Edenn Agueran, a young seamstress of humble origins, sees her life turned upside down when an unexpected event brings her within the walls of the royal palace.
There, she discovers a world of appearances and conspiracies… and crosses paths with Prince Kayden Emerald — distant, proud, and irresistibly intriguing.
Behind every smile lies a blade. Behind every title, a secret.
And at the heart of the palace rests a stone older than time itself. It judges. It reveals. It protects.

Secrets, betrayals, forbidden legacies… and a love that could change everything.

I found this book to be both refreshing and intriguing, a story told with such elegance that it often felt like stepping into a modern fairytale. Woven throughout the narrative is a rich tapestry of royal intrigue, hidden identities, and quiet conspiracies, all of which make the story utterly riveting and difficult to put down. These elements are balanced beautifully by a slow-burn, restrained romance that unfolds with subtlety and grace, adding a gentle, tender undercurrent to the plot rather than overpowering it. Altogether, this is a truly enchanting read—one that lingers in the mind long after the final page, leaving behind the same wistful satisfaction as a beloved classic.
Firstly, thank you to the author for giving me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I went into this book completely blind and didn’t know what to expect- I got Cinderella vibes due to the commoner/royalty romance trope but other than that it is a pretty good romantasy.
There’s a wide range of characters but the main focus is on a seamstress, Edenn, who accidentally says she’s a duchess and ends up being invited into the palace to make dresses for the young princess.
From there there is a plot of jealousy, mistaken identities and then the truth is revealed and a happy ending was the perfect finish.
The villain of the story was a genuine surprise! I love a catty bitch most of the time but the fact it was a princess within the royal circle was clever.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the writing style, it seems rushed in places but the more I read the more I got used to the prose that I ended up loving how it flowed.
It took me a while to get into the story (but I think this is because I was reading another book at the same time)
I would have loved to have seen the wedding at the end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book gave me major hidden identity and palace-based intrigue vibes, with a subtle Pride and Prejudice–style tension that I really enjoyed 📖✨
The mystery woven around identity kept me turning pages, and the setting felt alive—almost like a character itself 🗝️🏛️. The slow-burn interactions, unspoken feelings, and restrained emotions reminded me of classic Austen energy, but with a fresh twist 💫💬.
While a few moments felt slightly drawn out, the atmosphere, character dynamics, and quiet revelations more than made up for it. This is the kind of story that rewards patient readers who love clever secrets, social nuance, and romantic tension 💕
I received this ARC for an honest review, and I’m glad I did—this one lingered with me after the final page. Definitely worth picking up if you enjoy intrigue with elegant, classic vibes 🌿📚
