Conjuring Love

Rate this book
Celine would rather curl up with a good book than go on the blind dates arranged by her meddling mother. She prefers fictional men to the warlocks in her magical realm. And the only friend she needs is her familiar, a sassy dragon. When her mother plays matchmaker for the upcoming Solstice ball, Celine finally takes matters into her own hands. Casting an unusual spell, she summons the perfect boyfriend…right from the pages of her favorite book. Of course, all magic comes at a cost—something Celine fails to consider when she conjures the love of her life.

One minute, Henry is riding his horse in the countryside. The next minute, he’s standing in a strange room with a beautiful woman. He’s instantly drawn to her, and any fears he has about the sudden change in location are shoved aside. Marveled by the little witch and the wonders of her realm, his old life is soon forgotten. The only place he wants to be is under her spell. But if the magic keeping him there wears thin, his new life—and love—could be erased forever.

This book was sooooo good! If you like a quick insta lust with a cute love story, this is the story for you!

Henry was basically perfection and he treated Celine with so much love and affection. I quickly devoured their love story.

It was unexplainably entertaining to me that the to the witch, her perfect man was a human, where we (book readers) would almost always choose a man with some sort of magic (preferably shadow magic) over a human as our definition of "perfect."

I loved the explanation of things in the prologue that give an understanding of the different realms and why things are the way they are.

Also, no spoilers, but the end was the best possible ending for this story. Everything about it was basically perfection.

Extra appreciation note for Kress because we love a sassy little dragon.

A fun, spicy, witchy novella!

Celine (FMC) is an introverted, bookworm, who also happens to be a virgin witch. She’s loveable and funny and I liked her character. She’s sick of her mam trying to match make her so she uses a spell to conjure a boyfriend from her favourite book. What could go wrong?
I loved this idea and it immediately got me thinking about who I would want to conjure up.

Henry (MMC) is full of touch her and die vibes. He’s eager to please her in every possible way and can’t get enough.
If you like insta love and possessive men then Henry is your man.

One of my favourite parts of the book is Celine’s sassy familiar Kress. I loved her and wish we had familiars!

This story is nice and spicy throughout but nothing overly explicit 3/5 🌶️

Overall this was a fun quick read that I enjoyed so I’m rating it 4/5 ⭐️.
A couple of things kept it from being a full 5 stars. I wasn’t a fan of her parents, they seemed a little too creepy and interested in her sex life for my tastes. I also had questions left unanswered about Henry’s future as a human in Celine’s world.

This book was so uniquely different in the best way. It gave such an unexpected twist on paranormal romance (especially for someone who hasn’t read many paranormal books!) and I loved every second of it. The spice was spicing, and watching Henry and Celine navigate their new relationship was so much fun. Absolutely a must-read for this cozy fall season!

Solid 4.5 ⭐️ Read 2.5 🌶️ Level

For being a debute novella, WOW! This novella, in my humble opinion, brought the story to life in my mind with its storyline. It put me in a cute little witchy romance bubble that I did not want to leave, and even left me n wanting more stories. I even reached out to author asking her so.

This short story has all the elements of a feel good witch story, perfect for the season or any season really, perfect amounts of spice that adds to the story, pulls your heart strings, and then leaves you with a happy ending.

For me it has all the elements of a perfect book that you can devour in a couple of hours at anytime of the day or night.

This is a must read. Pick it up. I truly hope to read more from Renee Anthony ❤️‍🔥

Completely Enchanted by This Story!
Conjuring Love by Renee Anthony was pure magic from start to finish. I honestly didn’t expect to get so swept up in this book, but once I started, I couldn’t put it down. The mix of love, passion, and just the right touch of magic gave me all the feels.
The characters felt so real—flawed, vulnerable, and full of heart. I connected deeply with their struggles and how love wasn’t portrayed as perfect, but powerful and healing. The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts, and every page seemed to pulse with emotion and tension.
Renee Anthony’s writing is so vivid and lyrical that it felt like I was right there, experiencing every heartbreak, every spark, and every spell. The story had this haunting beauty to it that lingered with me long after I finished.
If you love stories that make your heart ache one minute and soar the next, Conjuring Love is the book for you. It’s romantic, emotional, and completely unforgettable.

I received this as an ARC copy and this is my honest review.

This is a great quick read that hits all the marks. You get the perfect man, instant lust, a great love story with banter, and a sassy dragon! What more could you ask for?

Celine and Henry’s actual story is very real feeling, at least for me. The banter between them and then add in the banter between Celine and Kress the sassy dragon *chef kiss*.

This would be a good book for someone to dip their toes into the world of magic. The terminology and explanation is more reader friendly compared to others. Cannot recommend enough! Add to the TBR of quick (but fulfilling) reads.

Excited to see what other stories Renee brings to life for us!

What a debut novella this is!

This short (103 page) & spicy novella is just perfect.

Celine is a witch & lives with her familiar, Kress, who is a small but super sassy dragon. Celine is a bit of a homebody, prefers to stay home & read (wouldn’t we all!). So when Kress taunts her & says she can’t make the perfect man magically appear, Celine gets an idea!

After finding a spell, she attempts to make her favourite book boyfriend appear - & appear he does. Naked. In the middle of her room.

Poor Henry wakes, confused at his surroundings & lack of clothing 😂 Very difficult circumstances considering he’s completed enamoured by the witch standing in front of him!

What follows is a whirlwind of a relationship, with Henry completely winning over Celine’s parents. He’s only for her, he’s growly & possessive & it’s swoon worthy. But when Henry begins to fade away, can Celine connection back into her life?

This is a super fun novella that you absolutely won’t regret reading. Brilliant debut!

Celine is tired of having her mother play matchmaker. She would rather stay at home with her dragon and a good book.

Conjuring Love is such a cute story about a witch that makes her favorite book boyfriend magically appear. Don’t we all wish we could do that?! 😅 Real life Henry is even better than in the pages!

This novella is just over a hundred pages of magic and spice. 🔥

This is an adorable, very fast paced novella about a witch conjuring up the love of her life.
It gets spicy pretty early on.

Celeste is my spirit animal of just wanting to be left alone to read. 😂

Henry is very much the epitome of “touch her and die” men.

Celeste and Henry’s relationship is adorable, and I loved getting to read from each of their point of view. I did not necessarily love the change of POV multiple times in a chapter. That’s my personally preference though.

If you are/were a fanfiction reader then you will love this book. I cannot explain why or how but you know what I’m talking about if you’ve read fanfiction. It’s definitely not a negative as I still love fanfiction to this day.

The only personal negatives I found in this book were it was a bit too fast paced with a need for a little more embellishments and the frequency of POV switching in chapters.

Conjuring Love is a cute and spicy novella.

FMC Celine needs a date for the Solstice Ball, so she decides who better than her favorite fictional hero from the book she has read hundreds of times. She finds a spell to make him come to life, and it works! MMC Henry shows up right inside her spell room...naked. Henry is a bit confused since he had been riding his horse a minute ago, and why is he naked? He spots Celine, and immediately forgets his troubles, instantly attracted to her. As Celine and Henry get to know each other...Celine does not realize that this spell may not last.

This book is short, sweet, and full of insta-lust. It doesn't take Henry more than a handful of minutes to decide he wants Celine, and Celine has no objections. They spend quite a lot of time in bed together, and Celine is happier than she ever thought she could be. Her small dragon familiar, Kress, is a little less excited by the constant noises now coming from Celine's bedroom. Kress is such a fun and sassy dragon though, and adds humor to the story. Henry has to get used to being in a magical world, since he came from one that had no magic. This is also tricky as Celine has to glamour Henry to appear to be a warlock, since humans are forbidden. As the two get closer, how long will this spell truly last? Will Henry and Celine be able to stay together, or forever be separated by a book and reality? You will have to read to see how this story ends!

Some fav quotes:
"If only she knew my perfect idea of a man was fictional. All the warlock's my mother had set me up on blind dates with were sorely lacking in every department. I kept comparing them to Henry, a man I could only be with in my imagination."

"What in the world happened to me? One minute I was riding my horse on a dirt road toward the upcoming town. Then next moment, I was lying on a hard floor, with the most beautiful woman I had ever seen hovering over me."

""Who are you, how did I get here, and why in the world am I naked?""

"I leaned into him and took in his alluring scent. Oh Goddess, he even smelled like a book."

"What my witch wants, my witch gets. I gripped each side of her hips hard and became relentless in my journey to explore every inch of her p***y with my tongue."

""My Little Witch, you have enchanted me completely.""

Thank you so much to the author for a copy of this book!

This is a quick, engaging read with a straightforward, almost matter-of-fact writing style. The author provides just enough exposition to establish the setting and introduce the characters, allowing readers to easily understand the world and its premise without getting bogged down by heavy details. While the story doesn’t dive too deeply into complex world-building or emotional introspection, it delivers exactly what it promises, a short, spicy, and enjoyable escape.

The narrative centers entirely on the main leads and their magnetic, love-at-first-sight connection. The chemistry between them is immediate and palpable, and their attraction drives the plot from start to finish. The focus remains tightly on their relationship, which gives the story a sense of intensity and momentum. Both characters are written with distinct personalities that make them easy to root for. Their brief but meaningful backstories add some dimension to their otherwise fast-paced romance. The author’s ability to craft believable emotional tension and sprinkle hints of their pasts gives the pair just enough depth to keep readers invested.

What stands out most is the glimpse of a larger world that peeks through the story’s opening, a world rich with lore, realms, and the potential for greater stories. While the narrative could have expanded further on these elements, the author strikes a commendable balance between character development, world-building, and plot progression. For a story of this length, it feels surprisingly complete, even if readers are left wanting more.

Of course, with short stories come a few trade-offs. Certain plot threads, such as the challenges of coexisting between realms or the secrecy surrounding the lovers’ situation, remain unresolved by the end. These loose ends might leave readers curious about what happens next or wishing for more to explore those lingering questions.

Overall, Conjuring Love is a fast, steamy, and satisfying read, perfect for readers who enjoy quick romantic fantasy tales with strong chemistry, light world-building, and a touch of magic.

Celine’s mother keeps setting her up on blind dates, and her mother is at it again for the Solstice. So she decides to take matters into her own hands and cast a spell bringing Henry, the man from her romance novel, out of the pages and into her world. Henry was riding his horse when he found himself in Celine’s room. He’s drawn to her instantly and forgets what just happened to him. He’s awestruck at her world and taken by Celine, his little witch. Celine then finds out the spell was temporary, and there’s only one way to get Henry back… he has to want to be there, or he’ll be erased from her life, and her world, forever.

I picked this book up because I was in the mood for a novella and someone on Bookstagram posted about this book and how great it was. Well… I didn’t think it was so great. I’m not a fantasy/paranormal reader normally, so let’s get past the witch stuff as I knew what I was getting into when I picked it up. No, the problem that I had with this book is that the description makes this sound like a sweet novella when all this really was, was an excuse to write a smutty book. They both climb into bed with each other over and over again. That’s not what I wanted to read.

I wanted to read the story line, which pretty much disappeared for most of the novella. I feel like that’s hard to do with a book that’s only 103 pages. Seeing the other reviews, it seems that I am in the minority on this one. But I always promise honest reviews, so this is my honest review!
