From best friends and the love of my life to strangers in the blink of an eye.
From the outside my life is perfect. I'm living the dream as the star forward for the San Diego Seals. I have the penthouse, the sports car and women who throw themselves at my feet. But the only woman I want doesn't even know how I feel.
Lottie
My best friend since we were ten, she has been my rock, my constant and biggest fan. She's the only person who knows the real me.
The only catch...
I’m firmly in the friend zone.
Then one night I almost get my chance until Lottie runs from me.
I’m determined to tell her how I feel until I receive a call that flips my world upside down taking Lottie with it.
She would always say to me ‘Remember me when you're famous' but what if it's her who needs to remember me?
KJ Pointer also known as Kel lives in sunny Kent with her husband John and her black rescue cat Dudley. She is in her late thirties but acts like a ninety year old and loves nothing more than staying at home in her pjs reading a book from her never-ending TBR with an iced coffee. Kel loves all romance in particular hockey, small town and cowboy romances. Remember Me is Kel's debut novel and has been a year in the making with more to come from the San Diego Seal's soon.

I don’t even really know how to explain this one because I kept waiting for it to grab me emotionally and fully pull me under… and it just kind of kept me at arm’s length the whole time. 😔 Like I was reading about something that should’ve wrecked me, but I never fully dropped into it.
The connection between Jake and Lottie... I just needed more. 🤷🏼♀️ More history on the page, more actual lived in moments, more scenes that made their bond feel undeniable instead of something I was just being told existed. I could see what it was trying to be, but I couldn’t fully feel it, and that made it hard to stay emotionally invested.
I also struggled with both characters feeling a bit flat at times. I couldn’t quite grab onto who they were as people beyond the role they were playing in the story. That disconnect made the emotional parts... not really land as well as I had hoped.
That being said, I did really appreciate Jake in certain moments. He had that steady, patient, almost grounding kind of love that shows up and doesn’t demand anything in return. 🫶🏼 Especially with how he handled Lottie’s healing, there were flashes where I could feel how deeply he cared, and I wish more of that emotional weight had been given space to breathe.
But there were also a few things, like the memory situation, that pulled me out of the story because I couldn’t fully make sense of it. (wym she remembered everything EXCEPT him?? just super unrealistic imo) And once I start questioning the logic, I lose that emotional thread pretty fast 🥲
Still, it wasn’t a bad read. 😌 There were tender moments scattered throughout, and I can see what it was trying to do emotionally. It just felt like I was on the outside of it instead of inside it. 🤷🏼♀️ I think I just wanted more depth, more longing, more time to feel everything building instead of it moving past me too quickly. Overall it's still a sweet and easy read that I would recommend to friends 🫶🏼

Watching Lottie and Jake dance around years of friendship and hidden feelings felt so natural and heartfelt, especially with Jake being such an effortlessly caring, green-flag love interest. The slow-burn romance pulled me in immediately, and their connection felt genuine from the very first page.
Then the story takes an emotional turn that genuinely caught me off guard. It becomes a moving story about grief, healing, and trying to rediscover yourself after life changes overnight. I do think the pacing dragged slightly in places, and I would have liked to see more focus on the professional support side of healing, but the emotional impact still landed hard.
Even through all the heartbreak, there is so much warmth in the friendships and the quiet moments shared between them. The romance feels comforting, tender, and deeply earned, making it impossible not to root for them.
Such a beautiful debut, and I cannot wait to see where this series goes next.

Huge thank you to KJ Pointer & The Romance Room PR for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
Thank you @authorkjpointer and @romanceroompr for the ARC.
This book was truly a fantastic read. I loved bombarding K when live updates and reactions 😂 thank you for being there through the tears 😭 for a debut this is truly outstanding! You can feel how much love and hard work has gone into this book and I’m now on countdown for more work from K! 🫶🏻
The story was honestly so beautiful. My heart broke and healed throughout and I found at the end of every chapter I just needed to keep reading. When a book makes me want to continue reading like that it is automatically 5 ⭐️
Jake and Lotties love story was beautiful and Jake had me swooning - the sweetest and biggest green flag 🥹 this book was filled with so many moments of pure love and emotion but balanced perfectly with the spice 🔥
I highlighted so so many moments but one that always sticks to mind (aside from the moment in the post) is:
“You are literally etched onto my skin Lottie. You’re in my head and my heart… so deep that I have been content for the last 16 years to take whatever scraps of yourself you were willing to give me… I’ll be damned if I’m ever letting you go.”
😭😭😭
I also felt so invested in the side characters as well and it’s setting up perfectly for an incredible interconnected series 🫶🏻
I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a beautiful feel good romance with the friends to lovers, found family, it’s always been you tropes 🩷
HUGE Congratulations to KJ Pointer for her debut novel that is released today! I loved the emotional read, if you love a hockey romance where best friends become lovers, the MMC is a major green flag and no 3rd act break up then you’ll love this so go support a new author who has put herself out there through this emotional storyline 🤗 Jake & Lottie were so cute together especially under the storyline circumstances.

♥ This was such an emotional story and at times gut wrenching! I really enjoyed Jake and Lottie’s story it was beautiful but heartbreaking at the same time. I loved Kayla she was so funny, I liked all the side characters but Kayla is definitely my favourite!! I would love to see her get her own book someday, I was giggling and kicking my feet through the happy warm funny moments, I have fallen in love with this series I cannot wait for book 2! ♥
This book is a romance with a hockey backdrop rather than a true hockey romance — the sport is present, but the emotional journey is clearly at the center of the story. It’s also the first installment in an upcoming series.
Charlotte and Jake have been best friends since they were ten years old. First pen pals, then inseparable after Charlotte moved across the country to join him in college in San Diego. Sixteen years after those first letters, they’re still trapped in the friend zone… despite being deeply and secretly in love with each other.
Now Jake is a star hockey player for the San Diego Seals, while Lottie is a shy and talented book cover artist.
On Charlotte’s 26th birthday, Jake is finally ready to confess his feelings… but everything goes wrong, and she runs away. The next day, a terrible car accident leaves Charlotte severely injured and takes the lives of both her parents.
When she wakes up from her coma, she remembers everything… except him.
Jake becomes a stranger with tears in his eyes — someone she doesn’t recognize, yet somehow still feels safe with. As Charlotte grieves her parents and tries to rebuild herself, Jake stays by her side, hoping to find his way back to her heart. Whether through memories that may return… or by creating brand new ones together ❤️
I enjoyed this book despite a few inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story at times. Considering the trauma, grief, and memory loss involved, I would have expected therapy and emotional support to play a larger role. And searching memories without reading journals and letters is odd… Some parts also felt longer than necessary.
Still, the relationship itself was genuinely sweet, full of small meaningful gestures that made the romance feel tender and comforting.
🌶️ spice here, a bit too much for the plot
✨ A cosy friends-to-lovers romance about grief, memory, and loving someone patiently enough to begin again.
First I want to say that I loved the overall plot to this story. The amnesia trope is a newer one to me and I have to say that I've enjoyed the last few books I've read with the trope!
I'm going to get right into my dislikes, and then I'll round out with likes at the end. The way that the book was going around 25% I really thought that Lottie was going to get her memories back a few at a time through reliving experiences/moments, things that Jake did to help trigger a memory, etc. And we DID get that... a few times. I really thought by the end something was going to trigger the rest of her memories or she would have gained way more of them back, and her and Jake would have then truly celebrated their relationship while looking back at how much they went through to get there. However, that didn't happen. She never got most of her memories back, and she just kind of fell in love with Jake because of how amazing he was to her. It just felt a but disconnected that the book talks up this huge, amazingly special friendship and then... the rest of the book is about someone who doesn't even remember it and even acts a little differently than she was first described. I also personally felt that if I were in Jake's position, it would have been really hard to just continue on like nothing had changed with Lottie, like I wouldn't be able to immediately continue a friendship/being in love with someone while they had NO idea who I was at all. IMO, it would completely change the entire dynamic in every single way. It was a quick read for me but it did feel a bit like I was reading a YA novel (but with spice), just the general feel of the writing, how the characters acted, and a lot of things were told to the reader instead of feeling them, it all felt much younger to me and sort of one dimensional.
NOW I know that seems like I had a lot of issues with the book, but I did mostly enjoy the overall story. It was clear to see how the future books were set up with side characters, and I really liked how close Jakes mom (Hannah) was with everyone while still being motherly. Seeing as she was on the young side, she was able to form and keep some great friendships with those closest to her son. Lotties parents were a surprise twist to the amnesia story arc and I can't imagine how unbearable it must have been for her to lose both parents, and then be told she doesn't remember a single memory about the closest person in her entire life. I thought Louis' character was particularly funny with his little french sayings sprinkled throughout for comedic relief 😂
Thank you to Happily Booked PR and the author for allowing me to read and review!

This story gutted me and then put me back together again. The San Diego Seals series starts off with a book that will stick with me. Remember Me by KJ Pointer, while a romance at heart, is a reminder to not take things for granted because in a split second they can change. I am very impressed with how many emotions KJ was able to stir within me while reading this book and as her debut novel, she is an author I can’t wait to see more from. And while hockey plays a role in this book it is not what the book is centered around.
Jake and Lottie were so easy to want to read about. Their friendship is solid and has been built through the years. They started as pen pals in the 5th grade and continued their correspondence until college. As they attended the same college they were able to continue to grow but in person. Jake is head over heels for Lottie and while he wants to tell her, it has never been the right moment. When he finally decides to create the perfect moment rather than wait, his world is turned upside down in an instance. While he isn’t sure how to continue their relationship, he knows for sure he isn’t going anywhere when Lotti needs him the most.
Lottie has been betrayed by her own mind. Having to deal with holes in your memory is only something I can imagine. However, while her memories may be scattered, her body tells her that she is safe with Jake and he can be trusted. Her journey brought me to tears and moments that I just stared at the book thinking “holy!!”. What she doesn’t realize is that while Jake is her safe place, she is his safe place. The way these two compliment each other is absolutely beautiful.
KJ definitely knows how to write in a way that made me not able to put this story down. Everything about our two MCs is perfect and their journey is one I am so glad I took with them. I loved the subtle reminders throughout the book of life lessons that we take for granted. Say the words aloud, don’t hold them back. Home can be a place, but it can also be, and most often is, a person or people in your life. Love isn’t always easy, but when it is worth fighting for, fight for it as hard as you can. I truly am excited to see what KJ writes next in this series and can’t wait to meet more of the team.
As always, review any author notes before reading.

Just want to start saying I am so so proud of Kel. She has honestly knocked it out of the park with her debut book. I was fortunate to read this month's ago whilst Kelly wrote it and it was everything and so much more then, and reading it again tonight, it brought all those feels back. Believe me when I have re read it, I was a sobbing mess again. It's amazing and again like the first time I read this I was totally consumed. You would never believe this was her first book, I told her when I first read this and I will repeat it again this is one of my favourites of all time. Parts of this book resonate with me, especially parts written from Kelly's past experiences and she executed these scenes perfectly.
I don't want to give too much away but this centres around a very anxious, introvert, bookish Lottie and the gentlest, greenest of green flag going NHL hockey star Jake, after starting a friendship as pen pals in 5th grade, they finally never meet in college which Lottie travels across the country to attend. The story starts 8 years later, all this time Jake has been utterly in love with Lottie, with his 3 San Diego Seals team mates and best friends ribbing him about it. Little does he realise Lottie is in love with him but thinks he will never notice her more than a friend. I want to give both these characters a massive hug. I love them so much.
After Lottie is involved in horrific car crash in which it changes her life forever, the person by her side every step of the way is Jake, during this time their friendship develops in the most beautiful way into what they both have secretly wanted for many years after going through a lot of trauma together.
Yes, many tears were shed during this book, but also you have the laughs with an amazing friends, resulting in found family. Kayla is an absolute hoot, you have to read to find out what I am talking about. Add in spice and a few cute dogs and a dad dog chat. This book has everything.
I loved being on this journey with you, thank you for letting me tag along. You have a lot of talent and I so excited of what is to come. Now just impatiently waiting to get them home on my shelf. 🧡
I don’t even know how to function after Remember Me. KJ Pointer took my heart, stitched Jake and Lottie all over it, and then ran me over emotionally with a Zamboni for good measure. FIVE STARS. ALL THE STARS. I am unwell. 🥹🏒💔
Jake and Lottie had me hooked immediately because the best friends to lovers tension in this book was INSANE. The history between them felt so real and lived in. You could feel how deeply they knew each other in every conversation, every memory, every little moment that carried years of love underneath it. And poor Jake being hopelessly in love with her while trying to survive the torture chamber known as the friend zone?? Sir, stand up before I cry again.
And then THAT twist. That phone call. Suddenly this sweet, aching romance turned into emotional warfare and I was sitting there staring at my kindle like I’d personally been betrayed by the universe. The way this story handled love, memory, grief, hope, and second chances absolutely wrecked me.
Jake was everything. Famous hockey star on the outside, complete soft disaster for Lottie on the inside. I loved that no matter how successful he became, she was always the center of his world. Every scene with them had this warmth and longing that made my chest hurt in the best way. Their connection wasn’t just chemistry, it felt foundational. Like these two souls were built around each other from the beginning.
And LOTTIE 😭🥰 she was sunshine and heart and comfort wrapped into one person. You completely understand why Jake loved her so fiercely. Their banter, their loyalty, the tiny moments that meant everything… it all felt so authentic. This book didn’t just tell me they were best friends. It MADE me believe it.
Also can we talk about the emotional damage?? Because one minute I was smiling like an idiot and the next I was blinking back tears while clutching my blanket dramatically like a Victorian widow waiting for bad news at sea.
KJ Pointer wrote a romance that felt soft, painful, hopeful, and beautiful all at once. Jake and Lottie completely own a piece of my heart now and I already know this is one of those stories I’ll think about randomly at 1am for the next six months. Absolute perfection.
Remember Me by KJ Pointer was an emotional rollercoaster. I’m always weak for best friends-to-lovers romances, but adding the amnesia trope into the mix made this story even more heartbreaking. I normally don't like how heavy amnesia trope was but in this novel, it was handled beautifully. Watching Jake struggle with loving someone who no longer remembers the life and relationship they built over the years together genuinely hurt.
Jake was probably my favorite part of the book. His love for Charlotte felt so real, devoted, and painful, especially during the moments where he was trying so hard to hold onto their connection while also respecting her current situation. I loved how he never forced Charlotte remember him but instead stayed beside her and he became anything she needed him to be while she was recovering.
I also wanted to give kudos to the author because I liked how easy the writing style was to binge. Once the drama started unfolding, I kept wanting to know how everything would turn out for them. I kept wanting things to finally be okay between them. The chemistry between Jake and Charlotte was still there even after the memory loss, which made their journey feel emotional and hopeful at the same time. I loved how realistic each character's reaction was to the situation.
That said, there were moments where the emotional conflict felt a little repetitive, and some of the communication issues became frustrating after a while. I also would’ve loved a bit more focus on Charlotte individually outside of the romance and emotional fallout.
Overall, this was an angsty and emotional sports romance that will probably work really well for readers who love memory loss tropes, second chances, and mmc who are completely down bad for the fmc. It definitely put me through a rollercoaster, but I still ended up invested in Jake and Charlotte’s story by the end.
Many thanks to the KJ Pointer and RomanceRoomPR for allowing me early access to this book. I’m leaving this review voluntarily, and all thoughts are my honest reaction to the story
Remember Me by KJ Pointer is an absolute emotional powerhouse of a debut. If you love a heavy-angst, best-friend-to-lovers story that completely pulls at your heartstrings, you need to clear your schedule for this one. Just a fair warning: go ahead and grab a box of tissues before you start chapter one, because it will completely wreck you in the best possible way.
The story follows Jake, a star hockey forward for the San Diego Seals, and Lottie, his introverted, bookish childhood best friend. They have been harboring massive, secret feelings for each other for years, completely trapped in the friend zone. But right when the tension finally comes to a head, a tragic car accident changes everything, leaving Lottie with amnesia, and the only person she has completely forgotten is Jake.
Watching Jake navigate the heartbreak of becoming a complete stranger to the girl he loves is deeply moving. He is the ultimate green-flag book boyfriend, patient, fiercely loyal, and willing to do whatever it takes to help her heal without ever forcing her. Watching Lottie try to piece her life back together after the crash, while Jake quietly stays by her side, was just so heavy and beautifully written.
While the book does feature a hockey backdrop, the sport definitely takes a backseat to the intense emotional journey, trauma healing, and mutual pining between the main characters. The chemistry is absolutely undeniable, and when the slow-burning tension finally breaks, the payoff is incredibly satisfying and balanced with some great spice.
The secondary cast and the found-family dynamic add so much warmth and needed humor to an otherwise heavy storyline. I fell completely in love with the girlhood friendships and the hilariously chaotic hockey teammates. This is a stunning debut novel, and I am already looking forward to the next books in the series!
A big thank you to KJ Pointer and Happily Booked Pr for this amazing ARC.
ARC Review 🎨 Remember Me 🏒 Book 1 in the San Diego Seals Series Written By: @authorkjopinter
Overall: 4/5 Overall plot: 4/5 Character development: 4/5 Pace: 4/5 World building: 4/5 Spice 🌶️: 1.5/5
First and foremost, thank you @authorkjopinter and @happilybookedpr for the ARC ahead of release 💗
I really enjoyed Lottie and Jake’s story. It had heart, heartbreak, mutual pining, and so much yearning. Jake may look like he has the perfect life as the San Diego Seals’ star forward, but underneath all of it, the only thing he’s ever truly wanted was Lottie—his best friend, biggest supporter, and the girl he’s loved since they were kids.
The way KJ wrote Lottie’s journey back to Jake after her accident made it impossible not to root for them. I loved how little moments, memories, and shared history slowly brought them back to each other after everything changed in the blink of an eye.
What really made this story work for me was how deeply connected they were from the start. From being pen pals at ten years old to Jake always quietly loving her while stuck in the friend zone, their relationship felt emotional and believable. Watching years of buried feelings finally surface was SO satisfying.
The found family element was also one of my favorite parts of the book. The side characters genuinely felt supportive, loyal, and deeply connected, which added so much warmth to the story.
And Jake? Absolute GREEN FLAG book boyfriend material 🚨 The way he continuously showed up for Lottie, supported her, and persevered through everything was honestly one of the strongest parts of the story for me.
If you love heartfelt hockey romances with best friends-to-lovers tension, emotional healing, found family, and a sweet but devoted MMC, definitely add this to your TBR.

Oh this book is so sweet! 🥰 It made me feels all the emotions, from happiness to heartbreak. It was gut wrenching at times and others I felt like I could burst with joy for the main characters. Overall, a sweet, second chance (but not in the traditional sense!) hockey romance with a hard won HEA! I can't wait for book 2!
Jake is the epitome of a green flag MMC through and through. He's been in love with his best friend for years but never had the guts to tell her then fate had to go and throw a wrench in his plans and suddenly the only person who knew the real him doesn't remember him anymore.
Lottie is a sweet FMC who has been dealt a rough hand in life. She's been in love with her best friend for years but convinced herself that he would never feel the same and all she feels is reduced to an unrequited crush. Then fate has other ideas when one night suddenly changes everything. Now she is seeing things in a different light and her best friend isn't the person she remembers him to be.
This book honestly tugged at my heart strings but in the bestest way! Going on the journey of remembrance with Lottie has been such a wild ride. I honestly felt like I was watching this happen to a real couple, I was so invested towards the end of the book! I'm so pleased it ends in HEA, even if things aren't quite the same as before but that's the point! Fate gave Jake & Lottie a nudge in the right direction in an unusual, explosive fashion but it all worked out in the end!
P.s Honerable mention for the friends & family who rallied around the MMCs, showing that in times of strife you need to pull your friends closer. I also absolutely love the 'Dog Dad's Chat' that was hilarious! 🤣🤣 Also Bella knew what was up before her humans did I think 😉
Wow! It's been an absolute pleasure watching Kel take on the journey of moving from reader to author. I am so grateful she has allowed me to be on this journey with her. She has bravely executed a cracker of a story for her debut proving that she's an exciting new author to watch out for.
Remember Me is an emotionally charged story that will at times have you sobbing but then chuckling and then kicking your feet when the characters find their way to love.
Jake and Lottie have been best friends for years. But they have both been secretly pining for one another but they've never been brave enough to tell one another of their feelings. Jake's an NHL Hockey star and a complete extrovert whilst Cover Designer Lottie is more of an introvert but these two are a perfect match.
When a tragic accident occurs it stops them being able to tell one another of their feelings and so can they find a way back to one another?
Lottie in particular goes through a lot in this book and the anxiety element was written really well. It literally jumped off the page. My heart went out to her. And let's not forget the greenest of green flags, Jake. Oh my how my heart melted for this guy. I loved him in every single way. And every time he said his catchphrase I melted and chuckled a little further.
This book was beautifully authentic and I was hooked from page one wanting to know how the story would unfold.
There is an amazing found family in this book and the foundations have been set for more books in the series. We got a great idea of all the personalities etc and it's exciting guessing what's to come.
“You may not remember me fully, but every detail I have of you is ingrained in my brain so thoroughly I could never ever forgot you. Those scars you wear? Wear them with pride, baby, they are signs you’re alive. Signs you’re a survivor, a warrior … They’re signs I haven’t lost you”
First reading this, I thought, oh this nice. Best friends. Girls, men, family, dogs, birthdays etc then BAM! Heartbreak. I was not expecting that! The title should have gave me some sort of inkling, but I didn’t pay much attention. Now I knew I should have, it would have prepared my heart to not break as much as it did.
Although my heart hurt for Jake. I absolutely loved his dedication to Lottie. The dedication to not giving up on her, helping her with remembering, her recovery. Even though it pained him.
My heart broke for Lottie. She lost everything that she had known and loved in such a tragic way. And to find out weeks later to then having to deal with that alongside her own recovery, was powerful. Despite her natural downfall, I liked the way she refused to give up on remembering why Jake was so important to her.
I loved all the characters, especially Kayla. She was hilarious! Mourning her husband’s recent ‘change’ had me rolling. Hannah, how she was the mother but also a friend to all the girls. I loved how she was included in everything the girls did. Even the saucy Bookclub chats.
Overall, The passion, the determination, the love and support throughout this story was amazing. And I cannot wait to see who the next book will be about. I’m hoping it’s either Kayla, giving the ending or Alyssa so we get to find out who her mystery man is 😏.
I originally received this as an ARC from the author. I have debated whether or not to even review it because I just don’t like giving negative reviews, but now two weeks later, I’ve decided to go ahead and post.
I did not finish this, and honestly, I didn’t even get very far before making that decision. DNF’d at less than 20% in. Maybe I could’ve given it a little more time, but I don’t think it would have changed my mind.
This had all the makings of a book I would normally love -romance, long time penpals, hockey and amnesia. There was just this thing that came up several times that I could not get my brain to ignore. Because of that, every time I picked it up and began reading, I almost immediately put it back down.
I have no issue with UK authors, their writing, or their books. I have read and loved many books by non-US authors and loved them. I think what sets those apart from this, is that there was no illusion of them setting the story in a different place. You knew it was an author from a different country, and the setting was that country. But this book was SET IN THE USA. While there was mention of these 2 MCs living far apart, it made it seem as if they were both from different parts of the US. So, when the language and verbiage used in the book is clearly UK English, it was confusing for my brain. Multiple times in the beginning I kept encountering this, and it made the reading experience terrible.
This was sad for me, because I kept telling my brain to autocorrect in my head, but it would just get stuck. I rarely ever DNF books, and I wanted to love this one. It’s clear many people did, and this is more a me thing than anything else. I just couldn’t do it.
So, I did find this book to be one of those that was easy to read but it did have me frustrated somewhat. I do love the side characters alot especially Kayla! I would love to see a book of her....
Our MMC is Jake and he has been in love with his best friend for along time. However, I was slightly bothered that it took 8 years for him to really go for it. I understand that Lottie had that same time frame but she was the one who was never remotely with anyone. So I understood more on Lottie not saying anything after seeing him with alot of women. Typical hockey romance most men are players but all his friends know he is in love with her.
Lottie has amnesia, lost her parents, is grieving, and is injured from the accident. You see her go through alot of emotions and pain. I cried several times in the beginning because her survivor guilt was so sad. Jake takes every chance to help and be there for her. You had many people who stood by her and did anything they could to comfort her. Without all those people she likely would have been stuck.
Kayla was hilarious and I loved her dramatic mourning wigs, shrine, and all. Hannah and Alyssa were sweet as well. Their book club reading books most of us have probably read was neat.
It has a HEA and I was thinking it would be nice to see Theo in a why choose with Seth and Alyssa ;)

Remember Me ( San Diego Seals Book 1 ) 🏒Hockey Romance 🌸 Best Friends to Lovers 🏒It’s Always a been you 🌸Introvert FMC 🏒Green Flag MMC 🌸 No Third Act Breakup / mental health rep and all the feels . Well KJ Pointer has officially wrecked me , just wrecked me in all the best ways and by the end all the shattered pieces of my heart were somehow put right back together again. I only have one question, how do you not fall in love with this absolutely amazing , Steamy and addictive Love story that KJ has so brilliantly created?I even cannot put into words exactly what is was or all the reasons why , but I just felt such a strong connection To both Lottie and Jake .i loved the progression of their relationship, I loved the history between them , how we get to see it all ( how Lottie has been completely and utterly in love with her best friend for so long yet ( he has no idea at all how she feels . And then the trauma she endured which caused her to lose her memory (omg how my heart literally broke for her . Another thing I absolutely adored was how natural the chemistry/ connection between her and Jake was . Both have flaws , both have struggled and obstacles to overcome , but I think that’s something that just made them that much more relatable to me . This is so much more then your typical hockey : friends to lovers romance. It’s beautiful, it’s messy , it’s a story about friendship and love and heartbreak and healing / second chances. It’s the type of journey that will touch your heart and resonate with you in ways you’ll never ever be expecting.

1. Personal dislike of the amnesia trope. - What exactly does it mean that everything in her life is still the same, but one person has been entirely deleted? That's actually not realistic. While there are certain types of amnesia, you can't just erase an individual and expect the brain to suddenly fill-in the gaps. There would have to be whole events and timeline missing, which isn't how it's presented in the book.
2. The incredibly passive writing. - For example, "You said we've been best friends since we were 10. How did that happen as I didn't live in San Diego then." Can we just talk about the passivity and grammatical errors? I understand this is an ARC read, but surely this couldn't get past an editor, right? A good revision might be, "You said we've been best friends since we were ten. How did that happen? I didn't live in San Diego back then."
3. Why did Jake wait so long to make a move on their relationship? - Eight years after seeing each other for the first time is just a VERY long time to sit with that desire. And to be so up front about needing more than just friendship from her, with no prior warning, is OBVIOUSLY not going to go well.
The book just didn't work for me. It reads like one of those vertical dramas you find on the short reels apps. It feels like a rough draft rather than a polished final piece. 📝
Just finished my ARC of Remember Me by KJ Pointer. It’s her debut novel. But it’s written like she’s been writing for years. It follows Charlotte. A girl who grew up with little friends basically because of shy she is. When she was 10 she gets a pen pal through her school a boy Jake. They write to each other for years then texting and calling. But when Charlotte goes to college they finally meet face to face. Jake has been her best friend for years but she’s always had a crush on him. Jake became a NHL superstar after getting drafted him and Charlotte (who he calls Lottie) are still the best of friends. But he has always felt something more but felt stuck in the friend zone. He decided to tell her the night of her birthday party but things didn’t go to plan. The following day Lottie gets into a terrible car accident with her parents. Due to her injuries she’s placed in a coma. When she awakens she lost all her memories of Jake. But Jake is determined to get her memories back. So he offers to help her while she’s healing. So will Lottie get her memories back or does she and Jake create new ones? I do love this book. It sucked me in super fast. With new authors I read it sometimes takes me a bit to get into the book due to writing styles. But this was chefs kiss. It was funny, sad, sweet. It shows the evolution of friendship to lovers in a natural way. Definitely recommend this book.
This book completely stole my heart!! The way Charlotte and Jake’s story develops is perfect. From being pen pals to meeting in real life, becoming best friends, and eventually falling in love despite all the obstacles thrown their way — every part of their journey is beautifully portrayed.
I adored Charlotte. With her introverted nature and love for books, I saw so much of myself in her. Jake is an absolute green flag, and I fell in love with him the moment he was introduced. Both of the main characters are so precious and wholesome, and you definitely won’t regret reading their story.
The found family trope in this book is immaculate! Along with Jake’s hockey teammates, we also have Kayla, Alyssa, Hanna, and Wren — the girlhood and friendships in this book were so heartwarming to read about. I laughed, I blushed, and most importantly, I cried a lot while reading this story. The writing is beautiful, the world-building is amazing, and now I desperately need a book about every single character + their dogs haha!
I also really appreciated how beautifully the book navigated themes of grief, loss, and recovery. It was painful to read at times, but it also reminded me that with the right people and enough time, healing is possible.
I highly recommend this book if you’re a Sarah Adams fan, or simply a rom-com lover in general.
Remember Me by KJ Pointer Well what an absolute privilege to be accepted for this ARC! And oh boy it did not disappoint! By chapter 6 I was crying. . . CHAPTER 6!!! I firstly stopped crying and then chapter 9 gets me crying again. You need the tissues for this one or send your therapy bill to KJ Pointer. 😂 I devoured this book. I just couldn't put it down. “

He wouldn't spend a moment away from her if he could help it 💕 “𝙵𝚞𝚌𝚔, 𝙸’𝚖 𝚐𝚘𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚘 𝚖𝚒𝚜𝚜 𝚢𝚘𝚞, 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢. 𝙽𝚘𝚝 𝚋𝚎𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚜𝚎𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚋𝚎𝚊𝚞𝚝𝚒𝚏𝚞𝚕 𝚏𝚊𝚌𝚎 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢 𝚍𝚊𝚢.”

This story is about Lottie and Jake. We meet them first when starting college together and learn that they have been pen pals since they were 10 years old. First letters back and forth then switching to texts as they grew up. Jake is a hockeyplayer and Lottie is more the introvert wallflower staying out of spotlights and large crowds. Fast forward to their life in the mid- twenties. They are so deeply in love with one another but so afraid to make any moves because of their long friendship. The story then follows them threw a heartbreaking car accident and the painful road to recovery for them both but in very different ways.
This story broke my heart and put it back together piece by piece. It is so heartwarming to follow their journey of finding each other and their friendship again. I felt their pain so deep and can’t even imagine being erased from my best friend’s memory. I love the flashbacks we get of Lottie’s memories and all her minds puzzle pieces. I love their whole support system of close friends and family. These two are absolutely perfect for each other and when they reach that “fu’ck it” point.. yeesss!!! Fireworks everywhere and descriptions of emotions and feelings is so on point!
This book is an absolute masterpiece with feelings and spice, so don’t put your tissues to far away for this one, because you are gonna need them
Remember Me by KJ Pointer leans more toward a hockey-adjacent romance than a full-on sports romance. It follows Jake and Charlotte, who began as pen pals in elementary school, attended the same college, and remained best friends for years while quietly hoping for something more. Jake is living his dream as a star player for the San Diego Seals; Charlotte is a painfully shy book cover artist.
The story is an emotional journey: Charlotte’s loss of her parents, her amnesia after an accident, and the way the two of them find a deep, true love. After the crash, Charlotte doesn’t remember Jake, yet she feels safe with him. Jake becomes her constant—helping her rebuild her life, reclaim old memories, and make new ones. That steady care is heartwarming.
I enjoyed the book overall, though a few scenes dragged while others moved too quickly. Some traumatic moments felt glossed over and resolved faster than felt realistic. I also found the selective memory loss puzzling: Charlotte remembers Jake’s mother, sister, and details of her life—just not Jake himself. I was disappointed she never hears Jake’s message from the day of the wreck.
The side characters were a highlight, and I’m eager to read their stories in upcoming books. A sweet, easy, and heartwarming read that I would recommend.
Thankful to receive an ARC of this book! Such a fun read.
This book follows Charlotte (Lottie) and Jake who are pen pals turned best friends until a tragic accident strikes resulting in Lottie’s memory loss. This reminded me a little of the Vow, which is one of my favorite movies (I did not read the book) mixed with a sports romance. The MMC is a hockey player who’s got this playboy image but we get to see his soft side as he tries to be there for Lottie during this difficult time in her life, while also dealing with his own grief/struggles.
For me the side characters were a huge part of this book, especially Kayla I thought she was so unhinged and funny and I’d be interested to see if she is going to be the fmc of a future book? And the other guys were a big part too, the dog dad’s chat had me cracking up the whole time.
Overall I thought this was a unique romance with laugh out loud humor. The spice scenes did feel a little much at times and slightly took away from the plot for me but overall this was an easy 4⭐️ read for me!
Be sure to check it out!

Summary: Lottie and Jake have been friends for years, first as pen pals, then as in-person best friends. After a tragic accident left Lottie without memories of Jake and her secret feelings for him, Jake makes it his mission to help her remember him and show her just how much he's been in love with her the whole time.
My thoughts: This was a sweet palate cleanser story. Sometimes you just need a sweet story to get you all nice and warm and comfortable. While there were seriously sad moments and you grieved along with the characters, there were also moments where I was kicking my feet and squealing like a school girl.
Jake is a golden retriever in a hockey player's body. Who doesn't love a man who happily lives to take care of his lady? Lottie’s character development was sweet. Her backstory made me long to be her friend. Their history together was what a sap like me eats up. Honestly, who didn’t dream about having a pen pal as a kid who ended up being a cute guy you could fall in love with?
I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
This book absolutely had my heart beating and me kicking my feet from beginning to end. The chemistry between Lottie and Jake felt so effortless and genuine, and I was instantly hooked!!!! years of friendship, quiet tension, and all the emotions simmering beneath the surface. Jake was such a comforting, caring love interest, and the slow-burn romance was done beautifully.
What I loved most was how emotionally layered the story became. Beneath the romance is such a raw exploration of grief, healing, and learning how to rebuild yourself after life changes in an instant. It hit me far harder than I expected, and there were so many moments that genuinely stayed with me. I definitely believe Jake is in it for the long haul!!
The friendships, the tenderness, and the quiet support between the characters gave the whole story so much warmth. Even during the heavier moments, there was this comforting feeling woven throughout the book that made it impossible not to become emotionally invested.
This was such a stunning debut, and I already cannot wait to see what comes next in the series. Huge thank you to KJ Pointer & The Romance Room PR for the ARC!!

📖E-Arc Review📖 ‼️DISCLAIMER: A review copy of this book has been sent to me by the author & @happilybookedpr . 💭My thoughts: I loved reading “Remember me” by KJ Pointer and was absolutely invested in Lotties and Jakes story 😍 The contrast between the introverted FMC and the very confident hockey star was done well. I also appreciated the fact that Jake never gave up on Lottie even when both of their worlds fell apart. He always showed up for her. . This book deals with a lot! It is an emotional rollercoaster dealing with the loss of parents, lots of grief and even panic attacks. So be aware of all of those things in case they might be triggering for you. . The writing was easy to get into, the chapters had the perfect length and it was quickly paced. I really flew through this. If you love a good and emotional sports romance between childhood best friends, the you should definitely give “Remember me” a try 🥰 . 🌟 Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 . Remember Me by K.J. Pointer, and I had the honor of reading this debut novel as an ARC reader. I absolutely loved this book with all my heart. From the very beginning, I felt completely immersed in the story, like I was right there alongside the characters experiencing every emotion with them.
This book gave me all the feels. Make sure you have tissues nearby because this story completely broke me before putting me back together again.
This is the story of Jake and Charlotte, who have been best friends since they were 10 years old. Their connection felt so genuine and heartfelt, and watching their journey unfold completely stole my heart.
I also loved that the story is set in San Diego, which is my hometown, and it even mentions Disneyland. Reading those familiar places brought back so many fun memories for me and made the story feel even more special and personal.
Jake and Charlotte’s story is one I will not forget anytime soon. This was an emotional, beautiful debut novel that left a lasting impact on me.
