West Siblings #2

Running Out of Road

Rate this book
Theo West is running out of road. Finishing the bucket list his late brother left behind seemed simple enough—until he reaches the final stop. Vermont. The place filled with memories he’s spent years trying to outrun. With only a cryptic clue to guide him and a drinking habit he’s pretending isn’t a problem, Theo heads back into the nostalgia, heartbreak, and unfinished business waiting in Nettles.

Daisy Campbell is hiding. From herself, her friends and family, and from the ex-husband she left behind before retreating back to Nettles, Vermont. After losing everything, she’s rebuilt her life around her new boutique and a promise to put herself first. But when a familiar face appears on her doorstep with a mysterious letter, the careful routine she relies on begins to crack.

Their plan is simple: keep their lives separate. Help each other where they can. Avoid the sparks neither of them has the strength to entertain. But the roads in Nettles have a way of crossing when you least expect it, and soon, Theo and Daisy find themselves drawn together by grief, history, and the hope that they aren’t as broken as they once believed.

And suddenly, neither of them wants the road ahead to run out.

“In every life, I know I’ll find my way back home, in whatever form it decides to come in, but the one I’m living in now is by far my favorite.”

this story follows theo west, who is on the road to finishing his late brother’s bucket list that he left behind for him, until he reaches his final stop, vermont, the place that he has been trying to outrun and forget about the memories he’s had in this place. even though this place is filled with heartbreak and nostalgia, he’s determined to continue this bucket list and decides to head to nettles. here enter daisy campbell, who is hiding from everyone, especially after leaving her ex-husband, and decides to retreat back to her home in nettles. after she lost everything, she is determined rebuild her life and put herself first. however, when a familiar face comes on her doorstep, and her routine is definitely out of order. they planned to just help each other where they can and keep their life separate, however they can’t seem to resist the spark they have…

OF COURSE ANOTHER INCREDIBLE READ FROM EMILY!! this was so so incredible, i loved every single aspect of this book, i cried, i laughed, i blushed(theo’s mouth🤭), and i cried once again because it was just THAT good!! first, i need to talk about theo and daisy! theo is battling with his grief of his brother, and through this you read about his experience with grief and how everyday is a battle in itself to not miss his sibling, it was so incredibly heartbreaking to read about him and his pathway in grieving. daisy, is rebuilding her life after her relationship with her ex-husband, and you see her battling her issues with this relationship and how she’s always felt like she was never truly loved by anyone, and just wanted that type of love in her life. these two together were so incredibly heartbreaking beautiful together i just wanted to cry the entire book (in a good way!!) the angst, the chemistry, their deep love for each other was so so incredible. lastly, i MUST talk about the epilogue because it was SO SO GOOD!!! this was the most perfect incredible way to end this duology but also this world in the west siblings and hart sisters family!! these books have been a comfort for me because i just love these characters so much, but i am also so excited for the new stories emily will write!!

also wanted to add an honourable mention: nico is in this book!!! i love this man so so much i need a book about him please🙏

so happy to be apart of the tudorverse team and thank you emily so much for the eARC!!

So excited to read about Theo’s book 🥹

• • •

This was such a beautiful end to the duet. The way Emily writes is so touching and I love how her books connect in one way or another which allows us to be so immersed with the whole “Tudorverse”.

I am a sucker for childhood friends to lovers and this book did not disappoint! There is nothing to hate about Theo and Daisy. It also gave me a new perspective on how love is perceived—how you should always strive to be the best version of yourself for your person even if it means giving each other the time and space to do so.

Love love looveee! Also, been constantly doting on Emily to write Brooks and Eloise’s next 🤣

ARC reader here! I’m so incredibly grateful to have had the chance to receive this copy. It's been so long since I've enjoyed a book this much, much less one that made me cry so much from page one. 🥹
This book truly is everything; it's raw, emotional, yet overflowing with love. Every page overwhelmed me in the best possible way. My emotions were running high while I read it, and the tears flowed freely. I can't help but congratulate the author on such magnificent writing because, honestly, it's been a very long time since a book has touched me so deeply. I felt every ounce of pain, grief, anguish, worry, resilience, and courage that the characters carried, and if that doesn't tell you enough, then I don't know what will!!!

Their journey of self-improvement to become the best versions of themselves is something I will carry with me. It's admirable, and it was a very good and accurate representation of the grief they each experienced in their own way. I will definitely carry Theo and Daisy in my heart. They are an inspiring and wonderful couple in their own imperfect way. I love how almost humanly palpable their pain was in every chapter. 😭🤍

I can't wait for more people to read them and carry their story with them, as I know I will from now on. I'm sure that when I see a camera, I'll think of Theo, or when I'm doing my makeup, I'll think of Daisy's passion for it. These little things show how good a book is, and this one is definitely worth it! 🫂

I have finally finished this book and I say it like that because this was really honestly hard for me to read and not because it wasn’t good, but because the things that happen in this book are hard to read, especially if you have lost somebody whether it’s too suicide or not reading Theo go through his grieving process of loss of somebody who is his favorite person and not knowing what he could’ve done to change that outcome and never been able to know if there was any help for him on his side was hard to read. Suicide is always a touchy subject for a lot of people and whenever I personally read a book about a sibling loss a family member loss, a twin loss or any type of family loss it’s a little bit of a sore subject and I don’t hate it, but they’re always hard to get through. I did love the connection the tension, the banter, the other person in the relationship showing up for whoever was in need at that moment because they were struggling, they needed somebody in their corner and the other person at that moment whether it was Daisy or Theo were there for the other one. And I loved the analogy of finding a different way to climb the tree and it’s OK if you run out of road, there’s always a new different way to get to where you’re going. You just have to find another way and I really did enjoy that. The book was very good. It hits hard. It really does and especially when you finally read what Tobias left for everybody that letter honestly destroyed me that had me full on sobbing. But a sidenote that I do want to say I don’t think I’ve ever read a Book with the female main character being a makeup artist… And I loved that because I’m a hairstylist to makeup artist and seen that career choice be a big one for the female main character just resonated with me, especially everything that she was going through at the time… And Theo just being there for her and just being like you you’re amazing you’re wonderful. You’re beautiful sometimes you just really need that in your corner… And vice versa Daisy doing the exact same thing for Theo, telling him how amazing he was how proud she is of him what he does to her and for her how he makes her feel then both coming up with the reasons or example examples of what his home to them… Oh, fuck that just hit really hard one thing I will say was for this being a really big like family oriented book. The mom really wasn’t in it that much and like I’m not saying that she has to be, but every other character from all of the other books were in it but the mom and this one she really wasn’t especially when he came back for Christmas. She wasn’t really in that and I thought that was a little weird but other than that this book I really enjoyed a lot. It was hard to get through. It was but just because that was an emotional struggle for me. I do really hope, though that Delilah Brooks Eloise Elliott, the Madison siblings and all of the people in nettles can get a book series because I’m fucking invested man I need a story from Vermont with all of those people oh my God, please

What a gorgeous way to wrap up the West Siblings duology (and to say goodbye to some of my favorites from the Hart Sister’s duology too)! Theo and Daisy’s love story was an emotional roller coaster in the best way, and to its core a story of healing. The story was raw, real, and perfectly captured the messiness and beauty of what it means to be alive!

I love immersing myself into the cozy small town of Nettles,Vermont. It made for the perfect backdrop for Theo and Daisy’s love story ! Watching Daisy’s growth and her confidence in herself blossom after her divorce was so beautiful to read. Her resilience made her a character that I instantly fell in love with. Theo’s journey of working through his grief over the course of the book was heartbreaking and powerful and reminds us that path to healing is never linear. I love watching them slowly open up to one another and seeing them slowly learn to be vulnerable with each other. Theo and Daisy’s had beautiful chemistry and plenty of swoon worthy moments that made for a story I’ll never forget!

first of all, thank you to emily for an advanced copy of this for an honest review. it’s an honor to be apart of the tudorverse team.

let’s get into this review now!

this book was far more than just a love story—it was a deeply emotional journey through theo and daisy’s seperate heartbreak, healing, and second chances. emily tackles difficult topics, like always, with honesty, and creates characters that feel real, flawed, and incredibly human.

if you enjoy romances that have the love story alongside very real-life struggles, this book is definitely worth picking up. it’s a reminder that even after loss and heartbreak, we can still find their way back to love.

also a cameo from a very special someone 👀

3.75/5 ✰ (arc) this was such a good ending to this found family universe!! i highlighted a lot of quotes when theo or daisy were explaining their grief and ideas of love & family. you could tell they both cared for each other & wanted to solve their own problems before fully committing into a relationship.

i did feel like some moments felt very repetitive and the writing was a bit more telling than showing; i wanted a bit more from the side characters tbh like i felt like some things weren't explained as much as i was hoping them to be!

it was also fun seeing cameos from other characters (hello grant??? and famous author henry??) and i'll always read anything emily writes!

Holy moly... I don't even know where to begin. I love all these characters and this whole world. I related so much to Daisy in ways and she was such a breath of fresh air. I loved seeing Theo grow to become a better version of himself. This world is unlike anything I've ever read and I will cherish these characters forever. I want to say so much more but I'll keep this short:)

ARC Review — This was a 2 ⭐️ read. I had very high expectations for this read, but it kind of fell flat for me.
I was very excited to start the story of Theo and Daisy. The teasers that were given were made me very excited to start because the premise sounded really different and interesting.
I enjoyed the dynamic around sibling expectations. I really liked the showing of the mindset at the beginning of “I’m going through hell, but they’re not, because they’re stronger than me.” That felt relatable and emotionally interesting.
However, the book is very character-driven, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but there wasn’t much of a balance. It felt like about 90% of the story focused on Daisy and Theo’s individual lives rather than the characters actually interacting. I love a good slow burn just like the next, but this didn’t feel like a slow burn between the characters — it felt more like watching two separate storylines unfold side by side. And I wasn’t emotionally invested in the characters. I liked them, but I didn’t have the love for them because they felt very two-dimensional to me.
As the story went on, I started getting bored because of the repetition. Certain thoughts kept circling back in ways that felt unnecessary, which made parts of the book feel longer than they needed to be.
Theo’s storyline was also questionable to me. The book discusses his alcoholism, but the way it was handled felt very novel-based and unrealistic. Something else I didn’t quite understand was why Theo put his life on hold to finish Tobias’s wishes. His family kept saying they wanted to see him more, but it sounded like he was constantly going on hunts back-to-back. It made me wonder why he didn’t just take a break.
Daisy’s side of the story had some parts that stood out like the letter she received from Tobias. It was ominous and honestly a bit creepy, which I did find interesting. At first, I wasn’t a fan of Brooks and Daisy’s storyline. Later, it became clear it wasn’t meant to be an additional full storyline with her, but that also made me question why it was included in the first place.
I do like the mystery/thriller concept overall, but compared to the author’s other books, the problem felt very similar to previous ones. Because of that, it ended up feeling a bit repetitive rather than fresh, which took away some of the excitement for me.
I would like to thank the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.5/5 ★

This was such a beautiful ending to the duology and Tobias's loss hit me all the same as I read through this book. Emily's take on addressing and exploring grief was presented so beautifully in this book and I really felt for Theo.

With Tobias's passing, Theo, our MMC, is sent on a trip per Tobias's last request to collect letters that he had left behind. This leads him to Vermont where our FMC, Daisy, resides after her recent divorce from her husband.

Tropes and themes include:
- childhood friends to lovers
- healing journey with both characters
- found family
- forced proximity (they're neighbours)

"My name's Daisy, like the flower."
"My name's Theo, not like the flower."

From the moment they reconnect again it's the sweetest thing seeing how both their moods lift while stuck in turmoil with their personal struggles. It highlights how both characters not only grow apart but grow together as Theo learns to lean on Daisy as he learns to cope with his grief through healthier means, and Daisy learns to love and trust again. Daisy's character was interesting to me as her development went deeper into her not only gaining comfort in trusting and loving Theo but also herself. The use of self-affirmation, such incredible mental health representation with so many difficult themes throughout this entire book! I loved the way Daisy would view her work as a makeup artist and the influence her personal experiences had on her passion. It was even sweeter to see how Theo was the one who supported her when she first discovered the passion as a kid (it's still so cute). Every time Theo spoke, his gestures, I swear I was swoooooning!! When Theo becomes more forward with his feelings for Daisy, I was rooting for them all the way omfg.

And the found family representation- I love the Madisons, I loved getting to read about each of them and about the struggles they each faced. It was just as amazing to see Tristan and Teagen again, I was genuinely so sad the moment I finished solely because I had finished reading it, the epilogue was so sweet and perfect. I'm so excited to see more of the author's future works!

"For him, the end of the line was in Vermont. For Tobias, Vermont was the last place he couldn't find a reason. But for me, it's where I found mine."

I'm really lucky to have received an ARC for this book in exhange for an honest review. Thank you Emily.

Everytime I read one of Emily's book I know I'm going to love the MCs. Theo📷 and Daisy💄 weren't an execption. From the first chapters, I got attached to them. I wanted to hug them both constantly. They were so precious.
Daisy is beautiful inside and out. She was well written and her blossoming was perfect. Watching her go from feeling bad about what makes her her to the confident and radiant person that she was by the end was wonderful.
The same goes for Theo. He evolved so much throughout the book. It was lovely seeing move through his grief but also to see him fight against his addiction. What I liked about this part of the storyline is that we saw that grief and recovery aren't linear. That even though you know and understand that you need to move forward and get better, sometimes we just don't have the immediate answer.
I think this book did well in portraying someone who tries to move forward from a situation, whether it was Daisy (and the smallest man who ever lived) or Theo, but don't know or don't have the strenght to do so. It showed that life gets hard and sometimes the right people come into yours to help you through.
I love seeing their interaction with Daisy's found family and Theo's🤗. I loved when in their inner monolgue they echoed the title of the book. Also the scene with Theo's family were they all mentionned their title (iykyk). There's also some mentions from characters of the other book series, Grand Mountain, that I loved to see (even if I almost missed one🤦🏻‍♀️).

Thanks again to Emily for the opportunity to read this in adavnce. It is always an honor. I can't wait to read what's next.

Spoiler alert :

I liked that near the end they both stepped back from the relationship and took time for themselves to properly heal from their own issues. I think it showed that you need to love yourself and be the perfect version of yourself before fully commiting to a realtionship. That time apart can be a good thing and make you a stronger couple on the long run.

Running Out Of Road focuses on our main characters Theo and Daisy. Let me put the warning that while this book does not contain spoilers for this book, it does include information given from the 1st West Siblings Novel.

Theo is grieving and going through this list of places that his dead brother left for him. Each place is important in some way. Theo is finally at the last location his brother left for him to visit, the family summer home in Vermont. What is it that Tobias could have left him to find here?

Daisy is a newly divorced woman forced to move back into her parent's house in her hometown. Trying to navigate life and just make it through every day without crying. One day, she finds a letter addressed to her at her parent's house from 2 years ago and it's written by none other than Tobias. That's when she realizes that the house across the street, the one her Pennsylvania friends used to inhabit every summer until they randomly stopped, is no longer unoccupied. Could it be Theo over there?

As fate would have it, Theo and Daisy's paths cross one day. Determined not to pull Daisy into his mess, Theo tries to keep her at a safe distance but one night after he drinks too much and Daisy gets him to the hospital in time to save him, Daisy is fully in it.

This story is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Theo is dealing with so much but has failed at truly processing any of the grief he has been dealing with. Will Daisy be the one to help him do that? Will Theo learn to lean on her instead of leaning on the bottle to deal with the pain?

This book does have some trigger warnings, make sure that you read those before continuing. I struggled a little with this book, that could just be because of the fact that I had just finished another story that was also heartbreaking. Make sure to take care of yourself

Who else could pull me out of a slump if not Emily?

For the past three weeks I hadn’t read absolutely anything, and then Emily’s new book came along and I finished it in a single day. And not only did I finish it - I cried my eyes out while reading it. That’s what Emily does best and why I love her books so much: she conveys emotions like very few authors can.

I’ve already gone through Tobias’s loss twice in Tristan and Teagen’s books, and it hurt every single time, but I think this third time officially destroyed me. It physically hurt to see Theo this broken. But that’s exactly why the happy ending felt twice as rewarding in the end.

Besides Theo, whom Emily portrayed and brought to life perfectly, there’s Daisy, who also managed to steal my heart. I loved that through her and her story we got to see the struggle with having a poor self-image - I think that’s something very important for this generation. I do wish we had gotten a few more details during Daisy’s internal struggle, but even as it is, it was handled really well.

Another thing Emily does perfectly in her books is the found family trope, and this book was no exception. Alongside characters we had already met in the previous book and in the Hart Sisters duet, she also made me fall in love with new side characters - so much so that I’d love more than anything to see their stories too, especially Eloise and Brooks.

Why didn’t I give it five stars? It didn’t quite reach The Road Less Traveled By, which is still my favorite Emily book, even though this one came very close.

All in all, if you don’t mind crying your soul out while reading a book, I definitely recommend it.

Thank you Emily for an arc copy and a chance to read it before the release date.

⭐️ARC Review⭐️

Wow — this was a roller coaster of emotions. This is definitely an emotionally heavy read. If you’re sensitive to themes of alcoholism or mentions of suicide, please proceed with caution.

Throughout the book, I loved hearing the stories of Theo and Daisy’s childhood and the adventures they shared together. It helped solidify their relationship as adults.

Daisy is such a sweet girl, so deserving of love and happiness. I loved how she took charge with that first kiss — proof that Theo’s words had exactly the right effect on her. I hated watching what Derek did to her self-esteem. That phone call where he tried to blame everything on her had me furious on her behalf.

Theo, our poor, tortured MMC. He is truly going through the trenches: lost, broken, and holding onto grief for so long that he can’t let it go, using alcohol to numb the pain. Watching him fulfill Tobias’s wishes was a special kind of torture. What I loved, though, is that we get to see both his vulnerability, he feels deeply and isn’t afraid to cry but we also see how strong he can be by doing hard things to help himself grow.

Ehm way Theo worships Daisy and her body?? That first scene between them = 😮‍💨

I loved the found family dynamic that formed between both friend groups. There’s something so special about the way they all come together.

And that moment when Theo and Daisy decide they need to be apart in order to truly be together — it broke my heart. I understood why but I still didn’t like it!

The last few chapters had me in my feels, the letters, the grand gestures, the family meeting. All of it!

Disclaimer: I did receive this book as an arc copy but I am not being paid or encouraged to leave a good review.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. The characters are so beyond
lovable and realistic. It is a romance book but it's so much more than that.
Both main characters have their own lives apart from each other and are processing hard events in their life parallel to the romance plotline. The FMC, Daisy, is processing her recent divorce and everything she went through with her ex-husband. The MMC is processing the death of his brother and his battle with alcoholism. I loved how these characters came together and had a friendship before they had romance. They truly had personalities, lives, and struggles outside of their own romantic relationship.
These characters were flushed out so well and they really had emotional intelligence and empathy for each other and the people around them. It really felt like going into a world and community that existed before the story.
This author was so creative with a lot of the aspects she added to. The "Dicktionary" at the beginning was so funny with all the spicy chapters listed. She also included a playlist with songs for each chapter that were extremely accurate. I also loved her note at the end of the book where she thanked her "smallest man that ever lived".
I don't know much about alcoholism personally, but I do know about grief. This book was extremely validating and accurate in the description of what grief is like. You can really tell how much love, research, and hard work the author put into this story. I will definitely be reading more from Emily in the future

ARC REVIEW
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was the perfect emotional conclusion to the West Siblings duet.

One of the things I appreciated most while reading this story was how real the characters felt. Romance novels often portray characters who seem almost too perfect, but this book does something refreshing — it explores insecurities from both sides.

The story beautifully shows how both women and men carry emotional struggles and self-doubts, and how healing can happen when two people choose to support each other rather than hide those vulnerabilities.

The slow burn romance was incredibly satisfying. The emotional buildup, character growth, and healing journey were handled with care and depth, making the relationship feel natural and earned.

The grief representation also stood out to me. It was portrayed thoughtfully and added meaningful layers to the characters’ development and the overall emotional impact of the story.

By the end, the book provided exactly what I hoped for from the final installment of this duet — a sense of closure, growth, and a deeply satisfying ending.

I’m very grateful to the author and the PR team for giving me the opportunity to read this book as an ARC reader. It was a wonderful experience to be part of this journey.

And while this duet concludes beautifully, I can’t help but hope we might someday see stories for other characters in this world as well.

⭐️ 5 stars.

ARC REVIEW

“My name’s Daisy, like the flower.”
“My name’s Theo, not like the flower.”

6 locations. 6 envelopes. 1 Daisy.

For three years, Theo West has been travelling from Pittsburgh to Vermont to honour his late brother Tobias’s bucket list. At each stop, a white envelope waits for him. His last stop is their summer house in Nettles, Vermont. A house filled with memories he tries to avoid.

Across the street from that house, lives his childhood friend Daisy Campbell. Daisy left Boston and returned to Nettles after divorcing her ex-husband. Moving back to Nettles was supposed to be a fresh start, but a series of events bring back the past she tried to leave behind.

“Running Out of Road” follows Theo West and Daisy Campbell as they navigate their hardships and find a safe space in one another.

There are several aspects of this book that I enjoyed. The growth that Theo and Daisy show throughout this book is admirable. Their choice to better themselves showed great maturity. I appreciate that their personalities do not change and that they just become healthier versions of themselves. I always value a sense of community in a novel and I am pleased that Theo and Daisy have a loving community in both Vermont and Pennsylvania. The epilogue was truly the icing on the cake. Their love was truly worth the wait. There are themes of grief and explicit content in this book.

Thank you Emily Tudor for this ARC.

thank you for the ARC!!

Emily Tudor’s books are truly one of a kind in the way that they fully immerse u into the world, and this book was no different.

although it is a romance, both daisy and theo had so much going on individually that made me love them and root for their happiness, which made the ending all the more satisfying cause of how invested I was into their lives.

not only is their love story amazing, but all the side characters added so much more. reading about characters that I’ve known from the previous books, and even newer characters introduced in Nettles made the experience so much more enjoyable.

Emily killed the small town vibe, and I’m hoping I get to read more about all the characters from Nettles, cause I was just as interested in their lives and Theo’s and Daisy’s

overall, the book brought out so many emotions from me, in classic Emily Tudor fashion. it brought me to both sad and happy tears, and also managed to have me on the edge of my seat so many times.

it was also really bittersweet reading about the Hart Sisters and West Siblings for what hopefully won’t be the last time. seeing them all together is always so fun, and hopefully we’ll get to see more of them and the people in Nettles soon

also loved the quick name drop of a certain someone from the grand mountain series 👀

First, I want to thank Emily for giving me an ARC of her book.

This story follows Theo and Daisy. Theo is struggling with alcohol addiction after the passing of his brother. He finds himself in Neetles, a small town in Vermont where he used to spend his summers, searching for answers and trying to understand the “why” behind everything. Daisy is recently divorced and struggling to find her own place in the world again.

Theo’s book was the most emotional read out of all the books Emily has written so far. It was powerful, raw, and deeply moving.

Emily’s writing has improved so much over time, and this book is proof of that growth. It’s beautifully written and had me emotional from beginning to end.

I’ve now experienced Tobias’s death from three different perspectives, and the way Emily made each one feel completely unique, never repetitive in the slightest. Which just proves her talent as a writer.

The small-town vibes were impeccable, and I can’t wait to see what Neetles has in store for us next.

Emily has created such a beautiful, interconnected world, and seeing those connections unfold left me genuinely shocked. It pains me a little to see this chapter coming to an end.

Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to read this book early. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.

thank you so much Emily Tudor for the e-ARC!!🫶

100% recommend but please check trigger warning as heavy stuff are mentioned throughout the book!!

This was my first Emily Tudor book and won’t be my last!! I honestly read this book purely because I seen the stunning artwork of the 2 main leads and I fell in love🤧

the writing was amazing, it felt so good to read and the plot was plotting!! Loved how it flowed through out the book and I felt like everything tied together and there was no loose ends personally.

One thing about me is that I love family dynamic/found families and I was happy that this book included that!! Now I want to read more books by ET🤭

how Daisy was portrayed was so emotionally deep and it hit way too close to home 🤧 🤧

Now something that I liked a lot about the book is how it dealt with theos recovery, he went to rehab and got better, he didn’t magically get better when Daisy helped him which I find something common in some books so I’m so glad about that aspect!!

The only thing that threw me off a little is that felt confused a little bit by the timeline (I felt like data passed then it was weeks then it was days, so I was confused about how much times passed 🫠) but maybe it’s a me problem since I had such a busy schedule while reading 🥹

First—thank you @authoremilytudor for letting me be part of the ARC team for Running Out Of Road 💚

If you’re looking for an emotional read, Emily is always my go-to.

Theo is running from grief, following his late brother’s final bucket list stop back to Vermont—a place he’s tried to outrun. Daisy, on the other hand, is rebuilding after a divorce that shattered the life she thought she’d have.

Both are broken in different ways—Theo numbs, Daisy rebuilds.

As childhood friends turned neighbors, they slowly find their way back to each other. What starts as quiet support grows into something deeper, in a way that feels soft and earned.

I really appreciated how their healing journeys were handled. Theo’s growth, especially, felt real and un-rushed—and the fact that he begins healing before pursuing Daisy made their connection feel stronger and more grounded.

This is one of those stories where the romance matters—but the healing and personal growth stay with you.

Tropes:
🧩 childhood friends to lovers
🌼 divorced fmc
🧩 mental health representation
🌼 found family
🧩 vermont setting/noah kahan coded
🌼 open door romance

If you love emotional, character-driven romances where two people find their way back to themselves—and each other—this one hits.

What to expect:
•Childhood friends to lovers
•forced proximity
•grief rep
•slow burn
•small town
•Vermont setting
•divorced fmc
•found family

Thoughts:
• loved having the family trees in the front of the book
• The prologue had me crying, among other chapters
• Grief and dealing with it is a huge topic in this book & I thought it was handled well
• Daisy’s ex sucks and is a horrible person

I loved Daisy and Theo together, I felt like they learned from each other and leaned on each other but both took the time to grow and heal on their own. I love getting to know their families more, their friends and Daisy’s hometown. I loved reading their letters to one another & especially the ones from Tobias.

“Nobody deserves to walk through the dark alone and afraid. It’s better with a friend.” Is such an important quote 🥹

If I was to give my heart to someone when I knew I could do it fully and without consequence, it would be her.

“Just because you’re a little broken, doesn’t mean you don’t deserve love.”

•Thank you so much to Emily Tudor for the opportunity to arc read ROOR! This story will be staying in my mind for quite some time. 🤍
