I feel bad bc I never would rate anything one star not even the pickleball book but literally what was this..??? How can someone pick up this book and actually enjoy it?
There were more spicy scenes than literally anything else even more than the word “meticulously” (in other forms of the word also in many different endings) was used.
The only reason I finished this book was because it might be the one to end my relationship with reading because of how freaking awful it was and I needed to prove to myself that I could do it.
The plot was PERFECT, like the layout of everything, the twist was pretty good… HOWEVER the smut & the IMMEDIATE “feelings” that Sage had for Travis was just soooo unrealistic.
Another point which I was reminded of by my previous mini paragraph was the dynamic of the relationship. Listen, I’m no diehard feminist (I’d love for a man to make all the money & for me to cook at home) but the fact Sage was ALL UP IN TRAVIS’ BIZ from the literal millisecond he met her was just gross and the fact he could disregard her so easily ticked me off.
Anyways, I hated it but other than that it was a good book!

As much as I love rom-com's, this book wasn't entirely for me as it took a good percentage of the book before I started enjoying the storyline and characters. Although there were moments where I laughed, my initial thought was that Sage and Travis were meant for each other because they are both equally as obnoxious. Fortunately, these two eventually grew on me and I enjoyed their quirkiness.
This is a grumpy sunshine serial killer meets travel influencer with a crush and a will no one can conquer. I listened to the audio narrated by CJ Bloom and Nelson Hobbs and find both narrators to be excellent performers. Ultimately, I would say it was the performance that ended up winning me over on these characters. This is also a book that you have to check reality at the door or your will roll your eyes over scenes that happen.
Final opinion, this could be a good book for the right people and while I ended up enjoying the story, it is not my favorite.

i really do no enjoy serial killer romcoms and for some reason i keep giving them a shot in the hopes that it would change my mind, i yet have to fine one in such.

I was initially a little worried that this book was going to try to be like one of Brynne Weaver’s but it ended up going in its own direction. I haven’t read this author in a while, and when I saw this book, it seemed like a great opportunity to dive into one of her books again. I had enjoyed the last series and had a feeling I would feel the same way about this book.
This was a grumpy x sunshine, and the FMC was the golden retriever. It was cute and entertaining, no high stakes drama. I didn’t laugh out loud, but I was amused.
I was pleasantly surprised that the story ended up being a little bit deeper than I had originally thought. There was more going on behind the scenes that had not been expected which added that extra element we didn’t know the story needed.
It was a nice easy read and I’m looking forward to reading what this author comes up with next.

This book is what Fifty Shades would have been If Christian wanted to kill Ana. I have to honestly say that this book has a high spice rating and wouldn't be my normal go-to read, but the synopsis did not clue me in to what I was getting myself into. That being said, the author did pull me in, and I wanted to know how this dynamic of the naive girl and the control freak guy was going to play out. This meet cute, enemies to lovers makes for the perfect beach read...if you can handle all that spice in public.

First things first: Wrong Cabin, Right Time is a dark romantic comedy, so definitely check the content warnings before diving in!
The hero, Travis, is a sexy tech billionaire who happens to be an actual serial killer—and no, he’s not a vigilante. He has 38 victims, he is a true villain, and the spice is incredibly dark. But if that’s your vibe, you are going to absolutely love this.
This was such an entertaining grumpy-meets-sunshine romance. Sage is this bubbly, pink-haired travel influencer, and Travis is a reclusive, broody billionaire. They couldn't be more different, which is exactly why their dynamic works so well. Since it's written in dual POV, you get to see how completely opposite their thoughts are. Honestly, it is wild watching Sage enthusiastically plan their entire life together while Travis is actively trying to figure out how to end hers.
While their personalities feel pretty extreme at the start, the author drops subtle hints later on that explain why they are the way they are. They're both damaged in their own ways, and that's ultimately what brings them together. I especially loved that when Sage finally catches on to his secret life, she doesn't run screaming. Instead, she fully leans into the "I can fix him" mentality because he's simply too hot to walk away from.
The first half does a lot of heavy lifting to set up their differences and build the foundation for the rest of the book, so it can feel a little slow at first. But don't worry, because the pace completely takes off in the second half. It turns into a wild, sexy, ride-or-die romance that is totally worth the read!

I not only didn’t want to put this book down—I didn’t by the way—when I finished, I wanted to read it again! It was one of those, don’t bother me, I’m at a good part, but they’re all good parts.
From the moment Sage literally walks into Travis’ life, or I should say cabin, albeit the wrong cabin — Travis wanted to unalive her. You would think it to be love at first sight, but no, it was merely one-sided, and that side was only coming from Sage. She had loud flip-flops, pink hair, and a bubbly, disorderly personality. In her mind, she met her future husband! And Travis, who is quite meticulous and reclusive—think Sheldon of the Big Bang Theory tendencies, but with a s3r!al k!ll3r style. Yes, he was beyond annoyed by her.
I loved both of these characters and the story as well. Author C. Hallman never fails to deliver a solid story, some fun twists, and plenty of spice. I’m so glad I ended June with a 5-star read.

The dual narration for this audiobook was great! CJ & Nelson but did a great job bringing this story & it's characters to life!
If you like dark rom coms with banter for days & a big opposites attract vibe look no futher.♡

Okay, this book was absolutely UNHINGED and I loved every ridiculous minute of it. 😂🔪🔥
Sage accidentally showing up at the wrong cabin and immediately becoming completely obsessed with Travis , while Travis is basically trying to figure out when and how he’s going to kill her was honestly one of the funniest dark romance setups I’ve read in a while. Sage has absolutely ZERO survival instincts, and her whole “yeah, he might be a serial killer…but have you SEEN him?” attitude had me dying.
And Travis! This man has spent his life being organized, controlled, and very particular about his kills, and then this pink haired ball of sunshine barges into his cabin, ignores every warning sign imaginable, gets all up in his business, and completely wrecks his carefully ordered life. Watching him become more confused by his feelings for her while still casually contemplating murder was hilarious.
Their personalities should not work together AT ALL, which somehow makes them perfect. The banter was great, the dark humor hit exactly right for me, and the spice was definitely SPICING. 🥵🌶️
You absolutely have to check reality at the door with this one, but that was part of the fun for me. It was dark, ridiculous, sexy, funny, and completely over the top in the best way.
The audiobook was absolutely phenomenal! It made this book! Literally this book was already hilarious and steamy and perfection but the audiobook listening to it bringing this story to life was the icing on the cake! Bravo Cassie ! Bravo on this original masterpiece! This is why she’s one of my favorite authors! She never disappoints!

Summary: The FMC is Sage. She is a full-time traveller and content creator who also does reviews for Airbnb‘s. She arrives to the MMC‘s house thinking that is the Airbnb rental she’s supposed to be at only to find she is at the wrong address. But she meets Travis, the MMC and immediately becomes smitten with him.
Once she gets checked in to the right place, she begins to plot any scenario in which she can see Travis again much to his chagrin. Travis has very little tolerance for anything that affects his very regimented schedule. He is obsessive when it comes to the control that he has over his life, given his proclivities toward violence and murder. Travis is a serial killer who makes no apologies about what he does and who he does it too.
So while Sage is planning their love story and their future, Travis is planning for her murder. A large portion of the book is the back-and-forth that happens between the main characters. Ultimately the FMC finds out about the things that Travis has done, and to his surprise she’s OK with it. When one of her social media followers alludes to threats to her safety, Travis knows that he needs to handle the situation in the only way that he knows how. With Sage’s help, things get taken care of only for Sage to find herself in another compromising position that once again, Travis must handle.
The care that he has for Sage sort of freaks him out, and he pushes the FMC away before ultimately realizing that he actually can’t live without her.

Final thoughts: This wasn’t bad. This was a free to read and free to listen on KU and Audible premium so I took advantage of that. I fear that the male narrator impacted my ability to truly enjoy the book because I just didn’t really enjoy him. He was so robotic in his talking, monotone in every single scene, and it would’ve been helpful if he had matched what the MMC was actually thinking and feeling in those moments.
Because the banter between the main characters was really good. From the beginning, Sage became smitten with Travis and was literally planning their wedding and their future while he was planning how he was going to unalive her. That was very funny and the way that she just inserted herself into his life, messing up his entire routine, throwing his schedule completely out of control, and the way that he reacted to all of that was good. And that is where I wished the narrator would have been able to capture some of that. But that was not the case. So overall yes to the story, but I would probably pass on the audiobook.

Sage an influencer, gets the wrong cabin. Travis a recluse billionaire who likes his own company sends her on her way. Sage however, has taken a liking to said man and will do anything to keep him close, one minor problem may stand in her way…he is a serial killer.

The story flows through with back n forth, grumpy/sunshine and some spicy times. I can’t say I laughed or scoffed, for me it just didn’t seem comedic just ‘silly’ antics on her part. Um. So I love a dark romcom but this one didn’t do it for me. It wasn’t a complete fail, and I did (force myself to) finish the book. Some of MMC Travis’s inner monologue legit made me crack a smile, esp as his strong desire to kill FMC Sage for the first half of the book is super relatable (man, is she irritating). The premise of the book was also really fun so two thumbs up for the general concept, if not the full execution.
Some of the details were wrong/sloppy/contradictory (one minute he’s wearing a white button down shirt and one minute it’s a white tee, for example) so the editing team needs to tighten up a bit, but really my main issue is I just never truly felt the chemistry. This was partly (mainly?) bc Sage was a fairly vapid, annoying character, which made her hard to relate to or care about. There were times she was somewhat less ridiculous but those scenes seemed so out of character for her it felt disjointed and forced. I know part of the humor is meant to be how big the hearts are in her eyes right away, and the author is trying to amplify the grumpy-sunshine trope here, but it makes it harder to buy the inner darkness she supposedly embraces by the end bc she is so forking absurd for most of the book. There’s a likably naive ball of sunshine and then there’s an eye roll-inducing doormat.
Also: the spice was just…not it. There was a lot of it, which I’m usually cool with, but the smex scenes felt really gross thanks to the weird verbiage used (I lost count of how many times the MMC “shoved” himself into her, for example). And lots of screaming and spasming on her part. I dunno. It didn’t hit right and felt crass and forced more than anything.

She’s naming their babies, he’s planning her demise. Tbh I wanted to kill her too. Who dashes into someone’s house that clearly doesn’t want you there? Sage is the most delusional FMC, perfect modern day influencer representation. It doesn’t feel romantic, it feels psychopathic - but I still had fun!

I really enjoyed this one! Sage completely won me over from the very beginning. She was funny, bubbly, and full of personality. As an influencer, she brought so much energy to the story, and I found myself rooting for her throughout.
Travis, on the other hand, took me a little longer to warm up to. His strict rules, schedules, and routine honestly annoyed me at first, but as the story progressed, I came to appreciate his character and enjoyed watching the dynamic between him and Sage unfold.
Overall, this was a fun, entertaining read with lovable characters and a romance that kept me turning the pages.

This was a really funny dark romance-light book.
The MMC is a serial killer; he has rules he follows, a schedule, and he is particular. The FMC accidentally shows up at his cabin and immediately "falls in love" with him.
He keeps planning to kill her, and she keeps stalking him. It is quite funny. She is so hilariously delusional about this man.
The narrators were phenomenal; they really played both the characters well!

Not even sure why I gave this book a 3? Plot would have been good except it was so obnoxious how Sage acts upon meeting Travis for the 1st time. This book was mainly about their sex scenes and how obscene they could be in them (don't get me wrong, I like a good sex scene, but DANG!!) Anyway, like I was saying the plot could of made for a good read but everything going on between these 2 sexually just overpowered the read.

Hahaha this was so good! You have someone that is a serial unaliver and someone that didn’t realize the dark side they had. Both which have an obsession for one another they didn’t know they had. She was soooo afraid flighty at first I wasn’t sure I was gonna enjoy this but the character made this book even more fun. I giggled through this! I love it when people can take this situation and make it entertaining to listen to.
The audio made it even better, duel narration, but so well done. I wish this was in duet, it would have made it a 5 star, but I’m very please with the production of this.

Okay... honestly, this was hilarious 😂 I went into this expecting a dark romance with a serial killer, but what I got was an unhinged romantic comedy where one person is planning a wedding while the other is planning a murder.
Travel influencer Sage Featherstone accidentally arrives at the wrong Airbnb cabin and meets Travis Blacksburg, an incredibly handsome billionaire who also happens to be a meticulous serial killer. Sage instantly decides she's met the love of her life. Travis instantly decides she's Victim #39 because she has the most chaotic golden retriever energy imaginable. She barges into his house, touches everything, interrupts his carefully planned schedule, talks nonstop, and absolutely refuses to leave. Meanwhile, Travis is internally debating the best way to dispose of her body while Sage is mentally picking out wedding colors. Their inner monologues had me crying with laughter.
Travis isn't just rich—he sold his tech company for billions and now spends his days exercising, eating the exact same meals, maintaining rigid routines, selecting victims, and killing people. He's completely emotionless and thrives on order. Then Sage crashes into his life like a human tornado and destroys every ounce of peace he's ever known.
After realizing she went to the wrong cabin, Sage can't stop thinking about him. She literally engineers "accidental" run-ins and basically stalks the serial killer. The irony of her stalking him instead of the other way around was one of my favorite parts. Every time Travis thought, "I need to kill her," Sage was over there kicking her feet and giggling because she thought he was mysterious. Their dynamic was absolute chaos in the best way.
Originally she only becomes his next victim because she ruined his previous murder plans, but he keeps putting it off. Not because he's suddenly grown a conscience... but because he keeps getting distracted by her. Watching this emotionally constipated serial killer slowly realize he doesn't actually want her dead—and having absolutely no idea why—was surprisingly adorable.
And then... they sleep together. Out of absolutely nowhere 😂 I genuinely laughed because the pacing caught me so off guard.
Things only get more unhinged when Sage discovers Travis really is a serial killer who's murdered dozens of people. Instead of running for her life, she's fascinated. She's honestly the final boss of the "I can fix him" trope.
The side plot with Sage's obsessive online stalker added real danger to the story. When Travis kills him and calmly walks Sage through exactly how he did it, she somehow falls even harder because she sees it as him protecting her. Peak dark romance logic, honestly.
Then Ryan enters the picture, and I did not see that twist coming. Finding out he rented Sage the cabin hoping Travis would kill her so he could finally catch him because he was obsessed with avenging the woman he'd loved was absolutely insane. It made the whole situation even messier.
What I actually appreciated was that Sage finally drew a line. Travis doesn't target only terrible people—he kills whoever is least likely to be missed. When he decides Nicole, a homeless girl, is his next victim, Sage tells him she'll never forgive him if he goes through with it. That conflict finally forced Travis to question everything he'd always believed about himself.
Of course they separate... and of course it's because of another woman. Not in a cheating way, but still 🙄 Men.
Watching Travis completely fall apart without Sage was probably my favorite part of his character development. He goes to kill Nicole, stands there ready to do it... and simply can't. Instead, he walks away and realizes the only person he wants is Sage. Their reunion at the Hoppy Festival her parents organized was sweet, ridiculous, and somehow fit the tone of this completely bonkers book perfectly.
I loved that the ending didn't magically turn Travis into a good person. Instead, they become an equally unhinged serial killer couple, with Sage scouting out genuinely horrible people—predators, offenders, and other monsters—and Travis taking care of the rest. Morally questionable? Absolutely. Entertaining? Also absolutely.
This book is ridiculous, over-the-top, completely unrealistic, and fully aware of it. If you're looking for a serious psychological thriller, this isn't it. But if you want a dark romantic comedy with black humor, a sunshine heroine who's somehow even scarier than the serial killer, a grumpy billionaire who's completely undone by one chaotic woman, and enough "what on earth am I reading?" moments to keep you laughing the entire time, you'll probably have a great time.
It definitely won't be for everyone, but I had way more fun than I expected. 4⭐

July 3, 2026I wasn't entirely sure what to expect going into Wrong Cabin, Right Time, but one thing became clear almost immediately. Sage and Travis are absolutely meant for each other...mostly because they're both equally unhinged in completely different ways. At first, I honestly found them both kind of obnoxious. Sage is chaotic sunshine with zero self-preservation skills, and Travis is a hyper-organized billionaire serial killer who schedules murder into his daily routine. Somehow, though, these two completely won me over. Their quirks stopped feeling over-the-top and started feeling weirdly endearing, and by the end I was fully invested in their delightfully ridiculous romance.
This is one of those books where you absolutely have to suspend belief. Go in expecting a good, at time ludicrous, time. Everything is exaggerated and chaotic. If you try to apply realworld logic, you'll probably spend half the book rolling your eyes. But once you embrace the absurdity, it's mostly a fun ride. The premise is outrageous, the humor is wonderfully dark, and the romance somehow manages to be both spicy and surprisingly sweet.
This one also relies on intalove, so if that's not your thing, avert your eyes lol. From the moment Sage accidentally shows up at the wrong cabin, she takes one look at Travis and decides she's basically met her future husband. Travis, on the other hand, immediately starts plotting how to make her victim number thirty nine. It's the most bizarre, one-sided meet cute imaginable. Sage's relentless optimism crashing into Travis's rigid, methodical personality creates constant chaos, and their banter only gets better as he realizes this loud, pink haired force of nature refuses to disappear from his life. As much as he would like to unalive her.
What surprised me most was that beneath all the dark comedy and over-the-top situations, there was more emotional depth than I expected. Travis never pretends to be something he's not, and watching someone as emotionally closed off as him slowly develop genuine feelings was surprisingly satisfying. Sage could have easily become too much (and yeh, at times she is), but her huge heart and unwavering belief that everyone deserves love made her impossible not to root for. Together they're chaotic, hilarious, completely dysfunctional, and somehow...they just work.
This won't be for everyone, and I'll admit at times I had mixed feelings. But again, go in for something wild and adventorous. If you like things a little unusual and outlandish, at times obxious characters, you'll enjoy. The pacing was a bit uneven, but overall the comedy and romance are well balanced, we've got a good premise with some solid twists and some suspense. And lots of spice. It's a super original idea that leans into it's ridiculousness while still taking the romance seriously enough.
The audiobook is honestly what elevated this story for me. CJ Bloom and Nelson Hobbs fully committed to these wonderfully chaotic characters, and their performances brought so much personality and humor to every scene. CJ perfectly captured Sage's sunshine energy and lovable brand of insanity, while Nelson absolutely nailed Travis's dry, meticulous, permanently annoyed personality. Their chemistry made the comedy land even better, and I genuinely think the audio is the best way to experience this story.

Their dynamic is absolutely chaotic in the best possible way with the contrast between Travis’s cold, calculated nature and Sage’s relentless optimism creating some genuinely hilarious moments, while their undeniable chemistry keeps the romance simmering beneath the madness. Sage genuinely believes she can change Travis. The only question is… will she survive long enough to succeed?
One thing I enjoyed was that Travis never tries to justify what he is. He knows he’s a serial killer, he enjoys killing, and he makes no attempt to dress it up by claiming his victims deserve it. As he says himself, he’s no Dexter - he simply likes to kill. Sage, meanwhile, has a stronger moral compass, despite her questionable life choices. Having grown up on a commune, she has an almost childlike innocence that somehow survives despite hitchhiking across the country, staying in random Airbnb, and documenting her life online for every potential weirdo to see. That said, there are definitely moments when she gives off some serious bunny-boiler vibes especially when it comes to getting what she wants, leaving me grateful Travis doesn’t own a pet rabbit!
If you enjoy dark romcoms, grumpy/sunshine, touch-her-and-die (even if he’s the one trying to kill her) serial killer romance with protagonists who are equally dangerous in completely different ways, then Wrong Cabin Right Time is one book you won’t want to miss. It’s outrageous, hilarious, surprisingly sweet, deliciously spicy, and never takes itself too seriously and sometimes that’s exactly the kind of book you need.
