THE DROWNED is the pulse-pounding first book in the Deluge series, perfect for fans of Hugh Howey's Silo series, A.G. Riddle, and Michael Crichton. Begin an epic journey through a drowned world where survival depends on who you trust and what you're willing to sacrifice.
I write post apocalyptic science fiction both on my own account and with Mike Kraus, as well as space opera and fantasy. And one or two other bits and bobs.
Based in the south of England, I've been writing since my teens, alternating between funny and serious. In the mid 1990s, I became a regular columnist for PC Pro magazine and have written a number of business and craft books over the years.
Fiction is my first love, however - I hope you enjoy my voyages into an uncertain future.
The Drowned is the incredible Deluge series opener, by Kevin Partner. It begins with the inescapable global mega-tidal wave, that engulfs those present on Ventura Pier and Beach... including Bobby Rodriguez and his beautiful eight year old daughter Maria, simultaneously swamping a swathe of low-lying global coastline regions. Maria's Mom Ellie, a marine biologist and charter boat captain, is on a charter for Pierce, a veteran film-star and Jodi, his spoilt girlfriend, (plus her mentor's sailor son Tom, as crew). They've set out on what they all expect to be a standard cruise/fishing trip, far off the Florida coast - but is it far enough away to save them?

The Drowned, book 1 in the Deluge series is about a massive global flooding caused by a failed experiment to slow Antarctic ice loss went awry and flooded coastlines under ~300M of water. The story features several disparate storylines which come together by the dire circumstances. The writing is of a high level, with believable characters with realistic motivations, an interesting story, good plot and pacing. Overall, 5/5 stars, highly recommended for the apocalyptic survival thriller crowd. I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to continuing the series!
Trying to save the world from climate change a group of scientists refuse to hear or heed the warning from a colleague. The destruction worldwide and change to humanity will last a very long time. Survivors search for a safe place among what's left. Resources per usual are hard to come by and not often shared. Pockets of people become new small groups you root for and follow on different journeys. Worth the read!
When they try to save the earth, the exact opposite happens—a massive flood takes over everything. The descriptions of this water‑covered world are excellent, and the different groups of people fighting to survive feel real and tense. It also shows just how much danger and darkness can come out in people when everything falls apart. Overall, it was a good, fast read, and I’m definitely ready for book two.
This is the 2nd series by Partner I've read. This is just the 1st book, and I can't wait for the rest. I have thought about how it would be should happen and what it would be like is frightening! Great work. Recommend it to all.
