This title from the Pebble Plus series Ice Age Animals focuses on the Sabertooth Cat. Each two page spread has a short paragraph of easy text and a large color image that illustrates the information being presented. Meant for young emerging readers, the text is basic enough not to frustrate them, but interesting enough to keep them engaged. The picture book format allows for the book to be read aloud to classes and groups without frustration that they will not be able to see the pictures. Supplemental material includes a table of contents, glossary, index, and bibliography of books and suggested web sites. I would recommend this book for purchase to any school or public library.
