And there against the perfect landscape and setting sun, two red dirt hearts became one.
And with that, the series is concluded.
These two will always have a special place in my heart. So very thankful and grateful to N.R. Walker for creating such a beautiful couple like these two, full of love, warmth, open communication, and adoration. I am sad that I have to say good bye to this series and characters—to stubborn Charlie and patient Travis, to Sutton Station, to the red dirt, to the blazing heated Australian landscape, to the station family—Ma, George, Billy, Bacon, Trudy, their daughter Grace, Ernie, Nara, Amos, little Milly, and even the small additions of Laura, Sam, Ainsley—to the farming area and its gracious animals. There are not enough words to describe the love I now have for this series. Despite how I didn’t like the first book, the rest of the series just grew on me, more and more. My love for the characters kept growing and growing, never stopping; I don’t think there’s any room for others in there at the moment. It’s full of the red dirt hearts.
All I can say is: I highly recommend this. Friends who love MM, please read this. If you’re familiar with N.R. Walker’s writing style and trademark, you’ll have an idea how this goes. Yes, it’s full of sweet love and warmth, but it also has emotional, captivating, and realistic moments. It is worth giving it a shot, and I hope anyone who hasn’t read this find love in these two the way many of us have.

Told from Travis's point of view and beginning a year after RDH3 ends, the fourth and last book in one of the best M/M series of all time follows Charlie and Trav as they cheer and cry, play and work.

Charlie grows ever closer to his newfound brother Sam and learns to relax and trust in himself.
Be it a confident Charlie standing up to a bully, a gentle Charlie training a horse, or a horny, drunk Charlie grinding against Trav on the dance floor, Charlie is a sight to behold.
Charlie and Trav run the station the same way they breathe air. They are the red dirt. They're there to stay.
Includes: a visit to Texas, an ever naughtier wombat, a mean game of cricket, a teenager with hope in his eyes, whispered words of forever at the lagoon, and a VERY big surprise.
There's joy and family, sweetness and romance, but also heartbreak and tears.
Finally, Charlie has someone to lean on; finally, he doesn't push Travis away.
And there's LAUGHTER, so much laughter.
Every few pages I would just giggle, sometimes because the passage was funny but also because I was just so damn happy reading this book.
Charlie and Trav get their HEA one hundred times over.
While I would have liked more steam (it was all fade to black) and could have done without the extended epilogue (don't worry: it's all good, but it moves us in increments 20 years into the future and I prefer to leave something to the imagination), I can only give this book, and this series, FIVE MY-HEART-IS-SINGING STARS. I will never forget Charlie and Travis.
There is a reason I voted the first three books of this series as one of my top five picks for 2014. Red Dirt Heart is everything a story should be, everything other books want to be but don't know how.

On a red dusty ranch in the Australian desert, Charlie and Travis have created a family with a small group of lovable characters that have absolutely stolen my heart.
He had no clue how to see himself the way I do or how to think he deserved such things in life. It’d taken me two years just to get him to realize he deserved to be loved.
Book four had some serious balling my eyes out moments, but continued the magic of the previous three stories. A beautiful continuation of Travis and Charlie's love story.
I could feel his breath on my face, and his hands—his rough, callused hands—skated over every inch of my skin. He always did that, from the very first time, he did it still. Like he was trying to memorize every inch of skin, as though he might forget what I felt like.
I never want this series to end.
He had no clue how to see himself the way I do or how to think he deserved such things in life. It’d taken me two years just to get him to realize he deserved to be loved.

Do you know that feeling of wanting to slow down while reading and rereading paragraphs that made you feel all gooey because you’re already dreading reaching the end to such a special story?
That was me here. I read this slowly, savouring every page, every interaction, every quiet or funny or gut-wrenching moment between all of these beautiful, beautiful characters.
What these books and these two do to me is honestly not okay (no, please, give me more, always more!). My heart was squeezed so many times that I was genuinely worried for myself.
Times my heart hurt (in the best and worst ways)
I cannot believe how far Travis and especially Charlie have come in the course of this series. I’m so proud 🥹
And getting Travis POV this time was such a treat!
I think this is my fav NR Walker and that’s saying something because I’ve read and loved A LOT by her already. This is now firmly sitting on my NEED AS PHYSICAL COPY shelf, because I need these two and Sutton Station in my apartment, ready to be picked up, reread and loved again and again and again ♥️♥️♥️

I love book series. I especially love completed book series. So, I waited patiently, like a good little Aussie, for this final book to be released before I attack-read the entire lot in one fell swoop, like a bloody champ!!
The wait was soooo very worth it. I've adored this entire experience, from start to finish. What a rare thing that is!
Charlie & Trav have easily cemented themselves in my official list of all-time fave book couples! It was such a pleasure to take this journey with them. I’m so bummed it’s over—although, I probably could do with a day where I'm not brought to tears repeatedly from a book (which happened EVERY DAY of the past 8 days of reading this series).
And may I say, that was the greatest epilogue I’ve ever read. My heart is full to bursting and I'm so very satisfied right now. *sigh*

Oh, this book!! It was so wonderfully bittersweet, I can't believe it's over. I don't want to give much away on what happens in this book so that you can experience everything for yourself. I will try to keep this short.
The book started off where the last book ended, except this time it was all told from Travis' P.O.V. It was pretty adorable seeing how Travis thought and felt for Charlie. I know how much Charlie loves Travis, so it was great being able to see that. Not to mention it made me mother-effing melt completely.

I will admit, it did start of a tad bit slow for me. There were moments I didn't think the story would go anywhere, but thankfully that all changed, especially near the end. This is the reason why I could not give this book a 5 star rating. Another being that there was not a single steamy scene between them, it always faded to black. I was like "what the heck?", I wanted at least one before it all ended. But, that's okay, because the last half of the book was filled of romantic sappiness that made me really happy.

I am so happy with ending these two got in their final book. Telling you that my heart was bursting with joy is probably an understatement to what I was actually feeling. I smiled so damn big, and cried many happy tears. It was just so beautiful, unlike how I looked while reading it, I'm pretty sure I looked like a complete loon. Charlie and Travis are so perfect for each other, that they have become one of my favourite m/m couples. And that epilogue...Best. Thing. Ever! Yes, it might have been overly sweet, but I was totally okay with it. Overall, it was a wonderful conclusion. I am so sad to see it all come to a close, but I am also so very happy for them. It definitely left me with a warm and bubbly feeling. I will miss them.

Full. I am SO full. I was a greedy glutton girl with this series but there are valid reasons for such ravenous behavior. When it comes to this pair of cowboys living their best life with red dust on their boots, I get a full pardon for such insatiable hunger. They swept me off my feet with the first part of this series and just when I thought they couldn’t take me any higher, they pushed the bar far beyond plain view. Considering this is the fourth and final book, their history is pivotal here. No, you cannot get two hundred dollars and pass go, you must start at the beginning. I assure you, this is no hardship. Since it builds and grows with each book I’m afraid I can’t tell you much about the actual plot. But I can tell you what to expect. Which is happiness, passion, humor, and honest-to-goodness feels. The voice shifts to Travis and what a delight his perspective is. Charlie has found many things in the past year; his true love, long-lost family, his confidence, and the utter adoration of a wombat. Travis pushes him to reach for his dreams and his unwavering support allows Charlie to take on whatever comes across his path. Their love is genuine and true and with its everlasting flow comes not only comfort but freedom. I loved their fierce passion, mutual respect, and ability to brighten the darkest of days. They safeguard each other and those few special souls they’ve allowed in their circle. Their family continues to grow and along with it, so did my smile. The epilogue is like a dessert bar at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Sweet, sweeter, and beyond the sweetest you can possibly imagine. Good thing I have a sweet tooth. *wink*
Let me just say this, if you like book hugs and haven’t had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Charlie Sutton and Travis Craig I implore you…follow your fingers to one-click the first book (or save yourself some time and just snag the bundle)…Sutton Station isn’t going anywhere anytime soon…why not give this cowboy and his cowboy a chance? I can guarantee you won’t regret it. Blistering heat, work from sun up till sundown, and a red horizon as far as you can see….sounds like paradise to me!
Beware of: The tables are turned when Charlie is the out-of-towner…but nervous Charlie brings out a feisty Travis. And apparently, tipsy Charlie is tinted green and Trav finds this hilarious and adorable. But most of all, the resounding heartbeat of “family” can be felt radiating from the pages. Oh, and an ending that will make you gahhh, and squeee, and yee-haw until the very end.
This book is for: Of course, fans of this series but if you’re new to the club don’t worry, I just found this slice of paradise in the outback myself and I promise I’ll save you a seat on the veranda.

My heart!!!!
I cried from being absolutely devastated at THAT scene, I laughed so much at everyone's antics and then I cried from being ridiculously happy and such a sap!
This book has a different feel to it because it's told from Travis's POV instead of Charlie's for the first time, and although I would have liked to be inside Charlie's mind when the whole Shelby situation occurred, the way it was written had me full on ugly crying anyway. It was interesting seeing things from a new perspective though.
That wedding with just the two of them at their lagoon was beautiful. There were so many moments where their love for each other really shone and just made me so happy.
I also think that this is one of the best epilogues I've ever read. Seeing snapshots of their life as a family over almost two decades was absolutely perfect and I'm glad it didn't go further because I couldn't take the death of any of these characters at all.
Seriously NR Walker is so, so good at hitting me in the heartstrings with her Northern Territory books - the storm chaser series also has its hooks in me too.
I absolutely love Charlie and Travis and I'm genuinely sad to get to the end of their story - definitely adding the paperbacks to my tiny library space though.

I'm in the mountains of Colorado with little to no internet access so I can't properly review this book/this series!
I've basically been living with Charlie and Travis these last 3.5 days! Completely binge reading their love story.
I'm completely devastated that it's all over. Devastated. What am I going to do without Charlie and Travis in my life? And Nugget, Ma, George, Bacon, Trudy, Ernie, Billy, Nara, Amos?!?
This love story was EPIC, plain and simple. Charlie and Travis will forever be one of my all time favorite couples!

This is the end of the line....the end of the series. Charlie and Travis are now an established couple. They're still dealing with the station and all it's ups and downs. They're dealing with family and people in general. But they're progressing in their relationship and life has a way of making you see what's important. It's time for the next step.
Told entirely from Travis' POV we get the final book. It really felt like an extended epilogue to me. With only one really sad incident, there's not much angst. But it was them becoming a family and having what they've always wanted.
This has been the best series. It's the epitome of romance. Two individuals made for each other...soul mates.
I'm sorry to see it end. I think I could read 100 more books about this couple. This is why I read romance. These are the types of books I will come back to over and over.
Oh how I love these two. I could read ten more books about them.

Ait, let’s keep it short and sweet for once, and mainly because by book 4, the entire series kinda melds together and I struggle with remembering what happened in which book. This is the one in the series that will make you cry, probably. IYKYK. And yet somehow, it’s the damn epilogue that makes me sob every time. N. R. Walker does epilogues so well. I think I just get so attached to these characters by the end of book 4 that the way the epilogue is set up hits me so fucking hard. It’s not supposed to be sad. Anyway; enough chatter. If you loved book 1-3, you’ll love this one as well. Very neat to get a book from Travis’ POV.
The thing about food poisoning is that at first you wish to not be sick, and then you wish for death.
I can see and remember by the highlights I made that the humor was dialed up in this one.

3.5 stars ⭐️ Wow! The ending is awesome and emotional! I love that nose nudging thing between Charlie and Travis! It is the most romantic thing in this series!
I think this installment is not necessary for this series. Things that have been said in the past books were also repeated in this book as well. As much as I love these two, I was getting bored in the middle of the book, and I tried to skip a few chapters. Nevertheless, I did finish reading this book without skimming, and I think it was considered a win.

chapter 17!!! i’m about to cry again thinking about that chapter. it was so beautiful. 🥺 Travis and Charlie have become such a comfort couple for me over the past few days while binging this series, i truly adore them and they have come so far, especially Charlie. oh how i love Charlie so much. 🫠 i’m gonna miss them and everyone in the Sutton Station ranch!! i loved how we finally got Travis’ pov in this book. i loved being in Charlie’s pov in the previous books, but i also simply loved how we were able to see Travis’ thoughts and feelings for Charlie completely.

Just read this again.....I absolutely love Charlie and Travis and they are one of my all time favorite couples!! Original review below......
Have you ever had that book where your cheeks start to hurt and you wonder why only to realize it’s because you’ve been smiling the whole time? For me, this was that book.
Let me start by saying that I’ve loved this series from book 1. Travis and Charlie are one of my all-time favorite couples and it deeply saddens me that I won’t get to enjoy another book about their life together. I’ve loved every page within these books and the last one did not disappoint.
Please be warned, there will more than likely be SPOILERS ahead, so read with caution if you haven’t read this book or any of the previous three.
It was such a joy to get into Travis’s head. He is such a genuinely nice and caring person that you can’t help but love him. He is willing to laugh at himself and he is so great at assessing situations and saying just the perfect thing if he sees someone needs help. He is what Charlie needed, and in time, Travis knows that Charlie is what he needed as well. It’s easy to tell they truly care about each other and they are deeply in love.
Here are some of my favorite things:
*Charlie getting nervous and rambling on and on.
*Charlie being hungover on a plane.
*Travis and his awful sexual puns (his Centaur reference….or blowing out the candle lol)
*Travis knowing exactly where Charlie was going to take him on his birthday.
*Travis being so patient with Charlie’s feelings regarding Shelby and getting a new horse.
*Travis with Amos. He has such a way with making people feel comfortable around him.
*Charlie with Amos. Charlie’s heart is huge and what he did for Amos no doubt changed his life.
*Charlie and the way he makes fun of Travis’s accent.
*Charlie and how endearingly nervous he was to make a good impression on Travis’s family.
*Travis and how he fiercely defended Charlie to his family and his father.
*Nugget and his ability to constantly get belly rubs.
*When Charlie calls Trav 'his Travis'...well, Charlie would say 'my Travis'...you know what I mean.
Seriously, I could go on and on. Read this series my friends. You won't be disappointed. If you are, I'm going to have Nugget eat your shoes.
I'm going to miss you Charlie and Trav, you are definitely going to always be at the top of my favorite couple list.
There are only a few N.R. Walker books that I haven't read and I will be getting to them soon. Definitely an author that everyone should check out. 4.5 stars for the series!
Red Dirt Heart 4 is the final book in the series, which takes place one year after book 3, and switches to Travis's POV. I thought it was a very sweet way to wrap up Charlie and Travis's story. The writing was amazing, and all in all I thought it was a great series. The characters, the setting, the scenery, everything was perfect.
This final book had some very sweet moments, I think I had a cheesy grin on my face for half of the book. I love those books that make you feel the emotional connection between the characters, and I think that's what made this series so special. I loved the way Travis was so patient and accepted and understood Charlie. They were just so ridiculously adorable together. My favorite part of this book was Travis's birthday and the trip to Texas. *happy sigh* :))
I have to admit that I don't think it was necessary for this series to be four books. As much as I loved it, some parts seemed slow by the time I was reading books 3 and 4. I think I know more about mustering and Charlie's beef association meetings than I ever needed to. Lol. Having said that, I still give the author a big round of applause for pulling it off, and writing this beautiful series with characters I won't forget.
I will also say that I didn't read the whole epilogue. I know it's weird of me, but I don't like epilogues anyway, and this one was serious epilogue overkill. It's just a personal preference, I know most people will love it.
I can't wait to check out more books by N.R. Walker:)

DNF at 70%.
I feel like I should duck, in case anyone decides to throw eggs or rotten tomatoes at me.
Possible spoilers below.
In my opinion, the Red Dirt Heart series should have ended at Red Dirt Heart 3. But then I'm not a die-hard fan of the series. I like the series a lot, and I gave books 2 and 3 four stars, but I don't live and breathe Travis and Charlie while I'm reading their books.
Which is okay, because after reading through most of the book it's clear that Red Dirt Heart 4 is meant for the die-hard fans, and that's great. This book is for those who absolutely need to know what happens next, no matter what "next" might entail.
For me, next was boring and repetitive. I could only read so many conversations over and over again. Especially when many of these conversations were already put to rest (or so I thought) in previous books. And the repetitive-fade-to-black sex scenes weren't fun either. I don't need a lot of sex in my books, and neither do I need cookie-cutter foreplay or quick run-throughs every few pages. I would have just preferred two or three actual sex scenes, rather than all of those fade-to-black scenes.
Another thing that really bothered me was the POV. The blurb says "Red Dirt Heart 4 is Travis’ story." It's really not. It's still Charlie's show, with side commentary by Travis. I was really bummed about that, because after loving Travis through Charlie's eyes, I was looking forward to getting to know Travis. But it seemed like Travis' existence just revolved around keeping Charlie happy, with very little of his own character. Compared to how Charlie's POV was written in previous books, Travis was just two-dimensional.
Red Dirt Heart 4 just didn't work for me. I was bored and had been skimming since 60%, so I decided to call it quits while I could still give it 2 stars. As can be deduced by the GR rating, this book is a favourite for many fans of the series. But for casual readers or not-so-die-hard-fans, I'd say Red Dirt Heart 3 worked great as a final book.

I can't believe it's over... Although I loved the ending, it's quite bittersweet to know there won't be another book. These books are probably my favorite Cowboy series. I love Travis and Charlie. Speaking of Charlie; My gawd! I totally fell in love with him all over again in this book. I loved that the last book is written in Travis' POV. I liked getting into his head and finally seeing how he see's Charlie. It was the best way to end the book. Although I'm sad there won't be another book, I'm grateful that I had the chance to read about these two men and that I can come back and visit them whenever I want. <3

There is a reason why I’ve raged about this author’s recent works. Because nothing can top this series. The audios honestly feel like a tv series. Joel’s narration is exquisite, and this is probably one of the most satisfying epilogues I’ve ever read/listened to.
I am both simultaneously celebrating this series while mourning the author that wrote this. I am both thankful to her for the gift of Travis and Charlie, and angry at her for falling into the stereotypical mediocrity MM authors, even the established ones, have fallen into. Quantity over quality is the theme now. And it breaks my heart. What an awesome reading world this would be if authors always strive to write at this level.
Anyway, even if you’re not an audio person, you should try these. Joel does a great job. But don’t read anything from her in the past year. It’ll break your heart.

I'm going to miss Travis and Charlie so much. It's been like reading about a bunch of friends who you've taken into your heart and you get a yearly bulletin of all that's gone on since you saw them last.
This book is Travis speaking for the first time and I loved we got to see Charlie and Sutton Station, and the family through his eyes. The time jumps worked well too, even as I wished we weren't watching them all get older.
I like to think that Suttton Station is out there in the heart of the Australian Outback, where a young woman with hair the colour of the dirt on which it stands is leading a young man a merry dance while two farmers, with twinkles in their eyes, watch from a covered porch, a wombat curled up at their feet.

Reread October 3, 2018. Such an awesome series. I’m sure I’ll go back to this one again in the future. I love this quote.

Okay, so it took me four books and a shift in perspective, but I finally, finally understand why Travis fell in love with Charlie. This was beautiful. And it was totally worth reading three books I felt so-so about just to be able to read this one.

So...THIS BOOK? It felt like a love letter from NR Walker to her fans...well, the fans of this series, at least. It was a treat. It was special. It was this explosion of love all over every page. Splattered in every nook and cranny, embedded in every pore...there is love.
I have been following the series from the start. Red Dirt Heart was one of my favorite books of 2014 and Charlie and Travis took hold of me and would not let go. I've had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the series as a whole. As much as I loved book 1, book 2 was good but not as good, and book 3 just did not work for me. But, I never lost faith. Not in NR Walker and not in Charlie and Travis' story.
Red Dirt Heart 4, as fans of the series know (and really, only fans of the series are reading this review by this point, right? :) ), is told from Travis' POV...finally. And good lord...this man...he loves himself some Charlie Sutton. If I ever doubted this (I never doubted this), seeing Charlie through Travis' eyes made my heart stretch to the point of actual pain...of the BEST kind! When someone sees a person so clearly, when their love is patient and supportive, when their feelings are completely intertwined with the other, when they are a miracle to the other...yeah...that's one of those "my heart can't take it" kinda loves. And that's what we've got in this book.
If, for any reason, you're thinking you don't want to see this series through to the end, I'd really ask you to reconsider. Book 4 was emotional...SO MUCH FREAKING LOVE...I cried over and over again, the best kind of tears. We get to meet Travis' family along with Charlie. We get an epilogue that is so over the top sappy, but I'm completely ok with it. We get Charlie pretty much saving the world, or close to it...and we love him for it because Travis loves him for it. We get.. And we get more of Nugget the wombat...'nuff said.
Bliss...total bliss.
I'm going to miss the guys so much.

My review: this series is beautiful. Best of the best. I recommend this series to all the romance lovers out there. I will never forget it these characters.
NR Walker, thank YOU so much for letting us hear Charlie's voice. I didn't think it was possible to fall more in love with story but I did. ♥

“Red Dirt Heart 4” is the fourth and final installment in “Red Dirt” Series by N.R. Walker and it picks up a year after “Red Dirt Heart 3” ends. This installment is entirely told from Travis's POV and I loved every minute of it. I really felt Travis’s voice was different from Charlie’s and it was so great to see all the characters, Sutton Station and most of all Charlie through his eyes. We get to know Travis better and to see and feel his love for Charlie. Even if we have some sad parts, but not unnecessary drama, this book made me happy.
Travis moved from Texas to an Australian Outback, but he never regretted it. He knows what his heart wants and he is more than happy with his decision. Charlie will always be his first choice. Travis is content with his life at Sutton Station, he loves the red dirt, he loves it all.
Through Travis’s eyes we get to see the new Charlie who is more communicative and more confident. Even if he changed a lot in two years since Travis came to Sutton Station, Charlie can’t talk about marriage or kids with Travis. Not yet. And they have been engaged for a year. But Travis is the most patient man and he is ready to wait for Charlie. He doesn’t need a piece of paper to be with the man he loves. He knows he has his heart and his promise and that’s enough for him. In one year Charlie’s relationship with his birth mother and brother changed a lot. Now they are pretty close and Charlie learnt how to forgive and how to move on.
I loved how these two men are with each other. Their tenderness warmed my heart. They made me smile and swoon and I was happy every single time they were happy. They felt so real to me and so perfect for each other. Like Travis, I didn’t doubt for one moment they were made for each other.
Charlie is the perfect boos, the perfect son, the perfect lover. At least in Travis’s eyes. And mine. There’s no doubt he’s a good man. He is patient, caring, loving not only with his lover, but with everyone at the Station.
Travis was so great! I loves his POV and how his love for Charlie is more important than everything else. Nothing else matters when he’s near Charlie. The epilogue was perfect. It was so nice to see them in the future. They are fulfilled and still in love and I was so happy for them.
All in all, “Read Dirt Heart 4” was a great conclusion to this series, full of sweet and funny moments, happiness, tenderness, with endearing main and secondary characters and of course great writing.

What a journey! I wish it wasn't over, but Charlie and Travis deserve their HEA.
I am sorry I don't get to read more about them, but I witnessed everything through their adventures in the red dirt land. Their first impressions, first kisses and first everything. How I'm gonna miss these two.
This book was told by Travis's POV. We knew how Charlie loved him and now we get to see everything Travis feels. And it's beautiful, although I have to say that Charlie, with his insecurities and his shyness made me fall in love with him instantly. But I love Travis too.
So much happens in this book. I don't want to spoil anything, but many scenes had me crying and many more laughing. I loved all the characters. Travis's family is so cute. Everybody, new and old, is just wonderful.
It looks like everything is complete now. Charlie and Travis have absolutely everything and the author shows how happy they are through different periods of their lives.
Milly! I loved her. Enough said.
