‘Success is the result of intention not chance’ – words of wisdom

Dubai author Rickson Dsouza is known as the ‘Family Guy Life Insurance Advisor’ as well as being a highly regarded financial advisor and founder of Successio Academy, The Advisors Growth Program. As he has stated, ‘Most financial advisors are trained to build a network. But I didn’t build a network, I built relationships…Take CONTROL isn’t the finish line - it’s an invitation to help advisors build a life where they can grow exponentially without burning out.’ And while his book is imperative for financial advisors, the information is equally important for us all to take control of our career and our life. The book’s title - The Take C.O.N.T.R.O.L Model – Clear goals, Ownership. Numbers. Tactics, Right-Fit clients, Obsession, Life – creates a masterclass in intentional growth. ‘Your next breakthrough isn’t a matter of luck—it’s a matter of control. Take it.’

Dsouza delivers his experience and recommendations in such a winsome, accessible manner that this book becomes invaluable to all. As he wisely summarizes, ‘What I want you to take back from this book is this: There is immense power, clarity, and focus that comes from identifying your niche market, committing to one game, getting to know your playing field, and then locking your goalpost. In my experience, the moment you cut out the noise and distractions, swap short-term gains for long-term wins, and choose to become a true master of your craft, you will surpass your wildest dreams.’ Short in length, but long in useful advice, this book is a treasure map! Highly recommended

A Practical Roadmap to Taking Control...

Take Control reads less like a motivational speech and more like solid, practical advice from someone who's actually been there. Rickson Dsouza writes with clarity and keeps things real, blending mindset, discipline, and actionable strategy into a framework that feels genuinely useful rather than just theoretical. The focus on ownership, measurable progress, and intentional decision-making keeps everything grounded without overcomplicating things.

What I liked most is how usable the advice actually is. It's direct and gets to the point—helping you line up your income goals with what you genuinely care about while pushing you to keep improving at what you do. If you're in commission-based work, especially as a financial advisor, this book will speak to you. It's a solid, no-nonsense read that's all about putting in consistent effort and taking responsibility, not chasing quick wins. Highly recommend.

A useful and effective guide

Take Control by Dsouza is a helpful, step-by-step guide for anyone who wants to manage, secure, and achieve a good financial future. In theory, it's aimed at those who work on commission and want to help their clients create a business that aligns with their dreams. The reality is that we all want that at some point, and we can do it directly or through an intermediary, and having knowledge about it is always beneficial. Furthermore, the way the book is written makes this a reality. Despite its specialized content, the writing style makes it easy to understand. I really appreciate how Dsouza, the author, shares his experiences, strategies, and realities to demonstrate that what's written is possible, achievable, and facilitates significant changes with very positive consequences, contributing to the success of anyone who wants to transform their financial world or create a business that meets their expectations.

Taking control also means taking responsibility

This book makes it clear that professional growth does not happen by luck or by waiting for the perfect moment. It shows that results change when a person decides to take responsibility for decisions, time, and numbers. What stood out to me is that it does not focus only on making more money, but on doing so with order, focus, and purpose. The author points out that many advisors work hard but lack clear direction, which often leads to frustration. The reflection that remains is simple but powerful, no one is going to take control of your career for you. In my view, the book encourages a more disciplined approach to work, measuring what is done, and building habits that last over time. In the end, real growth begins when a person stops reacting and starts deciding.

This book felt less like learning something new and more like being reminded of standards I had slowly stopped applying. The chapter on ownership reinforces the idea that results follow attention and effort, without leaving space for excuses. Responsibility depends entirely on the individual. The section on knowing your numbers supports that message by tying control to concrete facts. Being aware of income, expenses, and savings removes ambiguity and forces clearer decisions. I appreciated how the book links financial behavior to everyday life choices, showing how money influences commitments, priorities, and limits even when finances are not the main issue. By the end, I felt more demanding of myself, particularly around spending and planning. The book didn’t make me want more, it made me want to manage better what I already have.

Loved this book!

This is the type of book I would read to get that push back into life where everything seems stagnant. Although there may not be anything really profound about it, it has such an honest and straightforward feel to it. He focuses on being responsible, disciplined, and having the correct mindset, which goes along with his belief that we have the ability to control most things in life if we are willing to put forth the effort. I like that he keeps the book very direct and uncomplicated, avoiding the use of technical terms or complex terminology; instead, he simply gets right to the point without getting bogged down with unnecessary details. There is nothing super deep or philosophical in the book; in fact, one of the reasons why I think it is so effective is because there is nothing super deep or philosophical in the book. In essence, it is a motivating no-excuses book that encourages you to take action NOW rather than procrastinating.

What does it mean to take control of one’s finances in a meaningful and lasting way? It’s obviously important, but you can’t truly understand how much it impacts virtually every facet of your life until you can manage it. Unfortunately, having total control of one’s financial destiny is not a place that many ever get to.

You can change that by reading this book and implementing the tips and financial strategies the author writes about. He has pioneered and mastered a system that should allow you to make sound, diversified investments and to thrive in the business world as well. Written from a financial advisor’s perspective, it is perfectly accurate to describe this book as life-changing, provided you have the courage and fortitude to follow the author’s advice to the letter.

The Power of Value

I felt so encouraged after finishing this book. In just one hundred pages, I think any entrepreneur or team leader has everything they need to start or improve their business. On every page I read, I felt like: 'What are you really waiting for to be better in your company?'.

In times where most of us are desperately believing that we need a bunch of clients to be successful, the author wrote an outstanding chapter, in my opinion, talking about “the power of 'right-fit' clients”. That chapter blew my mind. Because it not only focuses on seven very easy and useful steps to follow, but the author also stands out the importance of investing in value instead of volume.

I read Take Control by Rickson Dsouza with the perspective of a true story from someone who has experienced firsthand what many only observe from the outside: success. I can say that what captivated me most was his honesty. The author, one of Dubai's leading life insurance advisors, shares, without filters, the system that allowed him to transform his professional life: the CONTROL method. Rickson emphasizes the importance of taking complete control: defining clear goals, thoroughly understanding the business's financials, designing smart tactics, and focusing on the right clients.
It's definitely a book with a genuine call to action. It's full of real-life examples, relatable reflections, and mindset shifts. Recommended.

What a challenging message that “Take control” leaves to readers. Rickson Dsouza has penned the ideal guide for leaders, advisors or people who want to make a shift in their lives and take control of their future and finances.
It’s more like a guide that entices people to leave their comfort zone, make a change in their mindsets and build a business on their own. No bosses, no leaders above, just you and your ideas to make the most of the future. As the book mentions, success is never an accident, people should work to get it.
Along the pages, the writer includes real strategies to implement and also anecdotes that show other people’s success. It's definitely a wake-up call book. I recommend it.

I loved this book!

I highly recommend this book; I find it essential for success in commission-based careers. I've read several books on this topic, and I find this one truly practical and clear—so much so that I consider it a guide for achieving our future goals as commission-based professionals. I particularly appreciate its clarity in focusing on objectives, fostering accountability, and establishing values aligned with personal values. I also greatly value how this book doesn't solely focus on the financial rewards of hard work, but also emphasizes the importance of providing excellent customer service. Without a doubt, this is a book I highly recommend, as it offers valuable insight into what it means to be a top professional in this field.

I liked reading Take Control because it feels practical and honest. The book is about how financial advisors can grow their income and feel more confident at work. The author talks about mindset, planning, and building better client relationships. While reading, I thought about a friend who works in finance and often feels stuck. This book reminded me of our talks over coffee about goals and balance. I enjoyed the simple examples and clear advice. It did not feel too heavy or confusing. One evening, I read a chapter and felt motivated to organize my own finances a bit better. The tone is friendly and encouraging, like a coach who wants you to win. I think this book is useful for advisors and also for anyone who likes learning about money and growth.

Great book

Take Control is an excellent resource for financial advisors that feel stuck and that are not growing. Rickson Dsouza merges mindset techniques with actionable business habits, like clarifying goals, keeping tabs on essential metrics, refining client profiles, and establishing a consistent weekly routine. I particularly appreciated the tone it is written, it’s straightforward but never comes off as preachy, and the stories within the book make the lessons feel authentic rather than just theoretical. The chapters are nice and brief making it easier to integrate just one new idea at a time. There's a little repetition, but this repetition strengthens the execution of those ideas. For anyone seeking straightforward systems, this book certainly delivers.

This book proves that it is possible.

Although I don't work on commission, there are many times when I feel stuck in my goals. This book helped me a lot personally, because with all its advice, it gives us a lot of options for approaching our daily lives in a completely different way, one that is well on the path to success. I really highlight the idea of “obsession” or passion in the book, because when this does not exist, it is very difficult to move forward. I feel that the same thing happens to me with my business; when I find that passion, things flow.
The book is very useful for any professional; it helps you change your mindset to progress at different levels and forget about stagnation.

A good read
“Take control” is a great tool for people who were born to be leaders, not followers. I have always been a person who likes to work alone and be in control of everything so I highly recommend “Take control” by Rickson Dsouza.
In this book, Rickson shares his experience as an advisor, his ups and downs and offers a system to help readers become successful in your business. He gives tools to look for that business that aligns with your idea of life. There are experiences that he has included to show that success is a matter of control, not luck. The importance is to work hard and always chase your dreamed life. I think that it gives a positive and encouraging message to readers.

Take Control by Rickson Dsouza is a tactical guide for financial advisors looking to scale with purpose. Readers will appreciate how grounded and actionable the CONTROL system is; it offers a clear path to measurable growth. Rickson speaks from experience, and it shows. His stories of struggle, hustle, and eventual breakthrough are relatable and inspiring, especially for those navigating commission-based careers. The mix of mindset shifts and concrete steps makes this book a solid playbook, not just a pep talk. It’s like having a mentor who actually walks the talk. Anyone tired of spinning their wheels in sales or finance will find clarity, structure, and motivation here. Highly recommended for advisors who are done with mediocrity and ready to level up on their own terms.

Take Control by Rickson Dsouza really catched my attention. It’s not one of those books that tells you to just work harder and hope for the best. Instead, it explains why working harder can actually be the reason people feel stuck. While reading it, I kept thinking about how many professionals I know who are busy all day but still feel exhausted and unsatisfied.

I loved the idea of shifting your mindset from being self-employed to being a real business owner. That part really clicked for me. I’ve seen people, and even felt it myself at times, where you can’t step away for a day because everything depends on you. The book made me realize that if a business falls apart when you stop working, then you don’t really own a busines, you own a job.

It was really interesting

I discovered Rickson Dsouza's Take Control, & I gotta say, it was really interesting, very motivating! Sure, it's aimed at finance folks, yet those concepts on discipline, mindset & that long-term planning stuff? Easy to grasp, truly useful for anyone. Dsouza talks about controlling your habits, your goals, the strategies and how they build up over time, not only money stuff but how your confidence grows too. Okay, some parts were a little bit techie for me because I don’t have any context in the field but the main thing it's very clear & inspiring. Really, this book makes you think about your future and take more ownership of those choices.

I read this book while I was working hard but not really sure about my direction. The thing that I enjoyed most was how the author explained his system for taking control of his future in a very open approach. It feels authentic, and you can see it worked for him.

Reading this book really helped me put my goals in order, look at my numbers straighter, and take more responsibility for what I do every day. Seeing how Rickson changed his life and work actually made me want to take control of my own future. I think if I use the ideas properly, it can help a lot with my planning and work with clients. A highly recommended reading.

I picked this one because it looks like a good book to improve my finances and I think it helped. It felt encouraging and very motivational. I like that the book emphasizes the daily habits, owning personal responsibilities and consistency over this world of quick everything. Its a very down to earth book in a sense that is real and easy to follow.

The control framework that the author shares helps a lot to understand how everything connects to building a sustainable career. Another thing I liked is the real life examples, which feel more approachable.

To sum up, a great book guide for anyone looking to get better on the financial aspect and build a strong income.

Excellent advice

This book addresses a series of needs that have arisen in my work such as how we can improve from a strategic perspective.
The book is presented as an additional skill, a way to show those who feel frustrated by numbers how to find new, more efficient, and more effective ways of doing things. With a series of very specific recommendations, the author encourages us to renew our mindset, take a step back, and work on ambitious but renewed goals, identify the techniques that will lead us to success, and then begin to do so with unparalleled passion. Are you ready for a journey of renewal? Go ahead, this book is quite an experience.

Aiming for success is key; the most important part is recognizing that the process is the most valuable aspect. We are used to seeing the outcome, the finish line, and tend to forget what it takes to reach it. This book was a valuable reminder and a great invitation to take control of the process and build a career that will end in success and extraordinary results. I really like the vision of the author because his experience brings a doable, actionable plan that connects with your purpose and leads to great success. With this guide, you will feel supported and will never regret reading it.

It doesn’t pretend growth is easy or glamorous

I picked up Take Control expecting a pretty standard business or sales book, but it ended up being much more personal and grounded than I thought it would. Rickson Dsouza writes like someone who’s actually been through the grind and remembers what it felt like to struggle. That made a big difference for me. He talks openly about pressure, discipline, and the kind of consistency most people avoid.
