A love story told entirely through a couple’s text thread. (Romance/Fiction)
I love you, but... offers a raw, unfiltered glimpse into modern romance—one emoji, one late-night pic, one heart-wrenching text at a time.
Like picking up a stranger’s phone and scrolling through something too private to look away from, this book gives readers front-row access to a relationship as it unfolds in real time.
Sparks fly when Zoey, a spirited kindergarten teacher, meets Green Eyes, an ad exec, during a boozy night at a dive bar that ends with an unforgettable kiss. As their connection deepens, it’s clear this is more than a one-night attraction—moving from flirty banter to emotional confessions, from sibling drama to shared fantasies.
But when the question of kids surfaces, everything shifts.
She wants a family. He doesn’t.
What follows is a gut-wrenching, tender, and darkly funny exploration of what happens when two people fall deeply in love—but want fundamentally different futures.
Part modern romance, part digital diary, I love you, but... is a painfully honest portrait of intimacy in the age of texting—and the fragile line between compromise and self-betrayal.

Honestly was surprised with how funny and good the book is. It's different for sure never read a book in just text forms but I will say it was a very good book. With all the jokes and being able to actually see their relationships grow id definitely would recommend this to someone for a short fast read.
I looked at this and thought there was no way a book full of text messages would be good. How wrong I was! I have read a lot of romance in my time, but the emotions in these simple yet complex messages were derived from reality and not the fantasy of typical romance. Would definitely recommend for a quick read!
This is a very quick read, and I highly recommend it. Anyone who has been in the dating scene while cellphones dominated our communication, will 100% understand this story. I felt like I was experiencing the emotions with the couple. My heart goes out to both of them. The ending was a nice touch.
