Molly, a West Highland terrier, is supposed to be the flower girl for her owner's wedding. The dirty dog hates being groomed, so Alfie is the back-up flower kid. Alfie wants out of the wedding, and his sister, Alfreeda, wants in. But none of that matters when Molly loses the wedding rings in the doggie play yard! Which kid will save the day and find the missing rings?

A great book with beautiful little drawings!

I appreciate the facts and truths about Westie in this book for kids! I have had three Westie and this book is right on about the information on responsible pet ownership. I love an author from St. Paul, one of my favorite places to visit! Cute book!

Summary:
Alfie hates getting groomed, but there’s someone who hates it even more: Molly the West Highland terrier. Her owners want her to be the flower girl, but they have to get her groomed first. If that doesn’t work, Alfie’s mom volunteered Alfie to be the flower kid. But Alfie doesn’t want to. The day before the wedding, Molly loses the rings, and everyone starts searching for them. Will they find the rings? Will Molly let Alfie’s mom groom her?

Discussion Questions:
1. Design a hotel for your favorite animal. Include a schedule for a typical day at your hotel.
2. Write a short summary of the story from Molly’s perspective.
3. If you were a dog, what would you want the Hound Hotel to have for you? Why?
4. Choose a character from the story and draw a portrait of them with describing words around it.
5. Alfie’s mom volunteered him to be the flower kid without asking if he wanted to do it. Have you ever been forced to do something you did not agree to?
