I have read a lot of fantasy books within the last year and this one is NOTHING like the ones I’ve read. The world is simple, yet complex with relationships between the species. The world building isn’t in your face like most fantasy books. Bethany does an amazing job at building the world but keeping you intrigued with the plot. She keeps you entertained with banter, on the edge of your seat with trials at the academy, and keeps you swooning over the yearning the men do. Definitely a slow burn, but when you get the spice, my lord, it is worth every page you had to wait. I think my favorite thing about this book is the intricate relationships. She has created bonds like I’ve never seen. The trust between all the characters is intimate without adding anything physical which solidifies how beautiful she has written bonds. I am looking forward to see where Bethany takes this series!

4.5✨️ EXCUSE ME BETHANY THAT ENDINGGGG. I was absolutely here for this ride. I mean did someone say academy for fae witches and vampires? yes please. BUT I WAS HOOKED when the weird stuff kept happening then its like wait...could...ayden? and rayna? so good. I absolutely love the banter. I love the gang. I love aydens comments i couldn't stop giggling. I need the next book

Ok, I finished this. It took ages because truthfully, this wasn’t for me. The plot was thin and predictable, the side characters one dimensional, the twists unremarkable, and the “romance” intolerable. It was extremely cringy in the romance section and that was the majority of the book.

But here’s what worked: the writing was good. Let me explain, while the story was not great, our author really does have excellent descriptive language. She needs to keep writing. I’m convinced there’s something here that sparks with unpolished talent.

I’m not going to rate this on the rating system as this is an indie author, and I believe in giving them chances.

I won’t be continuing this series (also, I found the spice scene UNBEARABLE. It was soooooo awkward to me.), but I hope the author keeps going. She’s got promise.

This book absolutely consumed me.
I laughed out loud
I cried
& I fell in love with all our main characters so deeply.😍

Rise of the Twin Flames follows Rayna, a fierce FMC with an instinct for sensing when something is wrong, and her soulmate-level bond with her best friend Aurea—the kind of friendship where “she holds a piece of my soul” isn’t just poetic, it’s foundational to the story. Add in Corbin and Ayden, a layered academy setting, ancient gods, twisted creatures, and prophecy-level tension, and I was hooked early.

The world-building is rich without being overwhelming. Zilveria feels alive, the academy rules add structure and suspense, and the mythology surrounding the three gods—Luminar, Avani, and Desdemona (LAD 👀)—is intriguing and clearly setting up something much bigger.
The Vermain? Genuinely unsettling in the best way.

What really stood out to me was the character dynamics. The slow burn between Rayna and Corbin (& Aurea & Ayden) is PAINFUL in the most delicious way—the kind that has tension BLEEDING 🩸 off the page. Their connection builds through quiet moments, shared runs, stolen glances, and almost moments that had me kicking my feet and screaming internally. When the spice finally hits?
Worth. Every. Second. Of. Waiting.🥵🔥

But it’s not just the romance. The found family is EVERYTHING.❤️
Rayna & Aurea’s friendship? Soul-deep.
Ayden & Corbin’s bond? Rock solid.
And the cross-dynamics—Ayden with Rayna, Aurea with Corbin—are so fulfilling and emotionally satisfying. These relationships feel intentional, earned, and deeply intertwined.

The plot steadily escalates with ominous warnings (“don’t trust anyone”), shared dreams, corrupted magic, possession, and secrets surrounding Twin Flames vs. mates that left me with more questions than answers—in the best way. The mystery surrounding Haylee, Professor Cadoc’s cryptic guidance, and the haunting visions all build toward an ending that is sexy, emotional, and explosive.

By the time I reached the final chapters, I laughed out loud, teared up, and felt genuinely attached to these characters. The ending delivers while still leaving so much unresolved—and I need book two immediately.

What I loved most:
• Found family
• Banter that actually lands
• Slow-burn tension done RIGHT
• Twin Flames mythology
• Friendships that matter just as much as the romance

This was an easy read with high emotional payoff, incredible chemistry, and a slow burn that had me feral. If you love academy fantasy, soulmate-level bonds, and tension that makes you squeal into your pillow—this one is for you.

A Magical Academy Story Full of Heart and Adventure

I absolutely loved this book. It has everything I enjoy in a fantasy story. Fae, witches, vampires, magic, romance, mystery, and plenty of unexpected moments that kept me wanting to read just one more chapter.
My favorite part of the story was the friendships. The bond between Corbin, Ayden, Aurea, and Rayna felt genuine and became the heart of the book for me. I found myself rooting for each of them and looking forward to every scene they shared together.
Bethany Jones did an incredible job creating this world. Triple Point Academy felt like a place I wanted to visit, and the history, politics, and magic all fit together so naturally. The magic system was easy to follow while still feeling fresh and exciting.
I also really enjoyed the different points of view because they gave each character their own voice and made me feel connected to all of them. By the end of the book I wasn’t ready to leave this world.
If you enjoy magical academies, found family, romance, and stories filled with fae, witches, and vampires, If you like fantasy, Romance and a spicy climax. I highly recommend this book. I cannot wait to see what happens next in the series. All the best, Shawn

⭐️⭐️⭐️½ | Rise of the Twin Flames by Bethany Jones

Rise of the Twin Flames was a fun, easy fantasy read with some enjoyable elements. The story includes games and trials, magic from witches, and vampires, which kept things interesting and gave it a magical, adventurous vibe. And the banter was excellent

That said, the character development felt a little rushed to me—especially the romance. It came across as very “insta-love,” which I’m not usually a fan of. At the same time, the overall pacing of the book felt slow, which was an odd contrast and made parts of the story drag.

Overall, while it wasn’t a standout read for me, it was still an okay book and enjoyable enough to earn 3-3.5 stars. If you like fantasy with magic, trials, and supernatural elements, this one might be worth checking out.

my new favorite Romantasy

Oh my gosh. This book is amazing and I cannot wait for book 2! This book follows Corbin, Rayna, Aurea and Ayden as things start to unravel at their magical academy. They have to go through trials and struggles while trying to figure out a prophecy.

This book is so well written and I was completely enthralled in it. The characters were developed so well and the plot had just the right amount of twists and turns. I feel like I have no idea what’s gonna happen and that’s exciting!

Also the slow burn…oh man. It is yummy and delicious and good lord I can’t wait for more!

Okay, this book was a good flippin’ time. 😂 I listened to the audiobook, which I HIGHLY recommend because the full cast was absolutely top notch.

This has everything you want in a romantasy: witches, vampires, fae, magic, romance, and plenty of chaos. 👀

Initially, the romance felt a little too insta-love-ish for me, but as the story progressed, it really started to work. By the end, I completely understood why the author portrayed their relationship that way, and I was fully invested.

Overall, such a fun romantasy read, and that audiobook definitely elevated the experience for me!

This book was a breath of fresh air. The perfect blend of magic, action, passion, suspense, mystery, and slow-burn. Bethany wrote this in a way that had me hooked, and I could not stop laughing from the banter between the main four characters.

A MUST read.

Could not put it down, and cannot wait for more from the world of Ziveria and the Veilborne Trilogy.
