Not all beginnings come gently. Some arrive wearing masks.
I came home expecting quiet. What I found instead was a fractured family, buried secrets… and the unmistakable sound of danger closing in. My father’s enemies had come to collect. When a masked man stepped out of the dark, I should have run. Instead, I invited him inside. What began as a dangerous game became something far more wicked. Rules blurred. Lines vanished. And the man behind the mask wasn’t there to hurt me. He was there to claim me. This wasn’t a romance meant to last—it was a sin meant to start something.
A spark. A warning. The start to a brand-new dark romance series! This novella is the first step into a world where loyalty is lethal, and obsession only grows darker. This masked man isn’t the most dangerous brother. He’s just the beginning. Silent Night Sins is a stand-alone prequel novella to a brand-new dark romance series with light mafia connections. No cheating. No cliffhangers. A guaranteed HEA. Morally grey, obsessive, and not suitable for everyone. Read this before you meet the hungrier, more obsessed brother.
This was such a fun read, it’s pretty fast paced and went straight in with the plot. A lot of packed into this little novella, and I can’t lie. I kinda want more 😏 This is definitely on the lighter side of dark romance, but it isn’t any less HOT. Because damn Cristiano had me panting, he had a delicious way with words and I ate up every word.
“Decorating you is my new favorite tradition.” 🫠
Nicky is returning home for Christmas, but when she’s met with silence…. All she wants is a little excitement… this Christmas, all she wishes for is a dark and depraved masked man to take her as his own.. but when he appears and makes all her fantasies come true, she was gone for. All she has to do, is unmask this man… and see who lies beneath.
“I can’t tell if your refusal to use the safe word was out of pride or stupidity.” 🤭🤭
And when the roles reverse?! I was all here for it, the switch up had me kicking my feet giggling and I just loved them together. Their chemistry was great, for a short book, that isn’t easily done… it was funny, they had banter and their dynamic was a pleasure to read. It’s a really fun, and delicious read. Perfect for the holiday season!
The spice was GREAT, they had me squirming in my seat, and some of those scene will live rent free. I will never look at frosting the same again… 🤭 Nicky had the ultimate Christmas of dreams I stg…. What I would give for a masked man to chase me around the tree 🤭
Obsession wrapped in secrets, masked in holiday sin
Nicole comes home for peace and quiet. Instead, she finds a house stripped of holiday cheer, a family that bails, and a masked man breaking through her door with dangerous intent. But when he pins her down and whispers her name like a memory, she doesn’t run. She invites him back.
Cristiano arrives to send a warning but leaves with a new obsession. The girl he once knew is now a woman who pushes every one of his limits. As the snow deepens, so does their twisted game of shadows, control, and surrender. What starts as threat becomes temptation, then something he never expected.
Each visit unravels them. Beneath the masks, trust falters, old wounds surface, and the line between enemy and lover slips away. Lust turns to obsession, obsession into need. What begins as chase turns into something raw and real, and neither of them is ready for how deep it goes.
Nicole rediscovers purpose and strength she thought she’d lost. Cristiano drops the armor he’s worn for years and lets himself want more than vengeance. Their bond builds through dominance, surrender, pain, and tenderness—twisted but true. This isn’t a fairytale, it’s something darker. But it’s real.
A dark, ultra-steamy, BDSM-laced masked man Christmas romance with mafia edges, childhood friends to lovers tension, and holiday kink. It explores obsession, identity, betrayal, desire, power, emotional healing, and the freedom that comes when someone sees every part of you and still chooses to stay.
The Elevator Pitch: A masked man breaks in on Christmas Eve, but instead of fear, he sparks a dangerous game of obsession and desire. What begins as chase and power play between childhood friends turns into a twisted, deeply emotional romance that blurs fantasy and reality. Dark, steamy, and intense, it delivers mafia tension, holiday heat, and a bond that refuses to break.
The silence lends itself to seeing movements in the dark 😱
Nicolette, has gone home for the holidays but not just that she’s there to stay, to sort her life out. Except, upon entering her father’s home there’s no-one there, no father, no step mother, no sister…she’s alone. That is until a masked man breaks in, his intent is unknown to her, she assumes he’s a thief but he takes more than possessions 🌶️ Christiano, working for the mafia has a job to do, he just didn’t expect meeting her again, after years apart but he can’t let on who he is. The relationship builds from thief to victim and from victim to ‘allegedly’ being in control. The story progresses with little interludes that could tip the balance.
A fast paced Christmas read, building their relationship with all its pitfalls. It was an enjoyable read, with a little bit of will they, won’t they ingrained into it.
This book was the perfect mix of dark holiday vibes, tension, and slow-burn obsession. The atmosphere was eerie in the best way, the chemistry was sharp enough to cut glass, and the twists kept me flipping pages way past bedtime. I loved the way the romance balanced the suspense—it never felt rushed, just dangerously addictive.
This was a fun, spicy, dark Christmas standalone novella! I enjoyed Cristiano and Nicole's story with second chance romance, masks, forbidden games and creative use of holiday decorations!
Silent Night Sins by Alexa Michaels is a Christmas dark romance. This was just what I needed to get into the Christmas spirit. This book is spicy. Masked man breaks in is now a favorite trope of mine. He leaves her thoughtful gifts and is her dark fantasy come to life. Christiono is in the mafia and is a boxer. Nicole is home for the holidays in an empty house. It’s dark but has a heartwarming love story.
Considering that this is not my first Alexa Michaels book, I'm kind of disappointed. Everything felt really rushed. The FMC felt really gullible, and the history that the two protagonists shared felt like an excuse to not showcase any type of chemistry or gradual progression.
Stalking in a Winter Wonderland? Yes, please! Nicky and Tino find each other again one Christmas after years apart. Once friends, now something darker…spicy and sweet, fun and heartwarming. This novella is perfect for the dark romance-Christmas loving gal or guy!
horribly written in my personal opinion, the MMC calls the FMC “Angel” probably 150 times. some of the smut scenes were actually just gross. the icing????? 🫣 would not recommend wasting time on this.
A satisfying holiday masked/mafia trope that carried quite a bit of spice and a decent plotline. This book started pretty quick with our masked MMC breaking in to our FMCs house. We'll her Dad's house, after she ends up coming in to town to celebrate Christmas and finds out no one else will be there. She's struggling with the loss of a job and no direction in life alongside so many others who seen to have a set destiny. This is a typical lost and alone type girl who leans in to the arms of the one person giving her attention, and that just happens to be the guy who breaks in to her father's house looking for him, yet finds her. Turns our our girl Nicky has a mask kink, and deep in her feels which leads her to challenge our intruder that she doesn't realize is less of a stranger than she thinks.
The story felt like it both had more plotline than it did, and also had no real depth to its plotline. Like all if the main points would lead to more and also were fron a story already told and over. It was an odd layout but still entertaining. Tino makes several surprise visits masked up to chase and challenge our girl while stroking some of her darkest desires, while they both navigate the underlying elephant in the room which is their shared past that they heavily ignore to keep the steamy game alive. But both of our characters are struggling to ignore the pull of chemistry they feel as well and not wanting to face the fears of what might happen when the mask comes off.
In between our masked meet ups at Nickys house there is some other stuff going on in regards to her trying to come to terms with what she wants in life and feeling totally unsupported and abandoned by everyone she loves, while Tino is juggling the fact that he works for the mob and is the son of a very respected name and that could be a huge roadblock when it comes to him claiming his prize. Nicky.
This book has several very steamy and spicy scenes that aren't the most widely but well done overall for the most part. I struggled with some of the dynamic, mostly at the beginning when our girl puts up no real fight and there is no build in dynamic between her and her masked intruder and things kick off right away. The candle scene was interesting for sure lol.
Overall it's a short and entertaining read that carries the mafia trope pretty well, and follows its narrative in storyline, but it fell flat in some areas for me throughout. Not enough to matter though and I am looking forward to book two this coming year. I feel like this story has the vibes where good series tend to be born from so I'm interested in seeing how it continues.
Childhood sweethearts become degenerate lovers. It’s a Christmas miracle!
The chemistry and history between the two leads makes this novella shine.
Nicole is every dark romance girlie—hungry for passion that scares her, while simultaneously baffled by her own lack of self-preservation. She chases something dangerous because she’s SURE it’s not; because some deep, intrinsic part of her recognizes that she is, in fact, safe with the masked man who breaks into her home, even before she confirms his identity. Nicole’s contradictions are the best thing about her: a rich child of a workaholic who seeks beauty and art instead of more wealth, a meek woman who loves MMA and rough sex as much as she loves decorating Christmas cookies, a girl with a trust-fund who wants to make her own way.
Christiano, meanwhile, is a mafia “fixer” who often gets his hands dirty, but finds unbelievable softness for the girl he’s been missing since childhood. His chapters are a cross between obsession and devotion, and the way he supports Nicole—even as a masked intruder—is “goals”-level behaviour.
Some dark romance is a descent, where the leads make each other worse and it’s delicious to watch. Silent Night Sins, in contrast, is both ascent and descent: Nicole gets stronger, Tino gets bolder, and while his morals degrade hers, they find a level of loyalty and devotion together that is honestly beautiful.
The writing is solid and the pacing is excellent. The only thing that kept this from a fifth star is how sudden the decision at the end felt. I would have loved a little more of a discussion or deliberation about where they end up. But as a prequel novella which serves as both a standalone love story AND an introduction to the tension between Enzo and Amanda, SNS does its job very, very well.
And now I have to wait TEN WHOLE DAYS for Crimson Night Sins to come out!
She wasn’t supposed to be there that night. But maybe this was the Christmas miracle he'd been waiting on for far too long. Nicky comes home for the holidays with her life in smoking ruins, hoping for twinkling lights, family and a chance to steady herself and find her feet. Instead, she walks into an empty house… and a masked man slipping through the door. But the wildest part? What hits her at that moment isn’t fear, it’s a sharp, electric thrill. One that only intensifies as the chase begins, tugging every dark fantasy she’s tried to deny right to the surface. And why does this stranger feel so oddly familiar? I loved how Cristiano keeps returning in new masks, each one an excuse to stretch their erotic cat-and-mouse a little further. He knows he should stay away, but Nicky is his one irresistible weakness. Once, they were inseparable, until her father went legit and their lives split down opposite sides of the law. Now Cristiano’s mafia ties make him forbidden… which only makes their chemistry burn all the hotter. Nicky has her suspicions about who’s behind the mask, but it’s so much easier, and so much more delicious to keep playing their forbidden game. Their connection is intense, the tension perfect, and the spice absolutely hot. Still, both of them dread the moment when the masks come off and reality storms back in. Can a stolen holiday fantasy survive the world outside? With obsession, desire, and the kind of heat that can melt icicles at ten paces, this is exactly the brand of Christmas cheer I can’t get enough of. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Today was absolute chaos. Work was feral, my brain was fried, and I needed something short, dark, and filthy to cleanse the palate. So I picked up this novella…and devoured it like I hadn’t eaten all week. Best decision ever.
The FMC returns home for Christmas hoping for a soft holiday…until a masked man shows up in the snow and everything turns wicked. Family secrets, danger in the dark, forced proximity, and a man who knows how to ruin you for anyone else. It’s fast-paced, high tension, and hotter than hell under the twinkling lights — with a full HEA and extra spice tied in a bow.
Now onto the real talk:
🖤 The masks. Not one. Not two. Multiple. Each encounter more feral and delicious than the last. I’m just saying…if a gorgeous masked intruder wants to break into my house every night for different-roleplay-night, the door might "accidentally" stay unlocked.
🔥 The smut? Toe-curling. Pulse-spiking. Knees-weakening. There’s one scene where she takes control and puts him at her mercy and I nearly ascended. Power balance? Perfect.
🍰 And listen… I will never look at an icing sugar piping bag the same way again. Let’s just call it multi-purpose kitchen equipment and leave it at that 😳
❄️ Christmas atmosphere but make it sinful. Romance wrapped in danger. Fear turned into hunger. A protector who becomes the obsession. And best of all: no cheating. Ever. Just commitment, tension, and every filthy fantasy fulfilled.
Final verdict: Short. Dark. Steamy. Exactly what a chaotic December night needed. This book delivered every single wicked promise it made — and now I need more masked men for the holidays.

“I craved the villain wielding the instrument of my demise.”
3⭐️ I went into this one with decent expectations, but I’ll be honest; the first half felt very cookie-cutter, stock-standard dark romance. Masked MMC, predictable beats, and a plot that follows the dark romance formula so closely it almost feels like it’s ticking boxes rather than doing anything new with it.
The Christmas element had potential, the Krampus-style mask was actually pretty fun and visually interesting, but even that couldn’t quite save the early part from feeling a bit bland and underwhelming. I was definitely hovering dangerously close to a DNF at this point.
And then… the switch.
Around the 50% mark, the hunter becomes the hunted and suddenly the story wakes up. That twist genuinely caught me off guard, and I was completely here for it. The power shift added tension, intrigue, and finally gave the story some bite. If the whole book had leaned into that energy from the start, this easily could’ve been a higher-rated read for me.
That said, I’m grateful it’s a short read, it came in clutch when I needed one more book to hit my Goodreads goal, and the second half absolutely redeemed it enough for me to finish on a positive note.
Overall: a slow, generic start, but a surprisingly strong twist in the back half saved it from being a total miss. Worth it if you like quick dark romance reads and enjoy a late-game power reversal just be prepared to push through the beginning.
Silent Night Sins was such a surprisingly fun, dark, and spicy holiday read — exactly the kind of Christmas chaos I love in romance. Alexa Michaels managed to pack a full storyline, real tension, and so much chemistry into a short novella, and it never once felt rushed.
I loved the darker edges woven into the Christmas setting — the light mafia vibes, the masked-man tension, that “it’s always been you” energy, and the childhood friends-to-lovers twist. Nicole and Cristiano? Absolutely electric. Their connection feels intense from the start, and the spice is done in a way that fits the mood perfectly: dark, tempting, and just festive enough to give it that seasonal flair.
Nicole’s chaotic family, the secretive masked presence in her room, the moment of the reveal — all of it created this fast-paced, addictive rhythm that kept me hooked. And I honestly loved the little hints we get about his brother and her sister — definitely a setup that makes me excited for more stories in this universe.
If you’re looking for a darker holiday novella with tension, heat, and a plot that actually delivers even in a short format, add Silent Night Sins to your December TBR. It’s quick, spicy, and atmospheric — exactly the kind of festive trouble I want in a dark romance.
The plot was solid and engaging, with enough tension to keep things moving while still leaving room for the relationship to take center stage. It felt purposeful and well paced, never dragging and never confusing. I stayed invested from start to finish.
The characters were the standout for me. They felt layered, emotional, and easy to connect with. Their chemistry was intense, but what really worked was how real their interactions felt. I cared about them individually and as a couple, which made everything hit harder.
The spice was excellent. It was frequent, well written, and actually served the story instead of interrupting it. Every scene felt intentional and elevated the connection between the characters. Definitely a highlight of the book.
The ending wrapped things up well and felt satisfying overall, though I would have loved just a bit more depth or aftermath to really seal the deal emotionally. Still, it delivered and did not disappoint.
Overall, Silent Night Sins was a strong, memorable read that balanced plot, character depth, and heat extremely well. Easily a 4.5 star book for me and one I would recommend if you want spice with substance and characters that stick with you after the last page.
A Christmas novella in February? Why not? This one is good to read at ANY time of year. It had me in a chokehold right from the start. The characters were perfection. The suspense and tension going on between Nicky and her “monster” left me turning page after page. I read this in just a few hours. I couldn’t get enough of Nicky and Christiano. Nicky has an attitude on her with hilarious snarky comments but she’s level headed. Tino had smarts about him, thinking before acting which was a delight to see. It made these characters more real. And I loved that. They had drama, emotions, humor and it all worked well. This being a short mafia inspired story was what pulled me in originally. The spice was SPICING. I know, I know—we’re not supposed to engage with strange masked men breaking into our homes, but I mean when Tino acts like that, how can you not. And to be honest, he wasn’t really a stranger, was he? So in a way, it’s totally fine. I wished it had been a bit longer but I have been feeling that way about most novella’s lately because they have all been fantastic. I loved reading this and hopefully we see more of them in the future.

Nicole, has not much to look forward this Christmas. She has broken up with her cheating boyfriend and without a job at the moment, she has travelled all the way from Europe to visit her family for the Christmas holidays, only to find the house empty. She would put up the decoration to make it cosy and warm….unaware of the monster lurking outside in the dark.
Christiano, is a (masked) man on a mission. He will break into the old lawyer’s house to blackmail him into working with them instead of against them. What he doesn’t expect is to find his childhood friend there, the girl he adored…her…his Nicky…They couldn’t have a future back then. His family worked for the Italian mafia, while her father was the lawyer that had sworn to put them in jail.
She wasn’t supposed to be there, but there she was…full of sass, instead of fearing the big, masked monster that broke into her house, she provoked him. She was ready to play this game but at her own terms. She would run, but this monster would chase and once he caught her, he would never let her go.
A beautiful, heartfelt and spicy christmas tale, where hurt finds healing, out of difficulties grow miracles and hope and magic makes dreams come true. Well done Alexa!!! It was so much fun to read!!!
