The moment he saw her, he knew. The words left his lips before he realized it.

"How can I find peace if my soul has been torn apart?"
This book was something I had the orlasure of reading 6 months ago when it was first written and I loved every second of it. Getting to reread it as an ARC just cemented my love for it. It is the polar opposite of everything you have ever gotten from Lesley before but it is just as steeped in genius as all of her other works.
This book is filled with witches, vampires, curses, secret societies, Fated mates and everything is steeped in with the most epic descriptions. I cannot wait for book2!!!!
This dark horror romantasy grabs vour attention immediately. This story is pure horror with romance at the core. The gothic backdrop of this story sets the stage for all of the terrors that lurk. The author describes death and viscera in such a way that we can smell the iron in the air. You come expecting a regular vampire story and leave with a new obsession.
“A Restless Fate” - I swear to the old Gods, I must be under some spell, what have you done to me Lesley?!
★★★★★
This was my first “Dark Romantasy” novel and at this point I am convinced Lesley secretly pours magic into her writing making me a slave to her words.
From the get go I felt like I was transported into a magical world filled with dread, darkness and mystical creatures and beings. There was a constant feeling of danger lurking and a mystery that I needed to unravel. The urge to keep reading was so strong and the characters kept me on the edge of my seat. I caught myself falling in love with this tale and it’s “spicy” beings *wink wink* and I will be waiting in agony for part 2 because my soul needs it!
I’m sorry but I had a hard time getting through this book. It just wasn’t for me.
I felt there was no character development. I never felt an emotional attachment to any of characters. There was no character growth or redemption. In many of these books the characters are morally gray (or black) but they usually have some redeeming qualities. I didn’t find a single character that I got invested in or I felt was going to have some redeeming qualities.
I get that the twins in the book are cursed and maybe that’s why there was not a redemption arc. Maybe that’s coming in book 2 since the curse was not lifted in this book?
The story made big jumps in just a few pages but in other places the explanations seemed to go on for chapters.
Since I got an ARC of this book I felt like I owed it to the author to finish it in case the story picked up at some point. Otherwise, I would have DNF’d this. Neither the story nor the writing ever drew me in. I get it is supposed to be a dark romance but it was pretty light on the romance/plot and heavy on the dark spice. I felt it was overtly gory in many places. The reader could have gotten the idea the brutality of the vampires without the play by play gore that got very repetitive.
If you are a fan of dark romance, maybe you would enjoy it. But be sure to check the triggers before going in because there are a lot of tough topics used in the story.
