I’ve reached the end of the At Night trilogy with “Master at Night” written by Harlow Brígh. Since this was the conclusion of Lathen and Emerson’s story I was craving more scenes with this dynamic twosome. The scenes in Noir were fantastic and emphasized the master/submissive roles our main characters inhabited while when they closed off the outside world. This time at Noir was important to Emerson and Lathen, I wanted them to visit more often. I do think Millicent, who I thoroughly disliked from the beginning, the highwayman/lord Thom, and Millicent’s brother Percy and his lover got way too much ink in the story. Their motivations could’ve been told more succinctly, the long scenes detracted from the story as a whole. The author did hint at future romances between secondary characters, I hope this comes to pass. Overall, I did enjoy the plot and the characters. I liked the “darkish” nature lurking throughout, it added an interesting dimension to the lives of the characters. I would say reading from the beginning of the series is important. The characters were developed over time, and I enjoyed following their individual transformations. I do recommend this intriguing series, it is definitely not your run of the mill historical romance, it is so much more.

Before I begin, I have to say that I pray Harlow blesses us with a spin off series or even just a spin off book about Leighton and Hazel.
Master at Night is the thrilling conclusion to Emerson’s story, and I have to say that it changed to others perspectives. This story centered around Leighton and Hazel and I kind of wish there had honestly been more of Emerson and Lathen in the storyline. I will say that I appreciate that Harlow was trying to set up the Leighton and Hazel plots and setting up their story but I will also say that I didn’t like Percy-Blackburn-Millicent and I could have used a lot less of him in this story.
I found that the country party ended without a conclusion, there were just two days left and we learn nothing…. and at country parties normally we see more antics, and really, I was expecting exactly that from that country party.
All that said, I found the scenes to be fun and I can honestly say that I am happy and delighted with the way this book ended and I really did love these characters. And I will be reading this series again in the near future.
I have to say that even with the things that I don’t exactly like, I would still highly recommend this series. It’s a very enjoyable read.

I thoroughly enjoyed the gripping and very well-written conclusion of this dark trilogy about Emerson and Lathen‘s romance that is brimming with heartfelt emotions, drama, suspense, action, forbidden desires, secrets, intrigue, blackmail, unexpected twists, and spice, including light BDSM, orgy and MM scenes.
I liked Emerson and Lathen right from the first book, and I’ve been on the edge of my seat and shared their pain and longing throughout the three volumes. These two are a perfect match, and I loved their sizzling chemistry, their interactions, and the obvious feelings they have for each other. Their story may be over, but I hope the other two potential couples get their own books and that we’ll see Emerson and Lathen again.
Shortly before her wedding to Lathen, Emerson is confronted by her rival, Ms. Millicent Willoughby, about her secret visits to Noir and blackmailed into giving up Lathen; otherwise, her dark secrets would socially ruin her, him, and those close to her. With a heavy heart, Emerson breaks up with Lathen officially to protect him, but cannot bring herself to stop meeting her Master secretly at Noir at night. Readers should be aware that this story contains darker themes and extremely explicit scenes. However, the intensity is purposeful and deeply rooted in the narrative. Nothing feels gratuitous. This book absolutely should not be read as a standalone—the full emotional impact depends on the journey.
The series arc as a whole is exceptionally well executed:
-Book One: A total surprise and an immediate hook.

While we aren't guessing at who's who in this one as much, this one keeps you on the edge of your seat. The scheming and manipulation that occurs is fantastic.
While I thought things could have been solved easier with a conversation, I can also see how the heroine would feel in the position that she couldn't.
Harlow Brigh does a great job of keeping the reader engaged and character development! Loved the growth and depth for each person!
I loved the wrap of of their story and can't wait to see if we get to continue other couples!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Absolutely loved this series!!! Harlow Brigh has such a beautiful cadence to her writing. Master at Night was the perfect way to wrap up Lathen and Emerson’s story and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for some of the other characters. Leighton has stolen a piece of my heart and I’m anticipating learning more about her!!

This is the third book in this series. The first two books should be read to provide context to what is happening in this one.
There is lots of action, spice and angst. The author has created a fairly dark universe so be forewarned. I did enjoy this book and look forward to the author’s next book.

Loved this series. I’m not a huge fan of historical romance, but these were just so perfect. Intriguing, beautifully written. This one pulled me in and had me devouring it. I loved these two so much. The spice was perfect. This story was very well balanced and had a perfect depth to it as all. Sad to see this is the last one. But what a great way to wrap this up.

I love this entire series!!! I was not ready for it to end! It kept me captivated and wanting more. I fell in love with so many of the characters I honestly am unable to pick a favorite. If you like historical romance I can not reccomend this book enough.

Book 3 concludes the love story with steamy spicy scenes and lots of drama. A back alley brawl and new connections being made between the supporting characters. Nice way to wrap it up!

Once again not disappointed in this series! Such a fantastic book, great storyline, great twists to keep me guessing, great story for Emerson and Lathen’s love. And of course perfect amount of spiciness, darkness intertwined with romance. So amazing that I practically binge read it.

I'm not the typical reader for historical romance. Definitely not the "darkish" spicy kind. My girlfriend got me into this with Awaken at Night, the first book. She was raving about it, so I picked it up just to humor her. Big mistake, in the best way. I ended up staying up way too late devouring it.
I never expected to get hooked on this genre. Regency balls, brooding dukes, forbidden passion? Not my usual thing at all. But the characters are something else. Lady Emerson and Lathen are so vividly drawn, complex, flawed, and utterly compelling. Their chemistry builds in a way that feels real and intense, and the character development across the books is masterful. By the time I got to Pursued at Night (book 2), I was fully invested, and I couldn't put it down.
Master at Night, the third and final book, is the perfect finale. It wraps everything up with heart-pounding tension, emotional depth, and that signature blend of nostalgia and edge that makes this series stand out. The way Brígh ties up the arcs for Emerson, Lathen, and the supporting cast left me satisfied but sad it's over. This trilogy turned me into a romance convert.
