That... holy shit. When Ab said horror, she absolutely meant it. Her and Aimee did such an amazing job with this story! The amount of times I had to step back and be like holy shit did that just happen? I got hooked in from the beginning and if I wasn't so tired last night I would have finished it in one night because they definitely keep you intrigued.

Erotic horror with clowns, pizza, rats and revenge. Please check the TW/CW before reading! Your mental health matters.

This was a fun, wild ride. I loved the little intermissions from Zeth and how he warned the reader about what’s happening. The beginning was great, the first chapter about what happened last summer immediately had me hooked. And I loved how long that chapter was! It really showed the dynamic and friendship between the characters.

I really liked Crissa as a main character and I loved how she got her revenge. Her rat friends were a cute addition and I loved how they also played a part in the story.

The characters got exactly what they deserved and the ending (or the visual of Crissa, Zeth & rats at the end) made me laugh.

“We always just sit down here, get high, and eat. Can’t we mix things up? I’m fucking bored.”
“Friends don’t let friends starve.”
“Alright now remember, just smile and pretend you don’t hate your fucking life right now. Put on a show and it’ll be over before you know it.”
“Mmm. I’d almost forgotten how delicious human blood tasted. Especially when it’s filled with such a hunger for revenge.”
“So…which of you would like to die first? Oh! But a fair warning…none of your deaths will be swift or easy. I shall make sure of it.”
“Mmm. Revenge really is the sweetest meal of all.”
“I stand corrected. You did have a heart after all.”

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

**** ARC REVIEW ****

You guyssss. I was one bad decision away from starting a riot for Carissa. Like grab-a-chair, WWE style, full send on this group of absolute clowns. Carissa might be the one in makeup but this group are the ones acting like fools.

And Zeth?? Daddy demon!! Ready to go to town on some revenge. They had me sitting there like: can you smell what Carissa and Zeth are cooking? Because something GOOD was simmering and I was fully invested.

AB. Cynthe and Aimee‑Jo Hunter absolutely ate with this book. I was only 18% in when it hit me like a drug straight to the veins. Suddenly I’m pacing around my house, emotionally unwell, and actively volunteering to smack Sybil with a folding chair.

The emotional rollercoaster in this one?? I cannot even properly explain it. I was stressed, invested, yelling internally, and living for every second of the chaos.

It releases March 10th and if this is not what you’re reading that day… I truly don’t know what’s wrong with you (Respectfully)

Reading The Nightshift by A.N. Cynethe & Aimee-Jo Hunter was an emotional ride from beginning to end. One of the things that stood out the most to me was how much Crissa endured throughout the story. She went through so much pain and betrayal, yet she continued to push forward. Watching the shift in dynamics between her and the people who were once her best friends was heartbreaking. Their treatment of her was frustrating, and there were moments where I honestly wished I could jump into the pages and confront them myself.
Monty’s betrayal was one of the most upsetting parts of the book for me. His actions felt like a deep stab in the back, especially considering the history and trust that had been built. Lavender’s behavior was just as disappointing. Seeing people who were supposed to be close to Crissa turn against her made the emotional weight of the story even heavier.
Despite all of that, one of the highlights of the novel was Zeth. I fell in love with his character almost instantly. He brought a sense of balance and hope to the story, especially when Crissa needed someone in her corner the most. The way his character developed—and what he ultimately did at the end—was incredibly satisfying and honestly made my heart feel whole. It was the kind of moment that reminds you why you kept reading through all the tension and heartbreak.

Clowns 🤡 Pizza 🍕 Revenge? Will they survive?

This was such a wild ride. Perfect setting was reading this in my throw back to time basement with disco balls and neons everywhere.
This felt like I was in the mall setting from Fear Street on Netflix. It gave me those exact vibes.
The FMC was legit just trying to navigate life and continued to get screwed over and over again. Until finally…she’s able to conjure up some courage and of course a little demon help. Because let’s be honest revenge is always better with a demon right?

This book gave me every 80s trope I could want. Cursed object. Mall aesthetic. 80s characters with 80s attitudes. It even gave me the exact vibe of most 80s movies where the plot is a little loose but in that typical 80s horror way. Where it was more about the atmosphere and the revenge. It wasn’t a psychological horror like modern day. No it’s 80s horror in the most delicious way.

Also why is it always a red head? 😅Either way hated her!

The body horror was top notch and in such a subtle way. It wasn’t over the top going you 10 page details. It was subtlety thrown in that you might miss it. That was magical because it made it feel as though with Zeth (not Seth) in control this was an average Tuesday.

Definitely one of my most fun reads so far.

A bloody, and I mean that in every sense of the word, brilliant erotic horror read! With it’s eighties vibes, pizzeria setting, and that untouchable blasé attitude of all good partying potheads and thoughtless and remorseless bully’s, this read let’s you enjoy the hell out of every trigger warning laced second while giving you a depth to the reasoning behind all that gloriously bloody revenge that makes you pause and think. It’s the consequences of actions as well as the lack of them, it’s heartbreak and loneliness that cuts deeper than any knife, it’s that cliché and thoughtless just follow the leader mentality, and it’s how far you’ll go when you’ve lost everything else including your self-worth, and clowns and pizza and finding a few friends in the least likely of places that see you, love you, and have zero problems gutting, slicing, and dicing anyone who hurts you and devouring the evidence and it is straight freaking fire! A must read that leaves you absolutely ravenous for the next collab between these two insanely talented authors, or possibly just trying to keep down your dinner, but either way it does not get better than the punch this read packs.

Ohhh, this was GOOD. 80’s neon infused, creepy clown mall pizza parlor, occultism and a thirst for revenge….and flesh. 80’s aesthetics and erotic horror mixed with a teen dream into a teen nightmare scream, The Nightshift has all the components of a stomach churning but oh so pleasing, nightmare fueled book that never lets up on the gas.

Crissa is an employee at Big Top Pizza in 1986. Hates her job, the ridiculous uniform she has to wear and the fake smile she paints onto her face everyday. Things have changed from a year ago, her friend circle left her in the cold and the red headed Queen Evil Bee, Sybil has taken her spot…and her crush.

When pranks against Crissa start and get progressively more destructive, an intervention is needed from a book that writes itself to unleash literal Hell and seek out revenge….

But everything comes at a price and Crissa doesn’t have much to lose….except maybe her soul.

An intensely fun, gory, gut churning read that I highly recommend, but check your trigger warnings before you settle down for a Big Top pizza slice….extra toppings not included…

~ “Friends don’t let friends starve.” ~

I completely DEVOURED The Nightshift by Ab. Cynthe & Aimee-Jo Hunter! This book was a 5 star read for me right from the start, then quickly turned into a 6 star read. It is so well written. Both of these authors did such a great job with this story. They had me swooning over a killer demon. And I’m not even mad about it! I love Zeth, and I need MORE Zeth. He is a whole vibe. A specific thing that I really liked about this book is that it was actually very gory. Sometimes horror books will be advertised as gory, and they end up not being very gory. This book though, WAS gory, and the gore was very descriptive. Being a horror whore, I appreciate descriptive gore. The more gore the better. I also really liked the plot of this story, it shows just how terrible people can be, and that sometimes rats are better friends than humans.

I definitely recommend The Nightshift by Ab. Cynthe & Aimee-Jo Hunter to any horror fans, especially those who like gory books. This will 1000% be one that I rave about! If you’re even considering reading this, then you need to!

This book was definitely a wild ride. The story itself was really interesting and honestly pretty unhinged in the best dark-demon kind of way. I wasn’t always excited to pick it up though, mainly because the chapters were super long and I found myself losing focus at times.
One thing I really loved was how the demon actually talked you through parts of the book and gave little breaks throughout the story — it made the reading experience feel really unique and eerie.
I also found the main character Crissa really relatable. She was lost, depressed, and had no real friends, which made her journey feel very raw and real. Watching her finally stand up for herself and get revenge on her ex-best friends was honestly one of my favorite parts of the book.
There was also light spice sprinkled in the story, which added another layer to the dark and chaotic vibe.
I still wanted to keep reading to see what would happen — and the ending was really good. If you enjoy dark, chaotic, demon-driven stories with a strong revenge element, you might really enjoy this one!

I was very damn excited about this book the second it was announced, to me, possession is one of my fav tropes when it comes to horror books, and Zeth, Zeth is my favorite character made by Cyn, I dare to say.

I had no expectations while reading this book, and the way I ate it up in one sitting, it’s not even funny.

I felt for Crissa, and the struggle to find real friendship even if she’s surrounded by people. It’s hard to put up a smile even when life is falling apart.

My dear Zeth, my demon, I loved you the second I read about you, and I was so happy everytime you were out to play, the sweetest demon ever, and the rats, such beautiful creatures yet everyone looks at them like they’re a vermin.

This is not a romance book, straight up horror, cannibalism and very graphic scenes. So please if you need to take a moment and then continue, do it.

This book is not for the faint of heart, and let me tell you, you’ll ended up hating or craving pizza after it.

For me? Well, I treated myself with a big pepperoni pizza after it.

The Nightshift was such a fun read! This book follows a loner who seeks revenge on those who wronged her. What follows is a night of vengeance and gore.

I grew up loving 80’s horror and The Nightshift gave off that exact same vibe. Think back to the times of birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese and no cell phones or social media. The 80’s horror movie Night of the Demons came to mind while reading this as both the movie and The Nightshift has some dark humor to it.

Zeth easily became my favorite character. I enjoyed his little warnings before certain chapters, I thought that was unique and it makes you feel like you’re part of the story.

There were a few very short “spicy” scenes but this book is definitely more plot/story based. I was entertained the whole time reading this and couldn’t wait so see everyone’s fate. It was hard to put down and I finished it no time.

If you love 80’s horror, demons, revenge, and gore, then The Nightshift is the perfect read for you.

Thank you to the authors of The Nightshift and BookFunnel or providing me with an eARC 🖤

This was the most satisfying splatter punk I've ever read. It was a "perfect storm" for revenge, consequences, and female rage. This is NOT a dark romance. It has some spice scenes but nothing romantic takes place.

Our main character is getting bullied by a group of former friends. Her replacement in the group is so full of hatred for her that our main character is thinking about unliving herself. That is, until she remembers the book she found earlier in an old book shop. After studying it, she realizes what it is and she plans to use it to summon a demon for help.

The demon and our main character team up and act out their revenge. EVERYONE is on the table for all the things that go wrong, and the end was super sweet... as sweet as you could imagine for these kinds of books.

It does have several triggers and warnings. This is dark writing at its peak so please check those before grabbing this one.

I received this book as an E-ARC in exchange for an honest review. A special thanks to the authors for trusting me with their work before release.

This book was seriously everything that I could have wanted and more!

I am a big horror fan. I love going to Halloween Horror Nights and I love watching horror movies. I haven't read very many horror books, and this was such a perfect book to start with.

I received this book as an ARC and it is the first book that I've read from these authors.

I don't have very many triggers, but something that I really enjoyed about this book is that everything was laid out very clearly and before a few chapters there was another note regarding some of the things that were going to happen in that chapter. I do recommend if you have triggers to read them for this book because this is not a fluffy romance. This is horror!

I finished this book in less than 24 hours and I was shouting from the rooftops to everyone that I met that they need to read this book. It is short but it is packed to the brim with everything that you could want in a horror novella.

if you like it, anything with possession, five Nights at Freddy's then this would be great for you!

The Nightshift 🤡🍕
By ab cynthe & aimee-jo Hunter 💚
I’ll start by saying the tropes in The Nightshift felt like they were tailored specifically for me . I knew I was going to enjoy this , but honestly ? I DEVOURED it.
This story gave me that same creepy , exciting feeling I got from Goosebumps as a kid , it’s essentially Goosebumps for adults . With its 80s setting and eerie ambiance , it’s a fantastic tribute to classic horror . The writing is so cinematic that the scenes played out like a movie in my head .
I won’t go into details because I refuse to spoil a single thing , but I will say this , multiple times throughout the story , the hair on my scalp literally stood up . This is a thousand-star read for me . If you love classic horror , you will LOVE this .
Huge thanks to ab cynthe & aimee-jo hunter for having me on the ARC team! I’m so grateful I got to read this early. 💚

Clowns, pizza, and REVENGE

I absolutely LOVED this story!! It was just so satisfying and left me wanting more. So the first few chapters are SUPER long but I felt getting the backstory of how we got to where we currently are in the story really made it that much more impactful. Just reading how Crissa’s story started and how things changed left me rooting for her the whole time, I just kept saying “I can’t wait til she pops off” and when she did, it was so satisfying and well deserved 😈😈. Zeth had me absolutely screaming and kicking my feet (HOW YALL GONNA MAKE THE PERFECT BOOK BOYFRIEND THAT ISNT BOOK BOYFRIEND?! 😭😭) he was literally the best and the things he did for Crissa had me awwing and swooning the whole time. Ab and Aimee absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one and I didn’t want it to end!!

I loved Crissa and Zeth and was on the edge of my seat just waiting for them to pick off everyone who’s wronged her one by one. It’s 1986 and Crissa just wants to be left alone. She’s been outcasted by her friends, yet they keep returning to thoroughly torment her and watch her suffer. So when Crissa stumbles upon a ritual of retribution… she performs it. Now paired with the demonic entity, Zeth, it’s time for Crissa to take her revenge.

“Let me take your pain and turn it into something absolutely delicious.”

A slash-em-up romp through a clown-themed pizza shop, The Nightshift tells a story of a girl who’s just had ENOUGH.

✅TW’s
I’ve recently got into horror erotica and this book is perfect. It had everything I love in horror. AB and Aimee did an amazing job with this book. I devoured it. I loved how dark and twisted it got. It had all my favorite things from the horror genre. I will never get sick of pizzerias in the 80’s. Make sure to look at trigger warnings, this book is dark. I loved reading the revenge plot. Crissa and Zeth were everything to me. I also love the little rat friends.
Don’t mind me as I go find more books like this.

I devoured this book, while eating snacks I might add, and found myself lost in a phenomenal read that was written so well, the humor, the pain, the betrayal and the satisfying revenge was on point. This is not a dark romance, it is horror, it is graphic and you might need to scan the very long trigger list. If you are like me and consider it to be a shopping list, well then you will have a cart overflowing at checkout. I will definitely be adding this to my bookshelf, maybe I will get lucky and find a SE copy in the future too.

I really loved the first chapter, it hooked me from the first page and really gave depth and insight into each of the characters and all their relationships.

You really get to feel for Crissa and her emotions, she made the perfect FMC. Dealing with a loss of something that is still there and having to deal with it daily, while still keeping her goals and pushing through it all. And her little rat friends became some of my favorites throughout the book.

Zeth’s commentary and chapter warnings were so good! I loved how much he did for Crissa and wanted to make sure she was vindicated and treated properly. The ending made me laugh because what in the Frankenstein 😂

This was incredible. Horror mixed with revenge and a wild ride, this captured my attention. Crissa gets her revenge with the help of Zeth and oh my they don't hold back. After everyone that Crissa is "friends" with from a former friend group bullies and leaves her, she at first is upset but summons and makes a deal with Zeth. The chaos these two ensure is perfect and makes those think twice about what they did. That ending though, that was utter perfection and I loved it. Thank you so much AB. What a wild ride! Five Nights at Freddy’s meets Venom.
This was unlike most of my suspense/ horror books in the way we had almost a narrator and the main characters in a book. We got many different POVs and it sucked me in! I won’t give spoilers, but the ending is brutal.

Be sure to check your triggers, there are some highly graphic parts in this book.

My first thought when I got was this give me FNAF but make it adults only. And babyyy, it was delivered fresh like a pizza hot out of the oven.

•Possession 😈
•Erotic horror 🌶️
•Revenge 🔪
•Cannibalism? 🍽️
•Gore, gore, and more gore 🩸

The reader caution warning was so long it could have been a chapter. Strap up and get ready for ride. It’s worth it.

This is definitely more gore than horror, and more horror than erotica BUT for those who enjoy those gory, disgusting, style of books- this is for you.

I rated four stars because at times the writing felt choppy, some of the information didn’t line up, and it needs a thorough edit. However, the book was still unique, gross, and I don’t want to eat pizza anytime soon.
