for them, next Christmas finds the pair in a haunted inn (after he rushed off to protect her), trying to figure out why there is an angry ghost throwing a tantrum every Christmas. Perhaps the ghost is a bit of a romantic themselves?

A cute, charming, witchy holiday read, Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem excels at banter and holiday snark. This book is a perfect evening read by the fire and with a cup of cocoa and some candy canes. I have loved quite a few of Jenna’s other books and this brings the same snark and humor I’ve grown to expect. This book is also low spice, fade to black, but readers can get a bonus epilogue on Jenna’s website that comes in both a spicy and non-spicy version.

This is a magical rom com. Grant and Valerie have the kind of great banter as enemies that probably has everyone around them going “just kiss already!” Maybe not the best set up for a real world relationship, but as far as books go, it's always great for laughs and giant “awwwwws” when they finally start to realize they don’t actually hate the other person.

Thanks to Jenna Collett for an advanced review copy.

Thank you to the author for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars, rounded up

I. Loved. This. Book. It was so cute and sweet and cheesy. Everything I needed in a holiday romance. I didn’t want it to end, and I will definitely be reading the rest of this author’s books. The humor is clever, the setting is so well-written, and the enemies-to-lovers trope was refreshingly nontoxic.

I could have used more plot, personally. This book is pretty short, and I thought it could have used more details to flesh out the storyline, but that’s my only complaint.

I’m SO glad I read this book. Pick it up, you won’t regret it!!!

arc review- This was my first book by this author. We meet Valerie, who is slowly losing her magical abilities and she cant figure out why. She cant let anyone know especially not her annoying nemesis Grant whose grandfather owns the company she works for. They say there is a fine line between love and hate, and it couldn’t be truer for this couple! When they hate it’s strong, but when they love it’s stronger. A little forced proximity, accidental marriage, a misjudged ghost, and a mystery. It all ends with a HEA and a bonus honeymoon scene!

Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem by Jenna Collett

Thank you Jenna Collett for the ARC!

I enjoyed parts of this book very much. I loved the characters and the ghost story line; it was a great way to bring the 2 MC's together. I liked the dual pov, forced proximity and accidental marriage.
It would have been a 4 star book except I felt that it was actually closer to a miscommunication trope than enemies to lovers(or hate to love) and I am just not a fan of slow burn. I also loved the "I hate Valerie Spellman" list, it felt like a nod to 10 Things I Hate About You.

This was such a sweet and charming read! Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem had all the cozy vibes I wanted — a little bit of magic and a touch of romance.

What really surprised me…..the fun little ghost story woven into the plot! It added a playful, unexpected twist that made the story even more enjoyable. Absolutely a great read and I highly recommend if you are looking for light, festive, witchy, and just the right amount of spooky!

This was my first holiday paranormal romance (?). I think that's what it would be called. I liked it quite a lot. It was fun and lighthearted. It didn't take itself too seriously. I liked the characters and the various cute settings, from tropical holiday to classic New England Christmas. I don't usually like ghosts, but as this one was of the Hallmark variety, I didn't mind it.

I received this book as an arc. Thank you so much!

I'll be completely honest in saying the beginning of this book had me not looking forward to reading the rest. I didn't instantly get the enemy energy the two main characters were giving. Luckily, it comes together in the book and it ended up being super cute!! I loved the enemies to lovers (once it came together), forced proximity, the witty banter and even the cold case solving! Definitely a fun, cute Christmas book with witches!

ARC Review: Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem

This was such a fun and surprisingly heartfelt read! The story balances mystery, magic, and romance in a way that feels both cozy and exciting. Grant and Valerie are the kind of characters who quietly grow on you—by the end, I was completely invested in their relationship. Their chemistry really shines, especially in the small moments like solving the mystery side by side or cooking breakfast together (those scenes were adorable and grounding amidst all the mayhem!).

The book blends comedy, thriller, and rom-com vibes seamlessly—it’s witty, a little spooky, and full of charm. I especially appreciated the solid character development; both leads evolve naturally as the story unfolds. The ending tied things together nicely, leaving me satisfied but still wanting more time with these two.

A perfect seasonal read for anyone who enjoys a bit of magic with their mystery and romance.

What a cute romance book!!! I received this as an ARC and quickly realized it was part of a series. So I read the first two books before this and I’m glad I did! It helped me to understand the concept behind the magic and Christmas miracles.

I loved this couple so much! The little banter had me smiling to myself like an idiot! Not really a fan of ghosts and kinda freaked myself out for a little bit but everything wrapped up with a bow and mistletoe 💝

I loved this book! Jenna is so good at writing books where I feel like the characters are so likable and real! This book is chock full of wit and banter and the it’s-always-been-you yearning and tension is so, so good. It reads like a Hallmark Christmas special but with a haunted Inn and a mystery to solve. It’s fresh and I loved every minute of it! This book is closed door romance and as I mentioned before, the yearning and tension is delicious. You will enjoy this book if you like Christmas romances but you’re okay either way a little spooky (I didn’t find the haunted Inn to be too scary and I do NOT enjoy scary!), rivals to lovers, hate to love, accidental marriage (NOT fake marriage, iykyk!), slow burn (but he’s always had it for her!), and a bit of magic.✨
Thank you to the author for the eARC. This voluntary review is my honest thoughts and opinions about the book. I hope you pick this book up for this Holiday Season! I think it’s the perfect book for between Halloween and Christmas.
I don’t think my quote choices are too spoilery, but if you don’t want to know ANYTHING going into the book then just skip this selection of some of my favorite quotes!

Here’s a few of my fave quotes:

“…but he just slung an arm around my shoulder and tucked me against his side. Honestly, that was somehow creepier. Especially since, for all his teasing about my height, my shoulder slotted perfectly under his arm, as if fate were playing a joke like, "See here, kids—this is how the height difference trope happens."”

“This was what we did. We electrified the water and provoked each other to dip our toes in. It was hot. It was so wrong. And it did break my heart.”

“I was not spiraling over a maybe-kiss, that definitely would have sucked—obviously—with the man who had a Valerie Spellman is the Worst checklist. My teeth sank into my bottom lip. I did love a good checklist, though. No. Focus!”

“You’re very helpful for a fake husband.” “Accidental,” I corrected, sliding in behind her. “There’s a difference.” She went still, the back of her sweater brushing my chest, the closeness wrecking what was left of my resolve. “Oh, yeah?” she said, her voice thin. “What’s the difference then?” “Fake implies none of it’s real.”

“…of knowing someone at their worst and finally breaking through to see them at their best. The way they’d been the whole time.”

“It was literally my job to recognize and nurture love, and instead of actually telling Grant I loved him, I’d delivered a masterclass in emotional miscommunication. I was the trope everyone hated.”

A Match Made in Mayhem (or, How to Accidentally Marry Your Rival)

Valerie is all sunshine, sparkles, and Cupid-level charm, while Grant is pure snow, calm, and the definition of “fun with frostbite.” The two have been rivals at work for as long as anyone can remember—Valerie’s bright optimism clashes perfectly with Grant’s cool composure. But when the company’s annual teamwork retreat rolls around, the board has had enough of their bickering and decides the ultimate punishment (or maybe blessing): they’re officially partners during the retreat.

Valerie is determined to land a spot on the new elite team at work, but her magic has been fizzling lately. Her real mission for the retreat is to reach the legendary Wishing Waterfall and set things right. Grant, meanwhile, just wants to be accepted by his family and is tired of being compared to his late cousin. His grandfather’s constant pressure doesn’t help.

When Valerie disappears during a team outing, Grant goes looking for her—and finds her stuck, muddy, and sporting a sprained ankle at the bottom of a hill. By the time they make it to the other side of the island, Grant’s got a sprained finger, they’re both drenched, and chaos has officially begun. They walk into a wedding, luckily delayed by bad weather—but in true Valerie-and-Grant fashion, things somehow get even messier.

Continuing to argue Valerie takes & slips on Grant’s signet ring… and boom—instant magical marriage contract. Iron clad. Two years minimum. Neither of them is thrilled, and they part ways determined to forget the whole thing… but Valerie made the team is now working for Grant.

What follows is two years of hilarious misadventures, workplace tension, and holiday mayhem. From mishaps to magical mishandlings, this story delivers non-stop charm and chaos in equal measure.

If you love rivals-to-lovers, accidental marriages, and a sprinkle of enchantment, this book is pure delight. It’s fast-paced, funny, and heartwarming—with just enough mischief to keep you smiling all the way through.

You're just a meet-cute matchmaker witch looking for your own love. A hopeless romantic with a "soulmate" list.
She's the gorgeous coworker that's a constant thorn in your side. There's no shortage of her fiery comebacks to make you miserable- but that spark has never made you feel so alive.
Valerie & Grant are you quintessential enemies to lovers with enough fire & passion in their bites you'd wish someone would just spray water on them already- to chill for like a sec.

But in true Christmas magic fashion these 2 are forced to "play nice" resulting in an unplanned & unexpected marriage. As part of their binding nuptials these 2 are stuck with each other for a minimum of 2yrs- but there's a catch- due to the power of the marriage contract that they literally stumbled into they also have to compete couples goals, otherwise another 2yrs get added to their contract.
Desperate to restore her magic & find a way out of this marriage, Valerie decides to take on a code case with a reward that could be the solution to all her problems. But as Valerie's "husband" Grant decides to follow her to help solve this haunted holiday mystery. Being snowed in at a hunted inn with nothing but your husband, a haunted spirit with unfinished business & your thought of how hot your "husband" is? Sparks are bound to ignite.

Witching You a Mistletoe and Mayhem by Jenna Collett is the magical holiday rom-com I didn’t know I needed, and now I want a whole series of witchy Christmas retreats.

This story follows Valerie Spellman, a witch matchmaker with one tiny problem—her magic works perfectly on everyone except herself. Every time she meets someone cute? Poof. Disaster. So when she hears rumors of a waterfall that can fix her “little glitch,” she sneaks off to find it… without telling anyone. Not even Grant Delaney, the grumpy-but-soft-on-the-inside heir to Meet-Cute Maker who’s been driving her up the wall since day one.

Thanks to HR (honestly the real villain 😂), Valerie and Grant are forced to spend the entire retreat glued together. What starts as irritation slowly shifts into chemistry so good it practically crackles. And when Valerie’s secret solo mission goes wrong and she ends up injured and missing, Grant is the one who drops everything to find her.

Their little rescue adventure? Ends with them accidentally reciting wedding vows at a magical retreat and waking up married. With a two-year clause. With no undo button. And honestly? I was living for it.

This book had:
✨ forced proximity
✨ holiday magic
✨ grumpy/sunshine
✨ accidental marriage (!!)
✨ sweet chemistry with the perfect pinch of banter
✨ and that small-town cozy vibe that makes you want hot cocoa immediately

Valerie is chaotic in the best way, Grant is secretly a cinnamon roll, and together they are pure holiday mayhem. The romance felt heartfelt, the magic added the perfect whimsical glitter, and the pacing kept me hooked.

If you love witchy rom-coms, holiday retreats gone rogue, and “oops we’re married” chaos, this one needs to be on your December TBR.

This was my first Christmas book of the season and I’m so happy that this author allowed me to have an arc copy. The book is meant to be a Christmas book but it can be read during Halloween due to the haunting portion. I finished this book in a day. This book was so enjoyable I couldn’t put it down. The book is part of a series however, this book is able to be read as a stand alone.

This book was full of banter and I couldn’t get enough of it. The book contained many twists and turns as well. The book starts off in the sunny weather of the tropics, then transitions to a year later, in the cold snowy east coast but then ends back in the sunny tropics, where it all began.

At first when I started to read the book I was confused, because when I read the blurb, it lead me to believe that the marriage happened prior to the start of the book. The further I read in the book, the more I understood why the author started on the tropical island, before the marriage, and then moved to a year later on the east coast. The author did a wonderful job explaining the characters feeling for each other.

The characters were honest and it was hard not to love them all. Valerie and Grant were both stubborn and independent characters who complimented each other. The two characters were a hot mess when it came to working together. In the end, the main characters found ways to connect that were necessary and they didn’t see coming.

Over all I really enjoyed this story and will highly recommend this book. This was the first book I’ve read by this author but I can say that it certainly will not be the last. Thank you for allowing me the pleasure of reading this arc.

If you love rivals-to-lovers, accidental marriages, this book was so much fun to read. It's fast-paced, funny, and heartwarming-with enough mischief to keep you smiling all the way through.
I loved reading this and definitely recommend.

Valerie and Grant are rivals at work. Valerie has clawed her way to the top and resents Grant because she feels he only got the job because it’s his family's company. Grant was not supposed to be the grandson to lead the helm and feels as if he is the piece of the puzzle that doesn’t quite fit.

The board of directors has decided that they will no longer tolerate the two of them bickering and have made them partners at this year’s company retreat. Neither is happy about that, but especially Valerie. Her magic has been fading, and she knows that if anyone finds out, she will lose the job she loves. She has plans to go to the waterfalls and gain her magic back. Fate has a sense of humor and not only does she not get her magic back, she ends up accidentally married to Grant. The fine print being they have to stay married for two years.

Fast forward a year and Grant is heading up the new cold case division. Valerie has moved to join the cold case team and has decided to take on the case that no other agent has been able to solve. In fact, it’s the case that has left every agent on it traumatized. Grant joins her because he can’t stand the thought of something happening to her.

What happens when a couple in an accidental secret marriage go to a haunted inn and end up having a ghost as a third wheel to both of you figuring out your relationship? You have to pick this book up to find out.

I had a hard time putting this one down because the banter between the two main characters is so good! Thanks to the author for an advanced copy.

•My Thoughts•
This had so many bits and pieces that were so fun but ultimately I didn’t enjoy the way everything came together. The premise of this world is fun and super quirky with witches performing Christmas miracles. It’s corny in a Hallmark way which I *can* enjoy when in the mood, but this felt over the top. Despite having a few good moments, most of the banter between the main characters annoyed me and I struggled to understand their “I hate you but I could kiss you” vibes. I really wanted more emotional depth between the characters and I felt like the story relied on their implied past to give that connection but I just didn’t feel it. The pacing was a bit off for me too with the first half feeling slow and the second seeming to fly. At around 250 pages, this is almost novella length and I think if I had read it as a novella I might have enjoyed it more since I have different expectations for those in regards to development and pace. I’ve read another book by this author and really LOVED it but ultimately, this one missed the mark for me.

Thank you to Jenna Collett for the early copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

📚Series Notes: I jumped right into this series at book 3 and I wasn’t lost with the world and felt like it stood well on its own.
