Warmth: a cyberpunk tale

Rate this book
When memory becomes currency, humanity is collateral.

Clay Barrow remembers when the world still felt human. When coffee smelled like coffee, when news meant truth, when the Capitol was more marble than monitor. Now Washington D.C. is a ruin of glass and circuitry, rebuilt over its own corpse — a city where everything, even conscience, is for sale.

Clay is a burned-out information broker with implants he keeps turned off and a heart he keeps closed. Hired to find a ghost called The Archive, he descends beneath the ruins of the old Library of Congress and discovers what remains of Megan Price — a woman who once fought to preserve the truth and became trapped inside it instead.

What begins as a retrieval becomes a resurrection. Megan’s consciousness, starving for sensation after decades in the digital dark, merges with Clay’s failing body. Together they rediscover touch, taste, and tenderness — and in the process, unleash something beautiful and a contagion of remembering.

As truth begins to leak across the network and the world starts to wake, Clay and Megan must decide whether feeling human again is worth the cost of burning the new order down.

Warmth is a cyberpunk elegy — a love story about memory, intimacy, and rebellion in a world that forgot how to feel.
