Piper Scott debuted as a trio of authors looking to write together for fun. Their collaboration led to three novella-length books (Love Me, Save Me, and Keep Me,) before life sent them in different directions, leaving just one author with an omegaverse plot bunny that wouldn’t leave her alone. Obey was born several months later… but the plot bunny never left—it multiplied.
Left to her own devices, Piper Scott writes scorching but heartfelt contemporary omegaverse romance about men you can’t help but fall in love with.
HIS COMMAND - Complete Series. Passions, kinks, caring couples...
Five omegaverse tales of deep passions, Mpreg, BDSM, D/s.
OBEY: Completely captivating couple ! Omega Owen, 22, and Alpha Crawford, is 32. Owen is sad, lonely and troubled, but has come a long way. He is a counselor for other Omegas. Crawford, businessman, wants to take care of Owen. He’s not a typical Alpha, and their courtship is marvelous. A terrific Dom/sub with a twist. The Shepard club is where their needs began.
BEG: Alpha Marcus, Criminal Lawyer, 39, and Omega Lucian, 21. An omega’s sad past, and Marcus is missing what he craves. Marcus is lost in personal loneliness, no challenges to spur him, when he meets Lucian, who is a survivor of sex trafficking, who starts bar-tending at The Shepard. BDSM, suspension, blindfold, bondage, D/s, explicit, rawness and passion mixes with power.
STAY: Younger Adrian, sassy, troubled soul is reaching for the wrong solution. Sterling, owner of The Shepard kink club, has never found his need met. A deep story of Adrian’s guilt in losing his brother, Gabriel, plus Sterling sees something in Adrian he wants, something he can sooth. Also they deal with Adrian’s folks, and the pain of loss. Wild BDSM, caning, Bondage, humiliation, and more. Marvelous epilogue for these men, and their new family bond.
HEAL: We learn so much about Gabriel, 21, back from being a sex slave. Nothing has worked to change his brainwashed thinking, Sterling tries a new way. Cedric, 25, a trained Dom, tattooed and pierced, says yes to taking Gabriel as a client. Each man is complicated, and has been through a lot in their young lives. Pain, grief, loss, and then rediscovery. It’s tender and overwhelming.
* These tales are compelling, soul-searching, heart wrenching pasts, some violence, gritty, highly sexual, along with hope, patience, understanding and met with TLC. This is an M/M omegaverse, Mpreg set.
* More to come as this is a five story set.... these should be read in order. Next up is Oli, down-on-his-luck, and the mysterious, ill Marshall... in BREATHE ...
BREATHE: OMG ! This one has big feels, tears, and heart strings pulled. Snarky, sassy and funny, Oli/Oliver, 27, has lots of bad luck. Oli and Marshall, 47, connect online for months, but finally meet at an event for The Shepard. Marshall is ill but doesn’t tell Oli. We see all of the couples in this one, their progress and caring. Oli and Marshall have problems, but their sex is super hot, including breath play. Just when I thought dark times were coming, our brilliant author gave us hope and a path to happiness. A terrific wrap up of these tales.
Outstanding writing, emotional personalities, riveting sex scenes, and epilogues with satisfaction.
I forgot how much this series had going for it. It's very high heat, but it's also so much about healing and the emotion behind that. It's exploring who you are after that's been taken away from you and falling in love with yourself right alongside someone else. All the stories bring something to the table, but my favorite is definitely Breathe!
I got through 78% of the book and while I enjoyed most of the stories, by the time I got to Gabriel’s I felt the author had dropped the ball of this series. This is the first mpreg I’ve read and it was interesting.
Now for the reviews of the actual stories I read. I didn’t connect with either Owen or Crawford, but I thought that their story was sweet. The introduction to the kink club was good, but nothing happens there and this isn’t what I’d call a kinky story... aside from the mpreg.
Lucian and Marcus’s story we at least got to see some actual kink (if not much), which made the story slightly more interesting. The part I loved best however was the outrage Marcus exhibited when it came to Garrison. That was perfectly perfect.
Adrian and Sterling are my favorite characters from this series and as such their story is also my favorite. Nothing is better than non-traditional roles for alphas and omegas. Adrian is a dominant omega and surprisingly enough, Sterling is an alpha that submits for both his own release and to provide Adrian what he needs. To my mind this showed just how stereotypical archetypes can be so it was refreshing to see that switched up. Don’t get me wrong, Sterling is absolutely capable of sending Adrian to sub space, but he doesn’t need to have control all the time. The way their relationship came about and the hurdles they faced made the story all that much more compelling.
That brings me to Gabriel and Cedric. Gabriel is a broken submissive brainwashed by many years in an abusive situation. Cedric is an alpha that used to be paraded around the kink club as a submissive. It’s awesome that Cedric embraced his submissive side for two years, but him being a dom for the next 4 and then never again acknowledging his submissive side, drove me utterly batty! Gabriel is an unbelievably sweet character who I wanted to connect with but just couldn’t. I hated that Cedric basically shelved his submissive side like it never existed other than for a couple of flashback scenes. How are these two supposed to be perfect for one another when one is denying part of his true self and the other isn’t capable of providing what he needs? Also, Cedric’s views of his own actions in relation to Gabriel rubbed me wrong. Not that they were wrong per say, just that they didn’t come across well.
That left me throwing in the towel before I ever read Oli’s story. I really don’t want to know... *sigh*
I've read most of these books when they were released on their own. Reading them all back to back was a completely different thing to do. You get to see all the reactions and how everything is all interconnected, which is totally awesome. I mean, I knew they were from the beginning, but seeing how it is this way is so different.
I love how we see kink manifesting in the different relationships, according to what meets everyone's needs. You get everything from the fairly loose kinkery to a pretty much TPE relationship. But, the relationships work, the people are loving towards each other, and everyone grows and strengthens themselves as well as their partners. Isn't that what a good relationship is supposed to do?
The bonus epilogues are just even better, they add a nice cherry on top of the icing of the whole cake. I love all these guys and I would love to see more of them. I can't even pick out a favorite in there.
This is the first time I have read a LGBT book and I can say that it won't be my last. Ms. Scott had me at the first....and had me falling in love with the men in this series......definitely a great read.
I have (and read) all the ebooks in the His Command series, but having the audiobooks narrated by Michael Dean is sooo much better. He voices the characters and their emotions so much better than I could picture in my head just by reading. I loved it, and the added bonus epilogues were a special treat. It’s always nice to get a peak at the characters after the HEA. Below is a brief summary review of the individual books.
Obey Obey is the first book in the His Command series, a set of mpreg books that takes place is an omegaverse. Owen is an omega who has fought hard to rise above society’s expectations and limitations for omegas. Yet, he is lonely and feels something is missing. Crawford is an alpha and a dominant, but he doesn’t want a meek submissive. He is looking for a partner strong enough to say ‘no,’ but who chooses to obey. Could Owen be that man? Maybe, but Owen has issues, and he has to decide if he wants to take a chance on Crawford. I liked the slow, measured way these two came together, and the way Crawford supported Owen through his health issue, letting him make the decisions. Although this story includes some emotionally charged topics including reproductive violation (altering an omega’s hormones to increase fertility without their knowledge or consent), it is relatively low-angst.
The narration by Michael Dean is fantastic, especially how seamlessly he shifts from dominant alphas to softer omegas, and the way he captures the characters’ emotions.
Beg I loved this story of Lucian and Marcus, especially watching Lucian grow and learn how to stand up for himself and what he wanted. There is a big difference between BDSM on your own terms and slave servitude against your will, and I thought the author showed that very well. The public scene would have been too much for me, but it suited the story and the characters. I would have loved to see A's reaction to the show! I loved the final wedding scene. As listeners, we already knew about the connection, but it was funny to see Lucian and his mentor come face to face at the event. If I have any disappointment, it was how easily the issue regarding the court case was settled. There could have been a little more angst and struggle with that, but I was certainly glad to see Marcus do the right thing without hesitation. I really loved Marcus' gentle and caring nature. (Better to do it right, than to do it quickly.) And he wasn't afraid to apologize when he thought he had done wrong.
I loved Michael Dean’s narration. He did a fantastic job giving Lucian a strong voice. He was beaten down, but not broken, and I loved the way that came through in Michael’s narration. Good speed and delivery, too.
Stay I had a very hard time liking or empathizing with Adrian, although he really shined when it came to taking care of Gabriel. I just couldn't forgive trying to take away your own pain by hurting others the way Adrian did. Sterling is definitely a better person than I am. I was far more interested in Gabriel's story and what he went through and how he was brainwashed. Ms. Scott did an admirable job trying to redeem Adrian, and I really felt for his situation, but I couldn't sympathize with the way he responded to it by selfishly hurting others.
Michael Dean’s narration was excellent, as always. He does a fantastic job expressing emotion, and moving effortlessly from alpha Sterling to meek omega Gabriel.
Heal Wow! This is another powerful story from Piper Scott with themes of abuse, healing, and love. Gabriel's story is a touching, poignant story of the healing power of love. I loved both Gabriel and Cedric! There are harsh issues here, particularly abuse, that may be difficult for sensitive readers, but this is a beautiful story, and if you pick it up, I promise you won't be disappointed by the outcome.
As always, excellent narration by Michael Dean. Such emotional and heartfelt delivery.
Breathe Another fantastic story from Piper Scott! I have enjoyed all the books in this series, and this one is no exception. The characters are well-developed and realistic. The story is full of pain and angst, joy and love, and plenty of heat. Love it, love it, love it! This book can be read (or listened to) by itself, but you'll enjoy it more if you read the whole series.
Excellent narration by Michael Dean that brings all the feels.
I received a free review copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
M/M Dom/Sub Fantasy non shifter Alpha/Omega (modern not the typical omegaverse) Mpreg Light kink High steam
Book 1 Obey = 4.5
Not a fan of the name "Pet" that is overly used but that's just me.
Im not a fan of the typical AOB world and the usual power/class dynamics that are typically in fantasy books, so I was intrigued by this having AOB on equal footing in their rights and status in the world. While yes they were still controlled by their biological desires and Crawford was also a Dom personality who wanted a Sub, It was nice for a change to see an Alpha and Omega being treated as equals and choosing their relationship dynamics willingly.
I enjoyed this from start to finish and listened to it all in one listen. It was fast paced and didn't drag at all which was great. I loved both of the MCs and thought they had great chemisty. It was a fun, super steamy story with no angst which I also loved. I felt bad for Owen and I enjoyed his backstory, it added interesting plot so it wasn't just all steam.
Im leaving off half a star because the book time jumps and because of this it felt very insta love even though alot of time had supposedly happened and it told rather than shown that they had bonded over the many months together. I would have loved to see more relationship development. Due to this I considered rating it even lower but ultimately left it at 4.5 cause I can easily see myself listening to this again in the future.
I enjoyed this world that the author created and one side character in particular really got my attention with his feisty humor.
Book 2 Beg = 2 stars
This can be read as a standalone. There are spoilers though about the previous couple so read in order to avoid them.
I loved the first book and first couple but this was a big disappointment on both parts.
Firstly, like in book 1 we got another name, "Fledgling", for the sub that was total cringe and overused imo. I get that it could fit him as a newbie to the lifestyle but it can have a negative connotation so I couldn't help but cringe everytime it was said.
I still enjoyed the world this author has created at.the club but the main side character in this was Adrian whom I thought was a good and intriguing character in book 1. He was sassy and fun in it. The author totally blew up his character in this book by making him the villain. It made me hate him and not want to read his book, which is next in this serious. Not sure why the author would make a bad choice like that imo. The villain could have easily been anyone else that we don't have to hear from again. I don't even care to know how he will redeem himself.
I did finish the book, mostly due to its quick length and the narrator, but there was no part that I particularly enjoyed.
I didn't really like either of the MCs. Marcus came off as cold, rude and super pushy and manipulative. I felt bad for Lucien at first due to his backstory and I was rooting for him to become the independent and strong character he wanted to become but that only lasted briefly. I felt like there was no character development in his case. The plot line the author chose was just not fitting for this type of character, especially with their backstory.
I didn't feel any real chemistry between the 2 MCs other than heat. I felt like Marcus treated Lucien like an object. It was all heat and no communication or substance between the 2 men.
Book 5 Breathe = 5 stars
This can be read as a standalone. There are spoilers though about the previous couples so read in order to avoid them.
I still enjoyed the world this author has created at the club and the modern contemporary settings and Omegas being treated with the same respect as Alphas. It was also nice to see cameos from the previous couples.
I loved both of the MCs and thought they had amazing chemisty. Given their prior online relationship I felt like the relationship development was natural and it didn't feel like instalove like some of the previous books.
I really loved this story and enjoyed it from start to finish in one listen. It is a story I will definitely listen to again in the future. It was fast paced and didn't drag at all which was great. I'm not a fan of secrets but it did make for interesting plot. This was a great story to end this series on. While it still had steam, I did find it had less steam than the others and definitely more angst with Marshals illness but it was the perfect amount for this plot.
The only thing I can say negative about this book is that I couldn't help but constantly question the validity of Alcrest not being able to go 2 mins at work without his oxygen tank but was able to go hours on dates without it no problem and even getting vigorously spicy without anyone finding out his secret illness. Other than that I do think the author portrayed the illness accurately.
Narration = 5 stars
MD did an amazing narration as always. His voice is a pleasure to listen to. Like always he kept a great pace, expressed all the emotions wonderfully, gave all the characters including the side characters their own distinct voice that suited each of them perfectly and he brought the story to life.
I adored this collection! I was awesome to have all the individual books in one and to read them together. They tied in really well and I appreciated not having to flick through multiple books - the characters are all intertwined so it's an effective setup in terms of narration and plot.
Owen and Crawford are the first couple and it packs a punch as the first story in the series. It's sexy and delicious, a clever game of cat and mouse with Crawford coaxing Owen to come into himself. It's all about Owen learning how to let go, trust and live free of his own self imposed isolation. An emotional devastating backstory for Owen adds some angst and tear jerking moments. A tender but spicy pairing.
Lucian and Marcus come next. I was a little wary of this coupling - Lucian's backstory involves sexual slavery and abuse. He has completed his therapy and the majority of his experience is glossed over so it's not too explicit but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. It's usually a feature in stories I do my best to avoid but it's handled well and works to add to Lucian's characterisation. Marcus is a delight, sexy and seductive. Their dynamic follows the "forbidden" relationship trope and it works with the ending being an explosion of a sex scene (YUMMY) and a tender epilogue.
Adrian is our "villain" from the previous story and I almost skipped this story because Scott does such a good job of villainising him at the start. I'm glad I didn't because straight away she spins it around and you can't help but bleed for Adrian. You want him to get his happy ending with Sterling to the point where you're almost pulling your hair out with frustration because you just want him to have nice things but he's getting in his own way. This story was a nice departure from the previous two - we get a versatile D/S dynamic here rather than the standard one and it works very well with the characters.
Gabriel is Adrian's brother, back from being kidnapped years ago. This was probably the story I liked the least. Gabriel's backstory is Personally, I really hated that and I found it hard to really lose myself in the story. HOWEVER, it's written extremely well and it makes sense. Gabriel's journey to recover, his relationship with Cedric - it works well and the ending he gets is 100% worth it for the angst you're dragged through beforehand. That's the one thing I have to tip my hat to the author for - I always get my happy endings with babies and that's literally all I want.
Oli and Marshall close off the story and they're not as tied to the other characters (eg through family). Oli takes part in Gabriel's story but I think Marshall only got a cursory mention MAYBE in the first book? So the epilogue with all of them together was sweet and I loved it but I just felt like a tighter link was needed. This story brings in the angst with some but I enjoyed it as the cap at the end of the collection. The sex is fun, Oli is a hilarious hoot and Marshall is a tender man.
A great series with lots of happy endings and babies. A fantastic read :)
MPreg is new to me and I am not sure how I feel about it. It does make me laugh when the pregnant male complains and all I can think of is since the dawn of time women have been complaining about pregnancy and now in these stories the men do. Payback. LOL.
Book 1. Obey. I really enjoyed Owen. He's the bumbling geek. He is a champion for the Omega's having equal rights and respect. Her is a counselor at a rehab facility for Omegas. In walks the owner Crawford and once they meet it's kismet. Crawford being an alpha also was brought up to respect Omegas. Crawford does win over Owen. Crawford's nickname for Owen is Pet and I love it. They do get their family and a HEA.
Book 2. Beg. Marcus in a hot shot lawyer and a player at the The Shepherd. He's also an Alpha. He's been unattached with the game and not feeling the excitement in The Shepherd scene anymore. Until he meets the new bartender Lucien. Lucien is an Omega and a recent graduate of the rehab facility that Owen works at and was his counselor. He knows he needs to stay on track in being control of his life and not under the spell of another alpha. But Marcus is too irresistible and they start a secret affair. Marcus's nickname for Lucien is Fledgling. But another member of The Shepherd, Adrian, tries to bring them down but it backfires and they end up together with a HEA.
Book 3. Stay. Sterling is the owner of The Shepherd. He's successful. He's the boss. He's Alpha. Adrian is the troublemaker who tried to take down Marcus and Lucien out of jealousy and spite but Sterling caught him in the act. Adrian is an Omega with an Alpha complex. In order for Adrian to stay a member he goes into a contract with Sterling. The complication is he becomes pregnant. Sterling is 100% on board but Adrian is so insufferable he just keeps Sterling waiting for an answer. Adrian finally agrees to being a couple with their child but there are too many demands that I cannot find it in me to like his character. You do find out why Adrian is the way he is but it doesn't excuse him being a horrible person. I don't know if you can call it a HEA when Adrian is horrible and Sterling is amazing.
Book 4. Heal. Out of no where Gabriel shows up after being missing forever. He is Adrian's little brother. He is so broken and the rehab facility can't even mend him. He has Stockholm syndrome for his captor that is evil beyond words. Gabriel was a captive sex slave and Lucien was also part of the White Lotus. But even Lucien can't get through to Gabriel. Sterling takes matters into his own hands and calls on professional Dom Cedric. Cedric is able to get more out of Gabriel than anyone but Adrian is his awful self and tries to intervene and control Gabriel. Cedric and Gabriel go through so much to get to their HEA but they finally do. Cedric is Sir and Gabriel is Rabbit. This is by far my favorite of the 5 books.
Book 5. Breathe. Oli is lost and wandering through life with everything always against him. He can't find a job, he looses his apartment and moves in with Cedric and Gabriel. Marshall is a CEO who is lost too. He's sad and has given up. Oli and Marshall meet on a dating app and start an online relationship. Through a chance encounter at The Shephard Oli and Marshall meet and then secrets are revealed. Marshall is sick and Oli has an accidental pregnancy. But they work though it and make it happen. They create their HEA.
At one point all the couples come together with their families and it's a nice reunion.
I've only just started reading Omegaverse books probably within the last year to year in a half. However, like with all books I like what I like and sometimes there are certain authors that I find I just absolutely love. Piper Scott is one of those authors I've actually come to love reading. I will say 4 out of 5 of these books I really loved. The last two, Heal and Breathe were probably my absolute favorites! So let's start with what story I didn't like.... Stay is probably the story I could've skipped if I wasn't worried I miss so much. I can't be the only one who absolutely hated Adrian. Even after learning about his homelife, growing up with the family he did, and his brother's disappearance I still don't even feel as if he redeemed himself and still just didn't like him. In regards to the relationship between Sterling and Adrian I felt it was Sterling constantly having to prove himself to Adrian...and yet Sterling was always there like a lost puppy dog to lap up what little attention Adrian granted him.
Now on to the good parts ;) -Obey: Owen and Crawford. I really enjoyed this story. As a counselor, Owen has seen many Omega's come through the rehabilitation center that have been used and abused. Given his own past he doesn't plan to allow himself to give in to an alpha, much less allow them as much power as Crawford seems to be requesting of him. -Beg: Lucian is a recent release from rehabilitation. After being forced into a situation at a young age and having no control over anything that was happening to him, it's empowering to control what is happening in his life now. But for all his new found independence, Marcus makes him want to chant yes, yes, yes to everything he is offering. -Heal: One of my favorites from this collection. Gabriel was kidnapped and his view of the relationships between omega and alpha was shaped by a man determined to undermine and reverse any rights omega's have fought for. The relationship between Gabriel and Cedric is so beautiful. While Gabriel will never view himself in the way his brother wants him to, Cedric just wants Gabriel to be healed and mental aware that he shouldn't just give in to what some people (like Gabriel's captor) view as a traditional omega's role. - Breathe: It's tough to determine if Heal of Breathe is my absolute favorite of this collection. I really loved Oli and Marshall. Marshall has the world at his fingertips and all the money to afford medical intervention necessary to combat his illness. But for Marshall what is the point when there's nothing but work to live for? However, once he meets Oli in person he knows he's now found his reason to live. But is it too late? Will Oli stand by him?
This is an impressive collection of omegaverse novellas, each focusing on a different couple with their own dynamic and a connection to the BDSM club The Shepherd.
Obey - Owen + Crawford
Owen and Crawford have an instant connection and their story is definitely the least complicated or angsty of the collection. Owen feels conflicted about the dom/sub nature of his and Crawford’s relationship because it clashes with some of his beliefs. I liked their story but felt it was a little underwhelming at times.
⭐ 3.5/5
Beg - Lucian + Marcus
Lucian and Marcus are one of my favourite couples from the collection. I was intrigued by the glimpse of Lucian that we got in Obey and was excited for him to get his own story. I really liked the dynamic between him and Marcus and thought that Lucian’s history was handled well. I also liked the way that the ending conflict was resolved.
⭐ 4/5
Stay - Adrian + Stirling
Adrian is not a very nice character in Beg (to say the least), so I was interested in how he was going to be redeemed in his own book. I thought that Stirling was a great match for him and appreciated the deeper dive into Adrian’s character. While I still found his actions very hard to relate to, I liked being able to better understand where his motivation lay.
⭐ 3.5/5
Heel - Gabriel + Cedric
This is probably the heaviest plot in terms of subject matter. Gabriel is an incredibly conplicated character with a devastating past. Like with Adrian, I found his actions very difficult to relate to but somewhat understood his motivation. I loved Cedric and his and Gabriel’s relationship. Their HEA was harder fought than some most of the others and so felt particularly satisfying.
⭐ 3.5/5
Breathe - Oliver + Marshal
Oliver and Marshal are my other two favourite characters. I really felt for these two - besides Gabriel, they probably had the hardest obstacles to overcome to get their happy ending. I particularly loved how funny Oliver is, I found myself laughing out loud at his continuous attempt to use humour as a coping mechanism. I would have rated this one higher but was a bit shocked by some of the more risky sexual practises they engaged in towards the end (which I felt like they probably shouldn’t have done in Oliver’s condition?)
⭐ 4/5
Overall I had a good time with this and thought the narrated did a great job. And you know I mean it because I listened to all 35.45 hours of it (I don’t think I’ve even listened to any of my loved one’s voices for that many hours).
An omegaverse BDSM series where the MCs are formerly abused or highly traumatised omegas had some concerns for me but this wasn't my first book by this fab author, and I LOVE the narrator Michael Dean so I decided to trust and go with it. MD does an outstanding job narrating. How he keeps his gruff voice controlled and level even in the spiciest scenes? It's performance gold. The individual levels stories range in spice and kink level, but all focus on alpha/omega pairings with hurt-comfort dynamics, and I think individual readers will connect with some better than others. Not all the stories and relationship dynamics make for comfortable reading/listening, so I would recommend paying close attention to the content and trigger warnings. 5 books plus 5 bonus epilogues make this collection a hefty listen and I think it's good to be able to listen to all the stories in order as although the relationship plotlines stand alone they're all interrelated, especially as you get further through the series.
Tropes: Hurt-comfort MM romance Non-shifter contemporary omegaverse Dom/Sub Mpreg Light kink High steam
Obey (novella) : Omega rehabilitation counsellor Owen doesn’t need an alpha in his life... but that doesn’t stop Crawford from giving him his collar.
Beg : Recently liberated from omega rehabilitation therapy, Lucian’s only just learned to say “No.” It’s too bad that night after night, Marcus makes him whimper, “Yes!"
Stay : When an accidental pregnancy forces troubled omega Adrian to bond with Sterling, the alpha he hates, the arguments aren’t the only thing bound to get hot.
Heal : Broken omega Gabriel needs an alpha to hold him together, to love him, and to give him a family... and professional Dom Cedric just might be the man for the job.
Breathe : When a scorching online relationship leads to an unexpected pregnancy, Oli has to decide whether Marshall’s terrible secret is something he can shoulder, or if he’s better off alone.
I originally read this series several years ago, so when I saw the combined work was live in audio I was excited to give it a listen. Michael Dean did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life, and it was easy for me to drop back into this universe and get invested in the journey. The themes explored by these books were passionate, sometimes emotional, sometimes heartbreaking, but the love between the leads was an anchor that kept me optimistic for each HEA.
Obey (4/5 stars) Owen and Crawford's romance was a steamy, emotional alpha/omega pairing. Owen was a quiet yet fiercely independent omega, and he'd been burned so badly by alphas in the past that he'd walled himself off from any potential future alpha lover. Crawford was the alpha who challenged all of his strict rules, and their chemistry was fiery from their first shared glance. Under Crawford's control, Owen could be submissive without giving up his backbone, could obey without losing the pieces of himself he'd fought hard to regain. Their connection was raw animal magnetism, each man bringing out the other's baser instincts and soaring to heights they'd never experienced before. In my personal opinion, some of their scenes were a little under negotiated, and I had to remind myself that Owen wasn't as demonstrative as many of the characters I've gotten used to reading in recent years. I genuinely believed that each man wanted to be with the other, was falling in love with the other, and I was happy to see them work through the growing pains of getting to know each other and settle into a happy partnership.
**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this compilation. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
I had only read Obey before and was eager to read the rest of the series. And with a box set narrated by Michael Dean, you can't go wrong. I really liked the author's writing style. All of the stories revolve more or less around the kink club The Shepherd, are set in the Omegaverse, and each story is about a different couple. Nevertheless, I recommend reading the stories in order, as this may help you understand some of the characters' reactions better, simply because you have already gotten to know their story or heard something about their background. Over 35 hours of Michael Dean were an absolute listening pleasure for me, as Michael managed to captivate me with his narration even over such a long period of time. He voices the characters very appropriately and, as always, conveys the emotions superbly. He jumps effortlessly from the dominant alpha to the obedient omega. The stories are quite different, but all of them are entertaining. Some are less dramatic, while others are emotionally charged, so there should be something for everyone. The themes are very diverse, ranging from abuse, unwanted pregnancy, healing, pain, and fear to joy and love. Some stories are more touching than others, and I warmed to some characters more quickly than others. The characters were mostly created to be multi-layered, and with the exception of one main character, I found them all very likeable. But overall, all the stories were entertaining, engaging, emotional, and sometimes quite hot. My favorite couple was Oliver and Marshall in Breathe.
The audio version of the His Command series was such an experience. Piper Scott has made a world that is both heavy and also close, omegaverse interacting with BDSM details in a manner that is neither overwhelming nor redundant, but rather exquisitely emotional. The narrators made an outstanding job of bringing all characters to life particularly with the changes of power, vulnerability and the enhancing bonds between Alphas and Omegas.
What was actually impressive to me was that each book examines a different couple with their personal issues and emotional obstacles, but the series makes a unity as a whole. I liked the way the BDSM elements were depicted not only as kink, but also as a kind of trust, devotion, and treatment. It sensitised the relationships to be multifaceted and not merely material.
The pacing was sometimes not smooth in certain books, sometimes it dragged or sometimes it leaped ahead of time, but the emotional reward made it well worth it. My favorite one especially was the development of relationships based on opposition or doubt into support and affection.
This is a series worth listening to in case you are into omegaverse, heart, depth, and a little kink. The acting, character dynamics, and narration made me ponder over these characters even after the show ended.
I did not understand what I was getting into. I do not go for the whole male pregnancy thing. And the idea of there being omegas that go into heat twice a year? I will be more careful in the future since I now see there are more books similar to this by other authors. To me, this might has well been an alien romance. I love PNR books and enjoy MM every now and then. I certainly like my romances to be on the much kinkier side but this is beyond what I can enjoy. Obviously, there are people out there who do enjoy it and to each their own.
I wouldn't have left a review since it isn't the author's fault this isn't my thing but I also didn't like the writing style. It was very dry. There were a lot of grammatical errors. I read the entire first book, skimming about 1/3 of it but it would have been easy to put down. I was in a place where I had some time to read but couldn't easily pick out a new book. I also wanted to understand the whole knotting thing. It's a good thing that doesn't happen to humans in real life - a whole lot more people would get caught cheating!
I have never read any M/M books before this one I decided to try out due to curiosity and we all know what they say curiosity does. Yep I should have left it alone this book was so freaking weird it made absolutely no sense at all! I'm a huge paranormal romance fan, I have enjoyed a few omega verse style books. I also really like the more kinky books too...however this book went against everything I ever knew about the whole omega verse. I almost didn't finish it during the very first book when she dropped the first bomb on me when some how the men in these stories the ones that are omega's can actually get pregnant! WTF?! How the hell is that even possible supposedly the omega's have all the reproductive organs as women do so yeah they can get pregnant and give birth. I believe if she would have left that out I could have rated it higher but no she decided to create her own little world with her own rules and it really made no sense at all and I didn't care for it one bit.
Early on when I first started reading MM romance books I explored different genres and tropes. I read each of the His Command series books on my eReader and loved them all. I am so happy that the entire series is now on audiobook and in a set.
Each book is set around a different couple and each has their own dynamic within their relationship and within their BDSM community. Each book has a HEA for the couple but each book also has a struggle or struggles that must be overcome. Some of those things are past traumas and some are events still unfolding during their story. One of the biggest things that the characters must live with is how the roles of Alpha and Omega are perceived and treated differently in society. It is interesting to watch the dynamics unfold for each couple and see how they all grow.
Michael Dean narrates these audiobook and his performance is great. He brings these characters to life and helps them and their world feel real.
I received a copy of this audiobook and this is my honest opinion.
Fun and sizzling omegaverse series. Overall I enjoyed it, even when the books weren’t 100% to my taste. Series falls towards the darker/heavier end of the scale.
I liked that the same narrator was used for the whole series so the voices were consistent throughout.
Also enjoyed the level of cross over between books. Enough for you to enjoy the other characters but not so much they don’t stand alone.
Obey: Owen / Crawford
Bosses bosses boss. Mostly heat with a bit of story tossed in.
Beg: Lucian / Marcus
Middle life / Age Gap Sizzling forbidden romance with past trauma.
Stay: Adrian / Sterling
Power Dynamics - who’s in charge here?! Past trauma
Heal: Gabriel / Cedric *Least favourite of the bunch
Hurt / comfort with some serious deprogramming after a kidnap situation.
Loved Cedric's back story
Breathe: Oli / Marshall *Favourite of the 5 books
Middle Life / Age gap Chronic/terminal illness - Disability Power dynamics
Online chatting and chance meeting leads to an oopsie baby.
I’ve loved Piper’s book for quite some time, and this series is no different. Even though they’re all in the same universe as her Forbidden series (or maybe forbidden is in the same universe as this one 😉) each story bring their own unique story, issues and happy endings. Even characters that you absolutely hate in previous books (yes I’m looking at you Adrien) you end up loving once you get to their story. This series brought so many emotions to me that I even had to stop in between to breathe again, because once you immerse yourself in it, it’s hard to get out.

Overview: Overall: 4.75/5 Storyline: 4.5/5 Smut: 4.5/5 The feels it made me feel: 5/5
I received an ALC for this book and this is my honest and voluntary review.
These stories are so good. I own the individual audios but never finished all of them. I was so happy that I was given a review copy of the boxed set which includes three special epilogues that weren’t part of the individual audios.
The stories are emotional and a little thought provoking. Michael Dean did a fantastic job performing them.
I loved listening to all of these stories but particularly loved Heal and Breathe. In Heal, Cedric and Gabriel don’t have a traditional relationship but it’s what they both needed because both of them had healing to do. Breathe was at times heart-breaking because of what Marshall was going through but I knew that he and Oli would get their HEA and it was wonderful.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
Overall a great mm non-shifter omegaverse series! The connection of each book’s couple to the previous book definitely means it is best read in order. I also think that the stories flow really well from one to the next, with books 1&2 setting up the world & the kink club that links the characters loosely together, then books 3&4 really dive into character development & healing from past traumas, and then book 5 delivers that hopeful “you’ve given me something to live for” vibe to wrap the whole series up in a heartfelt way.
*I listened to an ALC copy of the full series audiobook, and all opinions are my own*
Each book & pairing gives something a little different, so it’s not just the same D/s dynamics repeated 5 times, nor the same character age-gaps, interactions, and tropes, etc.
And as always, Michael Dean’s narration was great throughout!
This audiobook collection is sure a lot of bang for one credit! While there is some unevenness in terms of the quality of the stories, between the stories themselves and the narration, this is a solid listen. In addition, this version includes 5 bonus epilogues, so really, if you like Omegaverse, you will love this. There are 4 full length books + the intro novella, mostly centered around the BDSM club, The Shepherd and people who meet there. The five couples each include an alpha and omega pair, though in this world these omegas are trying to redefine what omegas are. Many of the MCs have trauma, so there's lots of hurt/comfort going on here, along with some very hot spice and lots of feels too. Recommend.
His Command is one of my favorite omegaverse series. This bundle collects all five books as well five epilogues. The books are wonderful and follow five different couples who are interconnected by friendship and family. This series has a lot of dominant alphas and their submissive(ish) omegas, as well as kink galore. But this book is more than just hot knotting sex and mpreg – it also explores the different themes of what it means to have an identity while falling in love, and how to heal from trauma. The epilogues are super sweet and I loved seeing where each couple’s future was headed after all the stories were done. This bundle is a great purchase and I highly recommend it.
Really enjoyed this bdsm series of 5 books of men associated with a bdsm club called the Shepard in Aurora. Each book had different characters with their own issues, struggles, strengths and complexity, all ending HEA. Characters continue through the series adding new primaries each book. Alpha-omega mpreg stories -very enjoyable-never got bored. Story to sex scenes ratio was good -didn't get bored or tempted to skip pages as I do in many mm romances. I look forward to more books from Piper Scott😊
This was a great series, each book better than the last. I really enjoyed the last couple in the series!
This entire series is based around a club called The Shepherd and couples that appear throughout. I haven't read a ton of omegaverse books with BDSM, but these were actually really well done. I enjoyed each story, and they were all very different from each other. This was surely worth the value!
This is an awesome audiobook collection of the His Command series written by Piper Scott with great voice narration by Michael Dean. I am a fan of both these talented people, and this collection doesn't disappoint. Michael Dean gives distinctive voices to the characters, and enlivens their encounters and romances in this steamy five book mpreg series. I highly recommend this over 35 hour audiobook collection!
I read the boxset back in March of 2020 so I’ve forgotten pretty much everything but I fell in love with the characters all over again. I’m not a huge fan of Michael Dean but couldn’t resist snagging this one anyway.
Awesome series and I’m so sad it’s over because I loved the stories. You will feel all the feels with this lot.
Highly recommend.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from Gay Romance Reviews and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Listening to the complete series...one by one was very compelling and entertaining. I like how each story connects in some way with one another which made it very enjoyable. I will say there is a lot of angst and hurt comfort which will give you some emotional feels but not too much which would border over the top. Each couple was special and their story was just as good as the counterparts. Love the extra epilogues and the narrator was decent too.
