Ada and Cece's High School Revenge!

Rate this book
From bestselling authors Eve Dangerfield and Courtney Clark Michaels comes a fresh and gloriously unhinged romance about bad boys, best friends, spicy encounters, and sticking it to the people who sucked in high school.

Two childhood best friends. Three dangerously hot men. One class reunion from hell.

Cece Taylor and Ada Renaldo swore they’d never go back to their hometown, but when the high school celebration of the century rolls around, the girls decide the only way to return is with a revenge plan.

Cece’s going to dazzle everyone with her (not quite) successful bar, win the heart of her childhood crush, and finally step out of her big brother’s shadow.

Former professional flautist and current menace to society, Ada plans to get wasted and burn the place down. Emotionally. Socially. Maybe literally. It depends where the cameras are these days.

The problem is the men standing in their way. Cece’s brooding bouncer, Davis, is done admiring her from afar and has zero patience for her high school crush. Meanwhile, Ada can’t stir a speck of trouble without the town's golden boy, Jake Graves-Holland, making a move on her. And Lord does the man have moves...

As the reunion approaches, old scandals, bad memories, and terrible decisions start to spiral. Soon, only one thing is clear: nothing from high school stays buried. Not obsessions, not grudges, and especially not secrets.

Messy, sexy, and laugh-out-loud hilarious, Ada & Cece’s High School Revenge is for anyone who’s dreamed of strutting back into high school hotter and wiser. Or to torch the place to the ground.

Eve Dangerfield has loved romance novels ever since she first swiped her grandmother’s paperbacks. Now she writes her own stories about complicated women and gorgeous-but-slightly-tortured men. Cece Taylor is getting by. Barely. Burnt out from a nursing job that was emotionally draining, she took over Stabbies for a change of pace. But that’s another whole ass mess. When former schoolmates drop into her bar and she learns her longtime crush, Will Sharpe, is newly divorced, she sees it as a sign.

Ada Renaldo is chaos incarnate, but there’s nothing she won’t do for her bestie, including returning to Pukekohe High School for a reunion. Especially when it creates the perfect opportunity to exact revenge on those who made her teenage years a living hell.

I don’t even know how to describe this book!! 🤣 It’s hilarious. It’s spicy. It’s unique in its two-couple format. It’s chaos. It’s sassy. It’s emotional. It’s a must-read.

Oh yeah, people. This is it. The most hectic, spicy thing I've put my name to. The big one, you might say and not just because it's a gloriously long and perfectly unhinged homage to lust, revenge and sticking it to everyone who sucked at your high school 🪩✨

Panic, pre-order, get all of the hyped because fuck knows I am!
(Also, I am currently reading A&CHSR. For edits. Which counts.)

Before I start, I just want to say if you’ve dealt with bullying at all this can be a tough read at times. For me it was, but it was also so cathartic, because Ada and Cece were so brave in making sure the bullies got their comeuppance.

As Eve’s #1 fan (a title I just made up) I’ll read absolutely anything she writes, so I was so excited to get this arc! Courtney is a new to me author but I’ll definitely be checking out her books after this.

Ada and Cece are drifting. One is drinking and vaping too much after escaping an abusive relationship and quitting making music as a result of it, and one is running a struggling bar and putting herself last. Jake comes into the bar one night with a bachelor party, and sees Ada, who he’s loved since high school. It’s game over for them after that, though the road to happiness takes some time and healing. Davis is the bar bouncer who’s been head over heels for Cece since he first saw her, but she thinks he’s too young for her.

Ada was horrifically bullied in high school, and it left a lasting mark on her. Her using humor as a coping mechanism was so relatable and I thought her neurodivergence was written really well. Cece decides she wants to go to their high school reunion to see the guy she’s liked since high school, and of course Ada won’t let her go alone. What follows is an always hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, and often sexy adventure in finding yourself and who you’re meant to be with along the way.

I loved this book! I couldn’t get enough and didn’t want it to be over but I also had to know how things turned out. The happily ever afters were hard fought and so deserved, and I’d read about ten more books about these couples.

Thank you so much to Eve and Courtney for the arc!

This story consumed me! It was a rom com, it was romantic suspense, it was an angst-ridden, longing from afar, it was a down and dirty, heated, wild-fest. It was two women who had been though lots, and were still going through it. It was finding love, or thinking you found love, only to be tripped up by your insecurities. It was finding your power, and wielding it like you never did before. It was failing, and wanting to wallow in it. It was finding out what really mattered, grabbing your inner steel core, and slaying your demons, internal and external, and having a happy life you didn’t think you’d ever have, but that you so richly deserve <3

Wow! This book was wild. Dark, funny, sexy (v. v. sexy), suspenseful. It has a pretty heavy and complex plot (complimentary) and still manages to be insanely romantic.

I think one of the most interesting things about this book is that Ada and Cece's friendship and how they have to tackle their shared history and old resentments is as central to the story as the romance plots and that relationship has to go through a transformation and a strengthening in order for the girls to have their HEA. I really loved how integral the friendship was to this story.

But we can't forget about the romance! Jake and Ada are so messy and broke my heart at times but I LOVE an MMC who is fully obsessed with the FMC from the start. That actually applies to both MMCs so you get double the feral and it is hot hot hot.

In addition to the beautiful and messy friendships and romantic relationships there is almost a thriller-like plot that runs through this as well. I was holding my breath at times hoping everything out come out ok. Again, there is a ton going on but that is what makes this book so remarkable. Read it now!!!! Thank you to the authors for the arc.

“How ’bout we wrap this up? I wanna date you. You don’t wanna date me. Fine. Let’s go to my place, and I’ll break your fuckin’ back.”

Oh what a fun and sexy little rump this was. For all my millennials that loved Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, imagine that with a whole lot more chaos, kinky sex, and a revenge plot gone amuck. And even if you haven't seen that move (change that immediately) but you love a bit of chaos with your romance, you will have so much fun with this one.
Fine, you don’t need to come this time—”
“This time?”
“—but I’ll be thinking ’bout you non-stop, and I’ll text you whenever I can.”
“Please don’t.”
“Goes without saying, I won’t be with anyone else while I’m away.”
“I… don’t care…?”
Jake looked me dead in the eyes. “You gonna be with someone else while I’m away?”
“I legitimately fail to see how that’s your business.”
He made a considering face. “Okay, I’ll put it like this: I find out there’s been someone else, they’re dead, and you’re handcuffed to my bed for a month.”
“That’s a literal threat!”
Jake didn’t even blink. “You love it.”

First, we get not one but two romance story lines. Ada and Cece are two best friends who are as opposite as they are the same. Ada is a music prodigy who made a name for herself with a flute career. Now back in her hometown, she's plotting all the ways she will have revenge on the high school bullies who made her life hell.

Cece is the owner of a bar whose infamous history got it the nickname of Stabbys. And yes, it's precisely why you think it is. But I digress. Cece is determined to make a success of the dive bar, but the odds are forever stacked against her. Cece also has a bar bodyguard who happens to be obsessed with her. Unfortunately for him, he's younger than her and she's got her sights set on her old high school crush who she just learned is newly single after a bitter divorce. Ah, unrequited lust. Gots to love it.

Ada is not about relationships of any kind. This woman is chaos personified. Following a disastrous relationship, she's all about scratching an itch and nothing more. Until she meets a man who's determined to have her and change her ways. Jake was like a golden retriever to her black cat but with a kinky side and a dirty mouth that could make you blush with just a few words. God but I loved him.

Sometimes the chaos that were Ada and Cece almost felt like it was too much. But it was also fun and entertaining, so I can't complain too much. The story also felt a bit long at parts, though this may also be my recently lost attention span, so take that with a grain of salt. I seem to have the attention span of a fruit fly lately.

I had so much fun with this story and I loved that we get two romances in one. If you're looking for something super fun, super sexy, and super quirky, definitely give this a read.

Ada and Cece's High School Revenge! by Eve Dangerfield and Courtney Clark Michaels was a fabulous ride. When I heard of this book coming out I knew I wanted to read it right away. I was not disappointed.

As the title suggests, the book revolves around Ada and Cece's reunion. But it goes into so much more. While the book spends much of the time gearing up for the reunion, we also get to watch 2 couples come together and the mending of cracks in friendship.

Ada and Cece met when Ada moved and enrolled in the school that Cece went to. They became friends, but like many high school friendships, theirs was rocky until they graduated. Once that happened, they became the best of friends and have been ever since.

Ada returns to New Zealand after being in Europe for years and is living with Cece and helping at Cece's bar. When a group of guys come into Cece's bar, they turn out to be guys from their high school. One in particular, Jake, catches Ada's eye and they hook up. And they continue to hook up without talking too much.

Swirling in the background is Cece and Davis. Cece has her heart set on going to the reunion and meeting up with a past crush. But her and Davis have been circling each other for a year.

While planning her revenge, Ada learns some bad things about some of those guys they went to high school with. Yes, they were bullies then, but now they seem to be worse. Which leads us to the final element of this book, the mystery.

I could continue on and on about all of the elements of this book and how beautifully meld together. I finished it a few days ago and I am still thinking about it.

Ada is the biggest chaos gremlin. But I really like how even though she is a chaos gremlin, she is aware of it and aware that the decisions she is making aren’t the best but still does them. Cece is doing her best to steer Ada away from the worst decisions, but Ada could use some help stopping them.

Davis quickly became my favorite character really fast. There are so many layers to him.

I can feel how Ada feels like a weight has been lifted when she makes the decision to address her metal state. And then, wham, Jake. I understand her feelings of “why even bother”.

The insult game is top notch.

its release day!!!!! 3/9/26 ❤️ Available on KU

A 4-star read with 5-star enjoyment... so, 4.5 stars!

If you know me at all, you know that I love this author. As a human, and I love her work. She has wrote a couple of my favorite stories, but ALL of them have made me smile and laugh and enjoy myself. Her sense of humor is just like mine. It's like she GETS me. And don't get me started on the spice - let's just say we have a lot in common in that avenue as well.

Ada and Cece have a great friendship. Cece used to be a pediatrics nurse, but she left to run the bar her godfather left her in his will. As for Ada, she's a world-renowned flute player that fled to Cece's home in Auckland after the demise of her toxic relationsip. Ada and Cece go way back, but it's not all good history. They went to high school together but they weren't super close, mostly because Cece wanted to fit in and Ada was a social pariah. This is important- Ada was pretty violently bullied in high school, and it's talked about a lot. If this might be a trigger for you, this might not be the book for you.

As far as the love interests, I really love Davis, Cece's man. Cece was a bit more difficult for me to like, though. I wish I could be more understanding, like Ada was - it's a great quality to have, to forgive people for all their warts because you understand you have them too. I had the same struggles with Jake that I had with Cece: their people-pleasing was hard to forgive, which is surprising considering I am a SEVERE people-pleaser.

Ada made this entire book, though. She is nuanced and intelligent and makes a ton of mistakes. She's loyal and selfless and she self-sabotages like nobody's business. Another MVP is Aggie - she's the mother those girls should have had. I just want to hug Davis.

The bullying is handled well, but it's not glossed over. It's there and you can't ignore it, which I appreciate, because a lot of my complaints relate to the people that WERE trying to ignore it. It's easy for someone who didn't experience it to say "it's not a big deal" or "you just need to get over it." Both Cece and Jake wanted it to be ignored because they both knew they didn't handle it well. And logically I know Ada is right; nobody makes the best decisions in high school. But you don't get to act like my savior NOW if you weren't there when I actually needed you.

Anyway, I digress; that's not the point. The point is that I thoroughly enjoyed myself and most of the characters, as per usual.

If you’ve ever fantasized about strutting back into your high school reunion hotter, wiser, and armed with a plan to emotionally napalm the place, this book is your ticket. Eve Dangerfield and Courtney Clark Michaels deliver a gloriously chaotic romance that’s equal parts spicy, hilarious, and cathartic.

Cece and Ada are the kind of best friends you want in your corner...one determined to prove herself, the other gleefully plotting social arson. Throw in two dangerously attractive men, a reunion from hell, and the kind of banter that makes you snort-laugh in public, and you’ve got a story that feels like CW Owens turned up to eleven. It reminded me of her books in the best way possible.

We have two romance storyline, one for Ada and one for Cece. And while i loved both of them, my favorite part of this book is relationship between these two friends...and the journey these two go on as they heal from everything that happened in high school.

The romance is messy in the best way, the friendships are ride-or-die, and the revenge is deliciously satisfying. I’ve read Eve’s books before, but this one might just be my favorite. It’s sharp, sexy, and surprisingly heartfelt...Haven't read Courtney's books before but I have to check her out now.

We all have different experiences in HS, of yours are not as traumatizing as Ada's you will enjoy this book for sheer revenge plot lines and that soulmate yearning romance. But if your experience is as heavy as hers you will be able to experience this book on more of emotional level. Either way I recommend it.

4.25 stars. This is a really good book. The best book I have read in a while for sure. Ada and Cece's High School Revenge is a standalone book written by Eve Dangerfield and Courtney Clark Michaels. This book is Ada and Cece's story. Ada and Cece were friends in high school who grew even closer afterwards. Over the years, they both have gone through a lot and are now living together, helping run the bar Cece inherited. Now they have the chance to return to their high school reunion and face down old nemeses, bullies and crushes, as well as get some good old fashioned revenge.

I really enjoyed both heroines' characters and that they both got their own distinct romances. i enjoyed seeing both of them growing through tough times and into who they were meant to be. Ada was a hot mess in the beginning but I grew to love her, as well as Cece. They both got a hot romance with a guy who adored them. The overall story was so good and unique. It showed life's ups and downs and how the characters found themselves and made the best of it. There was really good writing, quirky, fun characters, great female friendship, small town high school drama, as well tough subjects like bullying, addiction and self-harm. Seeing Ada and Cece find happiness was awesome. Definitely one of the best books I have read by Ms. Dangerfield. I am also glad to find a new author in Ms. Clark Michaels. I hope these two write together again, but either way, I look forward to what they come up with next.

⭐️ 4.25 stars

This book completely surprised me in the best way. The most impressive part of this book is how seamlessly the two authors’ voices blend together. If I hadn’t known it was co-written, I never would have guessed.

And yes, it’s long, but I genuinely could not put it down. It felt like getting two love stories for the price of one. I kept telling myself “just one more chapter,” and suddenly it was way past bedtime.

The friendship between Ada and Cece is truly the soul of the book. Their loyalty, growth, and unwavering support for each other elevate the story beyond just romance. I especially appreciated the thoughtful and affirming representation of autism. The book doesn’t treat it as something to “fix” but instead highlights the unique strengths and insights that come with it. It felt authentic and empowering without being preachy.

If I had one small wish, it would be that the spice leaned a little more open door. The romantic tension is there, and the chemistry is undeniable. I just would’ve loved slightly more on-page payoff. Still, the emotional intimacy absolutely delivers.

And let’s talk about Jake. I think we all deserve our own Jake- the perfect balance of confident and completely devoted. Protective without being overbearing, charming without trying too hard.

And the REVENGE! It was totally worth the wait. Thank you to the authors for the advanced reader copy.

Oh, wow! I never forgot how good Eve Dangerfield writes them, but this was more than a surprise!

Not only do the authors give us 2 love stories (almost 3 if you count Anggie and Des :) but the book gets so complex, with layers of characters and issues. Though the issues are heavy and the characters get to be quite a few, there is no overwhelm, just a story you can't stop reading.

I absolutely adored Ada, it's been so long since I read a character so wonderful: funny, supportive, complicated and so charming. I liked Cece with her shy ways and conquered courage. And Jake and Davis. The hot scenes, the fight for bringing justice to the farm workers, the power to stand up against their bullies, wonderful characters all of them.

So many wins with this book, I feel I will look back at this and find it one of the best reads of this year.

Thanks to Eve Dangerfield and Courtney Clark Michaels for the review copy and this is my honest review.

I can't believe the authors made me read about a heroine who vapes. I felt it against my very soul but the joy I felt reading this book also healed me, how dare.

This book was A LOT because it dealt with being bullied in high school but dialed up to the max so I had to pace myself in order to not get overwhelmed. It is however, entertaining, hilarious and very hot.

The friendship of the two main heroines are the highlight and main focus of the book, the sexy rugby player and broody security guard are just the sideshow (super saucy sideshow). It's a very satisfying revenge story trying to undo the wrongs done to them but also acknowledging the hurt they wrought.

Ugh. So good! Couldn't put down, not even when my eyes are all red. Best read while eating wagyu and drinking Sangria.

The characters are very human - messy, hilarious, and imperfect. But you can't help but root for all of them despite their questionable life choices. The friendship between Ada and Cece also takes the cake. They are each other's ride-or-die, and it hurts how protective they are of each other.

If complicated characterization doesn't make you immediately jump, maybe the idiotic, delicious MCs will draw you in. BOTH DAVIS AND JAKE, I SWEAR. I want to go to New Zealand to see what all the fuss is about.

4.5* rounded up.

I love Eve Dangerfield, I would pay to read her grocery list. This is the first time reading Courtney Clark Michaels, and I was worried her writing wouldn't hook me compared to Eve's, but she didn't disappoint. There were a lot of heavy themes here, but we get plenty of humor to go along with all of the angst. The affects of bullying, and it's aftermath, are portrayed realistically, and it's heartbreaking. It's definitely the deepest book I've read from Eve, and I think she and Courtney knocked it out of the park. Well done ladies!

I had so much fun with this book. It was intelligent and full of action and humor. I enjoyed the first half of the book very much. I didn't give 5 stars because I just don't like the fairy tail parts in it. Everyone giving advices, then they become a big family and bla bla. I noticed that E.D likes to add something like that in her books. It was to Disneyland for me in those parts. Still I had a great time and I loved it!

I read this all in one night. Bloody devoured it. It had me cackling, kicking my feet in giddiness, swallowing down some sadness and heart racing from tension. I never thought a book about high school revenge by people in their 30’s would be so damn fun, campy and enjoyable! Shoulda trusted that anything Eve Dangerfield puts out will deliver 👏🏼

Run, don't walk to purchase this book. It's unhinged, hilarious, steamy, romantic, and features TWO MMCs who are down so bad they may never get back up. You get two romances for the price of one here: Ada, a former outcast turned famous flautist and golden boy rugby all-star Jake. Then you've got Cece, struggling bar owner and burned out nurse, with Davis, finance bro moonlighting as her bouncer just to be near her.

The banter is top tier, but I also genuinely cried at the 50% mark (IYKYK). These couples have to WORK for it, and it's all set amidst a high school reunion with the town's big bads.

You get heat, small down drama, an amazing friendship between the FMCs, idiots to lovers, and everything in between. CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH!

If "Who's afraid of little old me" was a book it would be this one and Ada Renaldo represents it perfectly. A musical prodigy, being bullied and terrorised in high school comes back years later for a renuion with her bff and revenge on her mind. Everyone who tormented her will get what's coming to them one way or another even if she needs to raise the whole town to the ground. Now, if she bags herself a hometown rugby legend who've had a crush on her forever, all the better.
Ada's best friend Cece, on the other hand, has only one goal in mind for the reunion - finally get together with her own high school crush and make her picket fence dreams come true. Show everyone who doubted her that she can run a successful bar like a boss bitch would be a cherry on top. Her hot younger bouncer/finance wiz would have something to say about part one of her plan, though.
I had so much fun with Ada's antics and the cast of characters around her and Cece was wonderful. Aggie is the MVP, honestly. It had some pretty heavy moments too and some heartbreak. You should know that a suicide (in the past) was part of the story if that's a trigger for you. Nothing graphic though. Mostly it's just a fun ride with a splash of spice and people getting what they deserve. The third act kind of lost its steam, though, I would prefer more action getting all the ducks in a row for the revenge plot. This is the only reason I didn't give this five stars.

I got an ARC from lovely Eve Dangerfield in exchange for my honest review. All thouts and opinions are my own.
