This book is an essential instructional utility for all prospective police officers. It teaches precise ways to safely approach potential perpetrators of violence. The guidelines are structured to avoid violations of citizen rights, and the author stresses alternate non-violent scenarios every step of the way. Any security professional can greatly benefit from this detailed manifesto about initiating interactions without propagating an altercation.

May seem like an odd book to read for someone who isn't a police officer or in any kind of law enforcement, but I picked it up for research purposes and actually found it an excellent read. Christensen's comments are hilarious and old-school. The man doesn't mince words about how he feels about the new political correctness in policing. Knowing how a cop thinks and is trained will give you some insight into the recent controversial shootings in the U.S. Sometimes cops, when faced with a life and death situation, don't have time to play nice and they shouldn't have to. I give credit to anyone who takes on the difficult task of protecting the often unappreciative masses.
