By the 4th chapter i was rooting for the "MC" and everyone else to die and the whole premise to restart. Why, because I am so tired if these book trying so hard to put the character(s) in such an unbelievable and impossible situation so that there is no solution other than the author writings some idiotic dues ex. By chapter 5 I couldn't take it any more. I could care less to see how the MC will grow and challenge the world he has been kidnapped into. The first 5 chapters told me everything. The author was going to continually put the MC in ridiculous situations, the provide some convoluted plot device or dues ex to get him out, rinse and repeat. The only real struggle is for the NPC characters who are introduced and then killed or left to provide so false sense of "reality" and suspense.
This was a thrill ride from start to finish! I was immediately sucked in by Alex’s situation with his jerk boss (who hasn’t been there?) and found the way that the author made his characters relatable and sympathetic while also getting the story moving quickly, really worked! This book was so much fun. I was on the edge of my seat as Alex encountered one challenge after another. Action scenes were well described and nicely paced. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, there was another cool twist in store. Definitely recommended! 5/5 stars.
Maybe a little slow at the start. Or rather it kinda had 3 beginnings the way I read it. Still a great start to a new story and was a fun quick read. Some light wold building that left doors open for more later on. Fine main character who isn’t an idiot even if he won’t put points into intelligence… yeah I’ll be grabbing book 2 asap.
