Keep calm, Nicole. You’ve only been abducted by an alien. Nothing to freak out about.

Trapped aboard a ship hurtling through deep space at god-knows-what speed, Nicole does what any sensible horse therapist would—plans her escape. She has no map, no plan that actually works, and zero patience for the arrogant alien who took her. But she’s not giving up until she’s back on Earth, with her friends and her horses.

Any opportunity. Any opening. She’ll take it.

Arture's got himself a handful of trouble when he abducts Nicole, but he's determined to get her to his home planet in one piece for his mission. What his mission is he can't remember, nor can he recall a lot about his past... but that doesn't matter, he has orders he can't disobey.

When their ship is attacked, survival forces Arture and Nicole to work together… and the line between enemy and ally starts to blur. The more they pretend to trust one another, the more real it becomes.

But the closer they get, the more dangerous the truth becomes.

Because when Arture finally remembers who he is—and his deadly mission—Nicole’s heart will be the price of his obedience.

One impossible truth He was never meant to love her, but now he can’t let her go.

🔥 A sizzling sci-fi romance dripping with slow-burn tension that will leave you breathless, featuring a caring, exiled alien and a determined human heroine. Perfect for fans of Ruby Dixon and Honey Phillips (for fast-paced plot) with Emma Hamm vibes (angsty slow burn with lots of tension and adventure). Featuring a cocky alien, forced proximity, DV survival rep and boss babes who refuse to back down. 🔥

Trigger Domestic violence discussed, torture flashbacks, strict culture, mention of suicide, death and execution, fantasy peril, on page sex. No cheating.

Lots of longing looks and alien appendages ;)

Proclamation and promise to I want to state for the record that I don't use generative AI AT ALL; I use Google docs to draft, ProWritingAid to help catch Echoes and Repeats (not any of the AI stuff that they're peddling, so whilst I have a lifetime licence with PWA, I do not use their AI tools and will move away once a cost effective non-AI alternative is available), human beta readers, a human editor Dana's Edits , a human proofreaders, a software called Vellum (NOT Vellum AI, completely different) to format the ebooks and paperbacks, and my covers for this series come from Miblart . I want humans to create and enjoy art; I wouldn't expect you to enjoy anything I couldn't be bothered to write myself, and I enjoy stretching my skills as an author. 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ & 2🌶️🌶️. I enjoyed this book but maybe not as much as the previous instalments. What I did love was how this story kind of tidied up a few things I wanted to know about Oloria and the clones.

I like that through Arture’s unique abilities we see the strengths and struggles of each clone. I am so intrigued however by all the breadcrumbs of unfinished business in this.

Like where did those humanoids come from, from that planet?

What is the leadership up to?

What happened to Oloria? Was it decimated by a war but we don’t have all the facts yet do we? Why do they know above English as a variation of the standard language? There must be a reason for that.

Did the seamingly nearby human settlement have anything to do with it? Was Oloria originally a humanoid settlement and are the aliens the true invaders? I have so many needs from this world and I can’t wait to explore them some more!

& Lots of longing looks and alien appendages! As also I got what I was expecting a fun alien-abduction story with a slow-burn romance, and it totally delivered—plus it hit me with more emotion than I expected😭. UTR focuses around the FMC Nicole & MMC Arture! Put into forced proximity situations etc. I loved that we know Nicole is a Horse Therapist (i didnt know that was an actual thing? Thank you google lol!!) You can sense she carries that kind of calm, practical energy straight into getting dragged across the galaxy by a smug alien who can’t remember half his life. She’s smart, stubborn, quick on her feet, and absolutely refuses to just accept what’s happening to her. I found myself rooting for her from page one. She’s capable, she’s snarky when she needs to be, and she has a quiet strength that makes her so easy to love, and I really did love her lol. She has such sas! Her backstory involving D0mestic V!olence that to me (with it being a touchy subject) is handled respectfully by Bea, so much so you feel real and meaningful emotions, and can relate to the character with how she in such a way let's her define her to a degree but not fully.Arture is everything I want in a sci-fi MMC: confident, a little full of himself, and slowly unraveling because this human woman refuses to play along. 😂 - dude, deal with it 🤣. The memory-loss angle worked well—he’s basically forced to question everything he’s ever known, including why he’s suddenly drawn to Nicole. The forced proximity on the ship setup was perfection. Lots of loaded silence, lingering looks, and that addicting “I don’t trust you, but I need you” tension. And when danger hits and they have to rely on each other, the shift from enemies to uneasy allies to omg this is something much more, was so satisfying.
And the slow burn? SO GOOD. 🤌🏻 It stays simmering for ages before finally engulfing into an inferno , and when it does, the spice is explicit, creative (alien anatomy fans, you’ll be fed 😉), and still really emotional!!! There’s vulnerability, cultural misunderstandings, heavy memories, and the constant fear of what Arture’s forgotten mission might mean for them.
That “he was never supposed to fall for her” tension in the last part really got me.
The world-building is just right—not too much, not too little. Enough details and big-picture kind of conflict to make things feel real without drowning you in details. The pacing is fast, fun, and sprinkled with genuine emotional beats.
Overall? Loved it. It was exciting, heartfelt, steamy, and just a really enjoyable sci-fi romance. Definitely recommending it—especially if you want something that hits both the swoons and the heartache.

I went into Under the Radar (Outcasts of Oloria Book 4) by Bea Tama expecting a fun alien abduction romp with some slow burn spice, and it absolutely delivered, while also giving me more emotional depth than I bargained for. 💜

Nicole is an absolute delight. As a horse therapist (yes, really), she brings that calm, no nonsense energy to being yanked across the galaxy by a cocky alien with memory issues. Her determination to escape, her quick thinking, and her refusal to just roll over and accept her fate made her a heroine I genuinely rooted for. She’s capable, snarky when needed, and has a backbone of steel, exactly the kind of “boss babe” the blurb promises.
Her backstory with domestic violence is handled with care, it informs her character without defining her, and the survival/trauma rep feels real rather than exploitative.

Arture is the perfect MMC, arrogant, competent, and increasingly undone by this human who refuses to make his mission easy. 😂
The memory loss trope works really well here because it forces him to question his orders and his own identity alongside the growing attraction.
The forced proximity on the ship is done right, lots of charged silences, lingering looks, and that delicious “I shouldn’t trust you but I have no choice” tension.
When the ship comes under attack and they have to team up, the shift from wary enemies to reluctant allies to something deeper was on point.

The slow burn is 🤌🏻🤌🏻. It simmers for a long time before igniting, and when it does, the spice is explicit, creative (those alien appendages get their due 😉), and emotionally connected.
The author balances the steam with real vulnerability, flashbacks, cultural clashes, and the looming dread of Arture’s forgotten mission all add weight to the romance. The “he was never meant to love her” angst hits hard in the final act without overdoing it.

I thought the world building had enough detail about Oloria and the larger conflict to feel immersive without info dumping. It’s a fast paced adventure with strong emotional moments.

Overall, this is a strong addition to my alien romance shelf 😉.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely, especially if you’re in the mood for a romance that makes your heart race and ache a little.

It’s a steamy, heartfelt sci-fi romance that delivers on tension, heart, and alien appendages. 😜

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go add the rest of the Outcasts of Oloria series to my TBR

I had such a good time with Under the Radar. This book has everything I personally love in a sci-fi romance: forced proximity, alien abduction chaos, a damaged hero who is much more than he first seems, and a heroine who doesn’t just sit there waiting to be rescued. Nicole had me rooting for her straight away. She’s practical, stubborn, funny, and her vet background actually matters to the story, which I loved. Arture was definitely the standout for me, though. He’s cocky, broken, loyal, a little unhinged, and weirdly sweet in the moments that matter. Their banter was fun, the chemistry built nicely, and the emotional thread beneath the heat gave the romance more weight than I expected.
While I really enjoyed the world, the clone politics, the danger, and the bigger series plot, a lot is going on. At times, the romance felt slightly crowded by everything else happening around it. I personally would have loved a little more space for Nicole and Arture’s emotional fallout, especially around the abduction and the later high-stakes moments, because that’s where the book was strongest for me. Still, this was a fun, addictive, emotional alien romance with a brilliant concept, a memorable hero, and a world I’d happily return to (or even live in lol).

Another fabulous book! Under the Radar is book 4 in the series and I have to say it's my favourite.

Arture and Nicole are just the best! I love they have 'enhancements' and work through trauma together. It's just everything. Plus there's a bit of spice and a lot of slow burn.... Bea knows how to keep us on the edge and hooked on those pages.

The ending is everything and then there's a page from the All Mother and now I need to know what's next!

An amazing read and brilliant series..

Thanks to Bea and Beth from Wings and Words for my ARC. This is my honest review.
