I don't know if I'm just "weak" today but this thing damn near made me sick.

It's a quick extreme horror read and it's bleak and on the weird side. The vibes were immaculate too.

I hope that by learning my unique methods, you will be able to let go of the things you no longer need, and that this will bring great peace to the eternal flower of your soul.

This was a totally unique and original take on body horror.

Imagine you just bought a self-help DVD from your favorite transcendent minimalist lifestyle coach.

You’re beyond excited to get some exclusive tips and tricks.

But then, yeah.

The advice is absolutely vile.

Noriko Ōno really is the definition of “just get rid of it.”

This is a brilliant, short splatterpunk story, oozing insanity and sickness. It's incredibly well-done, the writing clear and precise, and the imagery disturbing enough to keep even the most hardened extreme horror fan pleased and alert throughout. The ending won't really surprise anyone, but it certainly satisfies.

So what's it about? Well, it's very short, about 30 pages, so I can't say much without spoiling it. Let's say that it explores, through the video transcript format, the mindset of a successful life-coacher, from a truly worrisome viewpoint. There's some truth that seeking absolute peace, integrity, and balance is the aim of all therapeutic approaches to living a well-structured and comfortably organized life; when it comes to defining what might work as a systematic way to achieve this, opinions and methods vary, but one thing is certain: cluttering your life with unnecessary things (or persons) is one big no-no. Can't afford a life-organizer of your own? No prob; pick up a life-coaching lecture on DVD, put it in, and watch and learn.

This is probably not the DVD course you should pick up, but if you enjoy hard hitting extreme horror with a message, stories that not only upset your stomach but also make you think a bit about the point of it all, this small gem is perfect. I loved it!

An Oriental wife and mother has embraced a minimalist philosophy that carries her existential theories to an extreme conclusion, namely that all external stimuli are noxious, dangerous,or even evil. This results in her recording her philosophy and the steps to becoming an "Eternal Flower Of Your Soul". She is recording every step to full realization to DVD. The discs will reach the masses. She has become ensnared in a dangerous circular argument that is invalid. Her belief system will prove to be a fatal attraction. The author writes an intriguing splatterpunk tale which is haunting in its own heartbreaking way because the House always wins in this story and all players lose. Kinion writes sharp incisive prose but with a descriptive flair which finishes the violent scenes he paints with his words. Extreme horror is on full display but is not gratuitous. It is nevertheless bloody, gory, shocking, sickening, and saturates the narrative. He writing style is smooth yet confident. I really liked it.

Klaus if this is an example of Splatterpunk you can be expected to write, bring it on! Count me as a fan.

All aboard the craaaazy train!
Okay, this was... SOMETHING.

Picture this 💭:

You buy a highly sought-after DVD in hopes it will help you declutter your house, your life, your whole “Bless This Mess” cringe-y slogan era.

You pop it in, and at first, you’re sitting there nodding along and relating to your host. Then things take a strange turn.

“Did she just say what I think she said?”

And suddenly it goes from 0 to 100 real quick. You want to look away, but you can’t. You WON’T, because what in the actual F.

Clocking in at only 41 pages, this little extreme horror novella delivered insane visuals and gore. I felt like I speed read it because I literally couldn’t “look away.”

If, for whatever reason, I was asked to pair a candy with this book, it would be Gushers. Take that as you will. 🤣 You're welcome 🖤

Would I recommend it?
Yes. Obviously not to everyone, because please be serious.
But for anyone in the mood for a bite-sized extreme horror story that’s nasty & fully off the rails, this one does not waste your time.

⚠️ This is extreme horror and should be treated as such. Read responsibly. Not for the faint of heart or the squeamish.

Many, many thanks to the author for sending a copy my way!

WOW!! WOW!!! WOW!!!!

This is Kinion's DEBUT!!

I absolutely cannot wait to see what Klaus brings to the table next. I can see why this has been receiving so much high praise, it was incredible! Unhinged! Brutal! Insane! Just brilliant! I absolutely loved it!

In an attempt to become her one true self, to find peace with the eternal flower of her soul, we see a quietly insane woman, sinister, disturbing in her pleasantness, do what she believes is necessary. Whatever and however that may be. Such a strong character, you're completely invested in her in such a short period of time.

It's a quick one sitting read, (if it had been 400 pages, I wouldn't have been able to put it down for a second), with a serene, surreal and eerie feel to it from the outset.

It rapidly takes a deeply disturbing turn, like a horrifically gory car crash that you can't take your eyes off. Completely gripping and bone chilling!
This story had me squirming and wincing....a lot! And I consider myself pretty unflappable!

It's very graphic, with great visual descriptions, and a super slick narrative. Gnarly as hell it will have you on the edge of your seat, with your jaw on the floor!

"If it does not bring great peace to the eternal flower of your soul; discard it!” 💚

"If it doesn’t bring great peace to the eternal flower of your soul… throw it in the trash."

Unless it’s this book. You have to keep this book.

I, personally, hate to admit it, but yes, my desk is full of clutter, and yes, I'm a hoarder. It's not an extreme over the top hoader or a person that has a lot of clutter, but still, I hoard... but after reading this novella, it makes me want to just get rid of the things i don't need in my life so that I can achieve the level of serenity that our MFC Noriko Ōno speaks of in her self help videos.

I have NEVER BEEN MORE INSPIRED OR HORRIFIED to take a few pointers from Noriko, and at a whopping 30 pages, i immediately needed MORE

Klaus is an absolute madman and an absolute genius for sending me this novella. At just 30 pages, Eternal Flower of Your Soul took my love of the self-help genre, grabbed it by my innards, and bathing them in blood.

You will be immensely surprised because this isn’t just a horror story.

It's a HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE involving minimalism, turning it into something spiritual and beautiful? (You probably won't think so once you have a chance to read it) and if I'm being truly honest, this has got to be HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE GREATEST things ever to be written in the world of splattepunk.

It is DISTURBING. It is CLEVER. It is BEAUTIFUL, in its own weird way, and COMPLETELY UNHINGED (so check trigger warnings ⚠️)

My FINAL THOUGHTS?
Declutter your life. Keep this book.
It will spark PEACE, but at the same time, trauma, that is IRREVERSIBLE!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and well done for such an incredible debut novella! Sign me up for more of this Klaus!

I’ve said it once & I’ll say it again. I love all the new talent that is popping up in the splatterpunk/EH genre & I am constantly wowed at what they have to offer. Klaus Kinion is another prime example. From just the opening of the book premise for Eternal Flower of the Soul, I already KNEW I needed it. The cover, done by him as well, also deserves ALL the accolades. THIS is how you do a debut. Short, sweet, nasty, visceral, harrowing, yet still…wholesome?-ish? Kinda? As if I’m able to differentiate between what’s “hinged” & not. 😅

Quick Synopsis:
Noriko has life all figured out. To the point that she wants to share her life minimalist philosophies with everyone. In a world that has too much, why not make some sacrifices? Who knows what benefits you may gain with less. What freedoms you may attain just by unburdening yourself of dead weight? Follow along while Noriko explains her tranquility-seeking program & demonstrates it in painstaking detail.

This was a home run for me, but I am admittedly biased. I read that *other* “art of throwing all your shit away” book in a day & legit emptied out half of my house. I still miss my beanie babies tho; mistakes were made. 🥹 This was a quick concise novella that slices to the white meat & was unrelenting from the giddyup. I normally am a fan of girth (pause) in my stories, but this one delivered in the perfect little succinct package that sparked infinite, agonizing joy for me. I actually was a bit nervous how the author could pull off such a UNO Reverse on us, but he 👏🏽 did 👏🏽 that. It was equal parts beautiful, fucked-up, mesmerizing, disturbing, & doomed from its inception. A creative endeavor & a very neat, well organized debut that ATE. Left no clutter nor crumbs. Very much looking forward to whatever Klaus has up his sleeve in the near future!

I love when gore / horror is nonchalant, there’s no rhyme or reason it just happens because it happens and this book was the most disgusting perfect example of that.

Bought this because the cover was cool did not expect it to be a Marie Kondo lost episode pasta lol. Enjoyed it tho!! Very viscerally written which idk a lot of splatterpunk stuff can feel detached about its mutilation. 93.7% chance that this author had watched splatter naked blood….

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5 rounded up to 5)

This book felt like discovering a cursed self-help DVD on a random shelf in one of those small town thrift stores so you randomly buy it because it looks really weird and you press play.

Eternal Flower of Your Soul is presented entirely as the transcript of an instructional DVD hosted by a minimalist home organizer promising viewers peace, clarity, and “the eternal flower of your soul.” From the very beginning, there’s something very wrong beneath the calm, polished presentation. The protagonist casually discards her husband’s medication as “clutter,” recounts disturbing childhood incidents with total emotional detachment, and slowly spirals into increasingly grotesque acts of self-mutilation under the guise of self-improvement and organization.

What makes this novella work so well isn’t just the gore, although it absolutely delivers on graphic, visceral body horror. It’s the contrast between the cheerful instructional tone and the escalating brutality that makes the entire reading experience feel surreal, darkly funny, and genuinely unnerving. The formatting is incredibly immersive featuring music cues, instructional pauses and “follow along at home” moments. It truly feels like you’re watching a cursed VHS self-help tape deteriorate in real time.

I also appreciated that underneath all the blood and absurdity there’s a satirical edge poking at toxic self-help culture and the obsession with “purging” parts of ourselves to achieve some impossible ideal of peace or purity.

This felt less like traditional splatterpunk and more like weird-girl horror filtered through experimental body horror and nightmare logic. Disturbing, bizarre, funny, nauseating, and incredibly memorable for only 40 pages.

Definitely not for the squeamish, but if you enjoy experimental horror, transgressive fiction, or horror that feels like a fever dream recorded onto a cursed tape, this is absolutely worth picking up.

The author very kindly sent me a copy of this book.
Very cleverly written, we witness the FMCs descent into madness which is both sad and grotesque. It reminded me very much of the transcendence aspect of films like Martyrs, where the character has to go through unadulterated pain to reach bliss and a higher state of being.
A very strong debut from this author.

So, I'd been hearing a lot of good stuff about this one with very little information or idea as to the full content. I wanted to keep it fresh for when I could get around to consuming it, and good grief, was I not ready for what I was about to read.

The introduction, and even the cover art gave me a false sense security to the insane, disturbing mayhem that was to unfold. EFOYS goes from 0 to 100, fast. The low page count certainly does not short-change the reader as this is one relentlessly graphic ride that will leave you reeling. Presented as the transcript of a self-help DVD, this unique formatting and storytelling brings the reader up close to the body-horror in a devastatingly profound manner. Once the carnage starts, you can't look away, and the short read time doesn't exactly let you. This goes hardcore in the most disarming way possible, retaining a sense of philosophical insight and musing while delivering an absolute torrent of visceral imagery. Kinion's talent for descriptive writing is both impressive and unsettling, as the literary painting throughout EFOYS does not hold back. Seriously impressed with this one and especially how so much is crafted and constructed in such a short time. This is my first foray into Kinion's writing, and you can bet I'm now seriously wanting to read some more! Grisly stuff!

Nightmare-fuel in 40 pages or less.

A brutal and unique take on the genre that needs to be experienced to understand. Having read multiple splatterpunk novelettes in the past, this one has a charm and undercurrent of ideas that run farther than just being "gross or shocking for the sake of it".

The author's talent extends beyond the pages as he is also the illustrator for the cover and inner drawings. With a start like this, Klaus Kinion has a long and successful career ahead of him, and we will all be able to reap the benefits.

My only negative feelings came from the way the husband was handled at the end. As a medical professional it felt very... convenient. That said, it is a small blemish on an otherwise uncharacteristically great debut for the genre.

4.5/5 stars, rounded up for the cover art alone.

Wow… That’s how you make a splatterpunk debut. What the hell did I just read? 😵‍💫 This is the perfect palate cleanser…if 40 pages of deeply cringe-inducing, absolutely disgusting gore can somehow count as one. YUCK.🤮🥴 It was grotesque, unhinged, and weirdly entertaining the whole way through. My eternal flower of a soul is oddly at peace. 5 stars. *barfs profusely*

Noriko is a minimalist and she has released to the world a new philosophy to help you become pure inside and out. Watching this dvd you will learn to be very organized, that means discarding anything around or on your body that will not ultimately bring you peace. Wow what a great debut! This story got brutal real quick and I loved it so much.

If you’re in the mood for Japanese horror that’s truly sick, gory, and borderline vomit-inducing - think along the lines of Three Extremes, Naked Blood, or Women's Flesh: My Red Guts - this is a novelette for you!

The story follows Noriko Ōno, a renowned minimalist tidying guru, as she guides viewers through her philosophy of extreme, transcendent minimalism via an exclusive step-by-step video. What unfolds is a brutal, visceral descent toward “pure tranquility” that feels almost physically painful to read. I caught myself wincing, cringing, and imagining every sensation. The gore is so intimate and meticulously detailed that I was practically clutching myself, yet I couldn’t look away!!

At just 47 pages, I devoured it within an hour and already craving more by Kinion. It’s well written, vividly grotesque, and completely gripping. There’s something oddly compelling, even a little charming, about Ōno’s twisted perspective, despite the horror of her journey.

If you’re craving a short but savage splatterpunk fix, or feeling brave enough to explore your own version of “tranquility”, this one is worth picking up. Just be sure to keep a pair of pruning shears nearby, in case you’re ready to tend to the eternal flower of your soul! 🥀 ✂️

Many thanks to the author for an e-book of Eternal Flower of the Soul.

Beautifully, poetically mad. There is no real plot or character development, it's just a snapshot of a mental breakdown, yet it manages to be totally captivating and compelling.
