Bite Me

Rate this book
Eddie

When my best friend drags me to a vampire dinner club as her wingman, I'm determined—I won't end up on the menu. No eye contact. No flirting. Definitely no biting.

Then he appears. Deadly attractive with a voice smooth like velvet, he murmurs into my ear, his lips graze my wrist, and I forget my resolve. The rush of his venom in my veins feels like falling off the world's edge. The lust consumes me, intoxicating and irreversible.

I leave in a daze. I shouldn't have succumbed so easily, and I won't come back.

Except Monday morning, I walk into work, and the vampire who ruined me is sitting in my boss's chair.

Russel

Feeding is a transaction—no names, no attachments. The older I get, the less I crave a second bite.

But Eddie changed the rules. His blood wrecks me.

I should let him go, like the hundreds before him, but I can't. He's sincere, vibrant, unforgettable… I search for him like a fool.

Then fate throws him back into my life in the cruelest way.

The most enticing man I've ever fed from is within arm's reach every day, but I'm not allowed to touch him.

Bite Me is an MM romance featuring a delectable human and his thirsty vampire boss. It contains light paranormal elements and concludes with a satisfying happily-ever-after.

Contains mature content. A complete list of content warnings can be found on the author's website.

Corporate life tings 🤝 Horny vampire sex

Me 🤝 Hoping Mac Rae whimpers a bed time story to me

Roe Horvat 🤝 Caring about asshole safety (prep, cleaning, ect) 💖

Jon Solo can FUCK ALL THE WAY off now, I've hit my limit with him in audios.
But Mac Rae carried this on his shoulders and deserves a prostate massage after this audio.
He did a great whimpery time, which therefore lead to me having a great time too.

I think I went in with no expectations, and just wanted vamp sex, but I was surpised that I enjoyed the work dynamic also???

They had great tension in the begining, a hook up, found out they'd be worker/boss dynamic, resisted eachother barely for a lil while, kinda fell inlove for no reason, hot vampire sex, more vampire sex, cumming untouched, cumming ALOT, CUM x 3, cumming quickly, cumming in pants like teenagers, biting, blood, more cumming, ya know.

I was just so happy to have a Roe book with no slick tbh.

I don't have much Roe experience, so maybe that helps with not caring too much about any flaws people be mentioning??
IDGAF, I could probably 5 star this for the fun I had.

It's been a while since I enjoyed a new book by Roe Horvat this much.
His earlier books are all time favourites I love to reread. Novellas like Naked Weekend are also among my comfort rereads by him.

This story started very strong. Russell and Eddie were perfect for each other. I loved their attraction, the intimacy, the kisses, the way the author made the blood sucking an integral part of their sex scenes.

Nearing the end I would have loved to get more interactions that weren't sex to let me see more of the relationship development.

Overall 3,75 stars rounded up, because I was happy to finally enjoy a new book by Roe Horvat again, and I can see myself rereading this when in need of a wholesome vampire love story (with lots of sex).

I had been hanging for this book as soon as I heard it announced cause it seemed like something that should be 100% up my alley, but for some reason it just didn't quite hit like I wished it could have. It certainly wasn't bad, maybe just under cooked?

The first 30% or so of this was definitely the strongest for me. I really enjoyed the premise and meet cute of the story. Eddie visits a vampire club for the first time and has a hook up with the mysterious and sexy vampire Russel. However, before he has an opportunity to go home with him, Eddies housemate shows up and drags him home and they both think they've lost the connection forever, only for Eddie to find out his new manager at the Public Relations Firm he works at is the very same mysterious, sexy vamp and suddenly theres *sexual tension* and *forbidden romance*.

I kind of found that once Russel and Eddie gave in to their attraction the tension of their chemistry kind of fizzled for me. There was plenty of spicy scenes but they just kind of felt a little bit flat and rushed (the fact that vampire venom seems to have people coming in seconds probably didn't help this perception).

I appreciated that Horvat gave a crack at a reinterpretation of some vampire lore here and some of the spins he included like the sirens and succubi/incubi lore, vampires and their relationship with the sun (them getting the inverse of Seasonal Affect Disorder made me chuckle) and how vampires and humans are coexisting species and vampires are born and not made (?). Some other parts of the lore kind of missed the mark for me, a big one being that vampires aren't immortal here and only live to be around 120, before they just kind of stop wanting blood and waste away? Like Russel is 57 to Eddies 25....and that just isn't a mystical seductive creature of the night age for me? mostly that just feels like a really big normal age gap lol. I feel like part of the fun of vampires for me is all the history they have lived through and seen when they are 100s of years old.

I had to admit to having a chuckle to myself about the fact that when the story was talking about Eddie and if he was ready for a promotion the conversation is very much "oh no, I couldn't possibly, I still need more experience". When literally every scene involving work included Eddie either taking over a meeting with clients from Russel (which in the real world would have your boss tearing strips off you), or taking the lead and running strategy meetings with clients while Russel just sat around lol. As far as I'm concerned Russel was just there for the vibes cause Eddie was literally doing all the work.

Don't get me wrong, I know this comes across as a lot of complaining but this was a perfectly fine and an easily consumable read if you're into fated mates-ish/ insta lovey vibes. I just wanted it to rock my world more and I never really fully connected with Russel and Eddies chemistry and wished I felt a little more of the passion and hunger that tends to come with books that are this close to vampire erotica. Still a solid 3.5 star read for me

My first foray into a vampire romp was sadly underwhelming. I was expecting this to really deliver and I did enjoy the tension in the start but as soon as these two actually got together their chemistry fell flat. The insta-love and boss/employee relationship just did nothing for me 😭

I liked how Eddie was referred to as ‘food’. That was probably the highlight for me, it gave me a little giggle each time.

Russel was the most disappointing vampire to ever vampire. He is a measly 57yrs old and the age gap of 25/57 made him seem like a pervy old man instead of the sexy, devious, immortal creature of the night that I was expecting.

I couldn’t bring myself to care about their work situations and found myself skimming those scenes plus the last few chapters as I lost interest entirely once it was clear things weren’t going to perk up.

Even the sex scenes, which I can normally rely on with Roe, had no real tension. Likely because the vamp venom makes them come in 3 seconds flat and then they’re done.

Do the book gods hate me because I never read Twilight in my angsty teen years? Please rec me any good vampire books!

ARC Review | 4.5⭐ Release: May 20, 2025 | MCs: Eddie&Russel

Bite Me was soft, sensual vampire goodness

This book hit so many of my buttons in the best way. A virgin MC (but not in the sexual sense—the “virgin” part is about never having been bitten!) + an older vampire who goes soft for him? Inject it directly into my bloodstream.

The vibe is lush, intimate, and low on external drama. Roe Horvat took the “feeding while fucking” trope and turned it into something tender and addictive. Every bite felt like a love confession, and every chapter (yes, they’re titled!) pulled me in deeper. The slow build from first bite to more—more trust, more want, more everything—was Roe Horvat delicious.

I’m a total “sucker” (pun intended) for vampires—the way lust blends with the need for blood, the imagery, the ache, the intimacy. Roe painted it all on the page with such vivid, sensual strokes. Biting while fucking? Chills. So, so hot. But there’s real drama in this vampiric heaven too. The forbidden edge because they work together, the way Eddie’s past still shapes how he sees himself—his trauma around his mother, abandonment, survival. And I loved all that primal vampire jealousy from Russel. That whole “you’re mine, I’m yours” energy just hits me every time.

Russel is such a fascinating vampire. I loved how “vampire facts” were sprinkled in throughout, like little folklore footnotes, but relevant to the emotional stakes. And Eddie… my baby hippo of this book. That boy was looping "i shouldn’t but I want to" the entire time and I was with him.

And here’s a delicious little fun fact about vampire tongues and spit—they heal wounds and other sensitive places. Sooooooo... expect a whole lot of very purposeful, very medicinal rimming (ahem ahem) 🔥🔥🔥🔥

While reading, I was left with a certain uncertainty about their future relationship—because there's a huge age gap and Russell ages slower, I wasn’t sure what that meant for their future. But after speaking with Roe (I’m such a pain, I know), it turns out it’s just that: an age difference. Nothing else.🫶

Bite Me gave me everything I crave in a vampire romance: emotional yearning, gorgeous intimacy, a hint of danger, and two people who really feel each other. I’ll absolutely reread it with candles lit like a little ritual.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion.

"Bite me all over. I want to burn for you.” I grazed his ass cheek with my fangs, and he moaned. “Bite me. Want to bleed for you when you fuck me.”(...)
Eddie cried out.
I sucked for a heartbeat, then let go. With my mouth parted over the open wound, I glanced into the mirror. His pupils huge, Eddie gazed at me through our reflection.
My fangs dripped with his blood, and the twin wound on his throat oozed two thin trails of red.
His Adam’s apple bobbed.
I gave him a measured thrust, then harder. His blood trickled over his collarbone. Liquid rubies. One of the rarest treasures on earth, second only to Eddie’s heart.
Heavy-lidded and with his mouth open, Eddie watched himself bleed, and I fucked him. His hard cock bobbed in the air, the tip leaking precum. His hole loved me, tightening around me, and I thought I could see his underbelly move when I pushed deep enough.
I adjusted my grip on him, smearing the blood on his torso, and Eddie let out a guttural groan.
His cock jerked, and his cum splashed through the air. I didn’t take my eyes off him as I fucked him through his orgasm. His insides clenched around me, drawing my cum out of me. The scent of his blood burned through me, and I bucked into him to the root. With bloodied hands and mouth, I clutched him to me. My everything.
Moaning wildly, he jutted his ass out, still in the throes of his climax. He stroked his chest and over his nipples until he was covered with red smears.

One of the biggest mistakes I have ever made is reading an excerpt of this book before it was published. THE PAIN!!!!! I wanted it so bad after reading the little excerpt. I should’ve known better. It was so good, and I was in love. I was so grateful to receive an ARC, and I devoured that thing.

So this book is not omegaverse, but we do have vampires, so still a win. Our human Eddie is going to this dinner club with his bestie. Basically a club where you go to get bitten by a vamp, consensually. Vampire bites are supposedly very arousing for the human, but Eddie has no plans of being a snack. Until he meets Russel. They’re both just drawn to each other. One thing leads to another and Russel bites Eddie, and it’s like his life rearranges. Eddie’s blood is the best blood he’s ever had. One drop and he’s addicted. Unfortunately, Eddie leaves before Russel can get his number. Russel looks for him all weekend without luck. Then Monday rolls around, and Russel finally sees Eddie again, as his boss at his new job. Spicy!

This was so good. Them trying to stay away from each other was so good. And when they gave in, even better. I loved both of them, and the sex scenes were top tier. I cannot wait to continue this series.

Well that was freaking wonderful!!.

*Warning-Spoilers.

Ohhhh goodness how sexy this was, much hot tension. I love a forbidden love story, but I have to laugh because this wasn't forbidden because it was a vampire/human pairing, it was because it was a boss/employee situation. How pedestrian.

"And now my new boss was the vampire whose lap I’d humped at a dinner club last Friday."

Re-read as audiobook. Absolutely need more audiobooks narrated by Mac Rae he was utter perfection.

This was good! I thought there wasn’t much involved in the overall problem of them working together. This is more about a human and vampire falling in love. Eddie worried about everything which was sort of a drag but Russel was lovely.

I liked the different take on vampires in this book. Whenever a writer can take a very used subject like this and turn it into something different I am very appreciative!

This is a fast read, I thought it was very romantic with close to no angst. The sex scenes were ok, not as hot as I expected from this author, but they fit well. Be prepared to not be squeamish about blood. There isn’t much blood play but I did think that if vampires were real then someone who faints at the site of blood could never be fed from unless they keep their eyes closed.

this was such a cutesy read.

what this book has to offer ?
- MM romance
- vampire x human

- strangers to lover's

storyline:-
In a parallel world where vampire coexists with human and human's are willingly engaging themselves with vampire's to let them bite and such their blood.

the story focuses on Eddie a human, and Russel the vampire.

one night when they randomly met eachother, and then russel spends searching for Eddie everywhere only to meet him again on his new job.

Eddie is trying to figure out life and afraid to lose his job to not get engage with his new vampire boss he's now liking a lot.

one thing lead to another and both MM'c can't stop themselves from falling for eachother.

my pov :-
I really like the idea of this plot, the whole concept was very new, although it lacked few things for example the employee case was not really entertaining, also Eddie mother apperance doesn't make much sense in this story. for the last part it seemed like 80% smut and 20% story only.

so this was a fun one time read to me.
but I'm impressed by the creativity of storyline, wish I could mention anything which left a mark on me but sadly I've nothing to say.

everything in this book happens so fast, like even if you wanted a plot twist there was nothing unpredictable about it. which makes it a 2 star read to me.

⭐️ 2/5 🌶️ 2.5/5 — Insufferable HR seminar and swamp of ethical BS with the emotional payoff of cold soup.

You know that feeling when everything should hit but instead you're just sittin’ there like, “the fuck is this??” Yeah. That’s this book. It had all the ingredients: Human x Vampire? ✔️ Workplace tension? ✔️ Written by my fave Roe Horvat? ✔️ But then it just flatlines like a goddamn ECG with no pulse. ☠️

I can’t believe I’m rating a Roe Horvat book this low—but fuck me, here we are. Ninth book in and I thought this author could do no wrong. I was drooling over the blurb, practically vibrating at the idea of Roe doing paranormal MM with a human x vampire workplace forbidden dynamic. But then... the story face-planted straight into a swamp of ethical hand-wringing and stiff-ass restraint. 😵😵‍💫

I was hyped as hell after the blurb—salivating, even. First half of the book? All longing, zero payoff. Like, I love me a slow burn, but this was a molasses-paced emotional edging with zero fuckin’ lube. And not the fun kind. 🙄

Sure, there was that “finally” moment when Eddie and Russel do something about their lust at 48%, but even that felt like a whisper instead of a scream. Roe usually delivers sex scenes like love letters on fire—but in Bite Me? It was meh. It didn’t hit. I wanted yearning and vulnerability laced in the sex, but this was more “I guess we’re doing this now.” 😐

When Eddie and Russel finally gave in at the halfway point, I thought, “finally, we're cookin’”—but nope. They smashed, sure, but the emotional connection? Still stuck in a swamp of self-restraint and cold detachment. 😮‍💨

And Eddie… Eddie. Babe, I wanted to love you, but by the 81% mark I was ready to chuck you into the sun. Russel’s out here dying for a scrap of affection and you’re still playing it cool like your heart ain't on fire too? Russel was basically bleeding love and I was screaming alongside him. And Eddie? Still tiptoeing around like affection was a fuckin’ crime. Bruh. I'm a soft baby girl—gimme cuddles, gimme gooey stares, not this emotionally constipated dance of doom. 💔

Quote:
“I hoped Eddie appreciated my effort because I was screaming on the inside.” —Russel

Same, Russel. SAME. This book felt like an emotional edging with a sandpaper glove. Look, I like the chase. But sprinkle me some softness, drop those crumbs of affection, show me want, not cold detachment in a dim office with the blinds closed. Don’t starve me then hand me one cold-ass french fry like it’s a fuckin’ feast. Tsk. 😫😤

I was rooting for them, I was begging for the tenderness to finally crack through—but by the time it did? Too little, too late. The emotional fog never lifted. That end? A limp drizzle after dragging me through a thunderstorm of withheld affection. Where’s the fireworks, bitch? Where’s the love-drenched “fuck it all” moment?? 😶‍🌫️🌫⚰️

This whole book was a thunderstorm of repression with a weak-ass drizzle of warmth at the very end. Ninety-fuckin'-percent suffering, then a sad little crumb of HFN? Nah, the fuck it won’t do. That’s not a payoff, that’s emotional blue balls. 😠

If you like your romance with self-restraint, loaded silences, and barely-there affection until the last few pages, go for it. But for this soft, needy, hopeless romantic with a high-stakes swoon addiction? This was pure suffering. If you’re looking for longing with payoff, teasing with action, tension with heat—this ain’t it. This is a vampire book with no bite, just... bite marks on my patience. 🥴🫠

Dnf and not reviewing. Book contains dubcon which is not mentioned in TW. (Spoilers probably below- but description of dubcon)

I’m fine with dubcon as long as it’s in the TW/CW- and this wasn’t. Eddie says right before he feeds Russel he doesn’t want the feeding to be sexual.. and then when Eddie gets aroused, as it happens in the lore of this book when someone feeds, Russel gives him head. Even though Eddie said he didn’t want it to be sexual. And afterwards Russel apologizes but Eddie says it was both their fault.. when clearly that’s not the case

Russel + Eddie 🖤
Vampire and human | Boss and employee | Desperation | Jealousy

Loved Eddie and Russel and the feralness of it all.
Eddie's first time feeding a vampire.
Russel, who knew instantly that he'd never be the same after that first bite.
Roe knows how to write the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. So even if parts end up being a miss for me it makes me want to keep reading his work.

The loss of star is because I felt like there was a lot of focus on their jobs and clients.
Which like who cares. It offered nothing to the book. Seemed to raise more questions than answers. I get that it was supposed to be the plot, but it didn't go deep enough to feel like there was a point to it. That part just didn't work for me.

⚠️potential spoilers below in detailed tropes/content and trigger warning lists

Tropes/content:
Vampire & human
Vampire feeds on human
Eddie's first time feeding a vampire
Both 💦 in pants at different times
"Sweetheart"
Hot as hell first feeding
Boss + employee
Jealousy
Desperation
Office blow jobs + frotting
"Show me your hole"
Sneaking around
💦 cleaning + eating
Only wants to feed from him, cant even get his fangs to drop around anyone else
Venom healing rimming 😏
Kissing it 🍑 better
Save a horse ride a vampire
Russel resigns from his job, so Eddie doesn't lose everything he's worked for and deserves
He cooks for him all the time even when he doesn't eat normal food himself
Eddie has Russel leave a permanent bite on him to mark him - doesn't let him lick it closed.
Ass and crease bites
Russels first time having sex without biting involved
They dont feed or have sex with anyone else after their first feeding
Strict roles

TWs:
Some things that teeter the line of coercion in my opinion (others may consider it seduction, idk)
Eddie's mom is incarcerated. She's also emotionally abusive to him. He visits her every couple weeks, where he leaves emotionally drained and upset.
Russels mom hits on Eddie before either of them knew who the other was. Eddie has zero interest.

Dragged to a dinner club by his best friend, Eddie has no idea how drastically his life is about to change.

After being ditched by his bestie, Eddie meets Russel, a handsome vampire who he has an instant connection with. He’s never been bitten by a vampire before, but something about Russel has him anxious to find out what it’s like.

The pair share a heated moment at the club, but Eddie dips before Russel can get his number. Russel spends all weekend trying to find him, until he runs into Eddie unexpectedly. At his new job. Where he’s now Eddie’s boss.

Watching Russel and Eddie do their best to stay professional but unable to fight the connection between them was 👌🏻 Such a quick and steamy read!

3.5 stars! I have read only a few “vampire “ books; so this was an interesting take on the genre.. more erotica than plot, but I enjoyed it. Would have loved a little more depth in their back stories rather than excerpts from some vampire book.. 🙄 But whatever, I skipped those parts mostly.

Russel is a jaded vampire who’s all but given up on feeding regularly and finding a partner. That is, until he meets Eddie at a vampire ‘dinner club’. Their fiery encounter leaves both of them swooning.

It seems like it’s only going to be a one time thing, until Eddie realizes that his new manager is actually Russell. This book is extremely spicy, and the blood drinking scenes are definitely swoony. I love a good vampire romance, and this one was really fun!

This book dealt with the fact that Russell and Eddie were both unsure of what the other person wanted, but neither of them ever treated the other one poorly. They were both so good to each other. The forbidden romance aspect of this was also really fun, as you can imagine since they share a workplace, there are some questionable activities in the office. ;-)

This book was short and fun. It lost a little bit of steam at the end, but it was a really happy ending, so I was very satisfied. Definitely read if you like romance that has a sexy vampire in it.

Pretty sure that there isn't anything that Roe can't write lol - another winner for me!

I love Roe's take on vampires - their bite and saliva contains a venom, one that is a major aphrodisiac for the human once bitten.

If you're a fan of boss/employee and workplace romance, and want to throw vampires into the mix? Then you need to grab this.

As with Roe's books, there is high heat, instant chemistry, a quick burn to love, and romance you will love. I really loved Eddie and Russel - I loved the blend of vampirism with a contemporary trope of workplace romance, I thought it was unique!

And I really loved Russel and his devotion and complete adoration of Eddie. This is pretty steamy, but it's also very sweet. I'd love to learn more about vampires - can a human be turned into one?

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

What to expect:
📍Vampire x human
📍Age gap
📍Boss x employee
📍Slow burn
📍Soulmates
📍Blood play
📍Biting

I loved this book! Huge thanks to Roe for having me on the ARC team—I never take these opportunities for granted, and this one was a total banger for me. Somehow, it was exactly what I wanted without even knowing it.

Okay, full disclosure: I’m not the biggest vampire lover, and I’m usually skeptical about modern fantasy like this… but wow, did I enjoy it! Every detail was so well thought out without overpowering the story. And the vampires? Refreshingly different from anything I’ve read before. (Though I still don’t get the wine thing—what’s the deal, huh? If vampires can’t eat or drink anything but blood, but wine is fine… does that mean they can also do shots? Grape juice? 😂 Ignore me, I’m overthinking.)

As expected from Roe, the couple had real chemistry—so hot! 🔥 Not as kinky as some of his other books (quite vanilla, if you ignore the whole blood kink situation), but still spicy and so enjoyable.

Both characters were lovable, but my Daddy Vampire? Oh no. He was in a league of his own. The greenest flag ever! You’ll have to read to understand.

I also loved how the plot was light and uncomplicated—very character-driven, with no unnecessary drama (even when the ingredients were right there). Roe has a way of avoiding tired romance stereotypes and just letting the couple be, and I’m here for it.

So if you’re looking for something sweet, slow-burning(ish), with a side of spice and a refreshing twist? Bite Me is a perfect choice.
