Psychic Visions #7

Eyes to the Soul

Rate this book
This is book 7 in the series - and it's Stefan's story!

Just because a person can see – doesn't mean they should look.

Celina Wilton was technically blind, a state she wasn't very happy about. In her case the alternative was worse. So she'd learn to adapt, one way or another.

Stefan Kronos has wanted to get close to Celina for a long time, but she has walls that he's been forced to go around in some unusual ways. When a case he's been called to consult on puts her square in his radar he has to watch his step…and hers.

Unraveling the threads twisting between them and a killer like none Stefan had seen before means Celina has to trust him enough to let him inside her barriers.

That's when Stefan realizes he's not the only with eyes into her soul.

Eyes to the Soul is Book #7 in Dale Mayer's Psychic Visions Series and we finally get Stefan Kronos (my favorite character in this series) story. We finally get to find out more about his past and who he has been in love with for a long time.

I have mixed feelings about this book - that's not saying that I didn't like the story - I did - it's just that there were a couple of things that bugged me a bit.

The storyline was fresh and unique and kept me at the edge of my seat a few times.

I liked the bit we get of Stefan's back-story but just thought it was not enough. The same with Celina's back-story. There are a lot of questions about their pasts

I admired Celina for the way she lived and how she looked at life - but at times she did drive me a bit batty with some of the things she did.

Previous characters that I have come to like are woven into this story and I loved how the characters interact with each other.

The twists and the identity of the bad guy were pretty well done...I never had an inkling on who it was....surprised surprised!!!

I liked the cover.

I certainly can recommend this series to anyone who loves suspense, romance, paranormal and some great and memorable characters.

I was given a copy of this book with the agreement that I give a non-biased review. This book is a continuation of the Psychic Visions Line, Book #7. Here is my honest review.

I have read a few of this series and I was excited to see one of the most mysterious characters, Stefan, finally get a story. I very eagerly anticipated this book, simply for that reason alone. However, I have mixed feelings after reading the book. To help, I consolidated the pros and cons into a section for each.

PRO:
1) A brief revisit of several of the previous characters in other books.
2) You do not need to read all of the other books in order to read this one. It is an excellent standalone novel. The author gave such a great synopsis of what the characters do that you didn't need back stories.
3) The plot was new to me, so it wasn't a recycle of someone else's story. It was fresh and I appreciate that more and more everyday because it seems that most story lines are a rehash of something that is already on market.
4) Good pivotal point when everything comes to a head. Bad guy? Never in a million years would I have guessed who it was. Again, I feel like most of the time, I can guess most books by the time I am 50% through. This was not the case here. (And if you are looking for spoilers, sorry none here.) That was a big plus for me.

CONS: This is where the book that started out with 5 stars, lost 2 stars.
1) Random factoid. I hate brussel sprouts. I loathe them. They are like little miniature shrunken heads and they taste awful. As a child I hated when they appeared on my plate because I knew it meant that I would have to finish them in order to get to the good stuff. My point? Well, the first 15 chapters of the book was a plate full of brussel sprouts. 15 chapters of brussel sprouts? Yes, 15 chapters of brussels sprouts. The author took entirely too long to bring the hero and heroine into focus. So, I deducted 1 star.
2) I actually was not a fan of the heroine. She got on my nerves a lot (and I mean a lot.) If you define character success as "because they stick in your mind", then yes, she was a successful character. However, I really didn't care one way or another about her plot. I was more invested in Stefan than Celina. Hence, the 2nd star deduction.

Was it worth the read? Sure it is, just for Stefan's back story alone it is worth it. For Celina? Go get another fork you have a lot of sprouts to get through.

Good. But could guess the identity of the killer before first half of the book.

OK, so I know that I am in the minority here. I did not enjoy this one as much as the others. Stefan is with no doubt my favorite. However I think I missed out on his wit and strength in this book. Additionally in general the budding new psychic in each book of the series have been stronger than Celina came off in this novel. There was a hefty helping of insecurity and self doubt in this one from her character that at times annoyed me. Also, I always enjoy how Mayer weaves other characters from previous novels into the current story line. However this time it felt as though there was too little time spent on those characters interactions and it was spread out in a disjointed way. In essence this book just did not flow as seamlessly for me as much as the previous offerings. Make no mistake I still love this series and will devour each new offering with glee. This one just missed the mark for me. I have simply enjoyed the others more.

Dale Mayer's amazing talent triumphs once again with the newest Psychic Visions novel, Eyes to the Soul. Most fans of the series have been waiting for Stefan to get his own book and it has arrived. His love is so beautiful but she doesn't even know who he is. She feels that she has no one she with whom she can share her year long nightmare, a nightmare that is growing and has landed almost literally in her lap. That is the part that isn't trying to access her eyes!

With the twist that Miss Mayer always provides, a simple synopsis would not do justice to this story and even though we have long learn to expect the unexpected in her books, the full tale in this one goes so far beyond that it truly grabbed my heart as well as my throat! A truly not to be missed experience.

Finally after 6 books we get to see who has been holding Stefan's heart all this time!
I loved how Celina is so strong minded and tries to keep her life as "normal" as she can while no longer being able to see and unsure why this is. Although sadly this means she lives a very solitary life just so she doesn't have to rely on anyone which also results in her only having a small circle of friends she trust which has just got smaller. All of this means a very frustrating time while waiting to see if she will start to trust someone new ie Stefan before the torture she has been going through for the past year will finally take its toll on her.
There were some fantastic twists within this book and geeze does it make me a little worried about what could go on out there!

Celina Wilton is technically blind, which she wasn't happy about, but she had learnt to adapt. Psychic Stefan Kronos has wanted to get close to Selina for along time, but her walls have meant he has watched her from afar. However, when a case he is consulting on puts her on his radar he has to watch his own step as well as hers. Can Stefan unravel the threads that twist between them as well as the killer who also seems to have eyes into her soul before it is too late?

I loved this story which finally meant that Stefan was central to the story so that he had his own chance of happiness. It was full of drama and excitement as well as the psychic elements that make this series so great. Well written, easy to understand and feel, I was completely addicted to the story as it developed. I needed to know who was behind everything just as much as Stefan and Celina.

I have been waiting for Stefan's book. Like others Stefan is probably my favorite character in the series so far. I loved the character of Celina and Stefan together. The pacing of the book was a bit off. I wanted more development of the relationship. Stefan knew that Celina was his soul mate but Mayer could have developed Celina's side more in my opinion. Some readers have said that it was predictable for a romance suspense but I didn't mind that as much. I still enjoyed the book and glad that Stefan hopefully gets his happy ending. Can't wait to see the continued development of this couple in the other books. Overall a solid 4 star read. Would recommend this series and book to any one who loves suspense with a psych twist.

OMG, this is the best one yet!! I love that Stefan finally gets his girl, he has been alone, strong and giving to everyone for so long, it is good to finally see him get his HEA:-) Yeah!

(I knew who the tormenter was like many reviewers, because we were given all his other victims and the killers thoughts, which the book characters working out the case were not privy to, so I was still impressed with how they give of themselves to others so openly and were still smart enough to work it out.) Usually these books go a little to far into the victim for me and feel a bit too dark, this one did not do that to me.

I picked this book up after having been away from the series for awhile. I enjoyed the book although the first part was a bit sluggish for me. "Eyes to the Soul" features Stefan and Celina who is the woman Stefan has been waiting for. Celina is blind due to an accident shortly after losing both her parents and her fiancé. However, her surgeon has done multiple tests and tells her that there's no physical reason for her blindness and refers her to Dr Maddy whom we met in book three. She discovers an energy blockage around Celina's eyes and Celina explains that she feels a threatening force. Stefan has now fully entered Celina's life in order to protect her. There's also a series of murders that seemingly have nothing in common yet are related and when the common denominator is finally discovered it's surprising to the group.

A story full of trauma and emotional upheaval, twists and a mind of someone turned evil. I really wanted someone extra special for Stefan he helps so many others with their gifts. Celina certainly doesnt deserve the fate she is dealing with, her loss on so many levels and then the evil getting into her mind. Although this is sad at times there is also something beautiful that grows along the way and i was glad Celina didnt turn help away but listened and learned and then gave back. Yes to the happy ending it was perfect.

With this story the series officially crosses the line from paranormal romance and/or murder mystery to outright horror. A few of the previous stories skated this line too. So I am done with this series.

The premise of this story had someone still connected to all of their body parts after they died and the parts were donated. What a truly horrible idea, and way to discourage organ donors! Ugh!

Stefan has been my favorite for a long time and it was good to see his story. The connection to his childhood was interesting and his strict hold on morals refreshing. The case was multi faceted, but the villain or impetus behind the harm was predictable.

Well written and colorful this story and series is a fun read!

Stefan's story...finally!

I knew Stefan's story would be good, but this was fantastic! Secrets, twisted paths, horrific suffering, long lost love and finally acceptance...it is finally time for Stefan and Celina and their HEA.
I love that we also get to revisit Sam and Brandt...one of my favourite couples, and of course the ever present Dr Maddy!
One of the best in the series I loved this.

Stephan's Story

Can I say WOW? Stephan has been so busy helping everyone else that he has neglected himself. When he does decide to do so, we learn so much more about him. And some of his friends from other books are either in the book or mentioned. Awesome!

Does not disappoint.

Not that I expected it to; the Psychic Visions series is really one of the most intense set of books I have ever read. I had narrowed down who the killer was to two people. But I had zero clue who Stefan was!

I love Stefan.❤️❤️❤️❤️
I also wish that now that Stephan has a mate she should have been someone strong like him so that she could have helped him with saving all these people who need him constantly. He is always so exhausted. And he is so super! Lissa was a stronger better character for him even though I know she was only seventeen and died. It would have been great if her character had not died but was just in a coma.

At the end of 'Rare Find' I was happy dancing over this next book. Finally it's Stefan's story. He's with Dr. Maddy and Drew, Tabitha and Ronin and Shay at the symphony when Tabitha lets out a delighted gasp. Stefan had his eyes closed enjoying the music but opens them to see what's happening. Colors danced with the music in the ethers. It's Dr. Maddy who points out they are coming from the harpist. Stefan follows the colors to the source, he knows her, she is his beloved, the other half of his soul.

Now it's one thing to get to know someone and fall in love, but Celina doesn't know Stefan as he is now. He's kept his distance, first because he's older, then later waiting for the right opportunity.

Celina has a problem, there's someone in her head, asking her for something she can't do. A repetitive 'Let Me See' is only part of the torture he is putting her through. As Celina and a few friends from the symphony are celebrating the new season, he decides to offer her proof of what he could do and that begins a very interesting cycle of events.

Celina's always seen ghosts but this one that has attached to her is decidedly malicious in intent. Unlike Mimi who is more of a friend and confidant. Celina is also blind, her surgeon is puzzled because there doesn't appear to be an medical reason for it.

We get to see a lot of Samantha in this book, she's having visions that are very disturbing. Brandt is trying to make sense of them and needs Stefan's help. It's through this connection that Stefan gets to meet Celina, although it's in regard to a disturbing message written in blood on her bathroom mirror.

Stefan is a bit puzzled, but takes it all in stride knowing that everything will eventually come together and make sense. In a bit of a twist, Celina's surgeon calls Dr. Maddy in for a consult on her eyes. This turns out to be even more interesting.

I love the peeks we get at the bad guy's thoughts as this story unfolds it kept me trying to guess who it is and why. Thanks to Dr. Maddy, Stefan is finally able to get close to Celina. Although Lissa, the teenage ghost who's attached herself to Stefan isn't happy with her.

I loved this complicated tale with so many different things going on that are all related and just a touch of sizzle. I'm so glad I was able to get this in another bundle so I can just start on the next book.

Fans of the series have been waiting (im)patiently for this book-and it did not disappoint! The buildup to this book was huge. Stefan, for me at least, became a beloved "peripheral" character that I wanted more of to the point where I wrote to the author to see if he was getting his own story. The author certainly had big expectations to fill.

We got to enjoy some of the previous books' characters again, notably Dr. Mandy, Brandt, and Sam and they all helped solve this book's mystery. There was a good balance of romance and mystery, which I found lacking in the previous book. I would have liked more of the previous characters to be included, but that probably would have taken the focus away. Perhaps in the next book (Fall 2015-really?! That's so far away!!!) we'll see more.

I'm really not big into "paranormal" books, but this isn't the paranormal that is popular right now-no vampires or werewolves here! Mayer has created such a unique world.

This book did have a lot of similarities to the first book in the Brown and De Luca series, which I also enjoyed, but the writing style is so different that I think they are only by coincidence rather than any sort of influence.

Overall, I am satisfied with the ending, but I want more in the future! Since Stefan has played a part in the previous books, binding them together, I can only assume that will continue. I would have liked more of Stefan's backstory since it was his book. There were a few things eluded to but not flushed out with regards to his childhood, as well as Celina's. I also expected more about Celina's relationship with her parents. Were they close? What about the aunt? I didn't feel an emotional connection between her and her parents, so I feel like that's missing. And the end with Jillian and Gordon had odd timing to me. Once the main murder mystery was over, I felt like the wrap up was too quick.

I do realize had all of these things that I wanted to have flushed out would have bogged down the actual story/mystery, but perhaps a novella in the future? A Christmas story? Just a suggestion.

Can't wait for the next one! In the meantime, I'm going to have to restart the series because I'm sure it will be even better this time around!

A Psychic Visions Novel (book 7)
Eyes To The Soul
By: Author Dale Mayer

The first time I picked up a book by author Dale Mayer was her Vampire In Denial (Family Blood Ties Series) it seemed like a good book to pass the time... I was wrong! It was a great book and I wanted more of it right away.
Every since then I have picked up every book Dale Mayer puts out.
I couldn't even pick my favorite because they are all amazing it is impossible to make that choice.
I have been impatiently waiting for Stefan Kronos story to come out and what a story it was!!
Celina Wilton and Stefan Kronos left anchors in my heart and my mind.
Celina's heart was beyond beautiful with her stead fast resolve to never give up or give in.
I can imagine her breath taking artistic music playing out for the world to enjoy.
I have always been a fan of the uber powerful Stefan Kronos he is one of the most loyal, loving and generous characters I have ever had the honor to read.
I absolutely loved that Author Dale Mayer brought some of our beloved characters into play in Eyes Of The Soul, who doesn't want to see the the characters that we fall in love with are up to. (I know I want to!)
Just like every book Dale Mayer writes this book is uniquely beautiful and completely memorable.
Author Dale Mayer wraps her readers into one beautiful gripping tale after another.
Her characters are funny, loving, real, likable and each have their own struggles and gifts that when put together forms a unbreakable bond of team work and family.
I fell in love with Celina's and Stefan's story and can not wait for the next book to come out!
I recommend this book to 18+ up due to adult situations and give it five stars.... These are the times I wish there were more stars because this book deserves it.

I was given this book by the author for a honest review, all thoughts and feelings are my own.

(P.S. I already had this book preordered when I was asked to read and share my thoughts:)

Great Read!!

Im so glad Stephan finally got his own story! He did not disappoint. I really feel like I know all these characters in real life and im glad he finally found his mate Celina. Celina is a talented musician that plays in an orchestra and she is blind. I havent read to many books with a blind character and Celina was a joy to gwt to know through out the story as well as watch her grow. This book just like the others had a predator on the psychic level and the things he did werent like anything ive reas about before. I cant say enough how the world Dale has created is amazing.

This was the story I have excitedly waited for.....Stefan's story. If I'm being totally honest it wasn't what I expected. Having read all of the previous books I expected a full on, in your face, battle raging climax. Instead what I got was a very subtle, intricate, and detailed story that was no less powerful. The detail was magnificent and the storyline unique. Dale Mayer has one very clever mind. Stefan has intrigued me from the first book, as there would be small glimpses into his world, just enough to draw you in and make you want more. I certainly got more here, I was so surprised at the ending that I now have to go back to make sure that I didn't miss anything. It made me second guess scenes and the interpretation of conversation, very, very clever, it blew me away! Stefan is still enigmatic and I have no doubt he always will be, there are parts of him that only Celina will ever get to see. It's a slow build up to the two of them finally coming together, but it was done just right for the characters and where they are in these stages of their lives. It was great to see Brandt and Sam also as they were the first characters to start the series off, and where we were introduced to Stefan, so it made sense. I'd love to see more of them, and as I say the ending was so special that I would love to see how they progress from there. Well done Dale, I was left once again wanting more.
