Where to begin with this one?
Firstly, Lauderdale is an auto-buy author.
Secondly, she has single-handedly renewed my faith in novels with spice. I can't begin to tell you how much I've grown to dislike spicy books BECAUSE 99% of the time sex is there just to be there. Yes, I know that as humans we can have sex whenever we want, but PERSONALLY, I do not want to read chapter after chapter after chapter of it.
But I digress. Lauderdale was able to encapsulate a novel when sex is a huge plot point in a way I don't think I've ever read before.
Hattie is impeccable, her character is well-rounded, with so much emotion writhing under her flesh. Her thoughts are so real. She is the most relatable character. Her best friend Sam is my favorite, and everyone in REAL life needs one of them, and I find myself oddly jealous of a fictional character. Sam was brutally honest, as a friend should be, but Sam was fun and refreshing and gave Hattie so much more depth.
Finn, the poor love-struck man, is so sweet, but dear god, he can be the best Dom. I was sweating whenever he put his foot down. His character is also so well developed. He struggles with wanting Hattie but is terrified that he'll lose her if he comes on too strong. He wants more than their arrangement, and it's slowly killing him to not have all of her.
Abel, our lil stalker boy, is incredibly bi-curious after a romp with Hattie and Finn for a project. Did they know who he truly was? Absolutely not, because where's the fun in the game when they all know each other? His chapters are just as well-developed as the other characters. There's a pretty good in depth of his job, which adds a bit of flair to the novel.
All around this novel and author is a top shelf, forever, buy immediately kinda jam.
