With one singular live out the fantasy of certified virgins.
Sage Sachs knows none of this when she receives the exclusive invitation. The more she learns about this taboo event, the more it intrigues her. It’s Cinderella meets Prince Charming, only this fairytale doesn’t hold the promise of marriage and a HEA. In this fairytale she doesn’t leave him holding her glass slipper, she leaves him holding her V-card.
Fantasy First: Unconventional Love by Racy Rice immediately pulls you in—a mysterious black envelope, a vague invitation, and an NDA scream you’re about to get into something sexy, spicy, and secretive. It is like a fantasy; stepping into the unknown, and Sage Sachs is easy to follow because she’s just as curious (and nosy) as the rest of us. It’s got that Cinderellaish‑but‑not‑really vibe, but with a darker, more forbidden twist.
The problem is the length. At only 47 pages, this thing moves fast, too fast. The buildup is great, the atmosphere is fun, and the premise promises mystery, heat, and lots of emotional tension… and then the story just stops. Not a cliffhanger, not a tease for book two—just a hard, abrupt ending. It left me with way more questions than answers, and it definitely killed the momentum.
That said, the concept itself is genuinely interesting, and the opening chapters do a good job, making it intriguing and entertaining. If you’re into short, spicy, high‑concept fantasy reads, this is still a quick, entertaining escape. Just go in knowing the ending feels more like a door closing in your face.
If the author ever expands this into a longer story or even a series, there’s plenty of room for the world and the setup to grow—and honestly, it would benefit from that extra space.
Sage and her roommate Gabby are tired of having men only trying to take advantage of them and not taking things slow. Both of them are still virgins and are to the point of letting a one night be their first time so that it is finally out of the way. They feel that there is no possibility that someone could fulfill their fantasies especially for their first time. However Sage has received the infamous black envelope, even though neither of them know exactly what it is, Gabby has heard and says women come out changed for the better. So after some thought Sage responds to the envelope and awaits the day she is to be picked up. Once at the awaiting manor after signing an NDA she is pampered and prepped for the nights festivities. After speaking to a couple of gentlemen, she meets eyes with a mysterious guy across the floor and she is left speechless. She didn’t know just one look could cause feelings like that. However after leaving the men she had no interest in, she tries to find Prince Charming across the room and he is nowhere in sight. She decides to go outside for some fresh air. Could this finally be her chance to have her first time exactly as she wants it or will she leave before things get to exciting?
Fantasy First by Racy Rice is a bold debut that’s brimming with potential. Ms. Rice clearly has a knack for crafting a well written story, and there are moments where the story shines – but unfortunately the 47pages didn’t allow enough ‘room’ for the story to really make an impression. With a ‘fantasy’ coming to life spicy story, with lots of themes I can’t mention here without potentially either spoiling it for you, or getting my review flagged, there was much promise to the synopsis ---- BUT, instead, it all just felt incredibly rushed. The promise of great things was definitely there, but I felt the story needed to be much longer to allow for more character and story development, a more tempered pace, and less abrupt POV changes, and the related confusion. Not to mention that the very abrupt ending felt like it left me with whip lash. But, if you want a racy read and are short on time, then this might be just what you are looking for. I am interested to see what Book #2 might bring, as hopefully the issues with this instalment will be resolved in the next instalment. Happy Reading.
Fantasy First is a quick, spicy introduction to the Lustspur series. Sage Sachs gets an exclusive invite to a formal event for virgins. Only “members” can invite outsiders to the event, but who would have invited her and know she was a virgin? She has a secret admirer who has been waiting for her. At this moment, however, it is a party where the women have the most power, and he wants her to come to him. Lucky for him, she also feels a strange pull towards him after speaking to many others who have no connection to him. After spending some time, she gives in to temptation and is glad she did. However, both misinterpret the feelings and future of what the relationship could be. She wants more, but knew that was never the purpose; he wanted to get her out of his system, but now he knows once will never be enough.
I thought this was an intriguing introduction to the series. I am not sure how I truly feel because you did not get much information and were left with many questions about who, where, and what is going on. However, the chemistry between the characters is steamy, and I imagine that aspect will only get better in future books.
The whole setup hooked me right away. A mysterious black envelope, a hush-hush invitation, and an NDA pretty much guarantees something big is coming. There’s a faint fairytale feel to it, just with a darker, more adult twist.
Where it stumbled for me was the length. It is super short, so just when the tension and intrigue start building, the story cuts off very abruptly. Not a dramatic cliffhanger… more like hitting a wall mid scene, which left me with way too many unanswered questions. Why does it seem like the man knows Sage? Who is he? Why does it seem like they had a thing in the past? Why doesn’t Sage recognize him?
That said, the premise itself is solid. The exclusive club, the mystery man, and the hints of a bigger world kept it entertaining even if the pacing felt rushed.
Overall it is a quick, spicy fantasy read with definite potential. I just wish it had more breathing room, because I would absolutely read more if the story continues. Hopefully book 2 will explain all the questions I have.
Fantasy First: Unconventional Love (Lustspur #1) by Racy Rice
This is the first book I've read by the author. It will not be my last though. I need the second book of the series because this one kinda left off on a cliffhanger. Fantasy First is the first book in the Lustspur Series.
Sage is invited to a ball that gives you a chance to lose your V card. It gives her the creeps because there's no information on the envelope. She finally gives in after her roommate talks her into it. She says this to her roommate when she gets the invite: “It’s creepy. There’s no name, no return address. No information at all.”
Prince is what we'll call the guy because it never gives his name. He has wanted Sage to begin with, but she's never paid him any attention. One way to get her is inviting her to a party. He tells her this: “I considered it a calculated risk. I had no doubt I’d figure out who you are. The truth is, on paper and in person, I didn’t find anyone else remotely interesting.”
This is a very quick read book, which I happen to enjoy. There is nothing like finishing a book the same day you start it. This book is really good. It has depth, the characters are easily liked, there is a lot of spice, and the pace of the book with the storyline keeps things moving. I would say that I want more of the book but knowing that this is the beginning of the series, I will get more. That is the reason I didn't give it 4 stars. You will read this an instantly want more because its really good and knowing that there is more coming allows us to have a feel good feeling. If you want some spicy quick moving story line, I have a feeling this series is going to be for you. I can't say much else about the book without giving things away but you won't be disappointed while reading this if you keep in mind there are more to come. If the book just ended where it did and there where no more books coming, it would still be a good book but would leave you wanting more on a disappointing way. This leaves you wanting more in a good way. Can't wait for the next book.
Well alright. I would have gave this book 5 stars but....
So I am invested in the story and it is at a pretty fast pace, then all of a sudden... bam!!! It's over and I am left with more questions than answers. I don't mean cliffhanger style ending, I mean total quick and abrupt ending. I really hate abrupt endings.
The story is intriguing and very interesting. It is mysterious and it continues to be a mystery. We don't find out any of the backstory behind the invitation and the person who recommended Sage. With the very abrupt ending you still won't have the answers you need. This book could've easily went on for many more chapters and had much more depth to the story. It was too rushed and ending too fast.
I am guessing that the book will continue into another. Let's hope so. Still intrigued.
This was an intriguing read with a concept that immediately grabbed my attention. The idea of receiving a mysterious black envelope invitation was such a great hook—I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I really liked the main character, Sage. She was relatable and I liked the relationship she had with her best friend. The story moves at a very fast pace, therefore my biggest issue is how short the book is. You start reading and suddenly it’s over. The ending felt abrupt—almost like a door closing in your face. Overall, I enjoyed the concept and the characters so much that I wish this had been longer. It feels like the perfect setup for a series, and I think it could easily be expanded into one. I’d definitely read more if that happens.
Racy Rice is a first time author for me so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Fantasy First, the first book in the Lustspur series. But it was definitely not what I predicted. The overall concept is exciting and intriguing, but at a mere 47 pages I feel like so much was left out. The ending was so abrupt and left so many questions unanswered that I felt very disappointed in the story. I am hoping that the next book in the series is a little more lengthy and answers many of the questions hanging in the air. The main character, Sage, has some definite potential as a lead, although a bit naïve. And “Prince" had me fantasizing about who he could be and how he came to be so obsessed with Sage. Overall, a fast, spicy read that had definite potential, but ultimately fell a little flat. I wouldn't mind picking up another Racy Rice book, just to give it a try.
3.5 ⭐️ Fantasy First is a short novella of the Lustspur series. Sage receives a mysterious invitation to an exclusive event that requires an NDA to be signed. At first Sage dismisses it and was going to throw it in the trash until her roommate Gabby keeps nagging for her to see what it’s about. This was an easy, fast read. While it does have some potential it did fall a little flat for me. I can see where it’s going and it would be better if there was more expanded content and didn’t feel so rushed. I was very confused by the last paragraph in the first chapter at first. I went back and forth between 2-3 pages just to make sense of it. That dramatic shift all at once was pretty confusing at first. Overall it was a decent short read setting up the next book in the series, hopefully there’s more to the second one.
This was the first book I had read by this author, but the synopsis hooked me pretty quickly. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it considering it was such a short read. I typically choose books that are over 300 pages or so because they contain so much detail and I love to dive in. Even though this one is a quick read, I was blown away by how much the author was able to fit in! It is quite steamy, edgy, and feels a little bit forbidden which leads to such a wild ride. The characters are easy to root for, and the storyline moves at a perfect pace. I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll keep this pretty short. This is a fun, daring read that I totally recommend if you want something magical, provocative, and a tiny bit scandalous. Don’t miss out! I’m so excited and ready for the next book in this series, so catch up while you can.
This was a VERY short read. I don't usually care for them because they don't carry a long term depth or storyline to them but I was very pleasantly surprised with this one!!! Nothing like a little mystery with some romance. Sage receives an invitation....and she doesn't know what it is or where it came from; only that it's a club that's prestigious in terms of invitation only. And you know anything that involves an NDA is going to amp up a lot of components (what is this club all about, what kind of members are there, who is the mystery man that sent it, will Sage enjoy herself). There's enough content to rile you up and make you wonder what's going to happen, and then it cuts off, which is really my only complaint. You're going to want more---just like I did!
This was a really quick read. Having said that, there was quite a bit of mystery and intrigue. I truly wish this story had been longer because there was room for so much more. I was completely captivated wondering what was going to happen once Sage accepts the invitation. I was left wanting more so I'm hoping the next book will give me some answers. This author writes with skill telling a story in a short book. It was a fast paced story and I found myself wishing for it to slow down a bit and give me more information. This is a new author to me and I enjoyed writing style. Even though this was a quick read I enjoyed reading this story and can't wait to see what this author has in store for us next. I recommend this book.
When I read the blurb for this book, it held so much promise for what was to come. I was intrigued by what the story might have to offer and knew I had to read it. The book was a good read, and I felt like it was setting up was is to come in the rest of the series. I enjoyed reading about Sage and thought she was a really interesting character. That being said, I think the story lost a bit of its appeal with how short it was. Overall it felt a bit rushed and left me feeling like there should have been more. If this story had been explored over a longer book, I think it would have worked much better. However, it has still left me intrigued for the next book and I will definitely be giving it a go.
Overall an extremely short introductory read to the series.
Sage gives me the impression that she is a very cautious girl who is waiting for the one to settle down with and marry before she gives her V-Card away.
She receives a mysterious and exquisite invitation in the mail, and with the help of her BFF she lets her curiosity take over… thank goodness!!
Our Prince Charming is a mystery that I’d love to know more about. Unfortunately, the story is just an introduction, and we aren’t able to get much information at this time.
Even as an introduction, I had more expectations for the spicy scenes. However, the story did leave me wanting more, and I will definitely follow the series!
Fantasy first is the first book in the Lustspur series. This is a short spicy story. It has great promise but I wished the story was longer. I can't say to much without giving the story away but I will say it was an interesting concept and a unique story.
When Sage Sachs received a mysterious envelope with an invitation and a NDA she has no idea she is about to embark on a night to remember. Where fantasy becomes reality. This isn't a Cinderella story. Sage isn't going to leave the ball with prince charming. But she may leave feeling more of a woman than when she arrived If you want to know more you have to read it. It was a unique story and I did enjoy it and will be looking forward to reading more in this series.
Racy Rice's book "Fantasy First" was a very steamy short read. This story grabbed my attention immediately, and once I turned the last page, I was left excited to read on. I cannot wait for the next book to come out. I want to know more about what goes on between Sage and her mystery man. Despite this book being such a short read, it packed a whole lot into those pages. The characters were developed just enough to have the reader intrigued, but not too much that you knew who the mystery man was until the very end, when the author drops a strong hint as to the identity, and boy, it is a juicy hint. Looking forward to reading more from this author. I recommend this book to any adults looking for a quick, steamy romance filled with mystery and romance. @Brandy Rymer 02/2026
Fantasy First is a steamy short story that is part of a series about a girl that’s lusted after to be her first. A mysterious invitation leads to one unforgettable night. Leaving the characters and the reader wanting more. Sage still has all her innocence. This book demonstrates how she goes from innocent girl to mature woman. When her friend convinces her to take the invite and respond she had no idea what she was in for. However she’s not looking back either. Something seems familiar about him but she isn’t sure what. Guess we will all have to read book 2 to potentially find out. In the meantime if you want a steamy short story that involves someone who just needs to get laid. You’ve found the right book.
Fantasy First: Unconventional Love (Lustspur Book 1) by Racy Rice. 4 of 5 Stars. This short and steamy romance is a fun read. Sage receives an exclusive invitation to a taboo event, offering her a night where her fantasies can come true. Sage knows as she signs a NDA, that this is not a fairytale that will lead to marriage and a HEA. However, she’s intrigued by the vague invitation in its black envelope and looks forward to the event. The intriguing storyline had me hooked throughout. I liked Sage and thought her character was very likeable, relatable and realistic. This is definitely a steamy read and the descriptive narrative brought the event to life, making me feel fully immersed in the story.
Fantasy First by Racy Rice was a very very fast read!
Sage, the main character, recieves a very mysterious and apparently exclusive invite to a Formal Event. The invite lacks all the pertinent details you would expect. Shes very unsure about whether or not she should respond to the number on the invite or throw it in the trash. However reluctantly she agrees with a little pressure from her best friend/roommate Gabby.
Once she accepts the invite, it only becomes more weird and surreal. As well as life altering! Shes given ample opportunity to back out, but doesnt!
I found this to be a great story! My only negative feedback is i have to wait for the 2nd installment!
Quick read, has potential. I Iike that Sage is curious, tired of being a virgin, why not get pampered and loose it safely. I enjoyed the mystery of it all, but the POV jumping back and forth in the middle of a chapter threw me off. The speed at which they meet and separate was too quick. By the end I am left with nothing but questions. Does Sage know this man? How does this man know Sage? Why didn’t he stay until the morning? How does he know so much about Sage? And because of all these questions, I absolutely look forward to the next book to see what happens, what becomes of Sage and this mystery man.
This is a short romance story that I enjoyed reading. This is a new author for me in which I enjoyed their use of details that made the story realistic. I enjoyed how this author packed this story full of romance in a short amount of time. This is a well written story about an invitation and a taboo event. This is a story you don’t want to miss for sure. I enjoyed the characters and what they brought to the story. They are strong, connectable and kept me turning pages fast. I found this a fast paced story that I read in one sitting. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author in the future. I highly recommend this book.
Fantasy First: Unconventional Love (Lustspur Book 1)
This was an incredibly quick read, but it was enough to have me plan on reading the next book. I have to know who he is and his connection her.
Sage is a young 20 something yr old woman with no known prospects. She gets a mysterious black envelope and is intrigued as is her roommate, so she decides to go.
The party was not like anything she could have ever expected and enjoys herself so much.
The next book is set to be released next month, I will have to sit patiently until then which is not an easy feat for me. Hope you give this a try.
4 Stars Fantasy First: Unconventional Love By Racy Rice
Fantasy First: Unconventional Love is a super short very fast paced story that was easily read in one short setting. This is a new author to me and I wasn’t real sure what to expect going in. There’s lots of potential for this to be a great book, just didn’t check the boxes for me. Felt extremely rushed and made the flow seem way off. I’m normally a fan of this genre yet I just couldn’t connect with the characters or the storyline. I’m definitely going to come back around and reread . I look forward to watching this author grow and look forward to reading more from this Author.
Fantasy First: Unconventional Love is a bold, steamy read that jumps right into its taboo premise and has fun with it. The mysterious invite and secretive setup instantly hook you, and Sage’s mix of nerves and curiosity feels very relatable as the fantasy unfolds. The Cinderella-style twist is clever, but this story isn’t about forever—it’s about desire, choice, and living out a very specific fantasy without apologies. The pacing is fast, the chemistry is hot, and the vibe is exclusive and indulgent from start to finish. It’s not deep or heavy, but it’s definitely entertaining and makes for a spicy, intriguing start to the Lustspur series.
This is a super short novella, only 47 pages. So it moves really fast. The spice in this book is amazing and very well done. I really liked the chemistry they both had. This book will definitely leave you wanting so much more. More depth and insight to who the characters are, where they come from, and on why the male main character is so drawn to the female main character. I hope the next book gives more information on them and is a little longer! The end of this book left me wanting SO MUCH MORE of it. I didn't want it to be over! I can't wait for the second one to come out cause I have to know what happens!!
This was a quick and easy read, and my first by this author. The idea is that there is almost a secret society of men who are able to secretly invite virgins to be wined and dined and then pick a member of their choosing to spend the night with. NDAs, temporary loss of cell-phones, and the clandestine nature of it all had me leaning on the fence of creepy... like this could also easily be the start of a thriller/mystery. Like I said, super short read, incredibly fast-paced plot, like over the course of just a few days. Incredibly racy and steamy. It was ok, and honestly I was super thankful how short it was, I couldn't imagine I would stay hooked for long if it was stretched out.
Fantasy First: Unconditional Love by Racy Rice was such a fun and emotional ride. It blends fantasy elements with real, raw relationship dynamics in a way that feels both escapist and relatable.
The chemistry between the characters pulls you in fast, but what really stood out to me was the emotional depth. The story doesn’t just focus on attraction — it explores trust, vulnerability, and what unconditional love actually looks like when things get complicated. The fantasy aspects add just the right spark without overpowering the heart of the story.
If you love romance with heat, heart, and a touch of magical energy, this one is definitely worth adding to your TBR.
This book was really well written and I absolutely loved the story. It was very fairytale like (obviously) and I liked it.
The characters were thought out pretty well and they were great.
I rated this book a 3 because I honestly wanted more. I wanted a full story. I feel like the back story of the characters could have been explored more and we could have seen their relationship blossom. I could see something better happening here.
Overall, it really was a great book and I enjoyed it a lot.
