One misdirection, and effervescent vacation-home reviewer Sage Featherstone comes bounding up to the door of the wrong cabin. Lucky her.

The owner is Travis Blacksburg, a broody, out-of-this-world-sexy tech billionaire. A quick look at that GQ body, and Sage’s fantasies are running wild. So are Travis’s. With Sage’s spirited personality, mop of pink hair, and lack of boundaries, Travis can’t wait to kill her. Because that’s what he does. Thirty-eight victims so far. And his latest target just walked into his life, looking absolutely irresistible.

But for a man who usually takes great care with his kills, it’s getting complicated. He’s falling for her. And when Sage catches on to Travis’s secret life, she doesn’t run screaming. Maybe she can fix him. Her life could depend on it, and he’s too hot to abandon. They’re taking ride-or-die romance to the next level, but his moral vices aren’t the only unexpected threat to their happily ever after…

I was initially a little worried that this book was going to try to be like one of Brynne Weaver’s but it ended up going in its own direction. I haven’t read this author in a while, and when I saw this book, it seemed like a great opportunity to dive into one of her books again. I had enjoyed the last series and had a feeling I would feel the same way about this book.

This was a grumpy x sunshine, and the FMC was the golden retriever. It was cute and entertaining, no high stakes drama. I didn’t laugh out loud, but I was amused.

I was pleasantly surprised that the story ended up being a little bit deeper than I had originally thought. There was more going on behind the scenes that had not been expected which added that extra element we didn’t know the story needed.

It was a nice easy read and I’m looking forward to reading what this author comes up with next.

Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read this book. All opinions are my own.

This book is what Fifty Shades would have been If Christian wanted to kill Ana. I have to honestly say that this book has a high spice rating and wouldn't be my normal go-to read, but the synopsis did not clue me in to what I was getting myself into. That being said, the author did pull me in, and I wanted to know how this dynamic of the naive girl and the control freak guy was going to play out. This meet cute, enemies to lovers makes for the perfect beach read...if you can handle all that spice in public.

🔪 👀 ARC BOOK REVIEW 👀 🔪

PUB DATE: June 29th 2026

My Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 3 Hot 🥵 Disturbing Stars

“That’s what I get for not sticking to the original plan. That woman is causing me to lose my mind. She’s a distraction I don’t need. I have to get rid of her sooner rather than later.”

“He is so handsome in a suit. Everything about him is so neat and perfect. Especially his face, which I would like to sit on one day.”

“Wait. Am I comparing sex to a pastry? I blush at my own internal thought. Travis can butter my biscuit any day.”

Ha ! Big Fat Ha! Now that was a dumpster fire I didn’t know I needed !

If you’re looking for a meet cute romance , keep scrolling because this ain’t it !

This is a dark romance thriller , with unhinged characters, raunchy sex scenes, characters you will HATE, serial killers, characters who have zero respect for themselves, characters who lack brain cells and dark humor!

Sage is a travel influencer who knocks on a cabin in the secluded woods ( yah you see where this is going) only to arrive at the wrong cabin….or is it the right cabin 🤔

Travis is a billionaire and he has a thirst for killing….will Sage be his next victim or will he be eating her for dinner 😉

This is a nonsensical page turner with unlikeable characters and will have you rolling your eyeballs so far back in your head you’ll be seeing your past lives 😂😂

I did find it a bit repetitive and some scenes too drawn out but still had me laughing at the diabolical POV’s!!

If you love naughty vulgar stories with serial killers then you might just find this one extra spicy !

Spice Level - 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ ( take that with a grain of salt as I don’t typically read this genre - it could be more or less to you more seasoned steamy readers )

Thank you Netgalley , Montlake & C.Hallman for this Sizzling ARC !

the premise of this one immediately grabbed me 👀
a travel influencer accidentally ending up in the wrong cabin in the woods… and meeting a dangerously intense stranger? that setup has so much potential for suspense, tension, and dark romance vibes
Sage, a bright and bubbly travel influencer, walks into what she thinks is a simple Airbnb review—and instead finds herself face-to-face with Travis, a grumpy, unsettling man who clearly exists on the darker end of the spectrum and views her more like a potential problem than a guest 😳
on paper, the dynamic is intriguing: sunshine energy meets cold, unpredictable darkness.
unfortunately, this one didn’t fully land for me in execution.
Sage’s characterization leaned a bit too far into impulsive and easily attached for my taste, and it made it harder to fully connect with her emotional journey. her rapid emotional attachment felt unbalanced, which pulled me out of the story at times.
Travis, while initially very compelling in concept, felt underdeveloped in practice. there were hints of deeper backstory and complexity that could have really elevated his character, but they weren’t explored in enough depth to fully ground his motivations or emotional layers.
the pacing also felt uneven—some sections dragged with slow build-up, while others moved forward too quickly to fully absorb key developments. that inconsistency made it harder to stay fully immersed in the tension the story was aiming for.
overall, while the concept had strong potential and the setup was genuinely intriguing, the execution didn’t quite work for me personally.
I can absolutely see how this story could work for readers who enjoy darker, fast-spiraling romance dynamics, but it ultimately wasn’t the right fit for me 💭

I read this book in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. The premise grabbed my attention immediately and it didn’t disappoint.

Free spirit Sage, a travel influencer, accidentally end up at the wrong Airbnb for her stay in North Carolina. Instead of her host, she lands on the doorstep of Travis, an extremely organized, slightly odd, but incredibly gorgeous, neighbor. She has interrupted his perfectly scheduled life and he makes sure she knows it. Sage, however, becomes absolutely infatuated with Travis, immediately dreaming of taking his last name. She craves knowing more about him, what’s a little stalking going to hurt?

When a follower of Sage gets bolder in each message, Sage turns to Travis for help. She works her way into his meticulously scheduled life, and the secrets he works so hard to keep hidden, won’t stay hidden forever. A loaner and a free spirit make quite the match, but Travis will do just about anything to keep Sage as his.

This book was a nice mix of thrill and humor and it didn’t lack in the spice department. I had no problem envisioning this book unfolding and I love how Sage didn’t stop trying to crack Travis’ hard shell. The way he deviated only for her made my heart melt faster than…. well I’ll let you read it to know where I’m going with that.

I will definitely recommend this book to others and I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Wrong Cabin, Right Time by C. Hallman

Fun and Unhinged

Vibe Score: 🎉🎉🎉 3/5
⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)
🌶️🌶️🌶️ Spice: 3/5
— — —
⚡ Forced Proximity
⚡ Damsel in Distress
⚡ Found Family
⚡ Morally Grey Hero
— — —
⚠️ Trigger Warning: themes of non-consent, murder, and consensual and non-consensual violence.
— — —
This book wastes no time — it throws you straight into the deep end with unhinged characters, tension-soaked scenes, and spice that doesn’t let up. We follow Sage and Travis as they navigate attraction versus vice, all while slowly unravelling the mystery of each other and the age-old question: can I fix them?
Sage is the standout here. Her personality carries the story, and her backstory adds real weight to the chaos around her. The banter between her and Travis crackles — it’s the kind of push-pull that keeps you turning pages well past bedtime.
— — —
Where it fell short for me: the pacing stumbled in places, and the book had a tendency to over-explain — leaving little room for the reader to sink in and fill the gaps themselves.
— — —
If you loved Haunting Adeline or Butcher & Blackbird, this one belongs on your radar. Fast, addictive, and completely unhinged in the best way.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. Both characters are something else. The FMC is head over heels for a stranger she ended up in the cabin thinking it was her Airbnb and she decided to stalk him because she created this false love scenario between the two. The MMC is a killer with OCD, he has a schedule to tend and the FMC is a messy all over the place person. Even though the FMC hears the red flags and even the MMC tells her he was going to kill her. She is still there and creating this illusion. When the MMC kills the FMCs stalker she is like even more in love with the MMC all the while the MMC doesn't know what to do with the feelings he feels for her but he wants to stick to what he knows and has been living. The FMC thinks they should be a vigilante killer type couple and he just wants to kill for fun. The MMCs neighbor turns out to be a pychopath and wanted to hurt the FMC but the MMC gets there in time to kill him. The MMC tells her she needs to go and she ends up leaving to go to her parents commune. The MMC has a change of heart when he picks up his next killing victim and drives over to the commune where the FMC is at to profess his love for her. They end up being the vigilante killer couple like how the FMC wanted.

First and foremost thank you Netgalley, Montlake & C. Hallman for allowing me to read this arc.
Unfortunately I don't think I would recommend this book which is why I rated it 2.5⭐️
The FMC falls head over heels IMMEDIATELY and she is just so unaware and have no self preservation skills to the point I could not take this book seriously. You could not tell me the MMC was not forced to love her. Their love was so unbelievable and far fetched. Everything she did would've gotten her killed in real life if Travis was a real serial killer. Also, theres nothing wrong with it and I love books that have representation but (it was not stated in the book)it seemed like Travis mightve been on the spectrum. Throughout the entire book I was trying to diagnose him. And by the end I was diagnosing her too because what?!?
Also I was left with one question....spoiler:

Who was following him during the ice cream scene? It seems like that was mentioned but never brought back up or answered. Was it Ryan? If it was Ryan how did Travis not know that was his neighbor? You mean to tell me he knows the names of all his neighbors in a 5 mile radius but he doesnt know what they look like? And hes a serial killer?? Ok

If you enjoy dark books about serial killers.... this one fits that bill!!

Travis has killed almost 40 people... with his resources (he's a billionaire since he sold a company early on), he has a pretty sweet setup where it would be hard to catch him... unless you live with him....

Sage - is a 20 something Instagram influencer.... pretty much what you would expect from that name & description... she smokes weed & fancies herself in love with Travis from the get go.

There are some decent plot twists and some humor... and spice... but I just didn't love it. The book is told in a dual first person POV, switching back & forth between Sage & Travis. A couple things that were unexpected - he falls for her eventually & changes his mind about killing her, instead trusting her with his secrets & even lets her go when she wants to. She decides that she can live with his lifestyle at first...but that changes later... I won't share more to not give anything away. I did like the ending.

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Thank you to the author, publisher & Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I received an ARC of Wrong Cabin, Right Time by C. Hallman from NetGalley, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to read it before it is published on June 30th 2026🤍📚

Going into this book, I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did but wow, it completely surprised me. At first, I wasn’t totally sold, but as the story progressed, I found myself more and more hooked. By the end, I couldn’t put it down!

Sage and Travis definitely have that instant connection/insta-love dynamic, which isn’t always my favorite trope. However, the plot really made up for it. It kept building in a way that had me constantly wanting to know what would happen next 👀

C. Hallman did a great job with the writing. It was engaging, intriguing, and kept me on my toes the whole time. Even when I had my reservations early on, the story pulled me in and didn’t let go.

Because of the insta-love element, I’m giving this book 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but overall, it was such an enjoyable and addictive read!

The premise of this book seemed interesting : A happy-go-lucky influencer (Airbnb reviewer) accidentally enters the wrong cabin. In doing so, she ends up on the radar of a sociopathic serial unaliver who just might make her his next victim.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would when I first read the blurb. My first impression of Sage, the FMC, was that she was annoying (she says things like "OMG" in a non-sarcastic way). And though she grew on me a little bit as the story progressed, it wasn't enough to cancel my first impression. The MMC was a bit bland.
Their relationship progressed really fast, perhaps a bit too much to feel believable. There's an element of suspense in the story, with a stalker and a hint that someone might be closing in on the MMC's proclivities. The pacing of it was a bit off unfortunately, so I didn't quite feel the suspense as much as I would have liked.

All in all, it was an OK read. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.

Thank you NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Okay, let's go through the buzz words shall we?

Dark? Yes.
Sexy? At times, yes.
Funny? I'm not seeing it.
Meet-cute? Not in the slightest.

I went into this under the impression that I was going to be met with a grumpy serial killer and sunshine social media influencer dynamic, and all I got was a man with a considerably large stick up his butt and a woman with zero boundary recognition or respect. I was expecting sarcastic quips and comedic timing, not disappointment and confused grimacing. Somewhere around 30% I lost the plot and could not find my way back, which is rather concerning coming from a USA Today Bestselling author.

Additionally, the ARC I received did not have any kind of trigger warning or content disclosure, which I feel is very necessary for some of the topics and events that occur within the story (Chapter 13, I'm looking at you).

2⭐️ First off I want to thank net gallery and the author for letting me arc read this book. With that being said this wasn’t my cup of tea.

Things to expect
- grumpy x sunshine
- Serial killer
- Duel pov
- First person

Thoughts
I just quite frankly couldn’t stand sage. I thought she was one of the most annoying agitating characters I’ve read about. To me she felt like a pick me girl and I just couldn’t stand her personality. Travis was fine he didn’t really stand out to me he was just an average mmc. He is what made the book bearable. I think that’s people would like this if you are into a romcom dark romance it’s just that’s not always what I reach for and I am very specific on which ones I like and which ones I don’t. I also felt like their relationship escalated to fast for me. Overall I think this is for someone just not me.

I was given an e-arc to review via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I loved the premise for this book - Sage, a cheery travel influencer goes to review an air BnB but ends up at the wrong cabin in the woods where she meets Travis, a grumpy sociopath who considers making her his next victim.

I struggled with this book. No matter how hard I tried I just did not like the main characters. Sage was just far too gullible and fell far too quickly to the point of being obsessive. Travis just didn’t seem to have much dimension to him - there was potential for it as we learned some of his back story but I felt this could have been done in much more detail to make him a more rounded character. The pacing also felt off - sometimes frustratingly slow and at other times very rushed.

I’m sure many people will enjoy this one but unfortunately it just wasn’t for me.

I received this arc from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn't sure what I was getting into with this book but it was definitely a "crazy" ride....and I mean the leading lady is certified nuts. Honestly I feel like she needed to tone it down. I won't lie, I found her annoying a lot.

Story wise it was a pure accident when she stumbles across a man that she falls for instantly. While he's annoyed and adding her to his "list". They couldn't be any more opposites of each other. He craves control in everything. He schedules every minute of his day and hates changes. Then you have her who goes with the flow and never plans. Together they definitely keep things interesting. And what's a few murders thrown into the mix. And a whole lot of spice!

dnf @ 59%

I hate dnfing arcs, but I accidentally set this down and could not force myself to pick it back up. I promise in no way was I expecting literature, but I did want something fun and sexy. This was neither of those things; it was just annoying. From the beginning Sage is aggravating in a way that was not quirky but eye gouging. Travis has no personality besides a potential neurodivergence coding that does not seem done well in my opinion.

However, I would have forgiven it if it were hot. Somehow, in a book with a premise such as this, the sex is vanilla and boring. I was expecting to clutch my pearls and it be a bit far for me but I think the worst we got was a knife against Sage for like a second. Booooooo you're a literal serial killer do something.

✨ Thank you NetGalley for this ARC

This one unfortunately fell flat for me. The premise sounded fun and the storyline was promising but it felt incredibly rushed and the characters lacked substance. The humour was absolutely there and kept me thoroughly entertained the entire time, however there were some serious topics that were glazed over and really skewed the reading experience.
It’s advertised as a meet cute between the characters but it read more as obsessive and forced sadly. This is definitely personal preference however and I think the right reader could really enjoy this! The writing was quick, fun and easy to get through.

I unfortunately wasn't a big fan of this and that's mainly due to how the characters were portrayed. Sage was super bubbly and quite obsessive in a naive way while Travis was very logic based and quite emotionless/emotionally stunted. While there's nothing wrong with that, it felt like they were just that, with no other aspects to their characters or any light and shade to their personalities. It made it hard to connect to them or believe the relationship between them. I think the plot could have been interesting but again it felt very surface level and things that had been built up were resolved quickly and really easily.

I enjoyed this book a lot, it's definitely a deranged romance but it's funny.
I really liked that the MMC is a serial killer and the FMC is a stalker, they are both insane and that makes them a good match.
I would say it has a lot of funny moments,it also has a good plot.
I feel like it lacked a bit of the romance since the MMC is a serial killer,he's very obsessed with schedules and stuff like that, he is very analytical and doesn't really express his feelings very well.
Still, the book is very interesting and different.

Wrong Cabin, Right Time by C. Hallman was such a fun and easy read for me. Sage Featherstone and Travis Blacksburg have a chaotic and entertaining dynamic from the moment she accidentally ends up at the wrong cabin, and honestly, that made the book impossible to put down.

I loved the contrast between Sage’s carefree and outgoing personality and Travis’s darker, more reserved, and obsessive side. Their scenes together had so much chemistry, mixed with dark humor that made everything feel addictive and different. The snowy setting and forced proximity in the cabin made the romance even more intense. It’s a fun, sexy story that’s perfect to finish in one sitting.

I received an ARC from NetGalley.

I had really high expectations for this book, given the synopsis (dark, funny romance).

It sounded like it was going to be a fun and humorous ride, but I found it was really lacking the humor.

I did like Travis from the start - his strict Type A personality and schedule keeping.
But Sage was just not a realistic character, and found her mostly annoying.

For it being a short-ish book, it felt very dragged out. Obviously, the story is pretty far-fetched, but it is still a decent read.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

A grumpy-sunshine serial killer romance. Overall not terrible, but didn’t love it. A solid 3ish star book for me. I thought it was fast paced and easy to read, if not a little predictable. The characters were kind of flat and could have used some more development. MMC is a classic control freak and slave to his routines until suddenly those routines are upended by the FMC who seems like chaos incarnate. She’s obsessed with him - like immediately planning their wedding - he’s annoyed by her and her lack of strict routines. She weasels her way into his life and basically stays there.

I REALLY enjoyed this book. It was hilarious, sexy, irreverent with very enjoyable main characters including one absolutely precious serial killer and a female main character with absolutely admirable self confidence. I’m going to assume there is a second book in the series because there were some things introduced that weren’t really explored but definitely a book with a HEA (albeit maybe some more things to flesh out). Some problematic elements besides the whole serial killer thing but I think the book acknowledged the problematic nature of them enough (I think?)

I guess that I shouldn't be surprised that this man committed to a woman so quickly since he's committed 38 murders but he also folded immediately with one glimpse of a naked ass cheek. Also, you know what's sketchier than a serial killer taking up an interest in you? A man who has never eaten a brownie and considers butter a crime against the body.

Content Warning: murder, torture, stalking, threat of sexual violence

This book might be for some people but it’s not for me. Yes it was funny and cute at times. But most of the time I was just cringing. First off, Sage was so insufferable to me. Like I get getting a crush after meeting someone the first time, but she was killing me with her talk of “that’s my future husband” and even to the point where she told her parents about him. It was just awful to me. Secondly, Travis wasn’t that bad, even tho he was plotting sage’s murder half the book. And i think that sentence summarizes this book…

A comical yet dark romance built on a perfect opposites-attract dynamic. The routine-loving, broody MMC contrasts beautifully with the spontaneous, sunshine-filled FMC who lives in the moment. Their differences create both hilarious and heartfelt moments, making their connection feel natural and engaging. The storyline is interesting without being overwhelming, and the characters are genuinely cute as they grow and influence each other. A fun, emotional read with just the right balance of humor and depth.

Sage, instagrammer and Airbnb reviewer, turns up at the wrong cabin for her stay. She turns up at Travis’, just your average tech billionaire serial killer. He’s planning his next kill. She’s planning their future together.

Sage is incredibly annoying, shallow and marrying herself off to Travis after their first brief meeting. She believes he feels the connection too and essentially throws herself at him. I found her unbearable.

The idea sounded great, the execution was a let down.

This book was not for me. I really wanted to DNF it, but I pushed through it. Sage annoyed me from the start. I’m all for the romcom’s dark romance everything like that, but her and her mind and how she fabricated Insta love on Travis was just too much for me.

Her delusion of not even knowing him for a week and being in love when he couldn’t stand, it was crazy.

I really had high hopes for this one, but I just think it was an executed that great.

I was so excited to receive this ARC but it just feel flat for me.
There was some funny parts but overall the characters were insufferable
Especially Sage, she was just too delusional to be believable & really annoying.
Travis was a typical neurotic serial killer so I could get over it but his outburst ground my gears for some reason
The premise was interesting but the characters ruined it for me
