Aftershocks

Rate this book
Book Two in the Fault Lines duology.

I thought taking Cam back meant healing.
But love after betrayal isn’t the same—it’s fragile, tentative, built on pieces that don’t quite fit anymore.

I tell myself I’m fine. That the distance between us will close if I just keep trying. But nights stretch longer, conversations fade shorter, and the man I once trusted with my whole heart feels like a stranger I can’t stop reaching for. The harder I fight to save us, the more I lose myself.

So I start to pull away—bit by bit—learning how to breathe on my own again. Somewhere between the silence and the ache, I find small laughter, solitude, the quiet thrill of rediscovering who I am without him.

That’s when he appears.
Unexpected. Steady. The kind of presence that doesn’t demand, only sees. With him, everything feels different—soft where my life has been sharp, effortless where it’s been exhausting. He listens. He laughs. He looks at me like I’m something worth choosing.

But love isn’t simple, and hearts don’t always heal cleanly.
As the fault lines between past and present shift, I’ll have to decide what I’m willing to risk—and who I’m ready to love—when the ground finally settles.

Aftershocks is a tender, passionate story about rediscovering yourself through love, and the unexpected second chances that rise from the ruins.

Engaging read on a part 2 exploration on what happens when trust is gone in a relationship. I didn’t love the ending though, I found it hard to encourage a protagonist who so desperately needs to be single jump right into another relationship. Especially because she and Cam really seemed to love each other but just needed to find another way to meet each other. I don’t think Cam was given a fair chance, I think couples counseling would’ve been for them.

I enjoyed this book more than the first. I hated Cam in the first book. I wanted many bad things to happen to him. In the second, I really liked him. I was rooting for him throughout.

I am ambivalent toward Owen. He felt like a placeholder.

Livi. I'm not sure how to feel about her. I didn't like her much in the first book. In this one, she grows a lot as a character. Still, I'm undecided. She gets her happy ending.

This book is listed as book 2 in a duology but feels incomplete. Is there a book 3? Do Livi and Cam get back together? Never thought I'd ship them.

Breathtaking ending

The ending of Cam & Livi was so sad , but really wasn't unexpected. This couple truly never should have been married to begin with, but I'm so happy she got her baby & Owen in the end! I just wished that Cam could have found that person too! Cam has a need to be a hero to someone until he "fixs"himself he will never be good to anyone

I wanted so hard to love this book. I know that Cam was awful in the first book but I believe in this one he should have gotten a better deal. Why does the heroine always have to have a love interest when she is working on healing herself?
I just wanted it to go another way. It was just a sad book and I was so excited for it but now I don't care. I know authors have visions, and I respect that, but it won't be a reread for me. 😔😔😔
