How much more violent can you get than beating someone to death with your hands? It's brutal, animalistic and hardcore.
Imagine being an injured MMA fighter, and then being offered a very lucrative position manning the gym for these fighters that know no limits. No holds barred in these fights. Some of them are even to the death! Talk about excitement.
Money is the root of all evil, because once given the opportunity to participate in the fights, even people who swore they'd never fight again might end up back in the ring.
Oh yeah, and it wouldn't be a Wol-Vriey book without some sort of supernatural/ culty/ ritual trying to summon the devil.

EnterPAINment is a brutal and sexy extreme horror novel from Wol-vriey. This one has underground fights, sex, depravity, and a side helping of the occult. There’s mystery and suspense and all kinds of violence, but there’s also Wol-vriey’s signature dark humor and tongue-in-cheek pokes at stereotypes.
As is Wol-vriey’s style, there’s a very diverse, vivid, and entertaining cast of characters driving the story, people of all sizes, shapes, genders, races, sexualities, and moral compasses. The main character, Dave, is an absolute riot of human strengths and failings and has a very real-person personality. Interestingly, the setting of vice and power and perverse decadence combines with Dave’s perspective and inner struggles to put this on the cusp of splatterpunk. Subtext speaks to societal and systemic privilege, greed, and classism, and while, overtly, it is integral to the story, I found it impactful as well.
Most importantly, this is a compelling, edge-of-your-seat read. The action is insane, the tension is physically palpable, and the ending was wholly unexpected. It’s a grisly, sexy, suspenseful, and fun story. But extreme horror fans only, please.

EnterPAINment follows a retired MMA fighter who gets an opportunity to relive some of his former glory and train a crop of amateur fighters in an underground, "anything goes" fight league. Once he arrives at the training facility and watches a few fights for himself he learns that this seemingly innocuous fight league is actually the most depraved and disturbing fight promotion that's ever been created. He witnesses "to the death" fights, knife fights and male vs female fights. He vows to never participate in any of the depravity, until he's given an offer that he can't refuse and comes out of retirement in hopes of earning the payday of a lifetime.
Being an extreme horror fan as well as a hardcore MMA fan has led me on a quest to find a book that mixes my two passions together.......and I've finally found it.
Wol-Vrieys creativity and depravity shines in this book as we watch all manner of freakshow MMA fights and we take a peek inside the minds of the deviants who pay to watch these fights and the promoters who set them up.
I'm giving this cage fighting horror-fest 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
