In Full of Grace and Truth, Professor Solberg has done a masterful job of both encapsulating the true meaning of Christmas and moving his readers to respond in faith. With beautiful artistry he blends scripture, his own words, traditional Christmas carols, and quotes from Christian theologians from numerous times and traditions. Quoting everyone from John Chrysostom to the Grinch he wonderfully conveys both the doctrine and mystery of how this little baby in a manger can be the one who made heaven and earth born to save us from our sins. This book will enrich your celebration of Christmas and move you to proclaim the mystery of what you have seen and heard.

Amongst the coming busyness of the Christmas season comes this treasure of a Christmas book. It bids you to pause amidst the trappings of our holiday wrappings and unwrap the most precious gift of salvation through the incarnation of our savior Jesus. Solberg masterfully weaves scripture references and prose with timeless carols in order to paint a picture of the redemption plan God had from the very beginning. He shows how prophecy points to the coming Messiah in the Old Testament and is fulfilled in Jesus. He further shows why Christians can celebrate Christmas by debunking some of the common criticisms of pagan origins, but also by making positive claims for our need to celebrate this unique moment in history where all of creation cried with joy.

This beautiful book is easy to read and would make a wonderful family advent read aloud. It will renew your sense of awe and wonder that the God of the universe stepped into our world a lowly babe in the most humble of cradles. I heartily recommend making this book one of your family's holiday traditions.

Solberg doesn’t just repeat familiar stories or traditions — he digs deep into Scripture and shows what really stands at the center of it all: the Word becoming flesh, what he beautifully calls “the divine invasion.” The Author Himself steps into the story.

I loved how he blends history, theology, and practical insight in a way that’s both clear and heartfelt. Reading this book helped me see Advent and Christmas with fresh eyes and reminded me again of the wonder of the Creator entering His creation.

If you’re looking for something that will deepen your faith and help you experience Christmas beyond the surface level, this book is a true gift.

R.L. Solberg has beautifully woven together the foundational truths of the Gospel message into understanding the historical promises and fulfillments of God surrounding the Incarnation of Christ. This book biblically covers many of the questions a Christian should ask about celebrating Christmas and answers them with honesty. I love the practical applications suggested for reaching others with the Gospel during a widely accepted season. I feel encouraged, informed, and ready to focus on Christmas with even more worship, witness, and wonder! I highly recommend this book for believers to read and gift to their loved ones. I also recommend this book to unbelievers looking for more answers about Jesus.

Full of Grace and Truth is far more that a holiday read, it's an invitation to rediscover the biblical roots of the Christmas story. Mr. Solberg traces a crimson thread through the Scriptures, form the prophecy in the garden to the covenants with Abraham and David, reveling that the birth of Jesus was not a random event but the center point in human history. It clears the confusion around Christmas with an apologetic response that thoroughly but gently dismantles the false claims that Christmas is a pagan holiday. After reading it I have clarity, confidence and joy to celebrate the Incarnation.

Encouraging Biblical approaches to Christmas

The author writes in an easily followed format. He writes about Christmas stringing valuable quotations from saints both new and old, historical information, theological ideas and themes and concludes the book with great encouragement to celebrate with both reverence and great joy. He includes the lyrics of many of the traditional carols as part of the book. I enjoyed reading it.

CHRISTMAS IS TO WORSHIP

R. L. Solberg has written an excellent book that should be read and applied during the Advent season. As Americans, we that are Christians in this country sometimes get caught up in the festivities and neglect the SAVIOR, LORD, and KING that stepped out of the splendor of Heaven and became a man that HE could become the PERFECT LAMB and PERFECT SACRIFICE for our sins and the wrath of GOD that we deserve! Hallelujah, what a SAVIOR!!

This has truly given me a new appreciation for the Incarnation, how amazing it is that Christ came as a baby, and why this season deserves celebration. Solberg also digs into why the roots of Christmad are NOT pagan and why our traditions are not bad, as long as we don't lose sight of the actual focus of Christmas.. the Christ child, God sent to walk among and redeem lost mankind. Highly recommend rereading this every year before Christmas.

This book is one of the best books that I have read about Christmas!!!
Solberg does an excellent job of taking the reader on an adventure from Genesis to the gospels and beyond to see our savior throughout our whole Bible.
Beautifully written and heartwarming with the words of old Christmas hymns at the end to leave us with a sense of awe for our saviors birth✨️

This was, for me, a simple walk through the basics of the incarnation rather than anything fresh. It didn’t particularly move me or offer new insight, but it did call me back to the simple, solid truths at the heart of Christmas. In a busy season, I was reminded that returning to the foundations of who Jesus is and why He came, which is never a waste.
