It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
I have to say, this has definitely been my favourite book in this series so far.
My heart hurt for Chris as he watched Darci pine over Zane, when all he wanted was for her to love him like that. Unrequited love is a bitch!
As with all the Hot SEALs so far, it is a joy to be taken along for the ride as they find their match.
While this was a shortish book like the others in this series, this is one I just did not want to end.
I wanted to know so much more about Chris and Darci. I know we will get them in the stories about the other SEALS, but I really really want another whole book for them. There is just so much more to them than what we got.
Thank you Ms Johnson for another SEAL to fall in love with
Chris Cassidy is a retired Seal. He uses his training by working security with his former teammates. He's laid back except where Darci is concerned. He wants her. However their relationship would be complicated. Her brother is a friend and former Seal. I liked Chris. He's protective and caring. He's definitely a keeper. Darci is getting over a crush and doesn't see him as a romantic partner. I liked her. She stands up to her brother and demands respect. I was shocked that she missed Chris's interest. When he takes her on an assignment, things change. I loved seeing them begin a relationship. Their romance was special. When they're in danger, I was on the edge of my seat. The audiobook made me feel as if I were in the middle of the action. The narrator, Craig Jessen, brought Cat Johnson's characters to life. It enhanced the story. Kissed By A Seal was a romantic treat.
We already know Chris and Darci from the previous books - Chris is a 40-year-old ex SEAL and a partner in the newly formed security company GAPS - Guardian Angel Protection Services. Darci is his former team-mate Rick's little sister. And Chris has been lusting after her for a looong time. Only she doesn't take his flirting seriously....she's in love with another one of the guys - not-single-any-longer-Zane. Poor Darci. But Chris will not give up - he'll try everything to finally have her notice him as something other than a joking big brother-buddy.
MY THOUGHTS
I really enjoyed this book. I loved all the previous stories in the Hot SEAL Series - and this one was just as great.
A hot former special forces soldier and his buddie's cute little sister. A real recipe for disaster - because, of course, there's the BRO-CODE. You do NOT mess with a buddies' sister! But you can't help who you'll fall in love with.
Plus a bit of suspense - lots of sexy scenes and all those funny and adorable SEALs...
enjoyed this one; loved Chris I liked the storyline and it had a good flow and arc. Felt it was a complete book and not rushed. But it was still only a good/ok book - nothing to say you must read this one.
Wish Chris had his eyes on me instead of Darci. I really liked him and felt bad for him. Best character yet. Darci was kinda mean, I don't remember if her age was ever given out in the previous books but I think around 30??? She should know by then not to fall for the bad boys (Zane). Anyways, I hope she learns quickly what a nice guy actually looks like because one actually likes her. A perk of being beautiful I guess, sigh.
Just could not like Darci, who vacillated between acting like a poor imitation of a TV show inspired spy and seeming to forget it was a mission. What a dingbat. She's mental age 10 and emotional age 14. Not real bright but all teen drama. Why she appeals to Chris I'll never know. Oh. Right. Hot.
The series had been okay--a cute light easy read--up to this installment.
Let me save you trouble: quit before this one. I suffered through it (pain level 6 of 10). But the next one is the real stinker. Total DNF.
Miss Priss (my name for the main female character) can literally get a smoking hot Navy Seal that is retired and as he calls his civilian job as being a dead-end job and that his sister is not nor ever has been an operative and has had more work in the G.A.P.s organization just freshly formed as a private company to do just that do high-end security jobs be it company training, military consultation, personal security guard. Again, I must say ladies, this is a series you want to read if you love hot, smoking, hulky men to read you off to slumberland then this is the real deal! It seems that Cat Johnson has captured my wildest dreams and made them come true on paper or listening to a hot, smoky male voice reading the books to you. By the way, you do not want to listen to them if you have a husband who likes to talk to you when they are normally a quiet person. They get even with you especially if you have talked during one of their shows! She has another series with cowboys which I have not gotten to as of yet. I am still living my most x-rated fantasy with this series and will probably be looking for more along this line! I will not tell you what I saw 21 years ago when I went to Fort Sills, OK when my son graduated from basic. I would like to tell all of those who have served in our military THANK YOU! The Army retired my son medically after serving 16 years of active duty. Also, Cat Johnson, you do real justice to all of our armed forces and to you kudos! This is my third time around with this book!

So, the characters must be from another book. And either that's where Darci's personality was left or she never got one.
Unless chasing dick is a personality. She's apparently been hot for her brother's man ho friend Zane(who never showed even an inkling of interest). When Zane gets a girlfriend, Darcy decides all men suck and she hates them. Because again a dude who was never interested in her, found a girlfriend.
She still wants a man though, so she starts going down the list(literally)of her brother's other friends- and when she gets to Chris the love interest- she decides there must be something wrong with him because he's unmarried. And that must mean he wants to stay that way.
She's whiney, wants a man, and an offhand comment she works at a bank. Oh and she lives with her brother. That's all we get. Not even a half assed 'oh she has a great heart/always kind/loves to snuggle kittens'.
Chris is just piney-pinerson for years and likes her ass. He's more developed, but his choice in love interest(he knew about the Zane obsession the whole time) just makes him kinda... sad (plus the whole strip club/private room with the dancer that kinda reminds him of her... just...sad)
Anyway. They have sex. She says she's cool with it being just sex for the weekend. He's hurt but willing to do it. They get home, Darci offers him more secret sex. He says no because he likes her. Leaves. She eventually offers him more sex(and that's she's willing to accept his feelings), he points out that's clearly meaningless to her. She claims she has feelings. HFN?
You got to know the hero in this one in the past books. The hero is a retired SEAL who hangs around with the guys who have gotten out lately. One huge bonus is one of the guys' sister who his buddy lives with. The sister is our heroine. The bad thing is the one SEAL she had her eye on, is now taken, but the one who's been watching her, isn't. However, there is an unspoken rule among the teams which is you do not date or sleep with the sisters of the teammates, which is the only reason why he's kept his hands off.
However, the business his friends set up require our hero and heroine to team up for a short assignment. Once they leave on the assignment, our heroine sees a different side to our hero and finds this more than attractive. Her eyes are now wide open and are watching our hero. However, what will they do about the team rule?
At first the crush the hero had on the heroine was cute. Then their interactions started to get on my nerves and I hoped the story would move on. It did but it was a very slow crawl until it hit a point and then started a good pace. The characters were pretty likable and the plot, although slow in one area, came to life and finished on a high.
Darci always had her eye on Zane, the playboy, but now that he seems to have found Missy he isn't on the market anymore leaving her feeling lonely. Of course Chris, one of her brother Rick's teammates, is always around jokingly asking her out. She doesn't take him seriously though.
Chris has had a thing for Darci for years, but crossing the line with a teammates sister is forbidden, though he would risk it for Darci, though she won't give him a shot. He hasn't fully put himself out there with her, but reject is never easy.
After a mission calls for him blending in at a wedding to do security, they come up with the idea of Darci being his date. Having her by his side 24/7 is going to drive him crazy and being hard for him to keep his hands to himself. Darci is surprised to see the many sides of Chris, and while the serious SEAL side of him is sexy, she quite enjoys the joking relaxed side of him. She decides to give him a chance but just for the weekend. While is hurts Chris that she still doesn't see him as boyfriend material, he isn't going to let the chance pass him by. If only she can see him as more, he is willing to try.
Chris Cassidy had been interested in his teammate's sister Darci for year but she only saw another SEAL and never gave him a second thought. She goes on a job to Florida with Chris to pose as his girlfriend for cover and finds out what it means to be Kissed by a SEAL. Darci has always found Chris full of jokes and a fun guy but not one to be serious about until the trip to Florida.
The wedding party takes the resort yacht out for a dinner cruise, is bored by terrorists and Chris turns all business and takes down four armed men and saves the wedding party. They return home to Virginia early and Darci is faced with taking Chris seriously or not. He is looking for permanent and will accept nothing less from Darci and you will have to read this exciting love story to see if it has a happy ending or not.
Former Hot SEALs are not only starting GAP-Guardian Angel Protection , but some are finding their significant other. This time the story belongs to Chris Cassidy’s story. He is a 40 year old former SEAL, and Darci, sister of one of his friends and a former teammate. He’s always been attracted to her, but she’s had eyes only for another of the guys. When GAP gets a contract for a wedding in the Keys, Chris is sent, and Darci volunteers to go along. This was a short, fast paced story, with a little bit of everything : a vulnerable guy, a feisty female, bad guys and the possibility of romance, or maybe not, if Darci decides she only wants Chris for a booty call. Another entertaining story in this series. Once again, Craig Jessen does an excellent job with the narration.
This is Book 4 from the HOT SEALs SERIES written by Cat Johnson and narrated by Craig Jessen. This was "Kissed By A Seal" which I really did enjoy. The characters were funny, alive, and there was lots of action, suspense, and romance all throughout, things that I look for in this genre of romance novels.
Cat did a wonderful job in writing this particular addition to her series and Craig Jessen did an AWESOME job as the narrator I would recommend this one to others! I'm on my way to listening to the next one in the series.
Chris has wanted a relationship with Darci for quite some time. The problem is she wants Zane who is in a relationship with Missy now. Darci needs to get over Zane. She had hoped when he was ready to settle down, it would be with her. Guess not. GAPS has finally gotten a job. Chris is the only one able to go. Darci will be going with for his cover. While there, things escalate between them. Unfortunately, Darci thinks it's just a weekend fling. When the yacht is taken over by pirates, Chris knows he has to save everyone, especially Darci. They are back. Will Darci be ready for more than just a fling?
While this is the fourth book in the Hot SEALs series, it can be read/listened to as a stand alone story. It was nice to revisit a lot of the characters from the first book, so it would be nice, but not required, to listen to the first book before this one.
I listened to the Audible version. Craig Jessen did a great job with the narration. He used distinct voices for different characters and varied his delivery to emphasize the characters' feelings.
Chris has lived Darci from afar as she didn't notice him and she was his team mates sister so a definite no no. An unexpected security job throws them together which was ok until things went totally off course. Can Chris save the day and make Darci consider a relationship with him. A short holiday read.
I think this series on audiobook has become a bit of an addiction for me. Take a hot alpha SEAL, some romance, danger, maybe a bit of suspense, add in awesome narration and I’m hooked! I could listen all day as I accomplish housework, errands, etc. -3.5 Stars!-
Kissed by a SEAL: Hot SEALs (Hot SEALs series book 4)
Darci was always around her brother's SEAL friends and had a huge crush on Zane. But Zane wasn't interested. Chris on the other hand was always interested in her. It took a case for her to fine the right guy.
Laughter, loving and drama! You're sure to enjoy this book featuring Chris and Darci and the first GAPS assignment! Sometimes it's hard to see what's in front of you when you become too comfortable.
Cat Johnson has outdone herself with this series. Every book is better than the one before. I love her style of writing and the way she crafts her storylines. I can’t wait to read the next book!
This book is part of Hot Seals books 4-6. Slow slow oh so slow! Then wham bam it gets going hard and then stop..ends. The last few chapters make u want to read the next and the next, just so u can catch a bit more of Chris and Darci’s story
