DEMONS HAVE INFECTED THE CITY. ORION CUSSLER IS THE CURE.
Chaos reigns in the streets as demonic attacks escalate daily. With the official sorcerers proving useless, the city's last hope rests on a lone Orion Cussler.
Armed with his custom-built spell gun, Orion walks the razor's edge between humanity and total damnation. But saving the city's soul is complicated when he's being hunted by both the police and the powerful Magnus Corp.
He'll have to rely on a sharp-witted scientist and a beautiful, cynical cop to survive the night. Can Orion outrun his past long enough to save the city's future?
I made it 30 pages (to the end of chapter 1) before I DNF this book. I got whiplash from all the PoV changes in that one chapter.
It starts with a middle school teacher, then a middle school student that is apparently a "half-breed" (not really explained), then the principal, then the boy again, then a female cop, her boss, some sorcerer from the "Magnus Corp." that should have handled the demon, then finally the MC. That's a heck of a lot of PoVs for 30 pages. And I found I didn't care about any of them.
The words used, the manner the characters behaved, all fell flat. They were all cardboard cutouts.
This is the third time I've tried a book where Dan Raxor was the first listed author. And it's the third time I've felt malaise after reading parts of them. I think I may have to rethink trying their books.
