Well, I don't say this very often, but i have to say that this sequel dEaDINBURGH: Alliances surpasses the original. (dEaDINBURGH: Vantage.

Alliences jumps straight into the action, continuing where vantage left off. Joey and Alys are now armed with the truth after tracking Bracha down to the hospital where Somna and his Army protect and then being contacted by Joeys obnoxious biological father from the outside world.

Alys's neice (horribly mutilated by Bracha in Vantage) has ran away and is considered dead by her family, whist Joey, Alys and her mother Jennifer set out on a mission to contact as many survivors and community's and try to convince them to return with them to the sanctuary that has been made of Edinburgh castle.

We are reunited with old friends, like the children who have been holed up in a hospital for decades, casting out their brethren as they turn 18 and we meet new people Like James Kelly, one time friend of Bracha, currently infiltrating Somna's ever growing army and (as it turns out) a long lost uncle to Alys and the father to the missing Stephanie.

Its James who informs Alys and Joey that Somna's army have been instructed to march through the encased city to kill all survivors.
Somna's army is a psychotic but slick killing machine whose numbers far outweigh anything that Joey, Alys and Jenny can recruit. But with the help of another new character, Tricia and inspired by a message from his dead mother Joey (and Alys) set about concocting an all or nothing defence from their castle.
With the oncoming menace of Somna's army and the added threat of an army of the ringed, this sequel flies along at a breathtaking pace and culminates in a tense climatic battle of Epic proportions, with death, mutilations and surprises galore.
As with book 1, after reading this I immediately bought the next in the series and got stuck into it right away as I now find i need a nightly fix of Joey Alys ....and even Bracha!

Thoroughly recomended!

I was fortunate enough to be contacted by the author and offered a copy of the second Deadinburgh novel with absolutely no obligation to review the book. I couldn't pass up the chance as I really enjoyed the first book after stumbling upon it on an Amazon browse-a-thon. The first book was one of the few books I've written a review for due to the concept and execution of the content.

I don't want to chance giving anything away, so I'm not going to divulge any aspects of the plot. It continues from the first book and rattles along at a fair pace. So much happens, there's always the desire to read one more chapter as the plot develops so quickly. In fact, if I had to make one negative comment...I felt at times, a bit more time could have been taken to enjoy some of the ideas more (I understand an author walks a fine line between moving the action along getting dogged with details)...but it's probably that I wanted to spend more time with the characters which is always a good sign.

I'm really keen to read the third book too, which I understand will be a prequel...however I do hope that there are more books to come from the Deadinburgh Universe....it's tiring getting up for work in the morning when the book that you couldn't put down keeps you up until the back of two because every time you decide to try and sleep, your eyes keep flitting open and you kid yourself, "Maybe another chapter or two will help send me off."
Aye...sure. Tiring perhaps, but I do love it when a book hooks me in like that.

Great stuff and both books so far highly recommended.

I was contacted by the author to read his book with no obligation to leave a comment.

I read the first book in this series and was so excited when I got the second one. I needed to know what was happening with Joey and Alys. This book was well written and really tied up a lot of loose ends. This was an entertaining read that I could not put down, it has a lot of action in it and of course some Ringed killings (as any Zombie book should have). I am hoping there will be more to come in this series and that maybe Joey and Alys will have a romantic story line LOL.

Cant get enough!

This series, is just, AWESOME! I love the mix of types of zombies, different groups of living, and psychos! The added twist, that we learned about at the end of book 1, the t.v. show, is cool as hell! I love the characters! Great writing! On to the next!

I loved - no - I was obsessed with the first book Vantage! Nothing beats a good zombie story, throw in some epic plot twists, and I am sold!

I can not really talk about what Alliances is about without majorly spoiling book one. So let me just giving you the basic run down what Deadinburgh is about!

Deadinburgh takes place in the zombie overrun Edinburgh. The city is closed off to the rest of the world. And the zombie infestation is contained within the city walls. It might not sound like much, but there is a major twist in the story. Again wish I could say more, but I would ruin the plot for if I give any more detail!

As it had been almost a year since I read the first book, I wasn't sure if I should reread it or just jump right in! I decided to start reading book two right away. And it speaks volume of how much I enjoyed Deadinburgh Vantage and the talent of the author, as I picked up on the story with no problems. And Mr. Wilson was very subtle with the recaps. Nothing turns me more off than endless recaps in book series!

And just as in Vantage, Alliances storyline progresses at a neck-breaking pace that will have your head spinning. I just could not put it down! The characters all stayed true to themselves. Besides Stephanie, but her development probably brought her up a notch or two on favorite lists!

At one point there is a Walking Dead reference - very cleverly done, and it had me laughing! But, and the reason Deadinburgh Alliances only gets 4 out of 5-star reviews from me - NOT ENOUGH ZOMBIE ACTION!!!! If I read a book about a zombie infested city, I want zombies, and I want lots of them!

Honestly, while reading, I did not even noticed the absence of my brain eating friends. I was that engrossed in the story. But when I set down to draft my review and I tried to think of what I did not like about the book that did pop into my mind!

Deadinburgh Alliances releases on March 23rd! Shortly followed by the 3rd book Origins on April 25th, which is going to be a prequel! I can not wait to read about how it all started!

Dear Mr. Wilson, please tell me there will be more books! The story still has so much potential, and I need more of Joey and Alys in my life!

Thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book. I've been just itching to read it since the first book ended!!

This is an incredible sequel but I didn't love it quite as much as dEaDINBURGH: Vantage. The twist and reveal in that one was one of the best and it's got to be hard to out-do something that good. This book only gets a lowly 4.5 stars because I can't rate it as high as the first.

I was hoping at the end of the first that this sequel would be the story of how Joey and Alys got out, told the world what happened, were rescued and were the saviors of their people. That wasn't quite how it went but things did happen on a grand scale. I can't spoil it for those of you as eager to read it as I was, but I will say that it was worth the wait. And now I have to wait again for the next but this time it's a prequel. I think I'm looking forward to this one even more than the last. I just love the cast of characters Wilson developed and this will let us get to know in greater detail how they all got to where they are.

I loved the first book in this series. Usually second books disappoint me but this one was great! About a third of the way in I did something I never do. I stopped and went back to read the first one again. I couldn't remember everything and I didn't want to miss any details. I was glad I did. This series has it all. Post zombie apocalypse, ingenious culture references and just messed up reality entertainment.

Unfortunately now I'm obsessed with traveling to Scotland. I must see all the places described in the book and Google images are just not enough. This is a great book for teen boys. I have the hardest time finding books that interest that age and are still appropriate. There is quite a bit of violence(duh it's a zombie book) but it wasn't too gory.

I can't wait for the third book! Until then I will have to buy hard copies and share them with my kids and friends. That way I have someone to talk to about how great these books are!!

Ohh my this book has GSS Great Sequel Syndrome.

I got an early copy of the book from the writer.

In book one Alys and Joey find out that their lives are based on a lie.

Stephanie was broken after she lost her eye but no more!!! She will never be a victim any more.

Psycho Somna will have his part in this book and it’s not pretty. Bracha what to do with him???

I like the world building, the plot twists, the friendship between Alys and Joey.
I love all the fighting there’s nothing better in my eyes then a kick-ass heroin.
The writing is excellent.

The only thing that I miss and wish was different: It’s time for Alys and Joey to leave the friends zone I want some Romance.

Wow! A stunning sequel that left me breathless. I didn't realise how much I was invested in the characters of Joey and Alys. But I was. I am. And I devoured this novel like a Ringed devours human flesh. I have only been to Edinburgh twice but I could visualise the battle scene so vividly. And what an epic battle! One to rival George RR Martin's. I couldn't flick my Kindle fast enough. I was even routing for Bracha and that is due to Wilson's brilliant characterisation. These novels are begging to be made for the big screen. They certainly rival other dystopia novels such as The Hunger Games and Divergent. But this thought has left me with one pressing question: who would play Somna, and how would they convey the no eyelid look? Mark Wilson, I salute you, Sir!

Great read!! I loved the story and the different characters and the roles they played.
I am not a huge fan of jumping timelines. But other than that I thought it was a great read. Great job to the author for the twist and turns.
Will there be another book? I certainly hope so!!!

I picked up this series through Kindle Unlimited - looking for something outside of my usual reads. I’m not typically a fan of dystopian zombie stories - Aside from enjoying the Zombies, Run app, I don’t go for that genre. This series is different though - it’s engaging, with interesting heroes and villains. I want to know what happens to them next - even the ones I don’t like. I appreciate the writing style - the story progresses quickly - there’s no useless filler put in to drag the story out. When the perspective changes to another character, there is little rehashing or recycling of events, so it’s not redundant. On occasion, the flow is too smooth and I feel like it got to the big parts too quickly - but that only because it means the end is closer than I want it to be - it’s not actually rushed... the build up makes sense. I just wasn’t ready! I plan to read the next book soon.

A very strong return to the quarantined city in Mark Wilson's inspired dEaDINBURGH series. After the shock twists in the first book, Wilson takes his familiar characters and throws a major concern for them to deal with, to come together, and to try to beat. I'll avoid more plot based comments, because it's the second book, and I wouldn't want to give anything at all away.

The major victory for the author in this book, for me, is that Wilson manages to avoid a potential banana skin, and takes the story away from the plagued wandering Zoms. Lesser writers would keep the focus on the battle with the zombies, re-treading old ground, and giving us re-hashed repeats of what happened in the first book, but not Wilson. He might look like somebody drew basic facial features on a potato with a biro, but what goes on inside that potato head is always gold. He builds on what the characters know, and he allows them to grow and mature before our eyes. Joey and Alys are no longer the naive warriors taking their fight to the plague, instead they are allowed to take control of their own destinies, and those of not just the people they love, but those of every living breathing person in the city. He has a huge capacity for painting good people. His protagonists aren't flawed or sneaky in any way, they are just good people, and it gives you a really happy feeling when they succeed, or a shocker of a feeling in your gut if they fail. I enjoyed the first book immensely, despite the genre, which was down to Wilson's skill with the written word. The second book, though, now he's inside their heads, comes across as far more confident affair. The plot strands weave through it incredibly well, and he has it held together tighter than a fat goth's corset.

I must start out by saying that I don't normally go out of my way to read zombie themed books. Nothing against them, it's just not my preferred genre to read. That being said, I gave the first book in this series a shot because I have read other works by Mark Wilson and really loved them. He's a great writer who produces some very quality stuff. If you haven't read any of his other books, by all means, do so at once. dEaDINBURGH Vantage took me by surprise and I found myself completely enthralled with the story and the characters. In a nutshell... I was hooked.
Alliances wasted no time pulling me right back into the "dead city" and into the hearts of the characters I had grown quite fond of. I loved how Wilson uses this book as a platform to develop some of the cast from book #1 into key players. He also adds new characters that bring the back story as well as the ending together, full circle. If I thought the first book was great, I soon found that this one is completely beyond amazing.
I cannot wait to see where this storyline takes me on the next installment. Highly recommended.

dEaDINBURGH:Alliance (Din Eidyn Corpus Book 2)

This RECOMMENDATION is not written lightly. Truthfully this is one of the best if not THE BEST ZOMBIE apocalypse books I have read, and they , the zombies, didn't play a Hugh part in the telling. ALLIANCE is book 2 of a trilogy so I also recommend you read the number 1 , first. The young pair of fighters , JOEY and ALYS, have returned and they have a plan to avenge their families and friends and they now have the NAME of the person they believe to be responsible for all that has happened. They are being sought by different groups, each hoping to kill them or feed them to the zombies. But they have friends hidden in the groups willing to help them. Read this exciting series. To pass it it up is to loose BIG. I RECOMMEND.

Opening disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the author.

Mark Wilson has delivered a superb follow-up to the first book in the series. The story picks up around the same time that the first book ended and doesn't miss a beat. We're served with some additional background information that helps fill in any gaps, and the big twist reveal from the first novel is expanded upon very effectively.

I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this novel, as I did the first, and highly recommend it.

It had been a while since I read the first in the series but I vividly recalled the main characters in no time at all. This sequel is just as good as the first novel and, as the title says, sees alliances being formed between most of the small groups scattered around Edinburgh. Great fun.

Alliances is on par with the first dEaDINBURGH book (Vantage). I think there was some un-tapped potential, but overall I would recommend it to fans of Young Adult horror. Like the first book--it is fairly unique in the genre.

Is this a game or real life, people in Edinburgh are trapped with no modern convenience and form tribes just trying to survive the zombies. I had not read the first book in the series so maybe I was lost
with the plot line and characters.
