The book is more focused on buddhist teachings than I expected. The key concepts however need not necessarily be read nor understood in a religious context. Great book, very insightful and I felt really wholesome, balanced and positive after finishing it.

- Erst begreifen, dann reagieren
- Urteile „richtig oder falsch / gut oder schlecht“
- Unbeeinträchtigt durch negative Emotionen
- Die Meinung anderer Leute
- Richtiges konkurrieren

Thank you Portfolio Penguin for my ARC. These opinions are my own:

I loved this book, providing as it did ancient wisdom made practical in today's world. While the concepts as they are explained are found in Buddhism, this book presents these universal truths not tied to religion, but based in proven science. These concepts have been helpful for me in struggling with anxiety, worries, and dissatisfaction. As a whole it's short and practical, and is broken down into a very practical, accessible approach. Its basic thesis is: suffering is an inescapable part of life--it's how we react to things that is within our control. Understanding your mind correctly and facing it head-on is freeing. Kusanagi presents the content language that is easy to understand and accept for my Western mind, and not in a mystical way. I will probably find myself re-reading it regularly as a reminder.

3.5*

Reset mental, no manual operativo

The Practice of Not Reacting presents Buddhist principles in a clear, practical, and accessible way for modern readers. Rather than focusing on abstract philosophy, it emphasizes understanding our emotional reactions and developing greater awareness, calm, and resilience in everyday life. The writing is straightforward and reflective, making complex ideas approachable without oversimplifying them. Readers interested in mindfulness, personal growth, or practical wisdom are likely to find plenty to consider and discuss. It is a thoughtful book that encourages reflection on how we respond to life's challenges rather than trying to control the challenges themselves.

The Practice of Not Reacting gets 3 stars. It’s a straightforward, calming Buddhist guide that reframes suffering as stemming from our judgments rather than events themselves. I appreciated its simple tools for noticing reactions, letting go of “good/bad” labels, and allowing thoughts to pass without attachment. It stays practical and accessible, even for mindfulness beginners. Not a perfect 5 due to its brevity in some spots, but it’s a solid, focused read for handling daily stress with more peace.

The art of not reacting to everything is a practical guide to mental hygiene. It shows how to build inner calm and steadiness by choosing consciously when not to respond to external triggers. It is especially helpful for people dealing with stress, overload, or constant stimulation who want a simple but effective way to feel more balanced and satisfied inside.

Puro humo.
