All Isla ever wanted was to marry the Captain of the Royal Guard, help the town healer, and see her papa healthy again. When betrayal strikes, shaking the foundation Isla stands on, she has to determine what’s fact or fiction.
Isla was supposed to be the Captain's beloved. Now she's his enemy's prisoner.
Rhylen never asked to be the leader of the rebellion, but when the tyrannical rule takes root in the kingdom he loves, he’s determined to help put a stop to it. Hitting the royal coffers and terrorizing the Crown Prince, Rhylen stirs trouble throughout the kingdom.
Taken by the man she should hate, Isla is forced to confront a world she’s been sheltered from. Every step she takes beside him, blurs the line between enemy and ally, between loyalty and treason.
When the masks come off, Isla must decide who she'll fight for... and who she'll burn for.
AMAZING. I was so obsessed with this book, and I'm still thinking about it days later. The plot hooked me from the start, and I could not put it down! There were twists galore, to the point I felt the need to message the author about it! IYKYK... The characters were great, although I did despair with the FMC and her naivety! But that just showed the standard of the author's writing. I wasn't familiar with Robin Hood's story, so I took this book on it's own merit. What a read. Bring on book 2!
This was an arc read for me: This book was amazing the world building in it drew me in immediately! There’s a lush, atmospheric vibe full of magic, danger, and secrets. I also loved the slow-burn enemies-to-lover’s dynamic. The tension between the two main characters builds so gradually and realistically you can practically feel the sparks before they notice the sparks, I felt like I was in the book! And that ending!! I need more already 😍
A mildly dark fantasy filled with all the romantasy tropes and a Robin Hood vibe. Its a quick and easy read. Can't say I cared for the FMC at all. Her depth was about as equivalent to a puddle, but she's trying.
I sincerely LOVED this book. The deception, betrayal, the enemies to lovers, the angst and tension in this mid evil/renaissance-esque world. I devoured it all up! AND THAT ENDING 🫣 I NEED book two. This is absolutely going to be a book that lives rent free in my head. It was such a good time and exactly what I needed as I was in a bit of a reading rut. It was genuinely so addicting that I just could not put it down!
That ENDING!! Hannah did us dirty lol I need book 2 now! This was a solid 4.5 star read. The banter and enemies to lovers was done very well. No spice except for some kissing and the suggestions of some violence but this was very well written. I was right there with the best friend wanting to smack our FMC for being so blind. I love how the MMC felt the pull and wasn't afraid of it. It is a very good story and I need book 2 like yesterday!!! Run and go read this you will not be disappointed.....except that we have to wait for book 2. 🫣😉

Thank you to the author for an e-arc of this book!
We have a fun Robinhood inspired retelling for this book and it had me gripped all the way through.
Isla is just a simple farm girl. She spends her days tending the garden, selling her goods at the market to help her sick papa, and stealing away moments with Oliver, the Captain of the Guard. Oliver comes from a high born and cruel family, but Isla insists he’s nothing like them, no matter who tells her differently. But as the Crown Prince keeps raising taxes and punishing those who can’t pay, she starts to see her kingdom in a brand new light. When she’s sold off to be apart of the flesh trade for her “crimes”, she hopes Oliver will come save her. Instead, it’s a mysterious hooded man and his gang of friends that do. Rhylen is the unofficial “leader” of the rebellion but his goal is to just steal from the rich to give to the poor, but he’s thrust into leadership regardless. His goal is to show Isla that she’s been lied to her whole life about Oliver and the crown prince, but comes to not only care for Isla, but also find that she’s a lot more important to him and the kingdom than either of them even realize.
We have a great found family foundation happening in here and I love it! 🥰
There is no spice 🌶️ in this book, which was disappointing but I’m hoping future books lead into it. The writing itself feels like it’ll make its way that direction. There are TW topics such as attempted SA, gore, death, etc. so this is for sure a NA book, so I’m hoping as the story goes, we get to the good stuff 😜
This ends on a cliffhanger and it was something I was predicting but there were a couple moments in the story I thought I had predicted, and it looked to be going that way, then there was a twist to it I didn’t expect! So it kept me on my toes!
A Robin Hood retelling with a romantasy twist. It was chock-full of hidden magic, political intrigue, prophecies, and delightful tropes!
The dedication alone was enough to draw me in: “To all the girlies who loved the fox-- same.”
The FMC, Isla, starts out very naive and sheltered. She’s allowed her lover to lull her into a place of complete trust and complacency with sweet words when really he’s very much a wolf in sheep’s clothing. You WILL be frustrated with her, you will want to shake her and say “wake up and listen to the people warning you about him!” but stick it out because she goes through some amazing growth as her eyes are opened more to the reality of their kingdom’s dire situation.
The MMC, Rhylen, also known as The Hood, is our Robin Hood character. Him and his band of men are pretty much the only line of defense between the cruel nobility with their ever rising taxes and the starving impoverished people of the kingdom.
There are a lot of fun tropes in this book: •forced proximity •only one bed/only one horse (though no spice but I do hope we’ll get there in book 2) •who did this to you? •cliffhanger ending
The side characters in this story are great. I like how Isla also developed friendships as well as her relationship with Rhylen. It had that found family feel.
The pacing of the book is pretty quick, a lot happens in a fairly short amount of time. For being on the shorter side (I believe under 300 pages) the author didn’t skimp on plot at all which I appreciated but again, it did move fast. Because of the quicker pacing, the build up between Isla and Rhylen felt more slow to medium vs slow burn, but still had good tension and banter between them.
Overall this was a 3.5 star read for me. I enjoyed the story and felt invested pretty much the entire time. It wasn’t anything ground breaking, it very much fit the standard romantasy mold, but it was a really fun time and I’m looking forward to book 2. I do think the writing could use some cleaning up (grammar, repetitive terms and descriptors, etc.). I will be honest though, it’s easy for me to overlook that and still really enjoy the story and characters but I do suspect it’s noticeable enough that it would bother pickier readers so I think it’s worth mentioning.
I really appreciate being given the opportunity to read this ARC, thank you so much!
Thank you to the author for providing me with this ARC. All thoughts in the review are my own.
I love the premise of a Robin Hood retelling but was a little disappointed with the execution here. It was marketed as a slow burn, enemies to lovers which I think was a disservice. The romance read more "love at first sight" than enemies to lovers, especially from the MMC POV. He had been spying on her and was in love with her before they even met so enemies to lovers definitely felt like a stretch.
I also found there to be too many characters and too little development of the characters to help differentiate between them. I would have preferred fewer characters with the effort being put into making each unique and developed. There were moments when a character would come in and drop important info and I found myself thinking "wait, who it that again? have I met them already?"
There were moments of witty banter and dialogue between the two main characters but it did feel like the author couldn't decide what kind of personality she wanted her main characters to have. The MMC went from being a charismatic rake to being described as grumpy and brooding by his best friends. The FMC read as very naive and blushing but had no problem yelling out vulgar insults which felt very out of character.
The ending had me mildly intrigued to see where the series goes but not enough to want to pick up the next book.
Thieves of Fate had a lot of elements that had me immediately interested to read. It’s a Robin Hood inspired romantasy with hidden magic, rebellion, and a broody outlaw MMC. The world building and overall premise were intriguing, especially the lore and setup of the story.
However, the execution didn’t fully work for me. The pacing moves very quickly through major events, which kept things interesting but didn’t leave enough room for character development or emotional moments to fully land. I struggled to connect with the FMC at all. She really was driving me nuts most of the book and found myself wishing our main character was her best friend. Now the MMC was definitely the standout for me so he made up for the FMC.
Overall, this was a fast, trope-filled read that will appeal to readers who enjoy lighter romantasy with familiar elements, but I was left wanting more depth.
I grew up on Robin Hood- we faithfully watched the Kevin Costner and Disney versions on repeat- and this did not disappoint.
Isla is living in a medieval world where taxes are rising, but means of life are waning. With an ill Papa, she is able to grow medicinal plants and sell them to the town healer, but that’s her only income. She’s in love with the second-born son of the Duke and believes he will save her from struggling through life. The rest of the kingdom is being attacked by a man known as Hood. They say he’s burning towns and the Prince is trying to quell his rebellion.
I absolutely enjoyed this Robin Hood retelling and the ending has me so excited for the sequel. This is a great one to pick up this holiday season.
I had this as an ARC read, and let’s just say I read this within a few hours. I ate it up, I love a good twist and that ending was expected but still so gooddd! I can’t wait for the next one.
First, I want to say thank you to the author for the ARC!
THIS. BOOK. I’ve always loved the tale of Robin Hood, and this adaptation is just -chef’s kiss- wonderful! I was so frustrated with the FMC (in a good way). She is an amazing representation of the people who blindly following what they believe in and how they stick to the idea until they just physically can’t deny it anymore.
It is a slow/burn, no spice with some kissing and mentions of feeling lust. Tactful and done well. I’ll be honest, I’m a smut queen but I didn’t even find myself missing it in this because the action and pace made up for it!
The MMC is deliciously snarky and I love him so much. He was believable and not too overdone. A refreshing change from what I’ve read lately.
The ending had me almost throw my e-reader out of the car as I sit in the parking lot waiting for my mother to finish with her appointment. I definitely didn’t pay attention and had no idea I was at the end, I just wanted…no needed, more. Then to just get the acknowledgments?! I’m devastated and need more… immediately!
“My heart begs to get to know her… she’s hypnotising; a secret siren call in the middle of the grove.”
✨ Robin Hood retelling ✨ enemies to lovers (light) ✨ dual POV ✨ hidden magic ✨ forced proximity — one bed, one horse 👀 ✨ prophecies + betrayal ✨ low/no spice ✨ cliffhanger ending
This was a quick, easy read - the kind you can finish in a single sitting because the writing is simple, the pacing moves fast, and the overall vibe feels very accessible. I think readers who enjoy lighter romantasy with familiar tropes will find a lot to love here: the woodsy Robin Hood aesthetic, a broody hero in disguise, a girl caught up in something way bigger than she realises, and a world full of prophecies and hidden magic waiting to unfold.
“The so-called Hood wasn’t the monster of my story, no matter how badly I wanted him to be.”
Isla is incredibly naïve, which may work for readers who love a softer, sheltered heroine, but she wasn’t always the easiest for me to connect with. Rhylen, on the other hand, had some strong moments. He was very much the reluctant protector with secrets of his own, definitely the highlight between the two. Their dynamic leans more towards forced proximity than true enemies to lovers, but there are sparks, and the tropes are fun.
There’s a big cast of side characters and plenty of action, though I would’ve loved a bit more depth to balance out all the moving pieces. The villains are very “jerks with swords and zero chill,” which keeps things simple and straightforward, and the story wraps up on a cliffhanger that tees up the series direction.
“She’s going to show those who betrayed her just how hot her flame can burn.”
Overall, it’s a breezy, trope-filled romantasy that some readers will really click with, especially if they’re in the mood for something fast, familiar, and easy to sink into.
Thank you to the author for giving me this ARC 🫶🏻
Chaos, vibes, and opinions are all my own ✨ please give credit if you share.
I received an ARC of this book and I am so happy to report how good this book was!! It’s a Robin Hood retelling with deception, betrayal, political intrigue, and (my fave) enemies to lovers. The only critique is that I wish it was longer!!! I want more and cannot wait for the next one! Happy reading, everyone!
5 Star Read, but 4 start rating. When it comes to my rating system, when I say 5 star, it means I really enjoyed it and would recommend to others, but that does not necessarily mean that it is 5 starts in all aspects. Please note, this review is not spoiler free.
This story is entertaining, overall well written, and engaging. I’m a sucker for Robin Hood. I like how this story carries the essence of Robin Hood, but it is different and has a magical twist. Rhylen and Isla are good characters and have chemistry. I also enjoyed Oliver and the prince, but had the tendency to almost, but not quite, go into mustache twirling villain at times. But overall enjoy the author’s portrayal of them. The only character I would like to see gone is Phillipa. While the other antagonist were a love to hate type, she was just a hate for me. The villains were villains. I like that there is ore than one as well.
Rhylen was fun. I liked his snark, but he was not necessarily a jerk to Isla. I think he may end up being on of my favorite male characters. I really enjoyed that Isla is not some tough, no nonsense, I can do everything character. She is softer, but strong and brave. I feel the bass-ass mfc is starting to be overdone, so this was refreshing.
The side characters were fun and used appropriately. I usually have a hard time with side characters, but not in this story. I know a lot of people tend to love the side characters more than the main characters, so if you are one of those types, you should enjoy this.
While I would have liked to see this story be a bit longer (it’s under 400 pages, which almost had me not sure about reading as I feel it’s hard to get in good character development, dialogue, and plot in a fantasy story shorter than that) overall, the author did a good job of having a fleshed out story. I would add a few more scenes showing how the bad guys are the bad guys since Isla believes Rhylen to be the villain and a few more scenes between Rhylen and Isla showing them falling for each other.
I do think the dialogue could use some improvement. It was repetitive at times and I don’t think glare was being used correctly at some points. It was also a bit repetitive towards the end. The villains kept coming in to see Isla, but not really doing anything. While I know having bad things happen to a mfc is not always enjoyable but if you have villains that you write as horrible, then they should be horrible, not just walking in saying a few words and leaving over and over. Once or twice of this would be ok, but then switch it up.
This story gave some answers but did a good job of building mystery and keeping you wanting more. I’m definitely excited for book 2!

“Thieves of Fate” delivers a Robin Hood, inspired romantic fantasy with rebellion, hidden magic, and a kingdom on the edge. Our heroine, Isla, is thrown between loyalty, love, and the crumbling truth of the realm, but the real standout for me was Rhylan, the Hooded outlaw leading a small band of misfits in the woods.
He’s layered in all the right ways: broody, principled, quietly protective, and stubborn enough to fight for people even when the world’s hellbent on burning. He watches Isla grow, pushes her to choose courage over comfort, and genuinely cares about his friends and the innocent lives caught in the kingdom’s decay. There’s tension between them, slow, reluctant, frustrating, but the story moves so fast that their relationship doesn’t get the space it deserves to really bloom.
The biggest challenge for me was pacing. The plot rockets through major events without giving characters time to breathe or for emotional arcs to land with weight. There are hints of deep themes, injustice, legacy, identity, but they’re touched on briefly before the story rushes to the next twist.
Still, Rhylan’s character is the highlight, and I’m hoping future books give both him and Isla more room to develop.
A creative premise with compelling elements, but lacking the depth and nuance that would have elevated it. A solid 3⭐ from me.
I received this book as an ARC from the author directly and was fully enthralled in it!!! It is a Robin Hood retelling and quite frankly a breath of fresh air!! I devoured this book! I absolutely loved that it was a Robin Hood story! It had the vibes of Robin Hood meets Rhysand …if you have ever watched Robin Hood with Kevin Costner ….you will love this!! (Which is my favorite Robin Hood movie by the way) First off stahhhp …I LOVED the dedication in this book 🥹🥹🥹🥹 “To all the girlies who loved the fox….same” I felt that in my soul!!! Robin Hood is such an underrated character and I absolutely loved the spin she did on this story with him!! The slow burn, the banter, the “barely there touches”….. And that cliffhanger ending…jaw dropped…do NOT get me started! There is also a particular chapter that I was left absolutely shook, which is really hard to do to me…I just did not see it coming and I may have shed a tear or two!!! 😢 (Chapter 9 for reference 👀) I enjoyed this book a lot. I love that is was not destroyed with an ofer use of spice…just bravo girl bravo 👏🏻 The tension, the touches, the emotional roller coaster, who to trust?? Who to NOT trust?? All of it! Easily 5 stars!! Thank you so much to Hannah for the ARC! Can’t wait for the sequel!!
While I’ve never read a “Robin Hood” style re-retelling before, I am now converted and need more recs ASAP! This book had all the vibes and tropes I look for in a fantasy and me hooked from the first page. The world building sucked me in right away, and I instantly immersed myself in the story. I usually can tell within the first two chapters whether I’m going to be in love with a book, and I felt that with the unique plot of Thieves of Fate immediately. The tension and banter was sooooo on point, and the characters felt really authentic. Isla’s character development and growth was fantastic, and Rhylen was the perfect swoony MMC. I absolutely devoured this book and I’m already pining for the sequel!!!
💚 Romantasy 💚 Robin Hood Re-Telling 💚 Slow Burn 💚 Enemies to Lovers 💚 Only One Bed/Horse 💚 “Who Did This To You?” 💚 Mulitple POV 💚 Secrets & Betrayals
If you’re a fan of Robin Hood and Romantasy, you’ll love this! I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of this book.
It is developed well in terms of plot and multidimensional characters. It is a romantic retelling of Robin Hood but still offers a lot of of novel world building. I am intrigued to see where it goes in the next book. It is filled with Romantasy tropes and some banter so overall, I give it 3.5 stars (rounded up).
However, I am not a fan of the FMC. Isla is naïve to the point of pigheaded stubbornness in that she completely ignores the travesties going on around her because she thinks she’s in love with the son of her local Duke. Her best friend is constantly telling her to open her eyes, and she ignores it, despite proof. She only starts to change her mind when Rhylen tells her the same thing which really annoyed me.
Tropes - one horse, ‘enemies to lovers’, who did this to you?, one bed
So when does the next one come out…? I could not put this book down, it’s like my eyes were glued to the words. This book is so easy to read, and the pace keeps up throughout the whole book.
A Robin Hood retelling, with the firey slow-burn of enemies-to-lovers. This story keeps you hooked from the beginning. With rebels, troubling politics, and young love, what could go wrong?
I really enjoyed how the corruption was revealed. Our baby girl Isla is naive to the real world, but who can blame her? The extreme deception kept her blind, but our Hood will certainly help change that.
But Rhylen never asked to spearhead this rebellion. All he wanted was to help the people, so he has no choice but to step in when the tyrannical prince begins to dismantle his own kingdom.
I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to see how the series goes. Thank you to the author for an ARC, all opinion are my own.

Have you ever read a book that you didn’t know you needed or wanted? That’s what this book was for me. Honestly, I went into this book blind and I’m so glad I did! The only thing I knew about this book was that it was advertised as having fantasy elements. This book was so much more! This book was a retelling or at the very least inspired by Robin Hood. This book reminds me that there are always two sides to every story! The author did a great job balancing between giving us elements of the story that we know of Robin Hood while giving it a refreshing take. The journey that the main characters took had me on the edge of my seat for multiple different reasons. This book was refreshing and different from some of the books that I’ve read before. I can’t wait for the book 2 because I need to know what happens next!
A Robinhood retelling with magic, mysterious prophecies, hidden identity, and enemies to lovers vibes! Don’t mind if I do.
The vibes of this story were amazing. The characters were well developed and lovable. There was a lot of depth in the world building, but not so much that it was overbearing. And the plot twists were many! Some I could see coming; others not so much. The point is, my attention was fully devoted to seeing where the story would go and I wasn’t expecting it to end the way it did.
Overall, a good time was had while reading and I’ll definitely be picking up the next book as soon as it available. This rating is based purely on the vibes I got from Isla and Rhylen’s story. There were things that I noticed while reading that I wish would’ve been caught during editing, but those things didn’t take away from the enjoyment I got from the story itself.
The dedication alone got me. Robin Hood retelling, and such a good retelling. Fast paced, with all of the tropes. ✨one bed ✨Enemies to lovers ✨snarky banter ✨friends that become family ✨he falls first and touch her and ☠️
I did like that it wasn’t insta love. I like that they had to prove themselves to each other.
The side characters are well written and fun.
The negative for me is that Isla is gullible and doesn’t listen to others telling her how bad he is for her (read it and you’ll know who). She also isn’t looking at what’s in front of her.
Overall fun, banter full, no spice (unless kissing counts to you), read.
Thieves of Fate is a beautifully written robin-hood retelling with a twist! Isla, our FMC, is an extremely talented healer and I just love her attitude! And Rhylen is absolute perfection. There’s something about a deeply misunderstood “villain” that just does it for me. And can I just say, I love love loveeeee all of the side characters! Each one is unique and have so much personality. This book had me feeling all of the emotions, and it ends on such a good cliffhanger! When I finished Thieves of Fate, I was CRAVING book 2 already! Thank you so much Hannah Nicole for giving me a chance to be an ARC reader for such an amazing book!! I absolutely loved it and I hope that I get to ARC read book 2 as well!
This was an arc I was excited for but also a bit bummed about. I was so intrigued by all of the marketing and being a Robin Hood retelling but feel that the execution could’ve been better.
There are aspects that sucked me in - the lore of the world, the prologue, the overall plot, and the ending left me intrigued but at the moment I’m not sure if it’ll be enough to continue the series.
I didn’t feel connected to many of the characters, there were things within the character development and personalities that felt confounding. It felt like there was a lot of repetition of main moments. I felt like every time I was like “man idk if this is for me” something big would happen that would pull me back - which was great but the in between time kind of lulled unfortunately.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Spice level: 0 🌶️ If you love a good fairytale remix, this one is absolutely for you. Thieves of Fate gives us a version of Robin Hood unlike anything I’ve read before — darker, grittier, and packed with action. The FMC was a bit annoying and naïve at times, and she definitely fell for The Hood faster than I expected, but honestly the unique spin on the story kept me hooked. The world is harsh, the stakes are high, and it doesn’t shy away from some truly awful moments — so check the trigger warnings before you start. It does end on a cliffhanger, so be prepared. I’ll definitely be picking up the next book when it releases! A special thanks to the author for allowing me the privilege of reading this ARC. #ThievesOfFate #HannahNicole
I’m such a sucker for a good retelling, and my god…this book checks every box.
Isla is a naive, healing inclined, village girl when we meet her— sneaking around with the second born son of the duke, and holding romantic notions of their love for one another and their future.
Over the course of the book we get to watch as betrayal, prophecies, magic, world building, murder, and so much more take that girl and shape her into a force of a woman who refuses to be broken.
And Rhy? Oh my god. How I yearned for the two of them.
That plot twist. That cliff hanger. I’m unwell— I’ll be sitting here waiting for book 2 😭
I really enjoyed this take on the story of Robin Hood, mostly because it’s not an “in your face” adaptation. It nods to the legend without beating you over the head with it, which I appreciated. There were a few moments where I wished the author had let the scene breathe a bit more—some parts moved a little quicker than I expected, and I would’ve loved just a touch more detail or tension.
That being said, it was still a really fun read. The characters were easy to connect with, the world had a fresh spin, and by the time I hit the last chapter I was already planning on picking up the next book. Definitely excited to see where the story goes from here!
I received an ARC of this book to review. I really enjoyed reading this! It's loosely a Robin Hood retelling but with elements of magic. The FMC starts out sweet, sheltered and as the story progresses she starts to mature and grow in response to the challenges she faces. I also really liked the friendships that developed between the FMC and the MMC / his friends. There's a good balance between fast-paced adventure and plot development. It ends on a cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
I adored this book. The author’s lyrical writing and the melody woven through the dialogues transported me straight into Hood’s era, making me feel completely immersed in the story. I kept reading breathlessly, page after page. The suspense builds to a peak and ends on a cliffhanger — one that all the clues point toward, yet when it finally hits, you still want to scream and immediately grab the second book. Each character feels distinct, and together, they form the true heart of the story. A solid 5-star ARC read for me.
