BOOK DESCRIPTION

Jonathan Chapel was just a scrawny kid living in a rough neighborhood, trying to keep his sisters safe and fed. When someone takes an unhealthy interest in one of those sisters, Jon is faced with a dilemma. When the local cops work hand in hand with the criminals, and regular folks must hide in terror from the gangs, Jon is forced to take matters into his own hands. This sets off an unlikely chain of events resulting in Jon being recruited into serving the very organization he was trying to fight. The offer is unspoken but join us or die. Jon doesn’t want to die. He’s only eleven years old.

What follows is a baptism in fire, where only his quick reflexes and a superior intellect manage to keep Jon in the fight. He also learns that he might be working for the devil, but there are degrees of evil even hardened killers refuse to condone. Jon also discovers unexpected allies as he continues in his quest to protect those he loves. Faced with adult responsibilities and enemies on every corner, Jon needs all the skill and luck he can muster if he is to have any chance at FIGHTING FREE.

Fighting Free: Book One of Race for Survival by William Allen is a gripping and intense start to a high-stakes action series that follows a young boy forced to grow up far too quickly in a dangerous world.

At the heart of the story is Jonathan Chapel, an eleven year old determined to protect his sisters in a neighborhood dominated by gangs and corruption. When the systems meant to protect ordinary people fail, Jon is pushed into making impossible choices that lead him into the orbit of a powerful and morally ambiguous organization.

Allen crafts a fast-paced narrative filled with tension, danger, and moments of unexpected humanity. Jon’s intelligence, quick reflexes, and fierce loyalty make him a compelling protagonist as he navigates a world where survival requires both courage and difficult compromises.

Dark, emotional, and action driven, Fighting Free sets the stage for a larger saga of survival, loyalty, and the constant struggle between right and wrong. Readers who enjoy gritty, character driven thrillers will find themselves eager to follow Jon’s journey as the series unfolds.

Now I can't wait for the next one

Really well developed characters. Good story and not a ton of profanity. I see real parallels to what's really going on in today's American.
